I agree completely with you. I might not get my point across the same as you did or do but what you saying is just what I think. There's no reason that there shouldn't be a larger price on complete kit compared to buying all the parts separate. Let's be honest too if you build it yourself yes you can consider it "free labor" but once you start building three four or even more it cost time and if you don't think your labor is valuable then I guess you don't consider yourself valuable. I personally enjoy building these bikes/motors but it definitely takes away from other parts in my life, and to be fair if I had the money to spend I would definitely buy the kit so I can save the week of work it takes to actually sit and build the motor and rather invest that time I spent building as time spent enjoying my life or family. I hate when people talk smack about others like that it's just unnecessary to do imo. It doesn't help anyone and it definitely doesn't help the community. Anyway we'll said sir.

hi, on air cooled engines you should have the carb running just a bit richer so that the engine has more lubrication making it heat less, if the engine was liquid cooled the carburation you have on it is more than good!
@@LAHover I had four engines and I did various things to them, killing every one. Adjustable timing would help with high-rpm temp issues. An old two stroke racer told me that after I soft seized and then hard seized my best engine.
The extra lubrication is not going to do anything for the heat issue. You need to have the pisons machined out of titanium which has a much higher heat tolerance. Titanium pistons are quite common for 2 stroke racing engines.
@@LAHover Quite welcome. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a piston in the correct size already in Titanium. There's only so many bore sizes right :{)=
Seems to be running well, nice video! I really wonder if someone will make a water cooling kit for these motors. (special jug, head, radiator). Hope you get that piston problem fixed.
That's great oil. I've seized my engine using amsoil synthetic 32:1 after ten minutes wide open, shaved head, ported, pipe, 32t sprocket. Jetted slightly lean I learned. These engines can only take so much even with the best oil.
Looks like the china cast cylinders bore is to tight. Hone the cylinder slightly bigger to give the piston more room to expand. Those cylinders are very hit or miss. A name brand cylinder does not have these issues.
I ride my LD100 to work everyday and its 20miles each way. I full throttle it off and on the intier way. I mix 20to1 and 26inch wheels with 44tooth sprocket and i dont have any isues like you did here. I was just thinking maybe it the 20 to 1 mix and i broke my motor in good before i ever really beat on it. Nock on wood nothing to crazy yet. But i just wanted to share that and not all motors will have that problem i guess and i run a aftermarket exhaust also. Love your videos
In my experience it is a very bad idea. It's better to round the edges with fine grid sandpaper. Or, if you have a lathe you can put the piston on and, with a 1000 grid sandpaper, make the piston a little bit smaller
Hi there again LA hover, awesome ride. A bit rough obviously but very thrilling to see that thing finally open up a bit. This video was so educational for me as I’m planning on building a minerali during the summer and I would really like to see what drilling a few small holes in the piston could do as after watching this, the soft seizures do make me a little bit nervous, even with a high compression head. There is one thing on my bike though that I would personally like to get you’re opinion on (yet again) is my rear wheel. Primarily the home made sprocket set up I have, as we all know you’re obviously 100 percent honest when it comes to giving feed back on motorized bike parts. And believe me when I say this thing is STRONG! Like in my mind it’s almost a middle class DIY version of the Gemini rear wheel. It combines the disc hub with the clamp on hub adapter and 2 sprockets. By using one sprocket with a bigger centre diameter hole to go over the disc hub and use a second cnc sprocket with all pre drilled holes for any kind of mounts, mounting it to the disc hub with good quality bolts and using it to space the first sprocket with washers and nuts for a perfect chain alignment. Then on the first sprocket with the bigger centre howl was the one I mounted the clamp on adapter too on the other side just for some extra stability and strength. You may not get what I’m saying but I did upload a video of it but I honestly mainly just wanted to get you’re opinion on it for an out side voice. As I honestly don’t think any other outside voice would be better then yours since I honestly kind of just want some honest feed back on it which is kind of what you do best. If you have any time at all to watch the vid and give me some feed back on it, it would be so much appreciated and really mean a lot to me. Anyways thanks so much for your time and the awesome vids all the time. ua-cam.com/video/CDEG0bGyvek/v-deo.html

I think it's a dry system. But I have never had one to test. I can't imagine the clutch system on these would have oil in them. Either way I don't know where to find the information you are looking for sorry. Good luck
@@LAHover I do believe it does have oil in it. The reason I think it does is because oil fill hole on the right side of the case, and it is a 2-stroke motor. I still have to fill my gas tank with an oil/fuel mixture. Do you know anyone who has one that I can ask?
Hey Mr LA lol are these engines really and what is the common defects on these motors? I'm looking to buying 1. Not building so I want to make sure there not like evert China doll.
Im gonna take that back i see his point. Its a huge price AND if you cant handle throwing one together you dont belong on theses bikes. Part of riding one is servicing it. Which there is alot of and it would be crazy expensive to pay someone else to.

If anyone is in the st Louis area I have a builder that sells complete 66/80cc bikes that are new motors on older good bicycles for $400 if you want the info. He uses loctite on everything and breaks in the motors on 16:1 fuel and they last a few years if cared for. In IL they are totally legal too
Darcy, do you think maybe the longer 40mm stroke may also have something to do with why this issue happens more often on hybrid builds? I know that scooter are forced air cool, but I never saw temperatures that were excessive. My thoughts are that with the longer stroke, the piston moves faster at any giving RPM range (faster = more friction). Also, the longer stroke may also be applying more force against the cylinder walls and causing hot spots. Would love to get your input.
Nice videos, im using my minarelli mostly in little roads and on trails and just full throttle it.. if you have an air leak on those motor, that’s impossible to ride, too much lean and too much power.
Nail it! Well said.
two stroke stuffing does the piston drop test showing correct piston to cylinder clearance , I am a true believer in 32 to 1 . I have not built a minarelli yet but have clearanced pistons on the yd 100’s and I believe they come way too tight.. Kevin takes a couple thousand s off the piston above the rings where most of the heat is…as per usual a great viseo thanx.
@@scottdavies3914 Got to love 2SS. The things he does are great. And good information about the piston drop! Thank you I forgot all about that. So many comments like this today with information and ideas you guys rock!
@junkyardmotorbike yea I love Kevin's shop too, he's a true good guy. No fluff just honest.
@@LAHover yea I have been watching 2ss for a couple years now and what he does is just so fun to watch and even though it's not our motors if you listen close it all has to do with it and will definitely help out in the long run. He has probably forgotten more then I know now or may ever know. Lol
We appreciate you brother

After Warm-up, great idle. Solid Cruise 30 mph, 38 flat out full throttle, tad rich on the top end, back off back to 2 cycle running. At 70% power, long distance run, 30 mph.
Mr la hover what’s up with the stresses well explain but he is in title to his opinions I totally understand your response and your right because I started on eBay kits and your channel to build my confidence with these 2 stroke motor as a mechanic before I have years of 4 stroke tech but no 2 stroke technology now instead of buying a phantom 85 for my birthday I would buy a case reed and a falcon cylinder piston and fread head cr machine huh and build me a go engine The Italian scooter jugs are not for everyone besides everyone don’t have a mini lade and drill press to make chainsaw jug on china dolls.still learning keep teaching
There are so many options and budgets in this hobby. I have yet to figure out why it can get so aggressive sometimes.
For the guys who race I get it, but for us who just build and ride... What's the point?
Stay safe out there builder :)
Yep, great job, keep it up too. I been watching your progress for a couple years now so hey keep it twisted and ignore the Daren’s that can’t do what you do, they jealous bro.
💯you the best at wat you going 💯don’t stop
Love what u do I started building bikes as a hobby around 5 years ago.. I love the content from one Louisiana boy to another you have taught me a lot.. I'm a retired welder if u need any welding get it to me I'll do it for free..
That camera is impressive. Not sure how it magically floats like that, but I like it.
THANK YOU SIR KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
Put a computer fan on or multiples to increase the cooling effect
I was thinking of trying this 😅
hi, on air cooled engines you should have the carb running just a bit richer so that the engine has more lubrication making it heat less, if the engine was liquid cooled the carburation you have on it is more than good!
Great point! I thought I had it a bit on the rich side, but it was probably not enough. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the advise!
@@LAHover Quite welcome. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a piston in the correct size already in Titanium. There's only so many bore sizes right :{)=
Titanium is so expensive , the problem is only that this piston is in aluminium.. With a forged one that would be lot better lol
Can’t wait to make one myself
Seems to be running well, nice video! I really wonder if someone will make a water cooling kit for these motors. (special jug, head, radiator). Hope you get that piston problem fixed.
called an am6
Minarelli lc have a different stud displacement, but yes i’ve thinked of it. Minarelli vertical are sooooo much heating i’ve never seen that
Love your videos man, I can’t wait to get my minarelli all built and on a bike. I have lots left to go, but it will be fun and has been.
Keep the good work up LA. I've learned a lot more from your content then from those other dudes! Two thumbs up!
I would try Redline gokart racing oil to keep it from over heating .
That's great oil. I've seized my engine using amsoil synthetic 32:1 after ten minutes wide open, shaved head, ported, pipe, 32t sprocket. Jetted slightly lean I learned. These engines can only take so much even with the best oil.
You have to be a genuinely nice person.
Looks like the china cast cylinders bore is to tight. Hone the cylinder slightly bigger to give the piston more room to expand. Those cylinders are very hit or miss. A name brand cylinder does not have these issues.
Thanks for the tip!
Hmmm... drilling those holes in the piston seems like a great idea... I'm interested to see what the results will be...!!!!
Man I hope it works, it seems so simple. I will do my best to push the motor and see if it's helps.
In my experience it is a very bad idea. It's better to round the edges with fine grid sandpaper. Or, if you have a lathe you can put the piston on and, with a 1000 grid sandpaper, make the piston a little bit smaller
@junkyardmotorbike totally agree
I've been riding mine like this and seems to work good
Hi there again LA hover, awesome ride.

Now that is thinking outside the box. Liked and commented.
Smart uses of the clamp on adapter too.
My tachometer has a temp gauge built in and the wire runs to the spark plug. I have the 49mm iron sleeve with window piston and all that stuff and mine usually runs around 270 but if I'm ripping for prolong time it gets to 300 degrees. But never has seized before
Can you post a link to the tach you use? Thanks!
LA rode the bike at 40mph for 40mins if 90° F 8000+ RPM
@@FreidPickles Wish they made an affordable tach, speedo, odometer, spark plug/head temp gauge for a reasonable price. I'd be happy with just a tach/temp gauge.
I’m trying to get the felt faker frame but I want to cut it down in order to give it a full suspension frame make it look like a dirtbike is what I’m trying to do
I just got to the part you mentioned me. Lol got me laughing cause your like I'm going to get to it I promise. No worries brother I'm not stressing it, I know your busy. Thank you.
I'll shoot the tracking number to your email when it goes out.
I'm forcing myself to do it this Monday - Friday before it gets lost in the pile of parts again lmao... The only things I think you will need is gasket paper/ultra gray, g2 or OZ reed, and a exhaust.
I can't wait to see what you do with it, good luck!
P.S. I might have you covered on the reed, carb, and jets... If I can find them, enjoy :)
@@LAHover hey that's awesome I'm definitely looking forward to it but totally understand being busy so for reason rush and no worries. If you can help with the reeds and carb and all awesome if not your already doing a lot so really appreciate it. Thanks again!!
Whatever he doesn't get you bud let me know I can probably help except the exhaust this is Joey btw I know name change on here throws you off but I got parts like a flat reed plate I think and a pz intake adapter or vm20 intake adapter just let me know if I can make this happen any easier
have you tried colder plug and gaping experiments?
Putting a colder plug in it for the next video. The b6hs looks to be to hot (or I was too lean). going to try a b8hs.
yea man Keep doing what you're doing f the haters I have 2 bikes now the simple 80ccs I enjoy your channel it helps alot
Love your vids dude I just built my first one from a Kent seachange bike the only problems I'm having is blowing out the bearings in the wheel hub on the rear tire
I found the right cruzing rpm for my yd 100 and it’s going on it’s 4 year. I suspect she’s getting a little tired.
Rear bushing with speeds?
It's simple, if the price goes up it is due to the manufacturing process. I can throw together an engine for cheap, but likely a company that does that as their main thing has a better idea of how to build them.
thanks for the ride, bike looks awesome man!! Im all about supporting small buisness ,but not companies that talk to you like youre a idiot in their facebook group, if you ask any kind of newbie question,,,not all of us are professionals and were trying to learn!!
Work, sleep, ride, repeat! :) Thanks builder.
How about using a steel piston ?
Hello Brother of Mine! Great Video!
Hi, your doing a great job. I know how to operate a front end loader. Had to load our own truck in the boonies.
What do you think about maybe doing a tire review? I've been riding my nel lusso build back and forth to work (about 7 miles) sporadically, and its eating the stock tires alive, I like to hear your opinion on the different options out there...
So I've been watching for a year now and I follow alot of the top end builders u have helped me with a few builds but I've had a gt90 case reed that I've rebuilt too many time just wondering wich head u would suggest going to I have been considering 2 options either I'm going back to a falcon 911 head or going big and getting a mxs scooter head and exhaust system mind u I have made several of these over the years and used to build and sell them now I've been leaning towards the mxs pro cylinder for one reason I have made the gt90 as a rece bike through and through
What hubs and wheels, and the connection for the final drive sprocket? Any links?
Another nice ride. Cheers
Are rag joints better than the sprocket adapter? (clamp down inside the wheel)
Nice video great too know whats happing in the motor on long runs because thats what i want to do i am thinking to change the head to water cool and put a small radiator maybe it will keep-it cool on long runs just thinking thank you for your in put ..
Bro I hear you and yea man I had to fall back from other pages cuz of stuff like this ,and yea man I am far from dumb or lazy but I dnt habe time all like that so for most part I rather just buy kits and slap em on and keep my slow sweet builds too .I like building things and learning about All i can and shit I definitely am
Just wondering can I put puch moped wheels on a (gas bike) ? Puch wheels look same as bike wheel and puch wheel have 2 spock one on each side and has drum brake built in the hub with a bike cable connected to the handlebar
Bro what I dnt get is how the chainsaw engines can hit crazy temps while working at a stand still but these engines can't with the wind blowing on em
Great video, great info!
I have a BT-80 with auto-start. my question is where can I find an exploded view of the centrifical clutch. I want to adjust it without losing all my oil.
Do you know anyone who has one that I can ask?
i agree with you
I’m looking for a 2 stroke bike kit which one do you reccomend for my beach cruiser I was wanting a 80cc
Which there is alot of and it would be crazy expensive to pay someone else to.
what do you think of octane boosters?..Stp for example..I've searched but there's really no info for motorized bikes
Octane boosters or any additive is pointless . Regular gas qoth good oil is all you need
Holy shit at 7 minutes that thing started revving up to the moon 😳
u alllways replay where can ifind a used or same kit cheep an i have a seller all ready but i whant to no how hard is it to start to a norml kit an how hard was it to run u think whith out this upgraed clutch cuz i am thinking of geting one step down clitch than this
In PA police department is asking for some kind of license its that true like they're required to drive a motorbike???
Under 50cc no, unless they changed the laws
They need to make steel piston or something this is way to long into these engines for no one to have came up with a good fix
What iron sleeve do I get for my seeutec and is it a high hole Piston cause my piston lock in the sleeve a tore the metal out of the inside of it
If you are sure it is a high hole piston, than this iron sleeve big bore kit will work.
It's a strong upgrade, just be sure to thoroughly clean the sleeve and ports.

Note: you will probably want to run a bit rich with this. And it's important to let the motor warm up for a few minutes b4 gunning the throttle.
Needs most likely bigger ring gap.
I would spend the money on a new racing piston
Minareli cylinders are pretty cool tho they are designed for forced cooling. You'd be better off with a Peugeot 103, Derbi start 5, or Puch cylinder
If anyone is in the st Louis area I have a builder that sells complete 66/80cc bikes that are new motors on older good bicycles for $400 if you want the info. He uses loctite on everything and breaks in the motors on 16:1 fuel and they last a few years if cared for. In IL they are totally legal too
Is that the 50 cc jog pipe??
Yup, just cut and re-welded the header to get the angle right.
can you send me the link to that
Sure, what do you need a link to?
Everything that need to do with engine if can
I'm just curious if the scooter community has this same issue?
No not really . They have gears and can reduce the RPMs
Riding it rich as fuck keep this thing reliable but performance goes down. Thoses needs forged piston bc aluminium heat sooo fast.
I use hella oil on a long trip
Looks like bikelife is 2nd to comment ;p
Would any one be willing to trade a ported motor with rse reed windowed piston boost port 3rd transfer HP head runs good got a minarelli through a raffle so I'm in need of a 21mm oko or pwk and one of these pipes i can't afford them right now as I'm only 17 joined hobby from my uncle whom passed the pk80 is just after break in want to run this minarelli pretty stoked got money from my grandad put it on two numbers and won the raffle please let me know if we can work something out
I like this vid
Thanks :)
I just ordered me a new athena minarelli cylinder
Oh nice! I have not looked into them much, but I hear good things :)
@@LAHover I've tried dlh ported imma test athena and compare
Athena or Airsal are both great options and do not have the seizing issues that cast cylinders do.
First like, then play! :)
god teir rank 💯💯💯💯
If a business is talking crap about another business over pricing they probably are lacking in experience
Iron horse. He does chain saw builds and all kinds of 2 stroke tips.
Bafoonery
If it seized it's just too tight and you might be a little thin on oil mix
my head bolts are so loose i can see daylight thru the gasket, suprisingly it ran, and much quieter with this compression leak, i could feel specks of oils on my legs.
lol... Compression leak? Nah that's just my silencer ;)
I once had a bike run while the spark plug was in finger tight. Did not run well, but it got home :D
280 is hot. I've had banshee 350 2 stroke 4wheelers all my life and 200 was hot I'd run it at about 175 180 in the dunes shouldn't really go over 200 at any point. Like I said been riding quads since I was 5 and only had 1 4 stroke same on those always under 200 . Yeah that's crazy hot in my opinion.
