Another old blues song Led Zeppelin turned into an epic masterpiece. Master class vocals, instrumentation, rhythm changes, improvisation, and Jimmy was on fire. Great choice of song.
Good to see you hitting Led Zeppelin again, and a great blues epic for sure! No one does blues rock like them, they are the industry standard for blues rock or hard rock and no one does acoustic as good as them, either! Simply the best, great song and nice reaction my dear, you put a smile on the face f this old hippie! For more Zeppelin excellence, try What Is and What Should Never Be, live in 1970, the video is great and a young Led Zeppelin is staking their claim to world's best Rock Band. You will love it, enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Yes! That one doesn't get reacted to enuff, i don't think. Same for the (admittedly long but who cares, lol) "How many more times" from that same show!
That ALS performance @ Knebworth is exceptional. So the story goes When Jimmy played his demo of ALS to Keith Richards he said “ it’s brilliant but you’ll never play it live “ . It’s an incredible and brilliant achievement and was a huge risk which they absolutely smashed.
Bob Dylan included this song, 'In My Time of Dying', in it's near original traditional folk style on his 1st self titled debut album , 'Bob Dylan' I like both versions... as far as Zeppelin goes, they finally gave in and covered a Dylan song like just about everyone who was ever anybody eventually did, I don't know of any other bands that ever covered this song, though there may be, but here Led Zeppelin did it in a way ONLY Led Zeppelin can.... Awesome performance, showmanship musical skills.
And that, boys and girls, is how you play lead and rhythm guitar at the same time! Gotta be one of the most powerful songs in rock and no band can play off each other in a live performance the way they do. Amazing.
Steph. You obviously enjoyed that made even better by the fact you never interrupted it. Rock at its finest. Pity you weren’t born 60+ years earlier. You’d have been there and loved every second
Older bro, I assume. Mine too, two years older, turned me on to so many great bands, sometimes just from walking by his room and hearing stuff, lol. Circa 1977-1982, good education!
I think you would like the song (Ten Years Gone) I recommend the studio version, there is a lot of guitar layering, and it falls somewhat flat live. The studio version is very rich and full.
We are all very fortunate to still have Earls Court Concert, the film wasn't stored at the proper temperature & color highlight shade began to bleed & get garbled as part of the coverage was used great effect, anyway it all had to be put in an oven environment at just the right temperature for just the right amount of time to restore the clearity of the images,THNX Production Team,SHOUT OUT LOUD OUT YO!!!!!❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
As we all watched "In My Time Of Dying" I noticed that Steph had good eyes when she mentioned "look at Jimmy's fingers,he's fast".. I"am glad she picked up on that because every live show she will see,it gets even more faster... It does not get any more better than Jimmy Page.🌙⭐️⚘️🎸
This comes directly off the Led Zeppelin Live DVD. It's still available on Amazon. If you want a great collection of Zeppelin live performances, this is the thing you want.
10:05 Robert appreciating Jimmy and the band's excellent performance here kind of reminded me of myself as I broke into smiles and nodded my approval for your marvelous reactions to this amazing live performance of one of their greatest songs, thanks!
Awesome, you reacted to the best version of the song. There's another video from the same string of concerts, different night. This one is the absolute best. Just perfection from all four of them.
They surely know how to push all the right buttons + they invented some new ones. I´m hooked since the early 70s ;-) Don´ forget that Rock solid (pun intended) fundament of John Bonham and John Paul Jones... not only sideman but integral parts of that everlasting monument called Led Zeppelin.
@@juliemanarin4127 For that song, definitely do the studio version from the Presence album, or at least do it first. It's so much better than the live Knebworth version. By 1979 alcohol and heroin abuse had left Jimmy Page only a shadow of his former self, and Plant could no longer hit his high notes. That entire Knebworth show was meh at best, by Zeppelin's lofty standards. Conversely, the studio version of Achilles' Last Stand was Zeppelin's final great work, their culminating epic..their swan song.

75% of their music, at least, is American blues based. It's a kind of turbo charged, slightly psychedelic version of the blues. But this number is classic blues. They cover classic blues songs and artists. But, with great innovation and brilliance. Great musicians, and they worked fabulously with each other as an ensemble.
This is a cover of the old Gospel song, “Jesus, Make Up My Dying Bed”. It is about a man who is about to die and he wants to make sure Jesus will forgive him and take him up to Heaven. Intense.
Now check out the other version from Earls Court 1975... One is May 24, orher is May 25... They are very similar but different... I like the ending of the one you didnt see (or hear) I can't remember which is which. The one you reacted to was from official "Led Zeppelin DVD" I like the ending of the "bootleg" better!

I personally love the May 25th version much better, I think the improve, especially by Plant is so much better. Jimmy’s guitar playing & video quality is Al better. I’d hardly call it sloppy by any means.
Personally, I love the May 25th version with the You Shook Me improv - Robert’s vocals are exceptional and I don’t really see it as sloppy, just Zeppelin doing their thing which is never the same ‘thing’ twice.

As I said before, Led Zeppelin came from another world, and Jimmy came from a "galaxy far, far away"...
They were absolutely MAGNIFICENT!! Do Achillies Last Stand live at knebworth in 1979!! And THIS is why they were the greatest band ever!!
Rock on, Julie...rock on. Heh. 😎

Greatest Band Ever.
Zeppelin was my first live concert.
1977 and I was 17 years old
I miss the 70's
Greatest choice Dave ! Congrats !!
I was 13 and miss the 70’s too
Never forget John Paul Jones , never mentioned , but probably the most accomplished musician of them all.
Those runs when they break it down make me tear up.
Yeah I agree. So amazing and he carried them when they were weak.
Certainly the most versatile one too!
He was composing for LZ (Ramble On) and others, playing multiple instruments and has his solo career...
He kept the songs locked down when the rest of the band were going off the rails
