I don’t drive busses and I never will. But I have now fallen down the bus video rabbit hole of UA-cam and there’s no way out. I must now watch every bus related video this website has to offer.
What he is talking about is Espar, or Wabasto, or Palnar coolant heater. They heat the coolant in the engine so the truck or bus or some cars will start easier when it is cold.
@@BusRoutine use webasto in 10min without charging battery hahaha for use webasto. battery in the car schould be full charge.... diesel without good battery in the winter always problem with start.
Good video! I'm not surprised at all of the newer VDL bus firing up just like that, they are very good at starting in the cold. Webasto is not needed to start at -22C, but is easier on the battery. As for the older model (Euro 5 I'm guessing), these should be able to start at -22C but need a longer starting time at those temperatures, more like 5-10 seconds.
Hello. But I think it's way better for an engine to heat it up a little before start up at -22. :) I also think that VDL would be able to start without a webasto.
@@BusRoutine The reason why I said this is that the newer model with Euro 6 engine is much better at starting from these cold temperatures than the older one. It is not tuned as careful as the newer one for cold start and therefore needs longer to start when it gets really cold.
Kicking the snow off your boots each time you got on the bus is to me, a sign of intelligence / empathy. Well done. And don't underestimate your English, it's more than adequate ! . . .

Really interesting piece of art in Scotland in the UK then other parts of the world because the art shows people how to dance/dance/flip with a bus driver resume of 15% per day under resume terms, the job is harder to get than one thinks in general.
Hi mate I'm also a buss driver in Sweden my advice to u and ur boss if you don't wanna have problem in winter or summer you should buy Mercedes or Setra busses because rest of them just gives headache. 😊
Over here in England, the newer buses shut off after about ten minutes of idling. I’m sure in the boardroom, that was a fantastic idea, but when it’s minus 5 and you’re tying to defrost a bus before driving it, it’s a nightmare.
@@mattcrooke8321 Sounds like some Euro6 bs. I know that Volvo trucks don't allow idling for long, don't know if they have a setting that disables this for winter use or what not but i bet it's annoying. Apparently the piss injection doesn't like idle or something
And to think my parents Ford (not sure what type and year, but relatively recent, at least from after 2010) started easily and the door rubbers were not frozen (probably also because my mom put a lot of grease on the door rubbers to prevent them freezing to each other) but the central locking mechanism was frozen and prevented the passenger side door from opening up....after a night of like -10 or something.... (and the passenger side needed to be opened because the anti-frost screen was attached through that door as well).
I don't work for any bus operators but I notice every time I ride the school buses for worksites (Saf-T-Liner C2), each engine (all are the same Cummins ISB 6.7 I6) sounds very different because they're clearly in various states of deterioration and age. One of the most unhealthy of which (No. 278) smokes like a classic diesel which is likely an emission control or turbo issue. It's a shame those things are rarely ever looked after and they live in a very similar climate to these buses.
The older bus ignation system was working well so batteries are fine. I believe the problem arises from fuel if ignation works but engine not starts. Maybe i am wrong i am just driving regular engine fiat punto :)
