I’m so excited to have found you, I’m diving in head first next month to set up a website, contracts, all that jazz… I’m about 8 months in of doing this full time, and you are such an inspiration !!! Thank you for all you post!!!
You are so genuine! the money is great, but I can tell you really care...I want to tell you I think god had me come to UA-cam. (well, I live on youtube lol), but I have finally realized what my calling is and I am like you Animals bring me peace ( I deal with a lot mentally and when I go to my friends house I am at peace and her animals love me! 3 cats 2 dogs...and also dogs that normally don't like people come up to me! I have pet owners that shake their heads sometimes...I am going to get serious about this...My father always said do what you love! and well, I think at 48 I am!!!! I am now going to go binge watch all your videos now lol.
Wow Doug! I am beyond happy that I found your channel. Everything that you share with us from the correct attitude, to the love you have for animals, your determination, and just the desire to share to teach others… it’s amazing! I’m a dog groomer, I started my grooming business in 2020. I do house calls. And I’ve been wanting to take the next step and get serious. It’s not just about sustaining myself economically anymore. But I actually am taking the necessary steps to grow and make an impact in my community as you mentioned in the video. You’ll be sure to see my comments more often because I plan to watch them all lol Even though we are in different fields of the pet industry your experience and knowledge is a treasure. Thank you!!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. coming back with an update! I LOVE ROVER!!! It became me and my husband's full time job! I logged my 1 year update on my youtube channel. we made over 230k on rover in one calendar year!! Super duper crazy. i'm just so grateful for the platform :')
It's a total dream come true for me! It is definitely possible to support yourself doing this...I have been a full time professional pet sitter and dog walker for over ten years now and I currently have 29 employees, a couple of whom are full time!
I started a dog walking/pet sitting business three years ago. I've mainly done check ins and dog walks. Recently I did my first live in while the client went on a 2 week vacation. I felt uncomfortable with her family members stopping by to check up on me. Is this typical? This was one of my first clients so I had been working for her consistently for three years. If she didn't trust me why would she ask me to stay with her dogs?
I just want to say that YOURE AMAZING!!!! I’m a pet sitter but struggling to juggle this with another job. But looking for more tips to grow my business!! I live in Hobe Sound, I would love to get more information for tips!! 🤙
@@lexyvlogs sure thing! I have lots of videos on my channel on building a successful pet care business and if you’d like to talk further you can send me an email at badtothebonepetcare@gmail.com
hello nice to meet you, you said quit your job, that is my biggest battle right now, I want to quit my part time job right now or at least cut my hours back, to where I dont have to worry about it anymore and be a full time pet sitter, because I am also autistic, and I hear animals will like that a little bit more if that makes sense, sorry I dont know how to say that.
I have spreadsheets that track everything for my business. I use zapier to connect different forms and spreadsheets. And your radius will totally determine on your area and the services you are providing. I know five miles is not enough where I am simply because there aren't enough people in a five mile radius, but if you were in a busy city you could totally do it
Congratulations and thank you for sharing your success story! My question for you is, I had no idea you could hire someone to help you and pass down your leads on rover. I thought it had to be yourself. Can you explain how this works?
There are different ways to do, but the way that I do it is an "overnight" is just 8 hours at nighttime and they can book additional time during the day as drop-in visits if desired. "Live-in" is when I live there as if it is my own home (so sleep there at night and in and out during the day). I only do live-ins for my best clients
I started this year and it’s been a dream. I love animals so much and even though it’s hard some days, it’s so worth it
Welcome to the pet sitting world! It's the most fulfilling "job" ever. Absolutely a dream come true for me!

I wanna to learn more about being a pet sitter
Check out the rest of my videos! :)
Ok 😄😄😄
Are there any books you would recommend i read on dog behaviour.
I would highly recommend Don't Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor! I also like Dog Training Revolution by Zak George

How are you able to track expenses, employees payroll etc..? Also do you think a 5 mile radius is enough?

Thank you! I don't use Rover, I built my own company. I would definitely recommend starting your own company instead of using a platform like Rover :)
@@DougtheDogGuydo you find that it’s hard to compete with rover and the low prices on there?
How would I be able to meet with you for mentorship ? I’m located in Jax as well
