Led Zeppelin is not like a group that existed, faded away and forgotten . They are a living legendary group that their music will out live them until the end of time.
Thus their ticket sales requests for Celebration Day, like 20+ million requests in an hour or something. It was insane, set world records. If they got together now for some charity concert, same thing would happen. they're legendary! hope they know how much they're appreciated and loved.
Remember: This is ONE SONG, in a 3-1/2 hour show, in a series of five consecutive nights of 3-1/2 hour shows, with each song and each performance being improvised differently each time. They really had no peer.
It’s crazy right. One time I did the math, and between their first show in 1968 to the end of their 1973 North American tour Led Zeppelin played 438 shows in 1,786 days… which means if you spread it out they played a show every 4th night… three days off, a show, three days off, a show…. For almost 5 years! The shows filmed for “the song remains the same” are the last shows of that epic 5 years… Led Zeppelin then took a well deserved 18 months off before touring again.
I don't think it was 3 and a half hour show. I wasn't there but my brother was and I'm sure he'd have mentioned such a long show. I saw them at Knebworth in 1979 and they played for no more than 2 hours.
Every band or performer has some uniqueness about them. Led Zeppelin has an endless list of unique features. Great catch on Roberts vocals being on with Pages guitar. Very often Bonzo's drums follow the guitar. They also do many strange thing with time signatures. And their arrangements of the songs is just jaw dropping. Saw them in 1975 & 1977. They are signature moments in my life! Great choice guys!
And I find that strange, since the drummer follows the guitar, and JPJ follows the drums. certainly they broke a lot of norms. I'm a drummer but one of pretty limited knowledge.
As a slide guitar junky, this song sits atop my slide hall of fame. Then you add the performances of Page, Jones, and Bonham...well they just push the "goose bump" button everytime I hear this song. Your reaction and comments were spot on. Thanks.
Robert said it started in the deep south of America (where the song "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" was originally written and performed by Blind Willie Johnson) and ended up at Earls Court. Bob Dylan also covered this song.
This version is IMHO that John Paul Jones is likely the most underrated bassist in rock history. Page is working the slide, Bonham is doing triple fills right and left, and Plant is practically headbanging - while Jones is not only keeping up but holding his own as well. Yep - Underrated.
I followed Led Zeppelin around for three tours back in the day. First time I saw them was in 1969 I think in Portland Oregon. I recommend you put the link to the songs that you review in the notes.
You mentioned in an Allman Bros reaction that you were getting more interested in the blues. Given your love of Led Zeppelin, you need to check out "You Shook Me", "Bring It On Home", "Ramble On", "I Can't Quit You Babe" and "What Is And Should Never Be". Rock and Blues combined!
I think this song is the most impressive song that shines a spotlight on John Bohnam`s exceptional drumming skills, this is precisely why many would argue that he was the best ever! Now you guys have got to do the studio version on "Kashmir"...greatest song in history!
This is up for one of my favorite L.Z. Tunes! The GOATS! 😎👏👏👏👏😂👏👏👏👏👏👏 Bonzo...that’s statin in the Well! Show her the M.S.G. 1973 concert! Especially Since I’ve been loving you. They all are great but tune is another master piece.
Actually the riff you remembered from “School of Rock” was from “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple. They are similar but the Smoke riff is the intro to the song. You should definitely react to that one.
Hey ! I wanted to recommend the entire 26 minutes of Dazed and Confused from the Madison Square Garden for review. Hope you review it. Must be viewed in it's entirety to catch the explosive guitar soloing towards the end.
LZ's records were great, but their best live performances were phenomenal, and this is one of 'em imo...one of my very faves by anyone...lots to unpack here...
So it stands to reason that if Zeppelin is the greatest rock band ever, and if IMTOD is their greatest song, then that makes this the greatest song ever, right? Well, that's the reality I choose to live in, anyway. lol
This band , This band. RockStars Forever. The ESP they had live is unmatched. The rythem section killin' it as always. Jimmy is so good with the slide. Plant , best fromtman.
If you get the chance to watch Led Zeppelins movie "The Song Remains The Same", which is their concert at MSG in 1975, you are in for a wild ride!! Their improvisation is something that will never be replicated...masters of rock!! Robert and Jimmy do have that interaction with each other, each trying to imitate the other with the guitar and Roberts voice called "call & response"🎵🎸🎶🎵
I was 14 when they did this concert, I wasn't into it yet , but at 15 my cousin gave me side 3&4 of Physical Graffiti and that was it, being a fan and they were still out there, no You Tube, no videos, just music, a good time.
Good call on Jack Black quoting from this song in "School of Rock"!! Not sure I recall it exactly cos ive only seen that excellent movie once, but it's as good an excuse as any to see it again! Of course, Jack Black is an insanely rabid Zephead himself, if you didn't know. He was--the pun must be excused--instrumental in getting Zep's permission to play "Immigrant Song" in the famous van on the road scene. IMTOD is one of my fave Zep tracks. JPJ is KILLING the bass here as well!
This song is one of my two favorite lives, though this isn’t even the best version. Same venue at Earls Court, but the May 25,1975 is an even better version. Since they never perform a song the same way twice, certain concerts & or nights are better then others.
when I outlined my burial plan with the mortuary I requested this song be played at the funeral services along with Stairway to heaven. hopefully it will be awhile.
It seems Page always gets such a kick out of how insync he and Bonzo are, how they play off and just compliment each other so well. Robert smiling too. What a band. NO wonder they could't, wouldn't go on w/out Bonham. Even if they felt musically like they could (NO WAY) I doubt they would have, he was their bandmate, partner and dear friend.
I've heard this song since it came out, and have never heard such a great vocal performance from Robert Plant. His voice on any album was always superb, but in concert he was better some times than others; the high notes were a problem. But this one is perfect.
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED??? I love drumming to this one for sure. And I think that bass drum is probably 26", it just looks massive. John Henry Bonham is considered by many to be the best rock drummer of all time, but let's not get into that. He's elite for damn sure. Needless to say, all of them are.
Led Zeppelin is not like a group that existed, faded away and forgotten . They are a living legendary group that their music will out live them until the end of time.
That;s deep man.
Like many others of that era !
Thus their ticket sales requests for Celebration Day, like 20+ million requests in an hour or something. It was insane, set world records. If they got together now for some charity concert, same thing would happen. they're legendary! hope they know how much they're appreciated and loved.

Yeah he’s definitely protecting his voice here which I can understand
My God, what a tempo
@@JU5TINPDX And they still found time for writing new material etc, my God
I don't think it was 3 and a half hour show. I wasn't there but my brother was and I'm sure he'd have mentioned such a long show. I saw them at Knebworth in 1979 and they played for no more than 2 hours.
Four masters of what they do. Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones.
Plus the fifth master...the author...Blind Willie Johnson !
@@giuliogrifi7739 Yup, my failure. Willie Should have been included as the author.
Plus Peter Grant

Well said.
...beautiful bass 🔥
As awesome as Page is in this, Jones and Bonham are insane during those two solos.
JPJ was the glue that held it all together, in so many ways.
Robert Plant is the quintessential rock singer. He is so spontaneous. He doesn't have to copy anyone else. He bares his soul. Nobody can touch him.
John and Jimmy are often in a different time signature but they do it in a way that works.
Love how your missus got excited when she recognized a part of the song...she is super cool
Album version is an absolute masterpiece
Should have done album first. Plus Bonzo’s drums weren’t miked very well.
I actually prefer this live version just because of Jones and Bonham during those two solo sections. Plus Plants voice sounds better here.
He used larger drums than other drummers were using at the time. He was a big part of a drummer evolution
Without LED Zeppelin there would be no other great bands we hear today.
Led Zeppelin also wrote & preform The Immigrant Song, that is done on The School Of Rock.
Zeppelin is timeless. Greatest group ever. In the studio or live. They were the best.
I followed Led Zeppelin around for three tours back in the day. First time I saw them was in 1969 I think in Portland Oregon. I recommend you put the link to the songs that you review in the notes.
I was there. Earls Court, London, May 1975. Awesome. Legends. GOATS.
Best concert I’ve seen Led Zeppelin April 25, 1977 I’ve been to a lot of concerts but that hands down yeah.
Anything with slide gutair I'm gonna love...I love the live version
You mentioned in an Allman Bros reaction that you were getting more interested in the blues. Given your love of Led Zeppelin, you need to check out "You Shook Me", "Bring It On Home", "Ramble On", "I Can't Quit You Babe" and "What Is And Should Never Be". Rock and Blues combined!

Brutal Artistry, Disc 1 track 9 is a fine example of Bonzo's superhuman drumming skill also.
Bohnam also played to the guitar as opposed to the bass, often...3 front men w/ JPJ holding it together.
This song is a pure eargasm!!!
4 individuals that truly are not from planet Earth .. Greatest band ever
another blues classic from back in the day that LZ adapted and re-shaped into a modern epic
I love the reactions of other performing musicians. You guys seem to appreciate the level of musicianship and artistic talent of this band.
Robert could take you to church with that voice if he wants to.
Actually that riff in School of Rock was not Led Zeppelin. It was Smoke on the water by Deep Purple.
I am only going to heaven if they have the entire Zeppelin collection.
Hello Chad. I’m so happy that you truly LOVE this great and unique band. Rock on!!
Check out the short UA-cam video of Jack Black pleading with Led Zeppelin for them to use the Immigrant Song in the School of Rock movie
Dee- can you see why we call Robert Plant the Golden God? Major Delta Blues influence on this one. I saw them as a teen in 69.
Actually the riff you remembered from “School of Rock” was from “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple. They are similar but the Smoke riff is the intro to the song. You should definitely react to that one.
I think Jack Black has the kid play the "smoke on the water" by Deep Purple, riff in School of Rock. Nice reaction Zeppelin rules!
Thanks for checking out my favorite band since 69
Lo más hermoso e inmenso lo mejor de los mejores
John Bohnam and John Paul Jones deserve mad props for the insanely rock solid rhythm on this and every Zeppelin song!!!
Hey ! I wanted to recommend the entire 26 minutes of Dazed and Confused from the Madison Square Garden for review. Hope you review it. Must be viewed in it's entirety to catch the explosive guitar soloing towards the end.
First. And yes. Amazing charisma and stage presence.
There is Led Zeppelin and there is everybody else.
Love this you two!! The Blues!!! 😊🎸🌵🇱🇷🙏
Its always good to get the Led out 😊
Jimmy and Robert are both Bob Dylan fans and he did the song in 1962 on his first album.
Chod do you know what time it is? It's dinner time and time to get The Led out❗
🔈🔉🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊
LZ's records were great, but their best live performances were phenomenal, and this is one of 'em imo...one of my very faves by anyone...lots to unpack here...
More live Zeppelin from the Madison Square Garden concert ! The song Whole Lotta Love.
My all time number one drummer hero and he only used one pedal. His shuffle is still iconic along with TOTO's Rosanna.
Talk about the FEELZ. Rock n Roll spirituality! They were at the peak of their live performing here in '75. Top notch.
So it stands to reason that if Zeppelin is the greatest rock band ever, and if IMTOD is their greatest song, then that makes this the greatest song ever, right? Well, that's the reality I choose to live in, anyway. lol
@5:52 spot-on analysis by Wil-B
You can't go off on a Solo like that without a rhythm section laying down that Concrete base like JPJ & JHB. That Bass is insane.
The term you may be looking for to describe Plant’s performance is ‘stage presence’ and/or ‘chrisma’, imo. 😏
This band , This band. RockStars Forever. The ESP they had live is unmatched. The rythem section killin' it as always. Jimmy is so good with the slide. Plant , best fromtman.
Aren't they magnificent?

Saw this magnificent band in 1973. A lesson in rock.
The Drummer is killing it. Damn!!!
Perfect sync with the guitar ❤️
Eran , y seran los mejores los mas grandes de la historia
I was 14 when they did this concert, I wasn't into it yet , but at 15 my cousin gave me side 3&4 of Physical Graffiti and that was it, being a fan and they were still out there, no You Tube, no videos, just music, a good time.
So lucky that I grew up in the 70's. Always waiting for the next album by Zeppelin, Elton, or Pink Floyd. Rarely disappointed.
the''' best intro to any reaction video
She is talkng about the guitar and I know you are thinking about the drummer killing it !!
Good call on Jack Black quoting from this song in "School of Rock"!! Not sure I recall it exactly cos ive only seen that excellent movie once, but it's as good an excuse as any to see it again! Love Zeppelin best when they do the blues...
Trampled under foot- Live & Heart's tribute of Stairway to Heaven, next please!!
My first time seeing it live!
Nice to see you bang n them things aka drums in your intro
That's the stuff. Why they were THE band of the '70s.
I often listen or play this on Sunday mornings; I call it attending The Church of the Steel Slide.
Can only imagine what they would have done if John Bonham had not have died! Every member of this band were amazing!
Absolutely Jimmy's best live solo(s)
masters of the universe

The band was feeling it that night...😊
I believe the riff in school of rock was deep purple smoke on the water.
I'd never noticed it was the same three notes though. Maybe someone could Beato them for us.
It's great you have the boss in there with you....
Their timing was amazing!
From my second self owned cassette early 70s. Still have the actual cassette🤣🇧🇻
Chod and Dee, if you like Led Zep blues tunes, you should check out their song "Travelling Riverside Blues." Just like this one, it's a masterpiece!
THE BASS LINE!!!
Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple in School Of Rock.
This song is one of my two favorite lives, though this isn’t even the best version. Same venue at Earls Court, but the May 25,1975 is an even better version. Since they never perform a song the same way twice, certain concerts & or nights are better then others.
I’ve never seen anyone play the slide like Jimmy Page. Don’t forget JPJ on that fretless bass right there with Jimmy.
You should look in to Ry Cooder. Slide guitar extraordinaire
Bonzo goes off on this song.
Man what a workout for Bonham! 😳
when I outlined my burial plan with the mortuary I requested this song be played at the funeral services along with Stairway to heaven. hopefully it will be awhile.
So Nasty!!! Such a great song for Zep to cover. Delta Blues to the core.
9:45.
You’re getting the riff mixed up with Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple.
Similar, but not the same.
As far as Page & Plant following & playing off of each other, it's known as call & response. I understand it's a staple out of the Blues.
Playing in different time stamps (?) It's not easy to do either, but it does make the individuals each stand out.
It was Smoke On The Water. By the way Jack Black is a massive Zep fan.
I've heard this song since it came out, and have never heard such a great vocal performance from Robert Plant. His voice on any album was always superb, but in concert he was better some times than others; the high notes were a problem. But this one is perfect.
Roots in 1920’s Gospel Music.
9:50 I think you’re referring to Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED??? I love drumming to this one for sure. And I think that bass drum is probably 26", it just looks massive. John Henry Bonham is considered by many to be the best rock drummer of all time, but let's not get into that. He's elite for damn sure. Needless to say, all of them are.
I want this song played at
my funeral have a nice day 😉
Bonzo kept a timpani (kettle) drum to his left.
