swoobat, frosmoth, and vivillon arent that bad. They have utility that helps them get stronger such as with swoobat it has simple which is great on it especially with calm mind and stored power, vivillon has sleep powder, quiver dance, and hurricane, while frosmoth has ice scales which makes it really bulky actually and it had quiver dance which makes it scary to face against if you do a misplay
I'm sad that Delcatty has such horrible stats, because it's so cute, and one of my favorite Pokémon design wise. Wish it could be as op as it is in Mystery Dungeon.
In defense of frosmoth, with its hidden ability and quiver dance, its capable of not only tanking but absolutely demolishing others. That's without items being taken into account, such as the assault vest. While it has you forgo quiverdance and focus solely on offensive moves, it can practically tank nearly any special attack. Regardless of, its main concern are physical attacks.
Fin fact, ariados used to have the same BST as ledian until gen 7 where it got a measly +10 sp def buff and the signature move toxic thread while ledian didn’t even get anything.
Frosmoth does have its HA saving it from being the weakest in Galar, imo. Ice Scales is a broken ability in a vacuum; halving the damage of all special attacks used against it. The combination of that, Quiver Dance, and a high Special Attack makes it able to eat some special hits, setup, and wreck house. I can't say the same for Thievul. Thievul's niche is... Unburden, I guess? The idea is to Nasty Plot up, activate an item, then deal damage with +2/+2. But Thievul not only has a lower Special Attack than Frosmoth, it also has a weaker offensive typing. And what item could it even use? Terrain seeds require a ton of external help from other mons - at that point, you might as well just start Baton chaining boosts onto it. Pinch berries require it to Sub up, which it finds hard to do reliably with its middling speed and poor bulk. And other stuff like Focus Sash, type berries, hit-by-a-type boosters, etc are also very inconsistent and usually rely on your opponent making certain moves - for Focus Sash specifically, one wrong tap (be it chip damage or an attack that barely misses OHKOing it) ruins the entire strategy. So basically, Thievul is trash while Frosmoth is decent-ish. I still would have liked Frosmoth to have Volcarona stats, though.
Yeah, Ice Scales is such a good ability that it's banned in Almost Any Ability (a Hackmons metagame where Pokémon are still restricted to their normal movepools, but like the name says, can have illegal abilities). Basically, it's thought that the ability is so good that it would be broken if Frosmoth didn't have such bad stats and typing.
Hmm, it feels like abilities were ignored in this analysis. An obvious one to point out is Swoobat, given Simple is an ability that can easily run away with a game. But I think the biggest disagreeance I have with this list is Frosmoth. If you hone in on its physical weakness, I can understand that. But it has Ice Scales, an insane defensive ability coupled with its already decent SpDef. This thing has insane special bulk. In my own SwSh run, a slightly underleveled Frosmoth with this ability and an Assault Vest was able to tank Leon's G-Max Wildfire while Frosmoth was not dynamaxed. I remember being incredibly impressed with it from there onward. So I'd personally argue Thievul beats out Frosmoth as "wimpier."
Swoobat in my opinion is not that wimpy, one of it's abilities simple, doubles the power of Critical Hits and Stat Modification moves, with substitude, calm mind, stored power and some sort of coverage move, it sweeps
Dude. Frosmoth has ice scales.. reduces special attacks damage by half. with that ability it can be a special tank. and with quiver dance and some solid coverage.. just keep it from rock n fire and you have a good mon.
They should make Bug type Pokémon to appear in later GYMs so they can have stats of 530 so they can become better in battle like Volcarona and Cizor are.
All they really have to do is bring another type out and make it ALMOST op but give it a weakness to bug or retroactively give bug a strength to one of the most common types and they'd be much more viable even with their stats
It's a real shame; bug is my second favorite type after steel and they've got some real bangers: heracross, the scyther line, Lokix is one of my favorite mons from Scarlet and Violet. But to say nothing else, even the wimpiest bugs manage to (mostly) look cool.
Oh Heracross is easily in my top 10 Pokemon of all! And there are plenty of other cool ones like Vikavolt and Centiskorch, so it's got great potential.
Araquanid is pretty strong IMO, has good bulk and its signature ability water bubble turns Liquidation from an 85 base power to 170 BEFORE stab is applied so after stab applied its 255. It also has access to Lunge which wont hit that hard but should be decent chip damage while also making it a stronger physical wall
If they ever do 4 stage line they should really give it to a regional bug. It can have 3 quick evolutions like a standard bug, and then a 4th late in the game to bring its stats up to snuff. So that it's worth it to keep the bug around until the end.
Fun fact about frosmoth. I use one competatively. It's not that bad honestly. Give it a timid nature, and irs hidden ability ice scales make it only 2x weak fire as long as it's a special attack. Heavy Duty Boots won't hurt it when it comes to stealth rock. Once Quiver dance us up it even sweeps rock types with giga Drain. It's a great pokemon actually of you use it right.
HEY! This marks the second time you've put Haxorus in the thumbnail for a video about weaker pokemon! ('Who's the Weakest strongest pokemon?' was the other video) It was a relief to see he wasn't actually considered in the Unova region here, but he also belongs no where near the thumbnail for videos such as these! Leave the mono type dragon with a behemoth level attack stat alone! D:
I honestly didn't realize that, I certainly didn't mean to pidgeon-hole Haxorus as weak; I just put it here to be provocative since they clearly weren't wimps...
Beedrill is fantastic in Gen 1. It was a mainstay in my team in my Let's Play. 4x damage against Grass/Poison and 2x against Poison types? It's great against a lot of the trainers you'll face, especially if you don't want to bring Psychic types everywhere (for variety, of course)!
You did my boy Kricketune dirty especially in the Burmy region. He has sword dance and sticky web. I brought one all the way against Cynthia in BDSP and he made Garchomp a snack.

Parasect is my favorite pokemon because it gets spore and false swipe. Late game, you can use it to start collecting all the pokemon for your pokedex without having to switch out as much
@@Compucles That's true, it's not for serious battles. But it can be one of the most useful in games where it receives these 2 moves. For something I'd never use on my team in gen 1, it's probably a poison type like arbok, muk, or weezing
This makes me wonder what Pokémon have the biggest evolution upgrades. Not even as a base form to final evolution change, just what Pokémon gets the biggest upgrade from evolving from it’s current form to the next
The best "challenge" mode I've used is just not evolving Pokemon; it can be pretty fun, but harder than usual to just use a Magnemite or a Solosis for a whole game without the improved stats!
Swoobat may be wimpy but I'm still thinking about using it. I happened to find a simple swoobat in a hidden grotto in white 2 so I'm considering exploiting that in a future playthrough.
Pretty cool video, it was fun to watch!!! But it also felt very surfaced level... Some spots just feel, weird¿ Like what do you mean Vivillon is bad that thing learns quiver dance. JDNCNSB
Parasect would have been completely broken in Gen 1 if it had a decent stat total focused on speed and special. Even more than Mewtwo. Spore is guaranteed to make a pokemon fall asleep. Imagine Parasect with an 80 or above speed and special stat with a move that guarantees you at least two free hits.

@@cornonjacob compound eyes boosts your accuracy by 30%.
that means that hurricane has an accuracy of 91%.
Yep I run this set. Compound eye it saving grace.
@@videakias3000 and sleep powder is more guarantee as well.
swoobat, frosmoth, and vivillon arent that bad.
My favorite Delcatty ever is Nugget Bud from Blast Burn Radio… they gave it Thunderbolt and Ice Beam from the Game Corner and it still died
6:28 "Strong evolved Pokémon" shows Boufallant
So I'd personally argue Thievul beats out Frosmoth as "wimpier."
so no one gonna talk about what the unowns spell out at 2:54? 🤨
🤣🤣🤣 that's awesome
Swoobat’s abilities combined with its speed and movepool do give it a couple of genuinely fun and hilarious setup gimmicks.
Spidops has a good ability. If they put an ability that punishes switching out on a pokemon with better stats that would be really good.
I love your content so much. This was creative and really good!
The fact you picked Swoobat and Frosmoth is crazy to me.
as a self proclaimed bug specialist... this video hurts. A couple of my favorite pokemon are on here.
The ability to Tera would help Parasect, but unfortunately, I don’t think it’ll be in the DLC. I hope I’m wrong though because the design is so good!
I would love to see a video with the top 6 best and worst T m's in generation 9. Although, that may have to wait until after the DLC…
Or top new signature move
@@Watch-0w1 If there are enough new signature moves then maybe a top 6 best and worst new signature moves or top 6 best signature moves?
I still love Kricketune. My first shiny when I was a kid. Dadadada WHOOOOP!
Swoobat in my opinion is not that wimpy, one of it's abilities simple, doubles the power of Critical Hits and Stat Modification moves, with substitude, calm mind, stored power and some sort of coverage move, it sweeps
2:56 dont worry I got it, fellow man of culture.
Furret is my main in Crystal. Ice Punch/Rollout/Amnesia/Defense Curl was Arley's moveset
420 stats and those big red eyes!?!?! They must have know what they were doing hahaha
I remember that the parasect was the 2nd Alpha I saw in Arceus and I couldn't help thinking that I just came across Pokemon's top wimp.
@@javiervalenzuela8284 just make is so bug is super effective against fairy and resists it as well
I just did a Heart Gold play through with an Arbok.
It was beastly 💪🏻
It's a real shame; bug is my second favorite type after steel and they've got some real bangers: heracross, the scyther line, Lokix is one of my favorite mons from Scarlet and Violet.
But to say nothing else, even the wimpiest bugs manage to (mostly) look cool.
Oh Heracross is easily in my top 10 Pokemon of all! And there are plenty of other cool ones like Vikavolt and Centiskorch, so it's got great potential.
But type isn't bad typing. Offensive they horrible but defensive pretty good. It resist ground and fighting , two most popular offesive
Poor Kricketune! Such a unique, classy (because of that legendary mustache), and hysterical design (because of mustache)
Also, Spidops is genuinely one of my favorite new mons out of Paldea. It’s just a cool all around Poké to me
Me too. I loved it so much I kept it on my play through team despite its low BST
@@zinniaq3020 so did I, it was still definitely useful despite its low total
It shiny is awesome along with klawf.
@@michaelcollazo7911 absolutely agree
If they ever do 4 stage line they should really give it to a regional bug. It can have 3 quick evolutions like a standard bug, and then a 4th late in the game to bring its stats up to snuff. So that it's worth it to keep the bug around until the end.
How funny would it be if they ONLY added 4th stages to lesser Pokemon and none of the usual ones like Charizard, Gengar, etc...?
swoobat has Simple to double its special attack and special defense in one turn with Calm Mind, and then sweep with STAB Stored Power
respect my bat 🙏
Fun fact about frosmoth. I use one competatively. It's not that bad honestly. Give it a timid nature, and irs hidden ability ice scales make it only 2x weak fire as long as it's a special attack. Heavy Duty Boots won't hurt it when it comes to stealth rock. Once Quiver dance us up it even sweeps rock types with giga Drain. It's a great pokemon actually of you use it right.
It's also 4X weak to rock (I know Tera helps a lot with that)
That water spider was actually a good challenge in the island challenge though, even if nothing compared to wishiwashi.
HEY! This marks the second time you've put Haxorus in the thumbnail for a video about weaker pokemon! ('Who's the Weakest strongest pokemon?' was the other video)
It was a relief to see he wasn't actually considered in the Unova region here, but he also belongs no where near the thumbnail for videos such as these! Leave the mono type dragon with a behemoth level attack stat alone! D:
I honestly didn't realize that, I certainly didn't mean to pidgeon-hole Haxorus as weak; I just put it here to be provocative since they clearly weren't wimps...
It is the first time ever that I see this mushroom from gen 7 (which I don't even know the name), never heard of it anywhere.
Shedinja got banned from National Dex OU on Showdown due to terastalization both Electric and Ground.
Swoobat have some pretty good sweep potentials with simples + setup moves + stored power
I love your vids
Thank you! You have excellent taste!
You did my boy Kricketune dirty especially in the Burmy region.
He has sword dance and sticky web. I brought one all the way against Cynthia in BDSP and he made Garchomp a snack.
1:15 to the point where I straight up called my butterfree in my Blue playthrough "Peak Early"
So no one is gonna talk about 2:55 ? With the unown?
Woobat was my first ever shiny Pokémon I caught in a play through so it’ll always have a special place in my heart. But I already liked it so it just boosted my adoration
Ok but we're all guilty of using a trash Pokemon because their cool.
I just think they're neat! 😄
I used a trash team for HG and Ledian was absolutely useless compared to the other trash mons I expected Corsola and Magcargo to be bad but they helped out a ton thanks to their passable attacking stats paired with high powered moves like Surf and Flamethrower
The team:
Ledian
Dunsparce
Sunflora
Magcargo
Corsola
Delibird
Ledian can't even find success against Karen despite it's Bug and Fighting moves
Oh for sure, I use underwhelming Pokemon all the time. I sometimes even DON'T evolve them on purpose!
Amazing work on the video as always Emperor Cubone! You’ve grown a LOT these past what? 2 years? I’ve been around since you had around 12-13k and next thing I know, you have 120k+! Congrats man! I’m so proud of how far you and your channel have come! Keep up the fantastic work!
Swoobat has simple, nasty plot and stored power. It is not the wimp of gen 5
Thump nails like that are gonna get you in trouble insulting haxorus like that 😂
Spidops in the "bugs I hate" part lel
Parasect is my favorite pokemon because it gets spore and false swipe. Late game, you can use it to start collecting all the pokemon for your pokedex without having to switch out as much
That doesn't make it any less wimpy in serious battles. These are the *wimpiest* Pokémon, not the most useless ones.
@@Compucles That's true, it's not for serious battles. But it can be one of the most useful in games where it receives these 2 moves. For something I'd never use on my team in gen 1, it's probably a poison type like arbok, muk, or weezing
I was at the comment section ready to defend my girl nidoqueen... but I'm glad I stood corrected
Nah, that was just to be provocative in the thumbnail...
You weren't the only one...
jumpluff is goat ! ( commented) before watching.) My boy better be number one
I guess you can say evolution is here to make you stronger but not the best
Pretty much; it is an improvement, but not a for sure way to come out on top.
Swoobat has simple, calm mind, and good coverage
This makes me wonder what Pokémon have the biggest evolution upgrades. Not even as a base form to final evolution change, just what Pokémon gets the biggest upgrade from evolving from it’s current form to the next
Ironically I think it might be Sunkern; even though Sunflora is not a great evolution it more than doubles all of Sunkern's pitiful stats...
@@emperorcubone That would be an interesting twist for Sunkern to win at something positive for once lol
Yay a video 🎉🎉🎉🎉🗿
With how easy the games are these days, I go out of my way to use the Bug types. It’s the only way to present any sort of a challenge
The best "challenge" mode I've used is just not evolving Pokemon; it can be pretty fun, but harder than usual to just use a Magnemite or a Solosis for a whole game without the improved stats!
since gen 6 I wanted a bug \ fighting mega ledian so badly. it goes perfectly with its mach punch and comet punch combined with tecnichan
Or the Iron Fist ability that it also has; they really wanted it to be punch related, but didn't give it any power behind those punches...
I couldn't imagine the chiropractor bills Pokemon like Volcarona and Scizor have from carrying bug types so unbelievably hard
Swoobat may be wimpy but I'm still thinking about using it. I happened to find a simple swoobat in a hidden grotto in white 2 so I'm considering exploiting that in a future playthrough.
2:47 this pronunciation has caused my physical pain
You don't think it makes sense for this bird to have delivered something vs. working in a deli?
@@emperorcubone you have a point but I’ve always heard it as otherwise
They all need some anchor arms..
Gamefreak hated Aromatisse because they are jealous that it's design came out more fabulous that they can ever hope to be 💅
That is a funny joke.
What theme is the intro music called?
Pretty cool video, it was fun to watch!!!
But it also felt very surfaced level... Some spots just feel, weird¿
Like what do you mean Vivillon is bad that thing learns quiver dance.
Which of these wimpy pokemons do you guys think needs another evolution or at least a paradox form ?
How is pre-fairy poison a "solid typing" with only super effective damage against grass and (in gen 1) bug?
I am in my 30s and have been a Pokémon fan since literally the beginning. Yet I was still today years old when I learned that Delibird’s name is a pun for delivered. Holy crap.
Strong, evolved pokemon. Proceeds to show bouffalant.
Gollisopod litterally escapes when it gets too hurt
I love delcatty, swoobat, delibird, smeargle, shiinotic, and luvdisc
Not all, Pokémon have to be strong. Most of them are just wild animals and some animals in our world rely on other strategies different from fighting in order to survive.
True, and that's why certain ones like Watchog avoided the hammer, but plenty more animals are just wimps...
The title of this video should be roasting bug types for sport 😭
People have been doing that for decades!
@@emperorcubone lol😭... love your little takes ,u should definitely do video essays (longer videos ) I feel like your sense of humour plus your unique takeaways would really hit it off plus you have a awesome voice really asmry and podcast -esque if that makes sense 👍
Hah, it's funny you say that, just on Sunday my friends told me I should record for audio books or something because of my voice. I might have to try a long essay format at some point!
Araquanid shouldn't have been mentioned in this list because of it's amazing ability water bubble. hitting 2x as hard with any water attack, a fire resistance and immunity to burn is wild. Easily my fav mon to use for sticky webs as you can put a splash plate on and do great damage while switcing in to any scalds without worry
Delelewoop is a sad Bug pkmn: Kicketot takes ages to evolve (where are my Lv. 7 cocoon pkmn in Sinnoh?) & becomes this underachieving bug that can hold its own against no other mons.
Swoobat is a really nice Pkmn touse in BW until you get to the Desert Resort, where you can find Sigilyph.
Not to mention in Gen 4 Kricketot really only had Bide which it couldn't even survive to use, so it was even harder to evolve under its own power...
What the actual I've never realized Delibird went that hard.
Are you gonna be continuing the scarlet/violet let's play?
I honestly was worried when I saw Nidoqueen. It became one of my favorite moon stone evos during a let's go eevee where it tanked through Surge and Erika
Gotta respect the Nidos, they're both really good. Nidoking is even used in speedruns since it can evolve early as abuse the effect of x accuracy making it's horn drill never miss due to a bug. But really, it's pretty hard to go wrong with either one
When it has Dry Skin poor Parasect is basically 5x weak to fire.
I hope some day it gets redeemed with a bug/ghost evolution based on cordyceps, or something cool like that
Kriketune in bd has pulled his weight on my play through literally one shotting alakazams and other threats i was pleasantly suprised. I wasn’t even leaving it on the team but it helped with two early gyms and I would have felt guilty cutting him lose
Isnt swoobat a Simple+Stored Power user? That's actually pretty strong
Violet playthrough almost ready?
Any one notice that the unown pic spelled a phrase at 12:49?
Game Freak need to buff Frosmoth speed to 100 or 95. Then give Ledian an evolution both bugs have dope designs.
Just make Ledian evolve into Frosmoth!
ledian and ariados used to have the same bst before sun/moon they buffed it's special def by 10. they also buffed some other pokemon like poliwrath and beutifly in gen 6
Hah nice secret message in there 😂
