As I understand it, they also cruise around in a very ancient Imperial warship that is vastly bigger in size than anything around in the current timeline, with unstoppable anti-ship torpedoes that seem to tear matter apart. They utilize ancient coffins as drop pods and can phase in and out of existence on the battlefield to further confuse the enemies of man. Lots of interesting info in the book 'Legion Of The Damned' from Black Library. (a pretty good story in itself about Zachariah Kersh and the Excoriators Chapter getting steamrolled by Chaos)
What if they are a mixture of the murdered loyal Marines of the Traitor Legions as well as one of The Lost Legions, with their Primarch (my guess its the Former II Legion) still leading them.
And another point: The Dammed legion are the ones from the origins from the heart of one of one of the "lost primarchs..." Disposesed by the corruption of their geneseed, yet still loyal to to goals of the empire. I am willing to argue the point if need be, but it fits right now!
So space marines have Legion of the Damned and chaos space marines have Warp Ghosts. Now it would be great to do few table top match ups between these two....
I remember bam in 4th edition they were in my opinion over powered against vehicles. Deep strike as you setup your assault space marines no more than 8 inches away from enemy tanks. Charge vehicles with assault space marines cause they all could be carrying meltabombs lol
I’m torn between “minor demons of the chaos god of order, the emperor” and “psychic scar of the Horus Heresy” as my favorite theories. Fire Hawks theory just not shivering my timbers.
sorry to tell u bro they got legended (basically no more rules update and no use of them in itc tournements) they legended them 1 week after i painted 10 of them......
Also I think that maybe GW where going with them being the Firehawks but the more they did with the Emperor becoming a god they felt like they needed to make the LotD more special than just the Firehawks.
Well we know where they come from (think it's like a phoenix metaphor the fact it was the fire hawks) but I think they've long since become lesser demons of the emperor like how the living Saints are his greater demons. (Spoilers alert!!!!!!!) You have been warned 😁 In the devastation of Baal, they appeared along side sanguinor so question. Did they come by themselves, the sanguinor got them to help or (my favourite) did the spirit sanguinius summon them to aid his sons.
Maybe they are demons. Think of the talk that if theres enough belief in the emperor then there will be a enity born in the warp. Could be something like that.
They not the master of the warp gates if they can controlled the warp gates all the primarch will be alive and the horus heresy will never exist..or at least they can save volcan and the blood angel primarch from being kill by horus
(17:14) Thank you for saving me, big Mr. Spaceman says the wide eyed little girl. It is Space Marine, child, the Astardes corrects her. You are nice, will you be my friend? She says. Look to the Emperor and be loyal, and I with many of my "friends" will look after you. The child rests her head on the Astarde's armored chest, a moment of peace falls on both.
Its not confirmed that theyre the fire hawks. Just somewhat likely with the hawks suddenly bursting into flames. But it doesnt explain the rest of their abilities especially with the legion having a massive space fortress similar to the phalanx.

Does that book exists in audio format?
@@Schlynn Ive had a look around but it doesnt look like it unfortunately
@@LurkMoar101 thanks for looking into it for me!! :D
I always liked the idea of The Legion of the Damned being the warp tainted souls of the murdered loyalists from the traitor legions.
I like the idea that they are just dead space marines sent back from the realm of the Emperor.
firmak2 or the tainted souls of chaos marine defectors

fortunatefantasy I’d like that. From the forgotten and the purged, we “know” that the SW were used to roflstomp one. What happened with the other?
So space marines have Legion of the Damned and chaos space marines have Warp Ghosts.
Now it would be great to do few table top match ups between these two....
Legion of the “Damn you GW give them new models and units”
was the legion of the damned at cadia when chaos came to destroy the planet
The legion was there, when the cadian pylons was activated they vanish
The Saint was in great pain when it was activated
So the Emperor seemingly created a legion of basically invulnerable warp based ghost riders in power armor. This man's D is second to none.
To wage war and die for the Emperor for the rest of eternity sounds like a heaven in the 40k universe
Better than becoming some demon elf's lawn chair.

A Legion of Ghost Rider Space Marines?
Hell yeah
If this interests you I heavily suggest reading the 40k horror story Perdition's Flame
How soon will the Legion Of The Damned get Primaris marines?
I would think it would be difficult, nobody knows how to find them
the primaris upgrades tend to turn to ashes upon implantation
I'm upset that I wasn't welcomed back to another episode of 40 facts about the 40k universe.
So they’re forgetting about the lore of the 21st founding aka the cursed founding. Where they’re attempting to surpass the workings of the emperor.
I remember bam in 4th edition they were in my opinion over powered against vehicles. Deep strike as you setup your assault space marines no more than 8 inches away from enemy tanks. Charge vehicles with assault space marines cause they all could be carrying meltabombs lol

WAHHHHHGGGGGG

just really REALLY angry space marines. So angry they light themselves of fire.

I think it’s the remnants of the Istvan massacre.
The legion of the "Dammnnnnn". 😌😂👌 Lool
Suggestion: necrons
Or the Legion of the Damned is one of the lost Legions.
In my headcanon, the legion of the damned are the loyalist dead of istvaaan 3 and 5. Hence why they always show up during helpless battles.
How can there be 40 Facts if all memories of encountering them cease away?
Bloody Phoenix~
Would it be possible to talk about kaldor draigos return in the ritual of the damned? And what happened?
They remind me of that ghost army from Lord of the Rings
The Legion of the Dayum'd.
Wait, isnt it just a theory that its the Fire Hawks?
I ask again......why hasn’t Ravenor cloned a body of himself and used it as a more permanent avatar?
i heard That a Headless Big Guy Leading THem In theory
Ferrus Mannus Might be The headless one
@@knightzix_01 that would be so sick, that they are all just dead space marines sent back by the emperor.

Adeptus Astartes uh I always get the burning birdies mixed up. And there’s a case for either of them being the legion of the damned anyway
