at the time if felt 5-7 years ahead of it's time. Now it seems like it was ahead for an undefined period since the industry took a nose dive and everything from 10-15 years ago feels like a groundbreaking masterpiece.
@@kirillholt2329 Thats why BF3, Black Ops 1 & 2 and Battlefield 1 are gaining more players now. Nobody wants to play these 100mph run and gun sweat simulators. We just want classic action.
@@kirillholt2329 BF3 is what killed the franchise. Run n gun mindless cod style gameplay. small maps, and a shit ton of features cut from BF2. What is it ahead of its time exactly? Its just cod with vehicles. No real battlefield fan liked it. Of course it got a lot of sales from cod fanboys who have no concept of teamplay.
They absolutely are arrogant. It's probably why 2042 doesnt get the changes it needs because the devs are too stubborn and arrogant to accept player feedback.
how have they fought against the community with 2042. Say what you want about 2042 but almost every update has been made to specifically address community complaints. You got better maps, balancing changes, spread changes, classes, etc.
Are you serious? BF3 campaign was notoriously bad, and even BF4, while better, was still pretty mediocre. Honestly only the Bad Company’s had good campaigns. But that’s okay, because BF3 is still my favorite in the series (although I love them all, from 1942 up till BF 1)
I actually feel really bad for some of the 2042 devs, imagine them playing bf3/4/1 as students and worked their ass up to join their dream franchise just to find out they're just working on slope
They are the devs that turned it into slop though. A lot of devs who are working with the frostbite engine now have no idea what they’re doing with it. It’s why 2042 development has been so slow.
Lmao do you think studios hire people who went to school? Most of the college educated coworkers I've worked with don't last long, or they are completely clueless and just lost, not knowing how to do the most basic of things... they do know all the useless terminology, however.
@@mitri5389 Because college students come out having this inflated ego and arrogance and likely haven't worked at all in the field they're trying to enter and it's a shame that they ruin the perception for everyone else. I'm facing the same thing in culinary school lol
from BF42 till BF3 (didn't play much of BF2 cause i was mostly playing Americas Army V1.65 until 2.85, then it turned to crap), i would have put an easy 10,000 hours into it [edit - BF3](same with AA), weekdays work, get home by 4pm game til 5:30AM, up at 7:30 work repeat till the weekend, then sat 24hours, sunday 18hours, did that for 2.5 years; Had jobs that were only 4 days; Starsiege Tribes, first time i played that it was a long weekend, so i played for 72 hour straight (minus food, toilet, coffee/water), i've been gaming for 26 years... Was really into Vietnam back in the day, so BF Vietnam and BC Vietnam were my jam... My reaction times are too slow now for FPS MP, playing Half-Life, the long dark, stranded deep, Generation Zero, homeworld and WH40k DoW1, trying to get back into Elite dangerous sigh atm, ...
Even with 25 minutes of shitting on BFV and BF2042, you missed a lot. BFV: The multiple incompetent weapon range changes, the lack of any anti-cheat (until just this week), DICE mocking players criticisms at launch party. BF2042: No scoreboard on launch, the delay of season 1, the "unreasonable expectations" tweet, no voip on launch, the stanta skin leak, "ahead of schedule", and about 20 types of common bug ranging from gameplay to audio to graphical.
No sorry kids, you had to be there for bf1942. BF3 was when they started to pivot the series to be a direct competitor to CoD and every other multiplayer FPS on the market. People were stoked for BF3 because it was a return to a classic especially in light to some of the things in MW2 (eg dedicated servers, laying off the original devs of CoD4) rather than new innovation. BF1942 and it’s mod, desert combat, are pretty janky but really were something new. It really felt like a sandbox to play in rather than the tailored and managed experience designed to hook even the most ADHD addled brain so they can get the largest market share.
I can’t describe the depressing/saddening feeling when I loaded into bf 2042 and just realized how ass that game was and how different it felt compared to games before
Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 are still active. I play on Series X, backwards compatible, and I can play on a Wednesday at 4AM and still have full servers.
All last gen games are compatible with the current gen. They're technically the same family. It's not backwards compatibility per se. Backwards compatibility means Xbox and Xbox 360 era or PS3, PS2, PS1 era games.
I think all my favorite shooter franchises have died at this point. DICE is incompetent and Battlefield sucks, COD is completely and utterly soulless, and 343 still doesn't know how to make a Halo game after more than 10 years. Casual multiplayer is dead
Now it’s all scammy, the 12+ old COD games still cost $60 on steam, all the new games are released with barely any content, they’re all cash grabs, all stuffed with garbage DEI bullshit, buggy messes, 150GB downloads, etc
@@the_jones528yup, it was superb, man i never enjoyed beta of any game that much But when the game fully came out, they changed the speed of the game which they fixed in a week, but then the main problem came Hackers🤦the anti cheat till this date is trash, i had to leave the game 😢it became unplayable. Me too. The ending message was just something I wanted to say because it’s how I felt with Battlefield. I also wanted to point out that the message wasn’t just for Battlefield, it’s for other games and franchises too.
@@pleasureslave6473 you’re absolutely right, but I was worried the video would get too long and it would discourage people from watching. Now that I think about it, I should’ve just spoke about it! 🙃
It's kinda sad because it's not only Battlefield that is like this. Almost everything in life works that way. Enjoy the things you enjoy for the time you can until they are over...
If they would remaster it, it would be bad. Diversty BS, gender BS, pol. correctness BS, Skin BS and Challanges BS. Keep BF3 as a good game in your mind.
What’s so sad to me is that battlefield portal had insane potential, just to see it go to waste :(. Honestly they could release an battlefield portal standalone game and build upon it with maps/weapons/assets from all throughout the franchise, would be so cool!
They just bended and tried to make Call of Duty: Vehicles! My other favorite franchise was Ghost Recon. GRAW 2 was an amazing game, but the next release after they decided to make a weird ass CO-OP game with if I remember correctly a max of 8 VS. 8 in the PVP part. Totally ridiculous, I haven’t bought a Tom Clancy game since.
I think sometimes it isn't always the "nostalgia goggles", games such as BFBC2 and BF3 just had so much more care, time and effort put into them that they still outshine what's coming out currently, like a timeless work of art. I played BFBC2 until the servers shut down and uninstalled MW2(2022) and still boot up WaW to unwind after studying.
It is weird as fuck to hear people call those ones nostalgic. I can understand people feeling that way about BF 1942 and BF 2, but BC2 and 3? Like, those are the new ones to me lol. That’s Frostbite era, with its amazing graphics, War Tapes sound, and destruction.
@@UnchainedEruptionyeah that’s because you’re a boomer. People who played BF3 as kids are in their mid 20s now. A game that released 12 years ago isn’t “new”
At the time I didn’t think it was necessary because of how old the games were. But now the videos out and I saw someone actually comment on that, I realised I should’ve just done it. RIP to those games 🪦
@@snzr my question remains, about the reason as to why? My thought, is so older fans come to newer or something. Also sweet baby inc, has creativd control and leading design for the games, so that's something
EA is just pure greed. Obviously keeping the older games running costs them money and if they're not making profits from it, just kill it. Which is worrying because BF3 could be next. And that game is on life support. Essentially dead on PC and on console.@@littlegamingj2003
I love how you mentioned that friendships and rivalries were made in bf3. I became part of the 1v1 jet dogfight community where we would rent servers solely for dogfighting and we would all compete to see who was the best pilot, and this created friendships and rivalries we still have to this day. This game really did have something for everyone. Excellent video snzr!
I heard about those kinda servers on Xbox. Jets were so hard back then, I actually respected people who were insane in jets, it’s really hard to master!
@@snzr They were actually much easier than they are now, jets are nerfed to the ground and near-useless in 2042. In BF3 a good jet pilot would single-handedly kill every vehicle on the enemy team
I'm still friends with someone I met in BF3 to this day. We were both 14-15 years old at the time. We had sniper duals on Caspian Border. After years of being friends, we still keep in touch. We call each other every once in a while to catch up.
Playing BF3, every match felt like you were taking part in an actual war. Every teammate's actions played into the greater objective, and the moments when you got into a team that ran like clockwork made fight for the victory all the more exhilarating.
Bf 3 or 1 just felt like playing a game version of Black Hawk Down or Dunkirk, while Bf 2042 felt like a generic game adaption of what Fast and Furious 25 would look like
Battlefield veteran here. Sad to see how EA killed my favourite franchise by trying to cater to an audience that does not even care about it. Nice video mate
It started dying when they started catering to consoles. Has nothing to do with all that culture war nonsense you are blabbering about. The games suck now because DICE + EA only care about money.
@@Red_Lion2000 what you on about mate? All companies just care about money it's a business after all. Culture war? Did i mention that? I‘m still sad that bf1 didn‘t have a dedicated ww1 sever, only boltaction rifles and other accurate weapons. Would‘ve made for a completely different game
They did, Back to Basics mode. It was incredible. Standard rifles and map weapons only. In hardcore with no hud it was insane. Trench whistles blaring, mass bayonet charges with the explosions from the field guns all around. Literal chills.
I mean there were machine guns in WW1 actually plenty. Many were used near the end of the war like the BAR but guns like the Chauchat, Lewis Gun, Maxim gun, Hotchkiss, etc. Realistically the only guns that shouldnt be there are sub machine guns.
@@SauceyFredonot everyone was running around with submachine guns and nearly no one except officers carried pistols. Some of the bolt actions don’t even make sense historically. Half of all snipers I get killed by are using the rolling block rifle for example. Why does an American have a carcano rifle?
@@SauceyFredoa vast majority of medic class guns don’t make any sense either. They’re mostly experimental self loading rifles that were never adopted or manufactured.
Frankly, devs today fucking suck. It's time to call a spade a spade. People will commonly say that we shouldn't blame the devs because x reason, it's just a cop out. BF3 came out a year and a half after BFBC2 and managed to not be bugged to absolute shit. There is no genuine reason why in the three years between BF5 and BF2042 that the dev team couldn't make a game that was playable. Content is one thing, and gaming has been suffering from that greed up top for a good decade at this point; however, in the past few years pretty much all AAA titles release basically unplayable. Not going to get into the reasons on why devs today are terrible, but fuck me AAA gaming has been starved of good devs for a very long time now.
This is due to a mentality shift in the industry. Its no longer seen as profitable to maintain experienced employees long term. Employees are hired mostly on a temporary bases for a single project. As a result, they are working with essentially no experience with a given franchise/project/team. The reason execs are doing this is because new hires are cheaper than senior employees. And they've realized people will buy games regardless of their quality so they don't need to care about that.
@@Erowens98 That is also a very good point. Plenty of good examples of long time devs being cast aside for newbies that do one game on a temp contract. Combine that with the, in my humble opinion, slipping standards for said new devs. This is essentially a recipe for disaster. But at the end of the day, people still buy their shit games so it looks on the up and up to the people at the top, sadly.
@@JoeyMace28 yeah, i do wonder whether or not the slipping standards where inevitable. Go back a decade or two, most programmers and game designers where massive nerds doing what they did out of passion. But at some point people started to see that programmers where making more than any other subset of engineering. An entry level programmer was making what mid level mechEs where making for example. Which inevitably attracts people who where "just after a degree" and chose "the best one". Obviously these people are never gonna be as good as those with passion.
What's sad about BatV is it had the potential to be brilliant - it had such attention to detail such as soldiers running differently in shallow water and players becoming dirty, brilliant levelution in that every building could be destroyed, butter smooth movement, great team aspects such as squad points & squad call-ins and being able to heal your squad regardless of class, an amazing soundtrack, vehicles which felt weighty, wide variety of map biomes. The game now is heaps of fun.
I’d argue it IS brilliant, most people playing it have put in like hundreds of hours into it it me included, it may not be as great as bf1 but bfv is still very fun you know even if it has its problems and even if it wasn’t finished, it’s a banger game that a lot of people enjoy, I know this because I’m on the game a lot and I do see a lot of people on it lol, most of them have been playing the game for a while now to, again sure it may not be as great as bf1 but the servers on the game are still very much active and I will honestly say I do kinda prefer the gunplay in bfv over the majority of the other battlefield games Specifically talking about the newest bf5 build, pacific war and all, if you mean launch I can’t really state anything about that I never really played it on launch, and also assuming by BatV you mean bfv lol
They should have continued improving BF5 rather than launch BF2042. Bring in Russian factions, Italian Campaigns and add famous battles etc. It could have been great.
Not going to spend money on them after the crap they pulled. Actions since then have proven that they’re just incompetent or lazy so I’m glad I haven’t given them any money since BF1
I'll never forget my time in BF3, my God those were the days.. When I first heard of battlefield it was from the BF3 beta. At that time, I was a diehard COD fan with thousands of shotgun kills in og MW2 & MW3. When the BF3 beta dropped I picked it up and was absolutely HOOKED. I played the beta like it was crack cocaine, I COULDNT put it down. When it ended it genuinely changed my perception of FPS shooters. I was there for the release and playing that game with my baby brother will forever be one of the fondest memories of my highschool years.
I want to share my journey with Battlefield series. I started online gaming with MW2 and loved it! Blackops1 and Blackops2 made my heart melt when it comes to gaming. One day, I bought my first ever HD TV and got a copy of Battlefield3 for free with my TV. I expected nothing of it as all my friends trash talked the game. I remember my first ever match... It was on Noshar Canals.. I literally screames and felt overwhelmed by how AWESOME the game was!! I never played cod again after that day. I am absolutely heartbroken with the series after Battlefield 1.
Just noticed in the BF3 trailer and older, there were barely any changes between the trailer and the release gameplay. Really get that you see, they need to get back to where they once were.
BF 1 is the last great one. BF V though isn't as bad as the reputation it earned. Much of that was from the awful trailers that showed a woke WW2. The game itself didn't do much good--most new changes sucked--but it has enough of the old formula in there that the game itself is still alright, even if not the best Battlefield. It was supposed to be the worst, but 2042 makes it look brilliant by comparison.
@@UnchainedEruption being fair yea. the marketing, PR, and how disrespectful the inaccuracies are overshadows the gameplay. i like BFV w/ the most overlook movement "crouch run" that minimize player's silhouette, and literally made "ground cover" to exist in a game. heavily ideal in pacific maps.
Man I wanted to cry. The best I ever was at a video game was battlefield bad company 2. I was top 100 for a couple months. Proudest moment and I loved that game. It was team effort, fun to play and I met tons of cool people.
Haha! At least you still get to play the game. Meanwhile Rockstar literally scammed gamers by releasing individual re masters of GTA 3, Vice City, and SA only to say fuck people who only got *one* title alone and RE-RELEASE the trilogy collection like that didn't fucking happen.
My buddy booted the game up day 1 on his pc a 2080 super and an 8 core processor, runs every other game like a champ. we were so excited to play until we were met with an unplayable lagtastic ugly mess even on potato low settings. Checked all drivers of course that had to be the issue nope everything was updated. Rebooted hopped in a different game nope. Total time in game…less than 15 minutes before we requested a refund.
@@LayzeeJay ya PlayStation honored refunds too because it was unplayable. The PlayStation store even took it off to buy for awhile. Pathetic. That franchise is done. Trust me, the next one will suck too. I just tried their free trial just for the hell of it. Ya they fixed a lot of the issues, took them two years, but the maps are still trash, and so is the game
The move from bf3/4 into 1/5 was terrible. From great weapon customization with detailed maps, to everyone using the same naked gun with less mechanics. What made people think “lets go to WW1, people love those games”. Thanks for immersing tons of fans into the modern timeline war/shooting games just to kill them off by switching to timelines we moved past. (My opinion, not everyone will agree)
I love the service star system, I have not forgotten it. I mentioned it in newer videos that it’s something DICE need to bring back with leaderboards. I think T1 system was good because it rewards free skins, so why not have both? 😀
I don't think it's too unreasonable to ask for a modern BF3-like game. It is still great to play but it's showing its age, and there is definitely demand for it in the community. They don't have to keep trying to re-invent the wheel or chasing industry trends when they have a guaranteed working formula right in their hands. Just give us similar gunplay, similar map design (or just remaster old maps), similar vehicle mechanics, modern graphics and a solid roster of at least 15 maps at launch.
BF2 is where the series ACTUALLY peaked, only real ones will understand modern combat + bad company were a step in the wrong direction that all of the later games followed
Battlefield 2142 was AMAZING. I cannot stress how fun Titan Mode was. Two massive air carriers doing battle. You capture conquest style positions that control missiles that attack the enemys carrier, damaging its shield. Once the enemy shield is depleted, you can board it and fight your way to the core, setting charges and blowing it up. I played DAYS and DAYS of this game mode.
In my opinion, BF4 was my favourite. I have so many fond memories of jet ramming, C4 buggy, C4 jumps, and trolling with friends. I also think it’s a hot take to say it has my favourite maps in the series. Despite some being not as remarkable, I think they all did their job at being unique and featuring a different play style. Zavod was the small map, Dawnbreaker was the linear map, Operation Locker was the infantry map, Golmud was the vehicle map, Parcel Storm was the island hopping and water map, Rouge Transmission was the “big” map, the dam map had an interesting layout, and Shanghai (and Dawnbreaker) were the city maps with Hainan being the mix of all map. That’s why BF4 will always remain my favourite shooter in history.
Maybe it’s time to quit gaming hahaha No I’m just kidding. As a console player this sucks a lot but on pc you have sooo many alternatives, that’s crazy!
@@venjo986 Ehhh I wouldn't quit console entirely tbh, the Japanese developers like FromSoft, Nintendo, even Capcom, Sega and Square Enix still pump out amazing titles like Street Fighter 6, Armored Core 6, Tears Of The Kingdom, FF16 and the 7 Remakes and the Yakuza series, there's also the indie devs and occasionally you'll get the multiplayer games that are actually fun like Helldivers or The Finals
Nope, thats not only EA that would be to easy. Dice is completly out of touch and has no good devs anymore. They are all long gone and they are working on other project outside of Dice
I’ll give BFV one thing, and that’s my opinion that “The Last Tiger” was one of the best pieces of storytelling in the entire franchise. I’m sure there’s inaccuracies in it, but the overall story and the darkness of it all was superb.
@@regularguy2807 you missed the point then. By the end of the war they’ve seen thru the lies of the Nazi Party. They just bombed the bridge with them on it and stranded them behind enemy lines. They hung his young loader for deserting when he was doing his duty, a boy way too young to fight. He saw the civilians dying by the hundreds in cologne, despite the military claiming all of them had been evac’d. Müller realized that they meant nothing to the regime they fought and died for. He lost his faith in his country, hence why he discarded his iron cross. There is no retreat, they are quite literally stranded and surrounded.
Hardline was actually good and gets to much hate for no reason, what other game offers cops and robbers in a grand scale where firing RPG's at moving cars from other cars is the most normal thing!? sure it aint no military shooter but it wasnt trying to be. what happened to BFV and 2042 though...now that deserves the hate, how did we go from the marketing being the reason not to buy, and now the marketing being a true battlefield and the game itself being anything but a true battlefield
First Battlefield game I played was 1943. It was a 1 or 2 hour demo and I fell in love. Unfortunately it was the last day of summer vacation and my day refused to buy it. Eventually I got it and then moved on the Bad Company 2 and I was dedicated to the franchise until 2042. Made so many friends along the way and I’ll be forever grateful. Great video memorializing the franchise. Hopefully this era of battlefield will be a thing of the past but I doubt it.
I agree with most points made. After MW19 came out I didn’t really play BF5 much anymore. Battlefield up until that point always felt like it had the best graphics and animations over cod but now it’s the other way around which is kind of sad.
Yeah I feel the same. BF1 beat CoD IW in 2016, then in 2019 things changed and CoD MW beat BF5 in pretty much everything. Now they both fail, MW3 is a failure and BF2042 is boring and unplayable. I just hope they get it together, but so much talent left BF recently.
Just had a look at 2042 and the first thing I saw was an add on that cost £17.99. Not for a load of maps, just a few shitty costumes and a load of tat. That's what it's come to now, just a vehicle to sell you a load of crap. Shame.
Great video but why is it that everyone always fails to acknowledge how bf1s life cycle literally signaled what was to come with the franchise. That game had us waiting 6 months for the first expansion, broken weapons, and overall poor communication from dice. A lof of the problems listed in bf5 literally started in bf1. Its frustrating that people really gloss over that.
Listen as someone who has played battlefield as their main game since 1942, I won’t defend battlefield V too much, but saying the gunplay wasn’t good because of random recoil is hilarious. Random bullet deviation from BF4 (and 2042 for some time) makes for some of the most frustrating gunplay ever. BFV guns at least shoot where the sights are…That was the main reason dice said they increased the TTK for the first time, new players were getting destroyed by long time battlefield and FPS players and they even said it was causing new players to leave. BFV and BF3 have the best gunplay in the series and I hope they never return to random bullet spread like they did with 2042 on launch. I will agree with you though that BF3 is the best in the series, truly a worthy successor to BF2
I played the Hardline Beta for about 40 hours when it was out. There were three maps iirc, those being Dust Bowl, Downtown and Bank Job. One thing I remember from the Beta vs Retail version was the progression was very noticably downgraded and the game felt way more grindy, I think the battlepacks literally went up in price 10x. I personally loved every second of the Beta, some very fond memories there, I actually still have a handful of videos from it on my channel.
Delta force with ex DICE devs working on it and CoD adding destruction are the last nails for the BF franchise coffin. And like you said BF WAS a good franchise. RIP 🙏🏻. Great video bro. BF3 BF4 will live forever in my heart ❤️
This video blows my mind. This is exactly what I was searching for, that nobody else could articulate as well. Amazing delivery, research, information, history, videos, etc. You are severely underrated. I'd say you're up there with JackFrags in my book for sure. Can't wait to see more battlefield content!!! Subscribed.🎉
Just remember that during 2042’s entire existence JackFrags has released a video every 2 weeks titled either “2042 is fixed now” or “2042 is finally good”.
Great video, think you should definitely stick to making more videos like this in the future mate! Bc2/BF3 made me fall in love with Battlefield and 2042 has made that love dwindle
I love bf. I remember the first time I switched from cod to bf, and i told myself that I would never go back to CoD again with games like bf3. Bf1 is still imo, the best bf game out of the past 15 years. The immersion, the gore, the movement gameplay graphics soundtrack god, what a fucking game!
For the people commenting that I missed this and that, the point of the video was to quickly summarise the biggest games in the franchise. If you’re annoyed that I missed your favourite game, I’m sorry about that 😢 this wasn’t a history video of battlefield, I spoke about the old games to remind people how great it used to be before I completely ruin the mood by reminding you that 2042 exists. Thanks to all the amazing comments! Please read them yourselves as some people have some interesting information down there about Battlefield! P.S I occasionally stream, you should come hang out some time!
not sure if i missed it, but bf4 had much more "detail map design" that convinced you you are in a battefiled, where as BF2042 had unbelievably sterile maps (supposedly in an utopic future). Also, i see way more "meaningful" building destruction in BF4 than in BF2042. First and last pre-order for me for sure. And I really need conving to go back to BF. I rather play BF4 while i still can.
No worries man! Great video. UA-cam seldom has people making quality gaming content like you did with this video. And I happen to agree with you completely in you overall analysis. I hadn't even thought about what felt different between Battlefield 3 and 4, but seeing your video made me remember how much I loved BF3. Found this video because I was looking for what BF game to play in 2024, and you really made me dodge some bullets (no pun intended). So I just bought BF 1 :)
It had more to do with the entire vibe of the game rather then historical inaccuracies. A game doesn't need to be and honestly can't be 100% historically accurate. And that's fine. As long as the vibe and feel is right. In bf1, the vibe was just right. In bf5, it wasn't.
@@SleepySoviet and you completely missed my point. Yes it was far from a authentic ww1 experience like beyond the wire or isonzo. But again, the vibe was right. The music. Ambience, colour patterns, art style everything came together to create a incredible feel. Bf5 failed to do that. Bf5 wasn't a bad game. But it just didn't have a vibe at all. It was just a game nothing more nothing less.
@@rusi6219 that's bs. There was not. Besides a few questions about some historical inaccuracies, there was no uproar. Bf1 had massive hype behind it because cod was failing horribly at the time with their advanced warfare bs wich people were tired off.
2042 gutted the social features, chat taken away, no servers, no platoons, not even persistent lobbies. I made many friends from BF4 back in the day, even just starting out as killing eachother in a pub match and ending up on TeamSpeak together. I still talk to these friends today, nearly a decade later. The new game just does not let you do this easily, it’s almost ashamed of the idea that you can communicate.
@@david_escalante dont get me wrong, having fresh faces in lobbies has its perks to a degree, but it is so limited. To this day I can join a BF4 locker server and say hello, and I get 3-7 responses from familiar faces, even if we aren't friends, its a community. Maybe even just having a server to play 3 rounds with the same folks and you end up talking more and making friends from funny run ins or situations. When 2042 launched I remember a Sundance landing on my jet, staring at me before the roadkill happened, and I was laughing my butt off but there was zero way to use all chat to talk about it or just share the moment. The fact it came back and is turned off by default is sad, some folks aren't even aware it is an option.
Very well spoken and explained, detailed and informative review of what has happened to the franchise. Kudos really enjoyed this - coming from an older gamer who played BF 1942 and desert combat mod and over 6k hrs in BF2
Thank you for the feedback man. I apologise for speaking way to fast in this video lmao. I have learned from my mistakes and I take my time now. My later video essay has much improved!
One bit of critical info you missed about 2042 was the game was originally being made as a Battle Royale only game, hence why we got 128p, way too big and open maps, specialists etc etc. Pretty sure it was confirmed by an insider at EA, and generally easy to speculate given the layout of the game.
@snzr Yup, to make it worse with Hazard Zones fail too 💀💀. I remember seeing Tom Henderson tweet about it, DICE scrapped and re built 2042 over a year into development or something.
Like how 343 said the only BR theyre interested in is thr Battle rifle and yet they just released a battle royale game mode just like they always intended to do but lied through their teeth just like a crooked politician. Im done with modern gaming.
@@Red_Lion2000 of course using transport vehicles should be encouraged, but where 2042 went wrong was doubling the size of the maps to accommodate 128 players, so the distance between spots was bigger resulting in too much open space, hence why they had to spend an entire year reworking all the maps. Maps like Hourglass, Renewal and DIscarded were atrocious on Conquest, even riding around in vehicles felt slow. At least maps like Golmud on BF4 and Galicia on BF1, riding in transport vehicles you could at least still find an enemy or 2 going from flag to flag, pre map updates on 2042 it was crickets half the time, it's still now not what it could be. DICE should have made all the maps 64p size and treat 128 as a chaotic mode like Cod used to do with ground war back in the day. making the maps 128p standard was one of the biggest mistakes DICE did which caused 80% of 2042s issues. There's a reason why most of the playerbase hate the maps, just poorly designed.
Hi, I just wanted to offer some constructive criticism: I need you to slow down a little. It’s ok if this video went on to an hour and a half, or even split into two parts if needed, but the entire time was it was like you were speedrunning the script for no real apparent reason, but your script was also riddled with some pretty basic hyperbole “it’s the best of the this” “this was bad” and lots of personal interjections and feelings during section of fact discussion (just have a better distinction between the two, separated into their own little buckets of timestamps, it’ll flow nicer and have a better overall feel). Keep it up, there’s makings of something special with the channel, I can feel it
My thoughts are almost identical on so many ways here. There must be many battlefielders that have been around since bad company who feel the same. You hit the nail on the head.
With the recent fallout about the works of these creative consulting firms like SBI, we now begin to understand why in BF5 a strong, powerful disabled woman was showed into a WWII front line for absolutely no reason at all. That BF5 as was also the definitive mark where players would realize the best days for BF are over.
Talking about the nostalgia from BF3 almost made me tear up. I know that sounds stupid to care that much about a video game but all the things that they took from us that we can never get back. That was the first battlefield game I got really good at, played with top players and really thought it meant something. We’ll never get to experience Noshahr Canals again, never get to play knife only, never be able to main the little bird or any vehicle and get 100 service star tags again also preventing players from taking those tags from us, never be able to experience the rage mail again because people cared so much about the game. Us Battlefield 3 enthusiasts have been forgotten about since Battlefield 4 and it truly hurts my soul. I wish we could all go back but it’s too late now. To all my Battlefield 3 OG’s I love you all♥ -from Swift Evil1 (BF3)
Swift Evil1 I saw you sometimes on Xbox back in the day! Small world. BF3 on the Xbox had a great community back in the day. It was small, only a few thousand, but most people knew each other, which made the lobbies way more fun to play in. I’m pretty sure you used to hang with Carlos Evil1 right? Those were days!
@@snzr that’s so funny! What a small world and you’re right for sure it was a smaller community but was still pretty big for what it was. What was your gamertag back then? Carlos Evil1 was my homie I ended up becoming one of his platoon leaders but I played a lot with He Who Stabs U, INC x Godz, Mind Shift, OpticTr0ller, Valen, FiftyCow96, Estee McCrawly and soooo many others. It brings back so many memories going through my battle log from back then and im surprised that website is even still up. Maybe we can re live it once again someday
Yeah I remember inc x gods and fifty cow. You’ll probably won’t recognise me but I used the gamertag Dr Desura for the longest time, I unfortunately lost all the progress on that account because I stupidly unlinked the account, I was the dude at 13:03 minutes knifing. I had 40k knife kills on that account 🥺. Inc x Gods is the guy that got me into knife only. I was in his clan 1V1 too, but never actually joined the platoon because I couldn’t access my Battlelog. I still remember a lot of the OGs, Rejectify, Colonel Flunky, ZINDRO, iyn2010, Valen the man01, smokabowlftp, DRUNK ACORN, ASIAN Burnt Guy and so many others. Great times, no other Battlefield came close for me.
@@snzr That’s awesome inc was a great friend of mine back then so we definitely played together! I blanked on Valens full name but just remembered it was like ValenTheMan or something like that he was the one who got me into knife only and it my love for that mode began there after a 1v1 with him. I definitely do remember Dr Desura though that name sounds so familiar! If you were anything like me I spent countless hours in knife only lobbies after I got bored of everything else and most people we played with moved on to other games. I truly wish we could get a battlefield 3 remaster and I believe that would be the best thing for the franchise. Only if we recorded UA-cam videos back then man a lot of big UA-camrs started on battlefield 3 like JayzTwoCents and I believe JackFrags, maybe even levelcap too. Life would be so much better to have a career just playing video games for a while that’s what I wanted so badly. What games are you playing nowadays? I play on pc and I got into 2042 at the start I have some youtube videos on this account but I quickly quit that game and play other games now I got into racing simulators and rocket league for a while but I haven’t played shooters since the beginning of 2042 really. Add me on discord! My username is pak_u. lol
@@snzr I forgot to click read more on your comment before I typed that though you named valen before it even came back to my mind! That’s so funny fifty cow was also. Another close buddy of mine and I did end up joining the 1v1 platoon on battlelog im still in it now when I checked my battlelog last night. I also remember Rejectify, Colonel Flunky and ASIAN Burnt Guy lmaoo you had way more knife kills than me though I got to 11k and then stopped. I feel the same way no other battlefield has come close and bf4 was a huge disappointment to me when they added knifing from the front and nobody understood it that didn’t knife in bf3
In school I had to save up and pay for my own online service, buy my systems and games. I was on CoD for the longest time so I was late to BF3. But played a small bit and loved it. BF4 I had no life lol and BF1 I had no life. Cried a little when they dropped the ball with my favorite era, WW2.
i used to have the discs from BF1942 till BF3 after what they did to BF5 i threw them out never to touch BF again (miss the Vietnam editions, BC2 and BF3 alot)...

Besides DICE's incompetency and tone deafness, I would also add their arrogance. Ever since BF5, they fought against their community
They absolutely are arrogant. It's probably why 2042 doesnt get the changes it needs because the devs are too stubborn and arrogant to accept player feedback.

To be fair, I think that was EA who said, “Don’t like it? Don’t buy it!” to which Battlefield fans said, “Sure thing!”

What’s so sad to me is that battlefield portal had insane potential, just to see it go to waste :(. Honestly they could release an battlefield portal standalone game and build upon it with maps/weapons/assets from all throughout the franchise, would be so cool!
They really should've committed fully to either 2042 or Portal, not split up their resources between the two.

Companies hire incompetent people who barely get any work done and who can be paid less, the drop in quality is not surprising whatsoever.
@@dkkanofkash8798 Far from surprising tbh. It’s a damn shame.
I’d argue it IS brilliant, most people playing it have put in like hundreds of hours into it it me included, it may not be as great as bf1 but bfv is still very fun you know even if it has its problems and even if it wasn’t finished, it’s a banger game that a lot of people enjoy, I know this because I’m on the game a lot and I do see a lot of people on it lol, most of them have been playing the game for a while now to, again sure it may not be as great as bf1 but the servers on the game are still very much active and I will honestly say I do kinda prefer the gunplay in bfv over the majority of the other battlefield games

The game itself didn't do much good--most new changes sucked--but it has enough of the old formula in there that the game itself is still alright, even if not the best Battlefield. It was supposed to be the worst, but 2042 makes it look brilliant by comparison.
I think you should get a new friend
@@UnchainedEruption being fair yea. the marketing, PR, and how disrespectful the inaccuracies are overshadows the gameplay. i like BFV w/ the most overlook movement "crouch run" that minimize player's silhouette, and literally made "ground cover" to exist in a game. heavily ideal in pacific maps.
BF3 and BF4 are amazing. But BF1 frontlines with no time limit truly was different. multiple hour matches felt like wars
Man I wanted to cry. The best I ever was at a video game was battlefield bad company 2. I was top 100 for a couple months. Proudest moment and I loved that game. It was team effort, fun to play and I met tons of cool people.
epic, only reached 247, though i was playing on U.S servers with a ping of 350-500( long way from Australia ;D )....
I was so hyped for Battlefield 2042 just to get scammed out of $80 pretty much
Haha! At least you still get to play the game. Meanwhile Rockstar literally scammed gamers by releasing individual re masters of GTA 3, Vice City, and SA only to say fuck people who only got *one* title alone and RE-RELEASE the trilogy collection like that didn't fucking happen.
This is why I haven't bought a new game at launch since BF3
Ya I bought a PS5 just for BF 2042 release. Just to buy for a game that was unplayable. The game is still terrible
Pandering, Micro transactions, Never ending reboots. The three things that have killed modern gaming
"Bring the T1 system back" People have just forgotten about service stars, huh?
Exactly that. It’s really simple to do well with the next game. The game needs exactly what you just said, as well as load of day one content.
Pretty sure if all else fails and they just can’t for the life of themselves think of anything new they could probably remaster the old games
Add a captivating and motivating Progression and I'm all sold 😍💯
to be honest if they tried to remake it would be half funded and probaly just fuck it up
Battlefield 2... What a banger. Still play it daily after almost 20 years ;)
The amount of crazy mods for singleplayer still blows my mind
@@garrettjones9549 They made a complete Star Wars game out of BF 1942.
BF2 is something special
BF2 is where the series ACTUALLY peaked, only real ones will understand
modern combat + bad company were a step in the wrong direction that all of the later games followed
Yeah, BF2 was great. LAN-party and BF2 baby
Wait this video have less than 1k views???? Holy you really made some high quality stuff. Hope you can make it big in the future, very nice work tho
Thanks mate, I really appreciate that!
That’s why BF4 will always remain my favourite shooter in history.
the gaming industry as a whole has massively declined and the franchises we love are damaged beyond recognition.
Maybe it’s time to quit gaming hahaha
No I’m just kidding.
EA ruins everythijg
Nope, thats not only EA that would be to easy. Dice is completly out of touch and has no good devs anymore. They are all long gone and they are working on other project outside of Dice
Mostly Dice
Yeah and ubishit also
I know it is hard to imagine but not everything is EA's fault
I’ll give BFV one thing, and that’s my opinion that “The Last Tiger” was one of the best pieces of storytelling in the entire franchise. I’m sure there’s inaccuracies in it, but the overall story and the darkness of it all was superb.
AGREED.
Nothing is cooler than last stands and tanks. A formula that always hits
Nah the ending sucked it should've been Mueller telling the others and fighting the Americans till he dies so that his crew can retreat.
What lies, and he understood that he is nothing in army with millions of soldiers? No shit i dont understand endind@@joshazie5296
Bf3 was insane, but the transition from bad company to bf3 was insane
Great video bro. its Kush Soup btw. this hit me in the feels i miss bf3 and playing knife only
Respect brother, you’re an OG!
I never got to play that one! I’m sure it was great! Thanks for watching

Salute to all my Bad Company 2 and BF3 veterans, these new kids have no idea what we went through. Those were the good days. Cheers 🍻
Great video! I started playing battlefield bad company in the Xbox 360 days, I can still hear the menu music in my head. Gosh I miss those days.
Great game for the time!
Those were the days my man!!!
Had so many good memories playing BF3 with my buddy….we would get in the attack chopper every chance we got and just murder the whole enemy team.
Attack Heli on Rush Kharg Island was lethal mate 😂
was watching this, not expecting to see myself at 4:25 absolutely dome someone with the rocket😂😂 appreciate you crediting peoples gameplay man
Youre welcome man, I tried my best to credit everyone!
I was referring to the first beta, I’m pretty sure that one only had downtown.
@@snzr Ah, the closed one. Never played that one so you're probably right.
Delta force with ex DICE devs working on it and CoD adding destruction are the last nails for the BF franchise coffin.
And like you said BF WAS a good franchise. RIP 🙏🏻.
Great video bro.
BF3 BF4 will live forever in my heart ❤️
EA: “Either accept it or don’t buy this game.”
Everyone: OK!
This video blows my mind. This is exactly what I was searching for, that nobody else could articulate as well. Amazing delivery, research, information, history, videos, etc.
You are severely underrated. I'd say you're up there with JackFrags in my book for sure. Can't wait to see more battlefield content!!!

I’m glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Just remember that during 2042’s entire existence JackFrags has released a video every 2 weeks titled either “2042 is fixed now” or “2042 is finally good”.
He’s a shill
Great video, think you should definitely stick to making more videos like this in the future mate! Bc2/BF3 made me fall in love with Battlefield and 2042 has made that love dwindle
Once the next games out and it’s good, we’ll all forget about 2042!
You don't have anything to apologize for. You made a great video. There's no way to please everyone.
not sure if i missed it, but bf4 had much more "detail map design" that convinced you you are in a battefiled, where as BF2042 had unbelievably sterile maps (supposedly in an utopic future). Also, i see way more "meaningful" building destruction in BF4 than in BF2042. First and last pre-order for me for sure. And I really need conving to go back to BF. I rather play BF4 while i still can.

I hadn't even thought about what felt different between Battlefield 3 and 4, but seeing your video made me remember how much I loved BF3. Found this video because I was looking for what BF game to play in 2024, and you really made me dodge some bullets (no pun intended). So I just bought BF 1 :)
Nice intro, but couldn't you have just used BF3 main-theme music? (a honest question) starting at ~42sec
The graphics in bf3 at the time were nuts.
Always amuses me to no end that people complained about bf5 being inauthentic to the time period but ignored bf1 being just as inaccurate
It had more to do with the entire vibe of the game rather then historical inaccuracies. A game doesn't need to be and honestly can't be 100% historically accurate. And that's fine. As long as the vibe and feel is right. In bf1, the vibe was just right. In bf5, it wasn't.
@@direct2397 bf1 had nothing to do with ww1. It was a ww2 shooter wearing a ww1 skin
There was massive outrage about bf1 as well idk what you people are talking about
@@rusi6219 that's bs.
There is discord. I made more friends on 2042 that I ever did on BF4, 1 and 5.
Also because thankfully there is no server browser

2042 DIDNT EVEN HAVE A SCOREBOARD FOR MONTHS
I wasn't aware of that. That makes a lot of sense. Guess that's what they get for chasing trends 💀
Big maps were the only good part about the game, you actually need to use transport vehicles like in the classic BF games.
Pair the "what a time to be alive" ad with the dima ending cutscene in BF3
underrated channel
Man BF3 was soooo good. I remember shooting the most absurd shots of my life with the M98B across the map… you had to be there…
Hi, I just wanted to offer some constructive criticism: I need you to slow down a little.
Thank you! And I hope everyone feels the same. We need to be vocal as much as we can in hope that the franchise will change, otherwise it’s doomed.
Played since BF1942 days, really hooked since BF Vietnam till BF3, then i was over it.
@@R0d_1984 the move to consoles sent it tumbling downhill.
With the recent fallout about the works of these creative consulting firms like SBI, we now begin to understand why in BF5 a strong, powerful disabled woman was showed into a WWII front line for absolutely no reason at all. That BF5 as was also the definitive mark where players would realize the best days for BF are over.
Best days of BF ended when it went to consoles. From there on, it was dumbed down tripe.
Rest in peace
To all my Battlefield 3 OG’s I love you all♥
