- Welcome back to another episode of Project Profit! This is the series where Rachael finds free or low cost second hand items with the goal of trying to flip them for some cash. All profits made from the series are donated to various charitable causes!
Rachael was particularly lucky this episode when she came across a gorgeous, Art Deco era vanity that was being given away for FREE! And this beauty was in desperate need of a restoration. After tackling this upcycle, Rachael was able to turn $0 to $450! That is some serious triple P (project profit potential)

How wonderful you left the piece basically as was meant to be. Knocked it out of the park, Rachel!
I’m only commenting because you asked, but I would add a little color back into your brows, like literally any color that’s medium contrast. You could even pull off a ginger brow! I think because there isn’t any contrast between your skin and the brows it gives off the no brow look which is great if that’s your style and you’re drawn to that look. It’s just not my favorite, I like more definition on the face!
So to give examples of random colors, I wouldn’t do a pale pink brow on you because there isn’t enough contrast for my preference, but a medium toned magenta would be pretty! Ash brown/dark blonde, or a medium toned ginger brow would be my pick for “natural” colors on you besides your obvious natural color which looks great!
Great idea! I also feel the very black eye make-up looks too harsh compared to the brows. Maybe with different make-up it would look better contrast-wise. But also I don't hate it as it is. I'm giving it a chance to grow on me.
Okay I'm so glad she asked and that someone was honest, her face needs contrast because her hair and skin and feature are already very fair it just makes her look washed out... Try a darker blonde, not bleach blonde
I think making them just a bit more of an ashy/cool toned blonde would help a lot to make them look more natural. They're a bit too yellow right now. But of course if Rachael likes them that way, then that's all that really matters. :)
I agree, though again... they're your brows! Also, with the lighter top, it was more noticeable then when you were wearing the darker gray top. Always beautiful!

For the bleach brows - wonder how they would look with brown mascara/liner on your eyes? I think the light brows makes the eye makeup look really stark in contrast, which gives an editorial/runway look in my opinion. Lighter makeup may make the brows feel more balanced? Over all, rock what you love!
I agree, the lighter eyebrows threw me off... Just not a fan.

I would recommend you maybe tone them like half a shade darker than your hair. It will make it look more natural and blend better

Totally agree on both! Not a fan of bleached brows personally but that only applies to me. The only thing that matters is that you feel fantastic in the style choices you've made. Rock on!!
@@amielynn8506 I think, as she specifically asked for our opinion, it is fine to state, that we might not like the look a lot (I personally don't like it, compared to her usual look, I prefer brows a little darker to frame the eyes). Of course it is entirely up to her, what she does with her face and we will still watch the videos just as before and like her work the same.
@@Jemima1377 She did ask for our opinions, but she also firmly believes we will come around to loving it the way she does. So I think she knows that it will be talked about but wanted to get ahead of it and try to make it a more positive conversation.
Though I don’t love the bleached brow look, I love that you addressed them multiple times in the video, asking what people thought while also making it clear that you love the look and it makes you happy. I think this is a great way to keep things light when you already knew people were going to talk about it ;) nice, Rachael 🎉
Since you asked about your new bleached brows, coming from someone who has naturally blonde eyebrows, I also have blonde/light brown lashes. Seeing the stark contrast between blonde brows and jet black lashes is definitely a look, but it's also quite jarring. If you want to keep the bleached brow look, maybe consider switching to a brown mascara and liner
At first I was thinking I didn't like them but after reading your comment, I realize it was because of the black mascara! The contrast is too much and it washes her out. I think going with lighter mascara/eyeliner would definitely make the difference. Because I don't think the eyebrows look BAD they just kind of drained some color in her and that made the black tones stand out too much. I hope that makes sense lol.
@@scd8603 ya same here, personally I think they might look better just a smidge darker cause right now they're kind of blending in with her skin T-T like a dirty blonde instead of platinum brows
Girl you do your brows however you want to! but if you do bleach them, you might consider softening the eyeliner/mascara so it's not quite so harsh and aging.

Very beautiful diy project (as always!). Thank you, Rachel. I work for an ngo in Germany called Afghanistan Schulen. We have built about 65 schools in the past 40 years in rural areas in Afghanistan. We also have women projects to help women become literate and get an education. We are still active in Afghanistan. 99% of our members work voluntarily. You did a great job on this piece, it turned out so beautiful. That hat tho... I'm really digging the hat. I know it's a bunny hat but it has real hippy vibes. I'm a senior, grew up in the 70's. I don't look good in hats but I think I could rock this one. If your friend used a pattern maybe she wouldn't mind sharing it. ✌️

Oh goodness Rachael, you did a beautiful job making this vanity so much better looking than when you first got it, I feel it actually looks newer and more beautiful. The stain color is so pretty and replacing the missing mirror under that glass shelf makes it look so amazing. Oh it really is so so beautiful. and what you did to your brows is facinating, and you could add a little color back to them, but if this is your style it is just fine. I love the brows! It really opens up the possibilities for fun, creative eye makeup! You would look so cool with the bleached brows and electric blue eyeliner! Only problem is it takes a lot of maintenance to keep them looking fresh

Art Deco is such a beautiful style. I've been watching lots of furniture flippers on UA-cam, they all say to clean the piece before thoroughly before sanding, to save on sandpaper and avoid driving whatever dirt may be on the furniture into the grain. Many recommend Dawn or Simple Green.

It must have been hard to let that vanity go because it is perfection! I've always wanted something like it but don't have space for it.
That's why the seller got rid of it! They just didn't have space anymore
Oh I would never get rid of my antique vanity sure it was 450 but I love the piece 3 mirrors. Middle main mirror tilts ans the two smaller ones has hindges that turn inwards. Just wish came with the chair/stool sit on.
I'm curious about how you would use it, I mean is it meant for people to sit in front of it? And if so, should people sit on the floor?

Great job restoring the vanity. I love art deco and I appreciate you taking the time to restore it to its original look by replacing the missing pieces.
That restoration was terrific! A technique you might try at some point is to cut squares/rectangles of broken veneer off of a piece, and then replace them with pieces of matching veneer, if you have large areas you're thinking you're going to have to use too much wood filler to cover.
The brows (because you asked) seem to be making you happy, and I think the only thing anyone should say about what someone does to their own face/body/hair is that if you like it, then that's terrific, and someone happy with their style and choices is always the best thing to see.

On the brows: I find it kinda cool 😃 what bothers me is the harsh contrast between the dark mascara and eyeliner 😅 brown or even dark brown would probably give a more cohesive look... but you do you - I love unique styles ❤

The eyebrows are giving me lady gaga vibes. But also that one time my daughter shaved them off completely. I laughed so hard. Funny how she thought I was going to be upset. This peice looks amazing. I was holding my breath for each mirror break.

This piece came out so nice! Redoing the mirror piece and the glass shelf made it a slam dunk truly.
I feel like because of your bangs sometimes you don’t really even notice the bleached brows, they aren’t bad, maybe if you thinned out the length of them a bit, just made the brow itself more tidy. I commend the daring aspect of trying the bleached brow haha.

A good charity that can always use help is "hope for paws" they rescue and re-home strays. The founder works hard and it's not always easy to rescue certain animals. They run on donations.

Don't listen to the hate Rachel, you look beautiful regardless what anyone says. I could never pull off the bleached look, being an olive skinned brunette i take after my mums turkish side of the family and it wouldnt look great on me, you however can totally rock it.

I think the brows are fine, but would recommend wearing brown eye liner/mascara (or even white! That’d be such a look!). The black creates a massive contrast in your facial coloring. Hopefully that makes sense!

Also I LOVE the brows! Super fun to have and they won’t last too long before they grow out quick, so it will be easy for you to retrospect and decide if you want to keep it going, or maybe even make it seasonal!

This vanity is beyond beautiful, your restoration was so perfectly done 😭😭😭😭 I don’t mind the bleached brows btw - not my cup of tea but they fit your vibe pretty well!!! I think maybe opting for a lighter brown/maroon mascara/liner would help balance them, or just a slight blonde tint to give them just a little more definition would be *chefs kiss*

bleached brows are def tough to pull off but where's the fun in life if you can't experiment with your image! plus you can do so much more colorwise now that they're bleached, you could have a different temp eyebrow color whenever, love that for you 😘

The restored piece is gorgeous! I love the effect of the three mirrors looking like a circle. As for the brows, I don't know if they're growing on me, but they're sure growing on you and you will always be fabulous :)
That vanity is awesome! I have a Heywood Wakefield dresser/vanity that looks similar and, yes, the shelf in the middle is glass. I'm on the lookout for the vanity stool that goes with mine.

Since you asked, I LOVE the bleached brows! I've always loved these light, almost "invisible" brows. (And that crocheted headpiece is so cool!!) Also, the furniture piece is absolutely beautiful, love the 3-piece mirror. What a great find!

You asked so, no I don't think they come off on camera and the very dark mascara makes you look over processed, but I'm sure it's better in person and as long as you like it, that's all that matters.
I love the vanity! I bought one to make over but I haven't done anything to it just yet. I couldn't decide if I wanted to paint or stain it or try to revive it. This one tuned out brilliantly! I wasn't shocked that it sold right away! Well done!
Oh and I wanted to add that when I saw this thumbnail in UA-cam I didn't know it was sorry girls, and I was in a rush at the time so I started playing the video so I could find it later bc I have a vanity project, one it started playing I recognized your voice and was like oof that must have been an off picture they used bc I normally recognize you guys. So yeah the brows made you look so different I didn't recognize you. But if you like them then go for it ☺️

Your new look is adorable from here! I'm a mom of a daughter your age ish, and Idk if I would love them on her, lol. Maybe I can't understand your style (or my own kids' fashion) but I see you going to work and doing the thing and treating people well (at least on camera, but I extrapolate). I think your mom might agree: if you're kind and hardworking, who cares about the brows! Beautiful job with this vanity.
