Co-Z electric gate opener. 1 year review. Is it worth it?

  • In this video, we review the Co-z electric gate opener after one year of use. We installed this gate opener in the Spring of 2020. We purchased this unit on Amazon for around $250 or so and also purchased the Enforcer electronic eye/beam detector safety switch. We made the gate and all of the brackets ourselves using hardware from a local fence supply store. If you'r in the market for an inexpensive gate opener, this one works really well.
    The instructions are very limited. So, if you're not mechanically inclined, this may not be the opener for you.

    Just finished with my Cantilever gate system and can't thank you enough. I came across your Video and installed the same gate opener and it's working like a champ. Your video helped a whole bunch. Took me from Monday to Friday to finished with the installation with my son's help. Thank you again from South Texas

      Thanks. A lot of people said this cheap unit wouldn’t last. But I’m three years in and no problems. I think the key is a light weight, easy rolling gate is crucial. Good luck my friend.

    I hear ya about the price of some openers. In fact, in 1996 I made my own using a chamberlain chain drive garage door motor and some gears off of a 10 speed. Well just today, the drive gear inside of the housing broke into pieces.
    I purchased my Co-z last spring in preparation of the eventual demise of my frankenopener. I hope it lasts 25 years as well.

    • @HeritageFarmsTexas
      @HeritageFarmsTexas  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, thanks for watching. There is one sensor on the unit, above the sprocket / gear. That sensor reads the two magnets. ( one magnet on each end of the gate). It’s important that the magnets are just the right distance and height to the sensor. Hope that helps. It took me a long time to get it adjusted just right.

    When you were first installing and having trouble you mentioned changing the chain to go over rather than under the center gear. Wondering if this is what I need to do. Mine lights up showing power, but the motor does nothing when I press the test button or use the remote. Wanted to ask before I try changing the way the chain is oriented. Thanks for the videos!

    About to wire up mine now but I got to mount the limit magnets. The instructions are saying to mount them 6-8 inches away from the center of the motor but in your video your magnets are dead center of the motor. Which should I do?
