Rover is so hit or miss. I've been doing it for almost a year and at least 70% of the time, the owners are not upfront about exactly how problematic their pets are. And once they drive away, you're stuck. They lie about the dogs weight, size, potty training, crate training, behavioral traits, aggressiveness and health....in order to have them accepted. Some of them are fabulous pets and wonderful to work with, but most of them are a nightmare. And I have owned a farm for 35 years and work with animals of all kinds, night and day
This is why you should always charge a good amount to make it worth it. Watching dogs with anxiety is a lot of work. I charge $75/day. Even for cute dogs. People will pay it, also Im really good at what I do.
@@nadiaelisian7335 yeah they won't pay that out here. I'm miles away from civilization and they already don't want to drive the additional hour or pay the additional gas costs. Few and far between, which have been the customers that I truly enjoyed.
Rover makes a host provide endless info before acceptance. Guests can book with zero information on file. Rover doesn’t care about pets, just making tons of cash for nothinh
@@himenyx153 Not usually, oddly enough. Most of my bookings are really rushed, last minute. Like the owners try not to have to spend that money up until the minute they are supposed to leave, lol. I don't blame them 😂 I do it to myself, I have it set to accept same day bookings.
I do accept same day bookings, but they have to complete the profile (for ALL pets) and or any modifications I make, before I accept… but if accepting same day bookings is the issue, you may make that little adjustment to eliminate this afternoon’s headache.
I have been a cat owner for all my life, right now I take care of 2 seniors & I am interested in becoming a cat-sitter, so your insight is very valuable, dear Paige.
Love that you mentioned you’re there to be with the cat - play with them, cuddle with them, pet them. I’ve had two bad experiences with sitters on Rover who were completely disengaged from my cat. One even pushed her away when she wanted pets because she was on her phone on the couch! Really broke my heart. Thanks for the guide!
Too many people on their phones all the time. I don't have time to go on it most times I've got dogs and cats of my own I deal with lol.... I don't even know where the days go anymore.
@GlitterShitter no i didn’t simply because I didn’t want to come off as overbearing for watching how she engaged with my cat through the security cam which i realize now was a silly concern
That's about the one time I would trash someone's profile with a terrible review. Words matter to a pet owner and as a user of Rover and soon to be service provider you deserve to have your reputation trashed if you treat an animal like that when getting paid to do a job.
This is an awesome video.., I’ve been doing Rover for about 2 years (I actually quit my job of 16 years at a hospital to go full-time… I did it part-time while I worked for about 6 mos, before I quit at the hospital)… I wish I would have had your video when I first started. 🐾❤️🐾
Paige. You have so much charisma. You are meant to share your knowledge on video. This is your most valuable asset. You could help anybody with whatever you wish. Keep it up! I can't wait to see you on a national network!
Thanks for sharing your tips with us! I came back to this video for an update!! I LOVE ROVER!!! It became me and my husband's full time job! I logged my 1 year update on my youtube channel. we made over 230k on rover!! Super duper crazy. i'm just so grateful for the platform
Wasn't sure I wanted to commit 25min to watching one video about Rover. I thought I wanted multiple opinions on the app but after the first ten minutes I was drawn in by your pleasant personality and loads of accurate information. I have used the app to find people in my area to take care of my pets and I have been lucky to find great people with great results. I was considering offering my services on Rover and just wanted some feedback from other people who have done it. After watching the entire video, I don't need to watch any other videos. Paige is accurate in everything she talks about. All of my experiences with Rover helpers have played out exactly like she describes. Very helpful and well put together! Thanks for the information and encouragement to help others.
@@PaigeWestCo hey Paige it sounds really cool working with rover how long have you worked yourself with rover? and is it hard to set it all up and get clients ? please let me know thank you and have a great day Paige 😄
Hi Paige, thank you for your video! My ? is: Have you ever gone to a meet and greet, only to see the house is in quite disorder, messy, and/or just the place you would not want to stay (I mainly do overnights)? Once I get to nearly every meet and greet, the owner and pet love me, and want to hire me. Yes, this is great, however, not if their home is a wreck. What do you do? In the past, I would just take the job, and did my best to make myself as comfortable as possible in the home. Now I am very careful about which houses to visit in the first place. I need to see the outside house first. Also, sometimes pictures of the animals at home can give away some aspects of the home situation. That's what I start with now. Happy to read any tips you have!
Thanks so much for the tips. I'm looking at getting into Rover as a service provider (dogs) but have used it several times before as a customer. You covered all the bases which I really appreciate, and you also used the word "gyped" so thumbs up from me lol.
Paige, I started to create my account in Rover yesterday. Than I said let's check some reviews online before paying for the background check. I came across your video and guess what? It help so much in the process. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Blessings 🧡
Me too .. I was leary about the background check being you had to pay for it yourself. But now I think it's ok. I haven't tries it yet but this video gave me more encouragement 🎉🎉
This video is so insanely helpful, especially the parts about taxes and deductions, I haven’t seen anyone talk about out that in the videos I’ve watched. Thank you!!
Excellent video, I queued up multiple to learn as much as I can before leaping in, but after yours (which was the first) I don't need to see the others! Thanks!
Loved the video and how informative and clear you made it! 👏 I recently started Rover and I have been using Stride to track my miles, however I sometimes forget to click "done driving" when I get home so some of my records are inaccurate. Just wondering if you ever had this issue and is there an easy way to fix it??
If you take the clients off the app, you need to get yourself insurance! If something goes wrong at the visit and you didn’t book through Rover, you are NOT covered!
@@PaigeWestCo Thank you! 💖 One more question. Does Rover offer any kind of insurance protection or do you need to provide your own? I'm particularly curious about this if you are doing this work as a freelancer outside of Rover.
@@labelle9921 Rover has what they call the Rover Guarantee that is basically an insurance program! Here’s a link with more info: www.rover.com/rover-guarantee/ When I don’t go through Rover, there is no insurance protection for the pets but that’s something to make sure owners are aware of! All the extra fees rover charges are what helps cover their Rover Guarantee program. I never like to bring a client off the rover app if they have any issues that may make me worried about needing the insurance backing. And I always make sure to tell a client that although we are both saving money by getting off the app, there is no insurance without it! Especially since I mainly watch cats, I’m not as concerned (and the clients usually aren’t either) since I don’t need to take any animals outside of their home. But ultimately it’s whatever you and the client are comfortable with❤️
Do you have any tips for doing the additional cat rate when you're starting out? I'm currently set up for house sitting and drop-ins and I'm not sure how to set my rates for that.
If your tracking your mileage, for example your driving to take care of a cat for 30 minutes, then you drive home. Which mileage are you able to tax deduct just driving to the job? Or the driving home as well?
Thanks so much for this super informative video. I just completed my Rover profile and am waiting for the background check. Do you have any advice about liability insurance?
You're so welcome Teresa! I would look into the Rover guarantee and see if that would cover what you have in mind. I personally did not get liability insurance but for certain pets I think it can be extremely beneficial and keep both parties safe/covered!
Thank you so much for this video! I’m doing only dog boarding and day care at first but I am glad I stuck with this video because it was extremely helpful even if I won’t be doing cat sitting. One question about Stripe. Rover has you sign up for this service in order to get paid. Did you do that? And if you did, did you have to go out and get an account with Stripe as well? It is confusing. Thank you!
Wow, great and thorough video! I had a question about tracking mileage for tax deductions though. Do you itemize deductions for your annual taxes? It would seem like the standard deduction would possibly be more advantageous for your income unless I'm missing something.
Great question! The difference is that the income from Rover is not basic income from a W-2. So really these deductions are business expenses which is different from personal itemized deductions! Basically anyone who files a 1099 will also file a schedule C that will show the profits and losses of the business first. The personal standard deduction will be taken on the taxable income after business losses. Hope that makes sense! And thanks for watching😊
Hi Paige! Thank you so much for this video it was super helpful! I just started on Rover and I’m curious about the meet a greet process. What do you usually do? Do you meet the owner and pet for any service you provide? Do you meet at their home?
Hi Mallory! You’re so welcome? I usually offer to come by their home to meet their pet and learn the ropes from them directly! If it’s a dog you’ll be watching you can always meet in public first at a park near their home if that makes you more comfortable! I mainly just go to their home because I only watch cats so it’s easier that way😅 overall I would say do what you feel comfortable with and trust your gut if you’re ever concerned!
Side note: rarely do I not meet the owner first. Usually only in a last minute request does the owner just leave the key for me somewhere. But I always offer to meet and leave it up to the owner! Hope that’s helpful❤️
Omg thank you for the quick reply! The meet and greet had me a bit nervous and confused because the idea of meeting a stranger in their home is a bit strange at first to me😅 But it makes the most sense to know the owners home and everything. Good to know. Thanks so much!!
Of course!!! Totally understand that.. it still makes me nervous to this day and I’ve done so many😂 I like to send the location/address to someone before I go in and tell them that I’ll text them I’m out and safe within 30-45 mins and if I don’t, be concerned lol
But I’ve never had any issues! Sometimes I bring my husband or a friend in the car and have them stay outside while I go in! I usually just try to feel it out and always go during the day❤️
I appreciate that you're no longer a pet sitter but would you be able to tell me how back-to-back bookings work taking into account the travel time between bookings? Do you just amend the booking request to be half an hour later for example before confirming it? I'm looking to join Rover but I'm unsure how it would work if you ended up with a 10-11 then 11-12 booking for example. I'm probably overthinking it 😅
what an encouraging video!!! I made a video talking about how much I made on rover too!!! anyone reading this, if you dont think you can do it, YOU CAN!!!!!! although going off rover can be scary incase something happens! Like my dog was hurt by a rover sitter but rover had the health and safety guarantee so it covered 6k of surgery :'(
Thank you so much for this video! Lots of invaluable info here! I am thinking of starting with Rover or Wag too (or are there better apps?) Like you, I want to have a niche and specialize in caring for elderly or sick dogs who require medications. I hope that’s not too narrow of a specialty though? Also, I have no clue what to say in my opening tag line and bio. Better to keep it short and sweet, or do people appreciate detailed and in-depth? Thanks!
You’re so welcome! I don’t think that’s too narrow at all! The key is to make it clear you specialize in that without saying you “only” take jobs for dogs that need medication. Either way that would give a potential client a great feeling that you are qualified for potential health emergencies with their pets too! And I say keep the tag line short and sweet and go more in depth with your bio😊 good luck!!❤️
I realize this is 6 months too late, but just in case anyone else is coming through with the same question: imagine you're writing a headline for yourself, about your petcare abilities specifically. You've written an article about yourself (the bio), but now you need to make a short, attention-grabbing headline that will get clients to read the rest of it. Paige's was great, for all the reasons she stated. It let potential clients know right away that she was only interested in cats, and it was cute and somewhat out of the ordinary (at least from what I saw when I browsed through local Rover workers!). Instead of feeling like you need to come up with The Best Headline right away, bring up a Notepad file (or just a sheet of paper) and write out all your ideas. Doesn't matter if you realize it sounds stupid the minute you start writing--just write it out. At first, all your ideas will be warm-up ideas, so probably not the best. But eventually--especially when you get everything down and then step away to let them percolate in your mind--you'll start thinking of tweaks or other ideas and you'll find one that you think is really good. I haven't signed up for Rover yet (gig work sets my anxiety off so much), but I imagine you can also change your tagline and bio whenever you want. So if you put something down that later doesn't seem good enough, you can always change it! (Thank you for coming to my TED Talk, etc. LOL)
Hi there! Thank you for this video! I just set up my profile and am ready to work! I was wondering what happens next. Do you wait for clients to find you? Are you able to see available jobs (i know Wag does that, but wasn't sure if rover did as well). Is it the same app for both sitters and clients? Kind of confusing because its hard to get to my sitter profile lol
You’re so welcome! Congrats on getting your profile set up! With Rover the clients find you. The best thing you can do is keep your schedule updated so you are closer to the top of search and always respond as fast as possible when anyone reaches out to you because that brings your profile higher in search too! It is the same app for sitters and clients yep!
You do a meet and greet beforehand (you don't charge the client for a meet and greet) and during the meet and greet you discuss everything and they give you the keys or whatever you need to get into the house.
I’ve never done boarding at my own home, just drop in visits and house sitting but my assumption would be yes that’s during the meet and greet you would meet at your home and show them around !
Hi, I’m just starting out on Rover and I’ve gotten a few nibbles from clients, but one pulled out on the day I was supposed to meet them to ensure it was a good fit and the other’s go-to sitter became available and they pulled out. A friend of mine got me onto Rover because she does it, and it works perfect for me because I am a full time student and as a result I’m only available on weekends. Is this negatively effecting my ability to attract clients? :( and should I lower my rates? I have previous experience pet sitting so I decided to set my rates for house sitting at $65 but is that too much? Thank you so much for your help, this video helped a lot
Hey, Judgy… many times people glance at the number of reviews/repeat clients you have and you may be losing prospective clients if your prices are too high compared to the number of reviews/repeats (even though you have experience elsewhere)… you may want to lower your prices til you get more reviews. I know it hurts to do that, but if your competition charges less and you don’t have enough reviews, you’re gonna get overlooked.
So you work from home. Is it hard to tend to your clients while you work all day? I work from home, but could consider doing cat services if I can squeeze it in.
Hi I’m babysitting two cats in a few weeks , I’m a little nervous because I have fur baby of my own. My main and only concern is there chances of your own pets to get any type of disease? I was told both cara are vaccinated and have good health , and same with mine. I don’t know maybe I’m just paranoid lol but I don’t want to expose my own fur baby
I’m assuming you mean you’re boarding them? Either way I totally understand the concern because I’m extremely paranoid about bringing fleas home to my kitty at home even from doing drop in visits at other cats houses. Asking the owners for vaccination papers could be something you consider requiring for boarding jobs where you are bringing them into your own home. I would also say keeping your own kitty up to date with their vaccines and preventative treatments for fleas etc is the best you can do.. maybe consider discussing the risks with your vet as well! That’s the best I got considering I personally don’t board cats in my own home :/ Good luck with the job!❤️
Do you feel that you've limited yourself too much by only sitting for cats? I've been wanting to do this for years and I honestly prefer dealing with cats, but do also like dogs. I'd be willing to do drop in visits and walks with dogs, but if I'm being honest, I'm more of a cat person! lol
I have a two sided answer to this lol! I do think there’s a lot of opportunities with dog walking that are missed by only sitting for cats (mainly because people need dog walkers more often than a cat sitter since cat sitting is usually only needed if they are going out of town) BUT by specifically tailoring my profile to cat sitting, I know I’m attracting a high percentage of the cat sitting jobs since there are literally hundreds of dog sitters in my area (who are willing to watch cats but it’s not a specialty) but only a handful of specifically cat sitters in my area! If anything you could experiment with both and turn the settings on/off for your profile to allow sitting for cats and dogs! I’m definitely wayyyy more a cat person so it was just a no brainer to me only watch cats😅 hope that was a somewhat helpful answer & good luck with Rover!❤️
I was told you were not allowed to give out your number/contact the clients outside of the app with Rover. Also if you were caught doing so, you got blocked from their site and your profile was suspended. Do they talk about not "stealing" clients off Rover?
I’ve never heard that personally, and I know rover mentions allowing exchanging of numbers but that it’s up to the client and sitter. I usually discuss that in person with the client anyways or over text after we’ve exchanged phone numbers. But ultimately it’s up to you! I haven’t had any issues with it thus far though
So glad it was helpful! I have officially “retired” as I call it from pet sitting since my other side business has grown into my main! Wish you all the best with rover!🌟
@@PaigeWestCo What is your other side business? And what did you think about Instacart? Did you do the driving delivery or the in-store prep, any advice is appreciated and thanks for everything you do
@@shelldaniel6412 I do freelancing for small businesses now! Took me awhile to build it up enough to do it “full time”. Rover was way more lucrative for me than Instacart BUT Instacart was great for days when I had no other work and still needed to make money! I would just head out and do as many batches as possible! Highly suggest focusing on costco or other similar stores if you shop for Instacart! It’s wayyyy more lucrative! I did the shopping & delivery since it was flexible and on my time :) good luck!
After Rover takes 20% and you have to put aside at least 20% to pay for taxes you get only about 40-50% of what you charge! :( I wish clients on Rover understood why I have to make my prices higher. Also she doesn't mention this but I read that you have to track your personal driving as well as your business driving to be able to prove what portion was for business to get the deduction. Talk about a hassle, even with an app. They don't want to make being self employed easy on you!
It's not too much of a hassle once you get into the habit, honestly. There's one app, Everlance, that will start tracking as soon as it senses the car is moving (though you only get like 28 free ones, and after that you need to pay a fee, so eh). There might be others that always do the auto-tracking for free, I'm not sure. But once you actually get into the habit of it, it just becomes second nature to tap the button. I even keep it on my main phone page, so it's always visible. Having said that you're right, being self-employed really is a pain, for many reasons...ESPECIALLY when you consider the fact that we're really NOT self-employed, we're working for a company that's just choosing to make us "contractors" so they can get out of paying any benefits. But that's a whole different rant. :P
I have a full time job and work from home, the point of signing up with Rover was so that my dog would have other dogs to play with and also a second source of income to help out. Some of us with a side “hustle” already pay taxes for our regular jobs, any way around it if it’s not much that we make on rover ? Asking for a friend lol
Hi thanks for the video! Just wondering, as im based in the UK- my app doesnt mention any tax stuff and our background check is free, do you know why that is? Just got a little worried when you mentioned taxes etc lol thanks again! xx
You’re so welcome!! Our background check in the US used to be free so that’s normal! And the app doesn’t mention much about taxes since they don’t remove them for you. I’m not sure if it’s the same in the UK but here we have to calculate and pay our taxes on our own since we are considered an independent contractor for rover. Hope that helps❤️
I just did my first dog boarding and my client and Icant figure out how to end the stay. Today she got picked up but it still says 'cancel booking or modify " but she already got picked up so how do we complete the stay ?! please help !
All jobs for rover pay out after the job is complete! Usually payment hits my account within a few days of the last day of the job!😊 you can track payment progress in the app!
Definitely set up a meet and greet with the potential sitter and make sure you feel comfortable with them! Hope you can find the perfect sitter for your boys❤️
Is it possible to do this without providing any tax documents? I’m not a tax filer and I’ve never done taxes because I never had a job and I’m currently in college.
I been trying to find this answer so maybe I can help. I have my 1st rover booking in few days. 5 nights and it’s showing charges for those nights but the pick up they have marked from noon to 10pm so it is not showing the extended care rate. When they come pick up will the app ask what time they come to close out the stay and will it determine the % of extended stay rate then ( the 50 or 100% off the hours) or will I need to go on and modify it? If it doesn’t do it for me should I make the modification before the visit and then issue the refund after if need be?
Hmmm I’ve done an overnight once and I don’t think it ever asked me what time the stay ended. It just went with what was scheduled in the app. I would explain this to the client and request to pick the latest time and say you will modify it after the fact if they come early and will give them the refund. There is a chance they changed the app as it’s been a few months since my overnight but from my experience whatever the initial booking charge is will be how it stays unless you modify it yourself. Also note that the client has to approve modifications which is why I suggest charging them for the longer stay and refunding if they pick up early so you don’t have the issue of not getting paid for your time. Hope that helps❤️
I only go to their homes but I’ve heard wonderful things from those who board as well! It definitely is more convenient for the sitter (no driving around) and means you can board multiple at once! If you have the home to accommodate that is😅
Hi Emily!! I just looked into it more and rover apparently discontinued the double sided bonus for the referral. I’m so so sorry for the confusion but thank you so much for bringing that to my attention! Email me though so we can discuss further!! (my email is in the description)
I signed up but I'm charging 40 for pet sitting overnight stay. Should I also charge extra if I am taking the dogs on walks and feeding throughout the day ? I'm confused
I personally like to charge for mid day drop in walks if I do an overnight job if they need me to come in the middle of the day as well as morning and night but I think it depends on what you think is worth the price! I would suggest looking at the rover support pages or the Reddit to see what others do too! Good luck!💜
Are you ever fearful that the client you bring off the app and discuss Venmo might not pay? Do you have any contract or is it just a trust thing? Have you ever had a client not pay when you brought them off the app?
They keep saying tell friends in order to book a shift but that would defeat the purpose of the app to get selected by strangers. This isn’t a friend referal rover. So I definitely wish they would focus more on getting clients without the help of friends . Lol hopefully I get a booking not made by a friend and someone actually on the site whenever that is
I don’t do boarding but from what I’ve heard, they drop off and pick up the pet. However at the end of the day that’s up to you and the client to decide! Good luck😊
I picked up a pet and dropped it off a cliff. Just remember to make it consensual, with good communication, and you should avoid my mistake. I made some wrong assumptions.
Can someone on Rover tell me how I can see the list of sitters as if I wass looking to board. When Ive gone onto Rover site as if I was looking for a dog sitter to see where I am on the dog sitters avbl list. I dont see my bio. sometimes it shows ppl miles
I hope someone can help me answer my question. I was thinking about doing rover in my spare time, but Im a little confused about the taxes. If I were to set aside 30 percent of what I make for taxes, about how much of that would go to the state. I live in Alabama. I think it would be 5 percent. Maybe someone who does rover could help me on this.
Hi. Im try to sign up to dogsit on rover but I'm not sure how to do the reference part. It's asking for emails? Do I add my friends email and they receive something from rover?
Yes that’s how the reference emails work! I actually never even got any references completed and still got my first gig! Once you have reviews from clients the references don’t matter that much anyways BUT if you do have people who will write you one, it’s definitely worth doing!
Hi girl! !! How are you??? I started at Rover complete a client at home for 3 days. the customer made the payment is reflected in payment. The 48 hours have already passed and I have my bank account connected and also my Stripe account. but still the money has not gone to my bank account 👎🏻 do I have to wait more days?
It’s usually a few business days so this past weekend was a three day weekend and may have made it take longer! I would contact rover if you don’t see it in the next few days!💜
There's always gonna be some risk involved with strangers. For what it's worth, anyone signing up to work with Rover has to do a background check, and it's also recommended that you do a meet-and-greet with prospective walkers/sitters! If you get weird vibes from them, just decline!
Can anyone explain to me in detail how to get more reviews. She mentions an email that is sent out but I do not see anywhere that I can send out an email.
When I created my account the app prompted me to send out emails for reviews from those who could speak to my abilities as a pet sitter. They may have removed that option since then.. I’m not 100%! I would suggest referring your services to friends and family. They will get $20 off their first visit and be able to give you a review after! If you keep your rates below $20 that will be free for them!

I’m allergic to cats and was only interested in doing Rover for the dogs but loved all the information you put in this video and your warmth😊
Awe thanks so much Hannah🥰 hope it was still helpful!

@@PaigeWestCo where you find pet sitter rates?
@@PaigeWestCo hey Paige it sounds really cool working with rover how long have you worked yourself with rover? and is it hard to set it all up and get clients ? please let me know thank you and have a great day Paige 😄
@@PaigeWestCo what do you mean about rover fees?
Hey girl thank you so much I leaned a lot that I didn’t think I had to worry about like taxes (I’m 20), so thank you for teaching me!!
Hi there have you started doing rober?
What an amazingly thorough video, Paige! I knew nothing about Rover and now I feel like an expert!
Thank you so much for watching😊 so glad you learned a lot!
Very to informative. I've signed up for rover waiting for my background check to clear. Hoping it'll be worth it in my area.
Paige, I started to create my account in Rover yesterday. Than I said let's check some reviews online before paying for the background check. I came across your video and guess what? It help so much in the process. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Blessings 🧡
You’re so welcome!!! I’m so glad it was helpful!🥰 good luck on your Rover journey!
Thank you!!
This was such a thorough review. I love it. Thank you so much for all the information you shared.
Such an informative and helpful video! Thank you!!
Thanks for all the tips. I do pet sitting as a side business and have been thinking about signing up for Rover.
Excellent video, I queued up multiple to learn as much as I can before leaping in, but after yours (which was the first) I don't need to see the others! Thanks!
Oh I’m so happy to hear that!! Glad it covered everything you were looking for! Good luck with Rover😄
Thank you so much for introducing this app, I didnt even know this existed. And good job on your earnings.
You’re so welcome!!💜
Great video. I’m in the UK so not all applicable to me but super informative. Good job.
Good point, I never thought of that. I never used Rover .🎉
Wow! This was extremely detailed and informative! Thanks so much for making and sharing this helpful video!
You’re so welcome😊 Good luck with Rover!💜
@@PaigeWestCo Thank you! 💖 One more question. Does Rover offer any kind of insurance protection or do you need to provide your own? I'm particularly curious about this if you are doing this work as a freelancer outside of Rover.
@@labelle9921 Rover has what they call the Rover Guarantee that is basically an insurance program!
Here’s a link with more info: www.rover.com/rover-guarantee/
When I don’t go through Rover, there is no insurance protection for the pets but that’s something to make sure owners are aware of!
But ultimately it’s whatever you and the client are comfortable with❤️
@@PaigeWestCo That makes sense! It would probably be more of an issue if a person is walking dogs. Thanks again, Paige. This is great info.
Of course! Happy to help😊
AHHHH such a brilliant idea to bring people off the app - thanks for this vid :)
Such good tips and also wow you can make a decent amount from Rover 😳
Thank you!! And right? It’s pretty crazy😅
How do I even get a client
Thank you for making this video! Extremely helpful
You’re so welcome! I’m glad it was helpful💜
I've had an account for a month and haven't got a single booking. I hope this video is able to help!
Thank you!
This video was so informative thank you!
You’re so welcome!!💜
@@PaigeWestCo what's the website that tracks your miles or mileage

Like my dog was hurt by a rover sitter but rover had the health and safety guarantee so it covered 6k of surgery :'(
Thank you! This is very helpful!
When you did Rover, did you have to sign up with Stripe?
Exactly the content I was looking for. Thanks so much!
Yay so glad it was helpful😊
You didn't discuss boarding vs visit? How do people drop off keys to you, or where do you go when the person is gone?
You do a meet and greet beforehand (you don't charge the client for a meet and greet) and during the meet and greet you discuss everything and they give you the keys or whatever you need to get into the house.
Very informative video! Thanks!
You’re so welcome Hayden!
Great video. Thank you, Paige.
can you help me with the statement discriptor
How do u become the walker in the app ??
SUCH VALUABLE INFORMAITON! thank yooouuuu 🤗😸🤗
Wow, very informative video.. I got a lot out of this one video lol
Hi do you have to change or scoop their litter box. I see that this is 2 years old this video so just wondering. 😅
When u get a new client & u plan on watching their pet at your house do u have to give the parents a walkthrough of your house?
I’ve never done boarding at my own home, just drop in visits and house sitting but my assumption would be yes that’s during the meet and greet you would meet at your home and show them around !
No. I've had over 80 clients and only two of them asked to come inside
How do you find out the quarters dates for the 1099?
That’s the best I got considering I personally don’t board cats in my own home :/
Good luck with the job!❤️
I will note here that the benefit of booking through rover is the insurance for the client so I would suggest communicating that with them!
Do you have a walker referral code? Or link?
Yes! This works for walkers, sitters, etc!
sit.rover.com/3wNgZt
Good luck😊
Very helpful. I just signed up for Rover after watching you vid. Are you still pet sitting?
What about Rover’s non-compete clause?
aww this is just perfect as a cat lover as well! Haha
100 - (20 + 20) = 60. If you charge 20, you spend 12.
@@brendacuevas4676 yea easy, have them pay outside the app. Cut out the middle man. For regular customers of course, not 1st time.

As an international student do I have to pay any such tax??? Maybe it's not on my sin number so what are the procedures for me

Is it possible to do this without providing any tax documents? I’m not a tax filer and I’ve never done taxes because I never had a job and I’m currently in college.
You would need to file taxes unfortunately but TurboTax is a very easy software that helps walk you through it all!
Do u have to pay the 35 dollar fee for background check :/
My same question…?
Your a blessing❤️ thank you
So glad it was helpful☺️
@@PaigeWestCo yes that helps. I’ll just make the modification and explain that part of it may be refunded back depending on time she picks up
Glad I could help! Good luck with your first booking!❤️
Do you do any sitting at your home or all at the pets home?
I only go to their homes but I’ve heard wonderful things from those who board as well! It definitely is more convenient for the sitter (no driving around) and means you can board multiple at once! If you have the home to accommodate that is😅
i need help with the app, pleaseeee respond. or could i dm you on something for help? the assistance im getting from the help center isnt helping me.
Thanks for this great video! I tried using your referral code but i dont think it worked. I do not see where the $20 is :(
Of course!!!💜 wishing you all the best on your rover journey! And oh shoot I’m so sorry!! I’ll have to see what’s happening with it! 😭
If you get booked through Rover but they want to pay you off the app, do you still accept the booking in the app?
I do, but only if customers suggest I have a regular that has 4 pups she prefers going off rover, I don't think she has ever done rover.
They keep saying tell friends in order to book a shift but that would defeat the purpose of the app to get selected by strangers. This isn’t a friend referal rover. So I definitely wish they would focus more on getting clients without the help of friends . Lol hopefully I get a booking not made by a friend and someone actually on the site whenever that is
@paige do they bring and pick up the pet. Or do I need to go pick up and drop off their pet?
I'm looking for a dog walker for my puppy but I'm not sure if I can trust this website (a) my home and (b) my puppy any tips ?
Just don't hire anyone that seems nice. Serial killers seem nice.
There's always gonna be some risk involved with strangers. For what it's worth, anyone signing up to work with Rover has to do a background check, and it's also recommended that you do a meet-and-greet with prospective walkers/sitters! If you get weird vibes from them, just decline!
but do you have an LLC, or can i make all those deductions without having an LLC?
most deductions aren’t helpful anyway unless you’re in the sig figs income range 😂
If I want to pet sit, do I just download the app.or is there another app
It’s the same app for pet sitting and booking a sitter :)
Im looking this up for a friend , how much does a sitter get payed per hour?
That depends on your rates (how much you charge)
How do u signup to walk a dog
Go to the dog park and hold a sign that says, "Can I walk your dog, please?"
I'm a student with F1 visa and my husband want to do dog walking with Rover app. Is it possible for him to do this with F2 visa?
I’m not 100% sure.. I would call rover support to ask them! Good luck❤️
If I dont have a work permit in the country that I want to petsit is it legal to do that?
nope
Can anyone explain to me in detail how to get more reviews. She mentions an email that is sent out but I do not see anywhere that I can send out an email.
When I created my account the app prompted me to send out emails for reviews from those who could speak to my abilities as a pet sitter. They may have removed that option since then.. I’m not 100%! I would suggest referring your services to friends and family. They will get $20 off their first visit and be able to give you a review after! If you keep your rates below $20 that will be free for them!
