Its thanks to videos like this that i learn so much, I thought the class 37 was for freight and the like because it looks so chunky and industrial like, I never realised it was a sort of forerunner to the InterCity 125 fleet that I rode to London for so many office visits :)
@@W123fahrer I’m talking about locomotives that have diesel engines driving generators that power electric motors. Our passenger rail system is mostly electric only. We have the world’s longest freight train here in Australia. It is used to haul iron ore in Western Australia.
@@christophermarshall5765 I still don't know what you mean. And btw, Australia's electrification percentage is 11% for heavy railways, excluding lighter ones, which aren't electrified at all. And that iron ore train is Diesel driven too.
@@W123fahrer the ore train I spoke about is diesel electric. Diesel engine driving a generator which then drives the motors to move the locomotive. One of my nephews works on these for a living. I have also looked at the propulsion system in these trains, so I do know what I am talking about. The Indian Pacific locomotives are diesel electric. Our passenger rail trains in our cities are mostly electric. I was in Perth, Western Australia in 1989. They were doing the conversion to electric trains at that time. Our trams in Adelaide are electric. Brisbane passenger rail is electric, as is Canberra, and Sydney. I’m pretty sure Melbourne has electric trains for their passenger rail system too. I’m not sure about Darwin. For that, I would need to ask one of my friends who lives there.
Not on the straight tracks. These bullet trains take their time out of the station before gaining speed and reduce before their next stop. Over here: a freight train hit a crane wich was used to repair the tracks. How the ...? did that happen? An passenger train was on its own free track but hit the crane that was fallen on its track.
Because they have no Glow Plugs, meaning the cylinder temp is too cold. So the Diesel does not fully burn initially, hence lots of smoke until they start to warm up.
Круто очень много дыма как от паровоза только это тепловоз дымит ставлю лайк вам
I love the sound when they finally start,
Love the smell of diesel in the morning.
Yeah, but any time!
Do you like these LOCOMOTIVE STARTS ? :)
Fantastic ! Great engines using God given natural resources. Send grumpy 😡 Thunberg a copy please.
Well, I never thought I'd find anything of interest in diesel locos, but you've proved me wrong!
The 1st engine is the Alstom (AHK) introduced on Thailand Railways in 1980. The fleet is still operational.

"Бычок" - микроавтобус так заводился в 30 градусный мороз после 3часового простоя.
The Loco in the opening clip had some great rhythm! 😁
That's what I thought too. 😅
Like Tongan drummers 😆👍🏻
The class 37 seems quick starters. Or are the just overhauled?
Clak Monsters 😊
Greta thungberg’s favourite channel….
Came here for the awesome locomotives. Can you stop giving activists free rent in your head?
Gretha has left the channel😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She don,t like bill
Yep 😂
How dare you!?
Sound a lot like starting my John Deere on a cold day. None of the pistons can decide what the firing order is.
Wish we had a yard close to us so we could see or film some of these start up. Feed the coal to 'em, we love our trains here in Clemson SC, Go Tigers!
Yeah, but diesel engines dont run on coal.
Nice!! We still have a lot of diesel/electric loco's here. They are used for interstate freight & passenger trains.
Why do you say you still have? Where should they went in your opinion? I mean there are No other trains than Diesels and Electrics.

Good video, like
Oh man I just want to inhale that smoke and smell that Burnt diesel smell
Same here so lovely 😍 👌 smile
Nice.
Awesome video!
I love the smell of diesel in the morning .😊
16 cylinder engines running on five cylinders don't sound too elegant.
Perfekt video 👍👍👍
Another great video. Happy New Year❤❤
great explanations
Greta rasga o cool com as unhas vendo isso 😂
the first loco has a nice rythm to it
C'est très bien
I LOVE THEM ABSOLOUTE QUALITY ❤❤
Lovely 😍 👌 👍 my favourite engen

Is the first one a test to see how much ether the heads can take?
This is power
Japan has trains traveling hundreds of mph and here in the states we have 45 mph train's falling off the tracks..????????

i love the smell of "DIESEL" in the morning, don't you?
А если помочь на топливные рейки надавить .
I can dance with the sound of this engine.🤣😅
I'm guessing no DPF's on these then.
Who cares lil whiner 😂
That first one sounds like it is running on gun powder. eeeeebangeeeBANGeeSNAP. Piston slap from high compression.
seen these earlier REPRIS
Well it was a clear day....lmao
2 members of just stop oil just had a heart attack.😂😂
They should lie on the track in front of a speeding freight train.
@@softwarephil1709Yoooooo...but true
Why show a Via Rail engine and then not show it start!!!!!!
Geen CO2, geen stikstof, belachelijk.
There might be an obvious answer, but why do they take so long to fire up and create so much smoooooooke?
Motor je total kaput.
Big cylinders and no pre heating is main cause.
TIME MEANS NOTHING TO TRAIN CREWS.. KNOWING THEY WILL GET A REAL HEFTY PENSION IN 40 YEARS

Daft question from a novice - why didn’t they have glow plugs?

I'm not interested in subscribing if you can't tell us what engine is fitted to these locomotives, that's the most interesting part.
Diesels can blow smoke rings, if your gas engine does, you have big problems!
No mention of the engine type. Is the Class 37 the Deltic?
Nope
@@W123fahrer I'm an engineer, it would be nice to know at least the make of engine, if not the model. That's the most interesting part.
@@brucerogermorgan2388 Have you ever heard of an operation called "Google"? The engine of the Class 37 is called: English Electric 12CSVT

First one sounds like a beat😂
Too bad it's not EMD's starting.
It seems like we keep seeing the same locomotives in the videos.

I would not bank on that
A kde je Greta? 😂
I hope Greta doesn't see this.
How dare you!
