I started collecting primaris Ultramarines fully knowing they'd need a worthy adversary so started buying the Warhammer 40k conquest magazine which introduced me to Mortarion & his ilk, then it was the Indomitus crusade box set. Unfortunately I don't like necrons so was still looking for that worthy adversary that I FINALLY found in the form of Horus Lupercal's descendants...👉🏻 Abaddon the Despoiler & his ever growing BLACK LEGION......Death to the FALSE EMPEROR

So If a get this right abbadon scored a bunch of minor victories against the imperium most of which were the equivalent of paper cut given the size of the imperium despite being able to rally together a major faction. Also given that these crusades were over thousands of years, most of the damage down was most likely repaired.

Though honestly it makes sense. Chaos is like fire it can burn but as soon as fuel runs thin it just peters out.
