I remember one time when a driver borrowed my bus and forgot to plug in the block heater. It dropped down to -30 overnight, it took about 5 minutes to get the Detroit engine started fortunately it had an ether injection system
The second bus is actually Blue Bird TC2000 produced from 1988-2004. They were built as a cheap/economic alternative to the larger Blue Bird All-american. The Vision isn't a flat-nosed bus, it was called the Vision because their engine hood are sloped for driver to see better when driving and when kids walk in front of the bus, plus the have bright headlights.
Yeah, I thought it looked a bit old for a Vision...among other things...
Style's all wrong, colors completely off...and who the [bleep] stuck that ugly af exhaust pipe up the side?
That bus is obviously VERY old and has been jury-rigged to heck and back...I don't quite think Vision's have reached such a point as of yet...😵😣😅

When I was in high school (early 80s) school try using propane fuel ,it was a total failure hard to start
in cold weather. Also is true that all school must be diesel because it is less as volatile than gasoline

Caracas Venezuela operated 450 LHD versions of the first bus the Leyland National. A few have survived in preservation.

1st bus - Leyland National way ahead of its time I remember them when I was in school in the 70's.
2nd bus seems way behind the times - if the date of 2003 is correct?

Should be mandatory propane pre heaters installed ahead of the catalytic converter‘s on all diesels
That's still in the exhaust stream though? I assume you mean to make the engine easier to start?

A propane block heater and hot air stream into the inlet would definitely make starting a lot easier!

In Singapore we do not need to cold start as one time I just suddenly heard the starter and boom the bus cranked

The 2nd Bus looks more like a Blue Bird All American and not a Blue Bird Vision. The Vision is a conventional bus with the front wheel and engine placed in front of the driver.
That's exactly what it was.

Yeah , unfortunately there is no way to preheat the cylinder s on a deasle engine . You can warm the block . But those damned things are a pain in the ass , untill they warm up . And when the weather is cold . Sometimes it needs a little money piss to get it to protest and buck and make some noise .
Is so called glow plugs on some motors, not all.
You never heard of glow plugs or intake/grid heaters?
Heating the incoming air will assist in cold starts.
