Born in the 90s. Trust me. You guys will have fun in older FPS and third person games. To this day, still have old console that still function.
Yeah I played through Farcry 2 recently funnily enough and it was pretty fun. Might make a video on it at some point in the future
That and there will always be a market for it but when youve been playing em since counter strike 1.6, got over it 10 years ago however
DMZ was surprisingly fun, tried it to test 120 fps on my Ps5 and haven't stopped seems they stumbled on a grm
Farcry 2 was an animal all on its own very enjoyable I'm from africa so I loved the way the foot soldiers would communicate in afrikaans@@BeastMod2
Same, I think it's quite interesting that nowadays I get more enjoyment out of playing 20 year old games than I do current year games lmao. I grew up on OG Xbox, still have it and it works, not in the best shape but least it still works. I still use my 360 quite a lot as well, older consoles and games just hit different.
yeah I enjoyed goldeneye and I have zero nostalgia for it (when it released I didn't yet exist and wouldn't for about half a decade), I still play arm II from time to time, its sequel arma 3 (well I guess arma reforger exists but we don't talk about that) is over a decade old, I also play daggerfall somewhat regularly (well the unity port because the DOSbox version is less user friendly and isn't as moddable) and it is only just behind skyrim in my opinion...
Come on guys, COD Ghosts was not that bad. What came after were much worse.
I feel like any game after bo2 would be trashed on.
@@austinballard3746bo2 was goated bo3 got us by everything else is forgettable at best.
Ghosts was and is pretty bad homie however you look at it sales wise peak hour wise gameplay wise it was lacking nobody I know goes back to ghosts for anything unless they’re drinking and playing the alien mode
Ghosts turned someone like me who was a day 1 cod player who played the whole 12 months until the next one released to someone who couldn’t stomach that cod game for a month. Peak cod fandom kind of guy to completely disinterested in a snap of the finger. It was much worse than we remember. Too many peoples opinions on cod have shifted because cod has gotten much worse so “ghosts doesnt seem that bad” when yeah it was that bad. Im self aware enough to recognize the bias of the series getting worse can make me think more fondly of some of the older games. I won’t entertain it personally
The problem was, was that mw2 was the epitome of fps..... it had quick scoping, perfect running and sliding physics. And all the guns were very balanced. Maps were 10/10
@fricklinkfate360 I dont think black ops 3 was not that good imo but I do think the zombies where top very good. I feel like cod ghosts feels like modern call of duty. I don't really think ghosts feels like cod I think if they called it a different name it would have been popular. Like it didn't feel like the regular cod.
Born in ‘95 here 😂
Yeah the age of MW2 in 2009 going into black ops 1 was the best age for COD. They literally don’t make them like they used to.
facts
Pack it up unc 😂
@@reallife539 I’m packing ppl
Up in tekken 😎
‘97 here. 2007-2010 was peak online gaming. Halo 3 & OG MW2 were the POWERHOUSES.
@@MetaVizions man halo 3 memories are cherished brother 👊🏻
I honestly don’t even know if it is possible for them to have a comeback. They have officially devoted their franchise to greed that there is absolutely nothing they can implement to bring back their audience.
Indie developers are our only hope in these dark times. It’s over…
Actually there is one way and that is by first doing a full clean up of the executive team, replacing them with real creatives rather than Investor-lickers. Something that just started thanks to Bobby Kotick being removed once the aquisition by Microsoft went into full effect but we actually need to see the rest of them being removed.
And, then, we can see major changes such as increasing the amount of development time between releases (finally ending the yearly release cycle which has done so much harm) and start removing the casual pandering for this series so it returns to be more like a Military Sim and, at the same time, promote Overwatch 2 as the more Casual-oriented Shooter by default
WARZONE HAS RUINED EVERYTHING
*_Maybe the real downfall of the Call of Duty series is all the friends we made along the way._*
Maybe it is....
accurate statement
WARZONE HAS RUINED EVERYTHING
Why is everyone crying about bo3 supply drops? The only thing it keep you grinding the game, the emotion of opening many of the boxes at once, and getting a cool camo or gun was special. No competitive advantange from the Guns. Just criticising to talk something away
Man, that cod 4 to Black Ops 2 run...
*Vince McMahon 'he was special' meme*
I'm just grateful I got to live it in real time.
The fact that there is a collective agreement of an era between cod 4 and bo2 by way too many people shows that yeah there was actually something special there and it wasn’t just our memories. People collectively pinpointing a drop off isn’t by random chance.
That run is really unmatched
Black Ops 1 gang
Quite accurate. Greed and laziness caused the games to be less "clean". Compare any menu of a recent cod to cod 4 or black ops, and you'll see the difference straight away. It's a complete mess because they're trying to sell you a bunch of crap.
"Have you claimed your free sticker?"
"No, I don't want a free sticker!" "Well then this marker won't go away until you claim it."
"Fine I'l claim the damn sticker, happy now?"
"You still have 24 unclaimed items on the battle pass though..."
"What? How? Look I've claimed everything! There's only items for the bought battle pass!"
"Well, why haven't you bought the battlepass?"
"I don't want to spend money on skins and stickers!"
"Well, then your menus are going to have annoying markers everywhere. Are you sure you want that?"
Why are these my only options?! I want a crisp clean menu!
This comment is fact
The BLOPS2 Multiplayer Main Menu theme lives rent-free in my head and I'm totally ok with this. Also, the map with the dance club in it. I would just camp in there to listen to the music and wait for enemies.
PLAZA 😎
Also having Skrillex to make a track for the game too, huge moment
@MetaVizions agreed! I have that exact song in my playlist now, even years later!
Before I watch my gamble on why it failed:
Warzone
New prestige system
Bad zombies
Seasons instead of DLC
Swearing gets you banned
Issues started way before warzone
I agree with some of these but for me the SBMM is just hard to overcome. Also idk what it’s called but the fact that you don’t stay with the same lobby of players after a match is ridiculous
That's such a high tier video keep up bro ❤
Thanks mate. We gonna keep grinding out here 💪
I sat through 26 mins and next recommended video was unavailable 😂
This is really impressive for a summary video entailing the entire rise, fall, rise and fall again of the COD franchise. You deffo should use this concept for other franchises
Yeah thats the plan. I plan on doing many other franchises in a similar format at some point
@BeastMod2 it's funny how before I watched your video I assumed you had like half a million subs, I just saw that you have LESS THAN 200 subscribers!! You must be really that good with your editing and voice over work. Keep up with this and you can get 100K easy in like a month
WARZONE HAS RUINED EVERYTHING
SBMM being cranked up year after year made the game frustrating and overly competitive. It’s just not fun anymore
Some games are good as comp shooters. Cods just not one of them. People don’t like hearing it but it’s really not fun as one
Most hilarious thing in modern warfare was enemy team spammed emps so when they stoped 4 stealth bombers got called
MW2 (2009) and Black Ops 1 are my favourite. Spent so much time playing them. With the more recent games, I only play Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3 for zombies. Didn't get back into the series until Cold War and new MW2
I don't get why people still buy newer cod. Your just feeding into what activion wants, and its clearly working. The ONLY reason why cod is stil going today is because its famous and makes a LOT of money. Not for care for the franchise, or having a good idea for a new game. Just for money.
It's amazing that in those days it wasn't strange to have 2 or 3 million players at any given time, nowadays they struggle to keep a hundred and fifty thousand players.
Is this statistically true? I'm genuinely wondering. I wish Activision would make up
Great video dude! Recently found my old ps3 and have been playing some of the older cods on it.. So nice being able to have fun playing call of duty again!
Subbed, video is so well put together I didn’t even realise you were a small channel. Good work man🎉
I appreciate the nice comment man. I hope you have a good day 💙
Great video it’s sad to see what happend to CoD as someone that started playing with mw2
Jesus my entire childhood
I’ve been doing playing since cod 1 (2003) and United offensive (2004) 🔥🔥
Modern Warfare 2 Intervention 360 Quickscope from Heli Deck. Best gaming times i had😂
Modern warfare 2 (2009) single-handedly caused my gaming addiction. #1 game forever in my eyes. Best time of my life thus far
Would’ve never guessed u gad sub 1k followers. Good job on the vid bro. A million sub production
High quality vid keep it up!
I appreciate it brother! Definitely going to keep it coming
Siege and cod are both two of my favorite games subscribed to both channels 🙌🏼
This is a really good video! I really enjoy documentaries like these.
I enjoy making them. I also want to do longer form reviews on this channel as well in the future
Great video, one thing I heard which might have been explained already was that scorestreaks were introduced in BO2, I could have moss heard though 😅
Scrorestreaks were implemented in MW3, since MW2 your kill streaks’ kills would add further to your kill streak score.
The two cods that I ended up playing the most were surprisingly bo3 & infinity war
COD went from fun and action, never scared to cross a line, to now a low effort cash grab unloyal to its fanbase.
They lost sight of everything.
Advanced Warfare was underrated, and Infinite Warfare was overhated, especially its campaign. Honestly one of the best campaigns cod has ever done
This is a well made video I like the Call of Duty games and I have been playing since BlackOps. Most of my time playing Blackops was at my friend's house since I didn't have a Ps3 until the super slim model was released, I have played Blackops 2, Ghosts, Advanced Warfare they were ok but still not as good as the BlackOps Franchise. Cold War was my last Call of Duty game I bought and might be the last since I am tired of how toxic the player's can be. I wish you the best.
MW2 was my last COD. I bought it due to some friends getting it and wanting me to join them and I was firmly disappointed
Like the honesty and subscribed 😂
Ww2's supply drops i think were a lot more forgiving because 1 way easier to get them and 2 i feel like you get dlc guns way easier
Same I agree, also they were really easy to earn anyway and easy way to get lots of cool shit.
Scorestreaks were introduced in BO2, and generally I feel that's the streak system the players usually prefer, and it's not helping worse players, it's just awarding doing the objective instead of just going for kills
They were introduced in bo1 actually
@@rowenhenry8566 not correct, BO1 has killstreaks, MW3 has point streaks, BO2 has scorestreaks.
@@JVRD27 correct, I just looked it up and they go as far back as MW2. Which I wasn't around playing the game at that time so now I know
@@rowenhenry8566 not sure I understand your comment. Killstreaks exist since COD4, but they were changed starting from Mw3 to point streaks and scorestreaks in BO2. I was an active player back then so I remember vividly
really really good video, keep it up man!
Thanks man! I will keep them coming
Sorry I'm confused 🤔 it says this came out 6 days ago but it seems like this was done before mw3 came out? I don't get jt
Very well done video, also see my homie Act Man made a small cameo in the beginning. As the saying goes.
*”We will watch your career with great interest.”*
I appreciate it mate. I'm going to keep grinding and hopefully I can get up to that level some day 💙
@@BeastMod2 I look forward to seeing that! Also, you should totally do one on the Downfall of Bungie ;)
If you think about what cod used to be, a sandbox shooter, it makes more sense why it fell off. Play matches, rank up, goof off with friends, , goofy classes, private matches (Michael myers, quickscope lobbies, infected etc.) ninja defuses, trick shots, innovation etc… the creativity and variation of matches we’re taking away and all there is left is to try hard regular matches to win as a competitive shooter. The series was never good as a strictly comp shooter by itself. The pizazz made it great, but it’s been essentially removed
Damn you know you getting old when UA-camrs start referencing the early 2000s and saying they wasn’t born yet.
This is a very well made video, I hope you continue to make more in the future
Small indie devs competing against Medal of Honor? The original Cod devs CAME from from making Metal of Honor! All of the original 22 IW developers left 2015, Inc in 2002 after working on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and had financial backing from Activision right out of the gate.
mw2019 tight skillgap? people loved what it bring? whaaat? There is no skillgap in mw2019 mp 6vs6.
Great video! Black out also died due to no cross-play.
Wtf you only have 100 subs this was some high quality goodness
Yeah this is a new channel I started. I'm not new to youtube but I'm very new to this genre. I have an R6 channel called "Beastmodplayer" but I've never ventured out into video essay variety content like this so I'm happy you enjoyed 💙
Good video but 1080p or higher in the future, please
I aint gonna lie this was a 1080p video. But youtube for some reason never processed the HD version and idk why. I'll make sure to fix it going forward
@@BeastMod2I subbed bc you did such a great job bro
I wonder if the reason COD 4 was so good was because it was fresh, it was the first of its kind. If it came out today would it have been as big?
WARZONE HAS RUINED EVERYTHING!!!!!
I’ve been thinking of making a video exactly like this soon. I really think we all need to come together and start talking about how trash COD is now. We need to band together and push for changes against the developers. COD will die if they don’t change. I have high hopes for Gulf War though with Treyarch but we’ll see what happens
Im 35 yrs old . Golden eye is bare bones . Cod should stop stealing and innovative
what’s sad is that the mw3 trailer made me so hype because it sounded so promising through all the modes and stuff. super sad that they made their own downfall
It is depressing seeing what cod is nowadays knowing what it used to be
Great video. Subscribing
great vid bro keep it up
Thanks G will do 💙
If they had dedicated servers where you play with the same players and actually get know them will make a difference imo.
Great video, im excited to see what will you do in the future
I appreciate that mate! I look forward to releasing more stuff over the next few months 💙
A very well made video but nothing new was said here there are other youtubers who already spoke on this topic but keep it up
i know we have all been saying cod is dead but honestly....
its dead for good.
theres just so many underrated games on the rise that ive decided to delete all cods off my system.
besides theres democracy to be spread!
Born in 2000 and lucky enough to witnessed it all from the beginning playing cod 1 mp on dads pc, vividly remember the soviet harbour map
Also cod 2 big red one campaign is goated
I’m older then the call of duty franchise by 7 days. The first game game out of 10/29/03. I really thought it came out before I was born.
Well they still sell 20-30 million each year so it is not really a downfall. Everyone complains yet everyone buys them
And wrapping killstreaks 😢now just one set a life really holds the kills back KD EVERYTHING
Really making me feel old by saying most fans started with bo2 or bo3..
Good documentary. My favorite CoD is Advanced Warfare. Besides that supply drops.
Thats an interesting take. What leads you to that opinion?
@@BeastMod2 You have in Theory over 300 weapons. A lot of options. I know 80 % of that are the same as the base variant or worse, but you have at least 25 weapons that are good (not only the 3 meta weapons). You receive weapons by prestiging (16 to 30). You have customizable streaks, special map streaks. Great maps with unique flows. I love that movement, because you have a lot of opportunities to handle the situation. Pick 13 is better than Pick 10 in my opinion. I know the other side, lag issues as in the other game, but sadly even worse, supply drops with 2 pools (with different items, that means, if you still need parts of a set, you need to buy crates, because you won't get them in standard one) SBMM in the beginning, location issues.
Black ops 3 was goated only bad thing was campaign story but it was hella fun in coop
Bo3 Zombies was truly a master piece. If you didn't buy and play the DLC and have interest in zombies, you truly missed out.
Surprised BO3's Multiplayer and IW's Campaign was brushed aside in this video since they were quite well received by a decent amount of people.
after mw2 cod was trash for a decade then somehow a few legends from mw2 came back to make mw19 and that was the last true masterpiece of a cod like cod4 before it. So glad i came back for mw19 after all that time but it died right after again.
it starts when prestige mode didnt appeared at 2019..
It starts way before that lol
After Advanced Warfare I gave up on COD. the only game that brought me back was MW19. Which I enjoyed tremendously
CoD and United Offensive PC 64 player still holds up
Black ops 3 was the last COD i ever bought. It was clear after that it wasn't worth my time or money anymore and everything since then hasn't changed my mind
World War II as a setting wasn't overused, the Operation Overlord/Normandy D-Day and Western Front after 1944 was
That was the main criticism of CoD:WWII
I remember my dad getting it on disk for pc and i played it my self a little later on
Respect to any OGs out there who remember the golden years of COD. (MW2, Black Ops 1 & 2)
And for those who like the new ones and Warzone… you do you I guess…
Hearing the Actman on any video now gets me annoyed. After that bs he pulled off with Payday 3, where's the why Payday 3 is horrible video???
Corporations make sales. Indie devs make games. It's simple. They've been doing way before ps3. One of the components to that were: highly marketing on graphics(not only as selling point for the games, but each year to sell better video cards), then comes the fillers like QTE, and how scammy were those "your decision will decide where the story goes" which was never that exceptional as they made it seem like.
I was born in 1987 so my first call of duty was the Call of Duty 1-3 basically before MW and Black Ops.
I am a proud Black Ops 2 era COD player. Proud because I NEVER touched a COD game ever since.
Black ops 3 is one of the most beloved titles
Agreed. I love B03. I still go back to the zombies a few times a year
Him saying most of us probably weren't born makes me feel so damn old 😂
The original version 2003 CoD really was a big deal at the time. The weapons and gunplay felt so much better than anything else out at the time. I was 12 at the time and was completely obsessed.
I’ve played every CoD since and they’re still OK … but nothing will ever hit like the OG CoD and the original Modern Warfare.
Infinite warfare was my favourite playing it with my dad in split screen was so fun
The problem was, was that mw2 was the epitome of fps..... it had quick scoping, perfect running and sliding physics. And all the guns were very balanced. Maps were 10/10
The last CoD I played was CoD MW 2019. I think it’s time that the franchise goes on hiatus for a few years.
It’s crazy ghist came out when I was in 6 grade I remember getting that game for Christmas I’m 21 with a son now and just got off that mf 2 days ago woulda never thought
Blackout was amazing, would def play a remastered version instead of warzone
I never played it but I've heard from every person I've talked to that it was amazing
Cod is so trash now
Been like that for like 8 years now
Micro transactions weren't added to advanced warfare until the end of the games life cycle. You actually had to put many hours into the game In order to obtain all the good stuff. Like the steel bite speakeasy or insanity being my favorite.
So, I have noticed that you haven't been around since CoD1 through mw3 "remastered". My honest opinion about Call of Duty Ghost was that it worked so well, I highly enjoyed Extinction. The multi-player experience was amazing due to landing every bullet you shot on a player. No marshmallows. As for advanced warfare. I was a huge fan of a new way to play. The exotic suits made since and the movement was beyond sub-par. Obviously it was after those 2 games that bo3 came out and the cod franchise was doomed. Also infinite warfare being the better of 3 games and bo4 being worse than anything.
The last CoD game I bought was WWII and it was such a disappointment, last time I touched the series in general was MW2 Campaign Remastered back in 2020 because it was a PS Plus free game in August that year.
If you can’t beat a noob you can’t call yourself a “master “ of the game
They should have made call of duty 1 and 2 remastered for the 20 year anniversary. 1s story was ok but 2 was honestly one of my favorites.
I like the video, but some criticism I have is some of the timeline you use for reference is off and a there’s alot of bits and peace’s I wouldn’t say is exactly accurate and has some personal bias.
Vanguard was decent for me until they added that perk that let's you see ppl through walls. Like wtf😂
After watching this vid I feel like I need to go back and play Cold War since it seems like the last good “modern” Call of Duty. I got all of the achievements for the campaign & really enjoyed it but I stopped playing after since I was heavily into madden & fortnite at the time. Just based off the short amount of time that I did play all of its game modes, I would definitely say Cold War is a top 10 CoD all-time (#9 specifically)
Warzone was literally the downfall of cod and no one can tell me otherwise
Mw 2019 was absolutely amazing and brought the magic back. It pushed the fps gaming standard just like cod 4 did back in the day. I hope cod devs get their panties out their crack, and release another game like that. No more nicki minaj neon furries running around.
It went downhill when they started to care about warzone more than the actual multiplayer game. I miss Black Ops 1. One of the best cod games I ever played
