    I have to say I really like the coherent design and overall flow of the Volkswagen compared to Japanese. I feel like specifically Toyota and Honda are overly fussy adding needless styling additions to the body panels and all extra interior lines!

    We love our 2019 Tig. Drives well for an SUV, and had tons of room for our crap and dogs. And we get way better fuel economy than EPA estimates.

    2022 Volswagon Tiguan good compact SUV, might look small from outside but it's roomy from inside, big heavy steering, the car did not roll/flip over under extreme turning conditions above 120mph into sharp turns, anti roll kicks in, the front collision distance closing in from the front flashes in red you cant miss it and it auto cuts power under extreme conditions. Overall all the bells and whistles work great. I recommend this SUV to anyone looking for a safe SUV.

    The US spec Tiguan is known in Europe as the Tiguan "Allspace" and it's considered a "midsize" or even a "large" SUV. The Tiguan "Allspace" is about 10" longer than the Tiguan (without the Allspace modifier). And that goes a long way to explain the existence of a 3rd row since Europeans and Americans have very different conceptions of vehicle sizes . Prior to the current year the 3rd row was a low cost option in the US ($500 as I recall) but VW typically resists putting individual options on US spec vehicles. I suspect for production cost reasons. Instead, they bundle options into trim levels or larger packages. Thus, the small 3rd row is limited to FWD platforms and lower level trims. Apparently, their market research suggests that greater passenger capacity is favored by families with less disposable income. (No doubt as a result of being a larger family. 😁)

    I own a 2019 VW Tiguan SEL Premium 4Motion. I agree with most of what you've said, however, my biggest complaint is power. I believe there is a lack of power and if you shift in the normal D mode, it just feels sluggish. This character flaw turns around 180 if you select the Sport mode on the transmission by pulling down the gear lever one more time past D. The car's transmission now feels connected to its engine and delivers, what I would call, appropriate power. Yes, fuel economy is not its strong hold but you'll get a lot of space and a comfortable ride quality. It appears that there are only minor cosmetic exterior and minor interior changes that mainly relays to the HVAC system buttons and steering wheel. Overall in the long term, it is an easy vehicle to live with on a day to day basis as a daily driver. I'm 6'1" and I fit comfortably due to the highly adjustable power seat. Getting in and out is a breeze as there is a sensor behind the front door handles that makes it easy and convenient to get in. The power tailgate is a real asset as it features many ways to open it and to close it. Compared to medium sized SUV's, I still preferred the Tiguan because of it's overall size inside and out because it gives you medium sized interior space and a small SUV exterior space which makes it easier to handle in the city and parking garages. Yes, sometimes the small things count too. The million $$$ question is, would I purchase a Tiguan again? Yes, maybe. I wish for a better transmission and a stronger engine. Despite having a 2 liter and a turbo charger, that you have a hard time to feel, the engine feels sluggish at times. I think a power boost to 240 hp and a boost in torque to 250 lbs, would fix this along a better fuel economy. This was a really good review that gave a good overview what this vehicle is capable of.

    • @holgerviel1949
      @holgerviel1949 3 роки тому

      I forgot to mention that the quality of certain trim pieces might need a revision, I don't believe that many consumers are aware that the Tiguan slated for the US is actually produced in Puebla, Mexico. Also, VW announced that due to the chip shortage, the production of the Tiguan was stopped from May 6 to May 16. VW mentioned that the supply chain of the chip in the near future was uncertain.

      I have a 2022 Tiguan and when you turn off the gas saver mode, the engine & pickup have improved over the 2019-2020 version. My last car was a Volvo XC-60 (5 cylinder turbo, 227 horsepower), and I feel at times I wish I had just a little more power. However, I did test drive the competition & honestly, the pickup and handling seemed better in the Tiguan. I feel safe in the car, as it is sturdy & roomy. The SE has the tech leather aka -vinyl seats, which are not quite as comfortable as leather …. But will stand the test of time when it comes to clean-up and durability. The car at times sputters a bit when in Eco-mode, so I find myself turning it off when it does this. This is something VW can improve on. It doesn’t do this all the time, but it is noticeable when it does.

    I get about 33 to 34 on highway trips. But the reason they under rate is due to fact if I have mine loaded with 5 passengers it wouldn't hit high 30s. By myself in eco mode and cruise control 34 highway is easy to hit

  • @jerzybartonezz4439
    @jerzybartonezz4439 3 роки тому +6

    Don't be lazy. Do your homework. Check real life fuel economy, like Car&Driver does. EPA ratings are meaningless. Tiguan has very good fuel economy and uses regular gas.

    I'Ve just ordered a tree row one, for the second car of our family. We have a minivan for our long travels (have 4 kids). The magic of the tiguan is that I can have 2 toddler seat in the second row, and on the rare ocasion I do bring one of my older kid, he can just put his booster on the third row and I don't have to remove the dam toddler seats. I just wish they had an hybride or a PHEV option.
