3022$ + your work. Nice bike, and I finally get a realistic idea of what a machine like this would cost. I’ve been back and forth, between a bike like this and a comparable electric bike. Either way I looked at the project it was going to cost some $$$. What I ended up doing(for now), I picked up a 1980 Yamaha 185cc street bike(ugly mofo) with hardly any use 1500 miles for 1000$. I started with, paint, tires, handle bars, shocks, and Take off all the plastic, and anything that is not needed, strip it down as much as possible. General tuneup, grease, filters, oil etc. As it is rideable 1500$. To make it nice would be another 500$. Plates&insurance 600$..Canada we have to. So I’m into it about 2100$. Another 30 hours work and 500$ and I’ve got something I’m not embarrassed to ride. I still like your setup because I could put it easily in the back of my truck to take out to ride, or just a slick setup for around town. Good vidjoe, and you detail the real cost. Enjoy , it looks like it would be a blast !

The biggest problem back then was the cranks were so unbalanced which they probably still are but not as bad. No I see this bike and I’m like omg. For your steering setup, the reason it keeps coming loose is because you need to get some spacers in-between your headset and the bottom piece of the fork where it sits. they like a couple bucks for a whole set and that should completely fix your issue.
the reason your headset keeps coming loose is: Loosen up the top crown of the fork, take off top cap, take off stem, then put a spacer/spacers under your stem so that the stem sticks up about 5mm above the steer tube! then you leave the clamp bolts on the back of the stem loose while you tighten up the top cap bolt (not that tight just enough to pretension the bearings) when you tighten the top cap bolt you want to make sure it is tight but not binding so you steer left and right make sure it is ok... Make sure the bars are straight inline with the tire then tighten up the stem cinch bolts on the back of the stem, finally tighten the top crown on your forks (should be loose during these steps) and finally it will stay tight!! I can't believe no one has said anything thus far!
I like the way you go about building your bike and are so willing to share your experience and all the details and descriptions of your machine. It is obvious your pride in constructing the bike. Your attitude is inspiring to me as I am near to finishing my own motorized bicycle. Ride safe.

@@LifeofMarcus Awesome build ...I'm thinking some good front suspension forks & a suspension seat post to go with that seat would make a big ride improvement. The water pump driven off the magneto belt & pulley gave me an idea for a gas/electric hybrid 2 stroke....Instead of a water pump underneath, put a 100W or 200W small generator/alternator in place that charges a smaller (lighter) e-bike lithium battery pack. Add a 500w or 750w geared hub front motor (smaller, lighter, lot's of torque)....Ride mainly with the gas 2 stroke engine only (while it charges the battery pack)...For steep hills or quick acceleration use both gas & electric and for areas where you can't ride a gas bike or want to be quiet use the electric only. Hopefully with a geared hub motor & smaller battery pack, it wouldn't add a ton of weight to the bike.

Drop the stemclamp down on the forkplate or put a spacer in between. Otherwise it will keep coming loose. Like it is now the centerbolt doesnt do anything clamping down on the headset.
Have a look at downhill mtbs that use forks with the triple clamp plates. They usually have the handlebars clamped straight on the topplate. The steering tube cut to a length so that the centre bolt and cap clamp the top plate onto the top headset bearing. If you see it you will get what i mean. That should solve your problem
I'm in the process of collecting the parts for my 'all out' build based on a schwinn chopper and a CNC case Minarelli vertical hybrid so it's interesting to see there are other passionate people out there with deep pockets lol. If you haven't painted the exhaust already, or keep the idea for future builds - have you considered ceramic coating instead of normal high temp paint ? I treated various exhaust-related components using this process during my big-horsepower Nissan Skyline project and it's amazing !!! Not only does the final finish looks great, ceramic coating helps big-time in controlling temperatures ! Especially the radiated heat. It's not cheap but if you powercoated your frame then you can afford to ceramic coat your pipe. Try it !
My pops did the silver color coating on his headers and the floor went from too hot to be barefoot comfortable to no problem in the summer heat. That stuff really works! I forget the company name. Not cera coat.
the reason your headset keeps coming loose is because your stem is mounted too far up. you need to cut the steerer tube down a little, tighten the stem down using the top cap and then tighten the stem clamp bolts.
Thank you for the break down. People think thing's are cheaper than they really are. Don't forget to add in your labor time for the build. Even though it's yours
If you ever get tired of mixing gas and oil, or cleaning the burned oil off the bike, like I did, you might want to consider the Monster 90 4 stroke bike kit. It has a 78.5cc OHV, air cooled 4 stroke with a chain drive system that needs to be swapped out with a Comet 20 torque convertor, that is like having a 3 speed transmission. They are Honda clone engines, and are very reliable, and will run for years with just an oil change, and the occasional new spark plug. I went a little nuts with my bike, and ordered the much larger Predator "Death Row" 212cc bike kit, and had to stretch the frame to get it to fit, for $500.00. The Monster 90 should fit your frame nicely, and keeps your speed down to "happy cop" speed. My 212 keeps me pushing the limits, so I had to re-install the throttle stop screw to keep my speed under 50mph. Bicycles are not built to go that fast, or carry the extra weight of an engine, and gas tank, so, a little caution, Locktite, and new lock washers is a good idea. It helps if you approach daily, and weekly maintenance like it was an airplane, and not a bike. You might live longer, too, as you become invisible, when riding a bike, to cage drivers. Rear view mirrors might be good, too. You need to use every advantage to stay alive. Nobody in a car expects a bicycle to go 50 mph. You are all alone, out there, beware. Ride like you are invisible, they won't disappoint. PS 80mph, are you crazy? You might as well be riding a banana. I also built my bike in Canada, so, it cost about 30% more, because of the exchange rate. Nice bike, thanks for the look.
i cant stand a thumb throttle lol, but i grew up on dirtbikes so im used to twist throttle. thats so cool u got friggin water cooling on your bike!!!! cool build brudda 🤙

Willie's set up is just as good but cheaper they not moto rims/tires but cnc hubs sealed bearings etc. Everything else is good IMO aside from headset that keeps coming loose cause its cheap
Nice review and finally one with a good expansion pipe! I found that you overpayed the welder by allot, i create expansion pipes for my 2 stroke toys and tools with a oxy acy torch all the time, if i would live near you i would probably do a much better job for less money tbh. I also found it disapointing that the welder didnt weld a exhaust bracket to fix it to the frame or engine.. None the less great video/review of your nice bike, I like it but personally i would have gone for a shifter bike and i would also add a silencer on that pipe because with out it the sound is really loud and sharp to the ears And i would also have gone for a front fork with suspension. Good video!!

If oil comes off that chain onto to the break disk. It will cause the break to fail in the rear be careful just a little oil on that disk and you will be done and not even know it. Worst part of disk breaks on any bike. Oil gets on it from the chain or from oiling the chain. DANGER!!!

I just got a flex muffler with a silencer for $30 it was $60 on Amazon from the USA not China you get to choose USA or China get it quicker
@@starballs2009 thank you.... you can also get them from our site ... blakoonmotorizedbikes.com/products/dlh-cnc-high-performance-clutch-plate-kit
Thanks
The single lever dual brake set up is brilliant
That is one nice motorized bike and yes they are not cheap at all but well worth it that motor is off the hook .Awesome job.
Thx
Evans waterless Coolant would be a great addition... CAN REUSE...NEVER BREAKS DOWN...NASCAR USES IT....Nice build.
Thanks 🙏🏾
the reason your headset keeps coming loose is because your stem is mounted too far up. you need to cut the steerer tube down a little, tighten the stem down using the top cap and then tighten the stem clamp bolts.
Thanks i will try this
@@LifeofMarcus make sure the stem cap is flush with the top of the stem.
Thank you for the break down. People think thing's are cheaper than they really are. Don't forget to add in your labor time for the build. Even though it's yours
It’s crazy expensive. Its the little things that add up
.
@@LifeofMarcus basically building a motorcycle persay
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i cant stand a thumb throttle lol, but i grew up on dirtbikes so im used to twist throttle. thats so cool u got friggin water cooling on your bike!!!! cool build brudda 🤙
pretty cool but these bikes are illegal to ride here in Michigan and pretty much everywhere . 3 k for a bike you cant ride . but i do have one just a cheap kit bike they are fun to ride . i dig the frame .
Who did you buy the motor from?
Shoulda bought a Honda Super Cub , lol, 3500.00, warranty
o7, nice build.
The bike that looks like yours I ordered from bikeberry mine has front suspension only thing it doesn't come with is a motor but I have one of those to put on it the Phantom
Your bike is not running hot for what it is. I would not worry about it too much. Nice bike man!
It broke again. I think it’s because of the over flow tank
it looks great, like one of those vintage race bikes
Thx man
It's definitely worth it. Awesome build.
I have seen a schinn form comfort seat with a tail light built-in and your ride is sweeeet Marcus
Thanks
@@LifeofMarcus I did pull the trigger for the seat from USA , thanks Marcus
Great video good break down.. BUT spending as much as you did on wheels $464 your better off going with ghetto bike wheels or willy wheels from "very bright bike lights" both have way better stronger hubs hoops bearings spokes.. for about the same price ghetto bikes moto rims think its like $520 for 19in moto rims sick set up dual brake rotors on the front..
Willie's set up is just as good but cheaper they not moto rims/tires but cnc hubs sealed bearings etc.
Everything else is good IMO aside from headset that keeps coming loose cause its cheap
A piece of art bro, and excellent, no bullshit instructional video, thanks!
Videos only getting better
Love the looks of this bike. Question though if you spent a good amount on the front forks why not get suspension too? Wouldnt it be a smoother ride?
Thank you! I was wondering that same thing!
Thanks and be well.
Sincerely,
Alicia from Sweden
Nice review and finally one with a good expansion pipe!
I found that you overpayed the welder by allot, i create expansion pipes for my 2 stroke toys and tools with a oxy acy torch all the time, if i would live near you i would probably do a much better job for less money tbh.
I also found it disapointing that the welder didnt weld a exhaust bracket to fix it to the frame or engine..
None the less great video/review of your nice bike,
I like it but personally i would have gone for a shifter bike and i would also add a silencer on that pipe because with out it the sound is really loud and sharp to the ears
And i would also have gone for a front fork with suspension.
Good video!!
Yeah i do agree with you. After building this i would have changed alot about it
A marcuss...80mph...65 is the max speed limit in us.. to increase the max speed a reduced gear cog on the back rim. 30 tooth will be double the speed of a 60 cog...so far 2k$ for bike and upgrades. just need fenders and it will look street legal.. fro some reason i no see serial numbers for the phatmoto...yes you will save that much in fuel, insurance, maintenance if you drive it to work...running ride video posted...
You should do more comparison shopping Amazon is str8 gankin folks. And you lucked out with that frame, I recently returned 2 because they came with dented head tubes.
Damn bro that sucks
Get a copper head gasket made for it then spray copper gasket spray sealent on it that way you can re use the gasket over & over again & it'll give you a better seal
That wont work because the Grooves are cut in so deep. But i tried using grey gasket maker and that hold for 10 mins
@@LifeofMarcus grooves you mean water channel's if so you can get them pre cut to the original gasket they make copper gasket for bike's & they seal better too & you can re use them too but it's your bike buddy just trying to save you money
I was taking about the grooves for the orings to go. I would need to seal that. Do u have a link for the cooper ones?
@@LifeofMarcus showe performance of Ebay I got mine for the dt125r but I don't no if they sell them for the bike kit engine type but they will make you one up just make a replica from cornflake box then send them the pattern you made that gives them something to make the copper one from I don't no how to do the link thing on here buddy but its Ebay like I said above mate what's that top end of anyway is it off a moped scooter type if so just Google make scooter top end gasket whatever make its off
Nice bike!,always wanted to build one but not really that fast!,lol that's a little too fast for me! I have everything I need, except the motors which I had just sent away for,one was about 150.00 dollars and the other was close to 300.00 dollars, but yours is really a nice ride,I hope mine turn out just a little like yours. Thanks for the number crunching helps out alot to see what it takes to start and finish a project like that!. thank you again, great vid. Peace
Np, later Randy.
I know I'm 4 months late but for any bolt that keeps coming loose go to your local auto parts store and buy some blue locktite
Crazy thing is i used red, the forks are just cheap
Aye nice build! i’m rebuilding my schwinn rn, just repainted it waiting on the new motor 5hp 36t sprocket, 3 spoke mag wheels 1.75” kevlar tires and a stage 3 clutch assembly from Ryan Darra (RDManu) and that’ll be the build for the season until i get my new frame and we can switch everything onto over the winter
That would be a dope setup.
I would never spend that much on a mountain bike but it looks like you've put alot of effort into it so I can't take that away from you. It looks good if I didn't look closer I would assume it's a legit motorbike
Some people just built different. This is my hobby
walk into any bike shop, you will see $3000 mountain bikes/road bikes everywhere , without motors
Really cool bike. I am in Costa Rica and have a 110 cc /2 stroke bike. But head temperature a concern.
Love the water cooled engine ! Never saw before !
Nice Work Attention to detail Looks Badass !!
Thanks
and i bought mine built for $200, obviously not with these high end parts and it only goes like 40, but its still a fun little pit bike
Bro this a beautiful bike. I like the gold anadized detailes it's a nice touch. The whole bike looks sweet. I'm considering building a bike but i usually go all out. I'm into the rc hobby and i don't want to sell anything for extra cash but i should. Thank you for the details.
My bro got this bike hooked up it’s expensive but it’s worth it that bike is fire 👏
They can get really expensive. Sometime its not worth it. Its all about the what kind of bike you want at the end
Bruh that's wild. Also crazy seeing the pedals still on it!
Yeah i know. 🤫
I found the weak point yesterday. my rear axle snapped at 45mph and threw me down on my side at 40. I literally just slowed down from a short burst at 60mph. I need a hub that can handle the speed
dont know why but i always love a good motorized bike build. holy shit thats awesome!
It was worth it but at the same thing it wasn’t. But i just wanted to do something different
Sick bike and awesome video bro, that bike must feel awesome to ride
If oil comes off that chain onto to the break disk. It will cause the break to fail in the rear be careful just a little oil on that disk and you will be done and not even know it. Worst part of disk breaks on any bike. Oil gets on it from the chain or from oiling the chain. DANGER!!!
Thanks, one of the reasons why i most of my braking power comes from the front.
only issue I saw was the exhaust on the head.u could tune that better .expansion chamber would do u better..tuned right
Your right, its still a work in progress
@@LifeofMarcus lol they always r..I mean that with love bro...u r crushing it keep it up lock tight is ur best friend ..keep in mind I dont use it right away gotta let the motor seat then back down and lock tight..not the head of course
NICE BIKE! Someday I'll be there, I hope. The water pump runs off the magneto shaft?
Question.. can these bikes be pedaled like a regular bike if you wanted
YES
I would be very nice if you added a dirt bike or cafe racer style seat it would look more like a motorcycle at the top.
I just might, i had this seat laying around.
Awesome bike !!! Great thorough breakdown.. awesome awesome bike. Has great character. Sweet customs..ya did.
Thanks for watching
My goal is to build a 75mph bike I’m building my first one just a plain Jane yd100 with nitrous! Have you considered using nitrous on your build
Yeah i for bikes I forgot its backwards, more braking in the front vs back. With bikes its so you dont flip over the bar. Lucky this bike is so rear heavy i dont see myself flipping even if i slam on them.
Nice build! Nice to gather around some parts on a low budget and build something beautiful and fun. Love the caferacer styling and blue color.
Thanks
@@LifeofMarcus Painted an MTB frame today. Color blue turned out to be the same kind, French racing blue, thought it would be lighter 😂 Nice coincidence
Absolutely love the bike. Great work Bro.
Thanks bro
Looks cool...I love the water cooling
I made mine for about 285 dollars dirt cheap but how it a good way to hide the cables
I still haven’t found a stage 2 clutch on Amazon or eBay smh. You are So lucky
Some guy on Facebook sold it to me
