I have no problems with a motorized bicycle minarelli build! What I had a problem with is people selling garbage parts in kits at top dollar rates. People can call it whatever sugar coated word they want. But a cold seizure is going to happen 100% to any cast iron jug period. All the Bs you do even ceramic coating which does help greatly btw 80% better! Still is going to seize once in a while! Has nothing to do with oil mix, Carb settings, Or drilling holes in stuff where things heat up. None of that crap works! If it did you wouldn't be still trying that crap 43 years after first one was made in Russia 1979 LOL All this crap is just smoke and mirrors to fix a problem you can't. Steel and aluminum Don't expand at the same rates. No matter what you do that piston will expand and cold seize.
Sure you here the elite idiots as I call them say buy a aluminum jug! Okay they cost 100's of $$$ lol. So people fall into this hole of buying one then realize there is an issue shortly after. Your either stuck with what you got or you SPEND SPEND SPEND to fix what you got. So this the brutally honest truth! Your getting rolled over on parts to start with in these ebay kits! sorry if that pisses off people in the selling/ promoting items game on youtube. But your feelings being hurt does not bother me and I won't lose sleep over saying it!
So with all this said! I hope if you do make one you read up and learn what your buying first. I think they are a great build and fun build with entry level skills to make one. If you buy these cheaper end kits. They come with limitations! If you want fast crazy stupid builds like most want. Then your not even close to spending your cash to make it happen.
My honest view on this is! If your going to build one or buy one! Buy it from a well known time tested seller of parts that makes stuff that works vs crap off aliexpress tosse din box with F U invoice attached when it arrives at your house in a box off ebay!

I just want to build one fast enough to make me crap in my breeches on the tail of the dragon. They have a two stroke meet up in February each year and it's a bunch of retro motorcycles. Although I'd love to have a Yamaha RD to show up with, I also wouldn't mind to show up on a Felt faker that can hit 70mph rapidly 😂😂. Wish me luck.

Not the reason! Saw builds are more low end! 1.8mm squish. Minarelli is .70 squish! lower squish more RPMS! But just add pop up piston to saw and minarelli can't even come close to saw build! 85cc Piaggio case reed build my friend has out of the gate is in dust LOL add a reed block to saw its a chain breaker!

@@keeganhache6667 yeh , but athena cylinder kit price is like about 4 times what a saw cylinder kit cost , and with the athena you need to add the reed valve cost wich is also a nice dime if you want to put some nice carbon fiber reed so for me a athena build is wat out of my budget who knows what can you do with a saw jug with the same buget you know what I mean ?

What about all the car engines that use iron sleeves and aluminum pistons? My GSR motor in my '98 turbo Civic has aftermarket cast iron sleeves, and 2618 aluminum pistons. All that needs to be done is proper piston-to-wall clearance. In my case, I have an 81.5mm bore, and that clearance I like is 4 thou.

    • @BuildBreakFix

You know what a redline is then and a transmission correct? Since we are talking cars. Minarelli vertical engine was designed to work with a CVT transmission on a moped. Redline for a minarelli is 6500rpms. When you blast it doing 10,000 rpms to make a 1 speed bicycle do 55mph. Whole a different story and thermal dynamics of two metals don't play well when expanding. To answer your question (sleeved) aluminum blocks can dissipate heat closer to pistons expansion rates than a cast iron block can. Furter that! Steel sleeve in a super high end build has titanium 3 to 5% mixed in so the steel expands farter then the aluminum lol. Been building engines for years man lol swear to God if you look up all that you will find it repeatedly preached by many builders of All kinds of engines. Supercross dirt bikes to NASCAR

This is a Athena topends. Still 47mm but made out of aluminum. Not cast iron. If you make a minarelli these aluminum jugs are worth every penny you spend more. By the time cast iron jugs die over and over from cold seizure. You spent just as much anyways

I keep seeing this "cold seize" being used as if it's a real issue. A warmed up engine does not cold seize unless there is something else going on. Cast iron jugs have been around a LONG time now, and the only "cold seized" engine I ever saw were run too hard upon startup, without letting engine come up to temp. Kinda sounds to me like you just have an axe to grind and want to shit on Minarellis. If the problem was as widespread as you claim, MANY others would have had this problem by now. Sounds like advertising to promote saws over someone else's kits to me.

    • @BuildBreakFix

You have no idea what your talking about! Nor do you understand basic reason it happens clearly. you know I sell Minarelli Engines as well right? Just not crap builds like you find on ebay people get screwed over. Bro there a reason people drop 1000$ on minarelli build. Sure cast iron jugs have been around for years. They also are not going 12,000 RPM at 485F+ degree temps. (The Cast iron jugs are used with Transmission) (Called thermal dynamics) aluminum will always expand before steel faster! They last longer and have lower wear rates for there correct use. But they also don't go over 7k rpms for more then few seconds till transmission kicks in normally run at 4-5k rpms on a moped. Idiots that mount one on a bicycle engine have no transmissions. So they run it at 8k+ rpms and they cold seizure. But hey only built 478 of them now. And have lots of videos in great detail how to build one! BUT! Be my guess when you build it and you waste your cash on Cast iron jug come back see me and i'll tell you how to fix it for another 500$ on top of the 500$ you just spent buying a 90$ piece of crap anyone can buy off aliexpress!
TO back up my claims! I Offred $200 to any person to ride a cast iron Minarelli jug @ 40MPH for 40 SECONDS on live stream 5 months ago when I posted this video! Which is not even close to max speeds! Not one person out of 78 People did it and 6 trashed there engines trying. so your more then welcome to add yours to the list of shame!
