How to File The BOI Report Yourself for FREE! | Step by Step BOI Tutorial
In this video, I cover everything you need to know about the BOI Report! I talk about what the BOI is and why the government is requiring business owners to submit it, then we talk about who has to do this, and then we wrap up with me sharing my screen as I complete the BOI form step by step for my own business.
The BOI, or Beneficial Ownership Information Report, is a filing requirement created under the Corporate Transparency Act. It’s part of a federal effort to increase transparency in business ownership and crack down on fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering. If you're an LLC or a corporation, you will have to submit this Report by the end of the year.
Here's the link to file your BOI Report: boiefiling.fincen.gov/

This is so wonderful. Thanks a million for your content, Doug. You aren't just out there promoting your own stuff only; you also are drawing attention to other great professionals and resources with similar or relevant niches in a genuine way, not just marketing stuff that pays you to do so. That seems really collaboration-based instead of competition-based. It's kind and actually builds more trust. Sounds like you all help promote eachother and learn from eachother.😊

Hey doug, when it comes to the ideal client, would you consider it Prudence or tacky to put a blurb about the ideal client on one's website. For example I have my mission statement on my website. Would it be glib of me to say that" my ideal client is one who has already invested in their dogs health, well-being and training and is looking to invest in equality sitter like myself"?

I had a 'bad client' yesterday.. Not to be a snob, but I could tell from the meet and greet that the situation was not going to be idea. Bad neighborhood and bad setup for pet care. No control over the door whatsover. Told me one of the other dogs in the houshold was known to bite (not to be serviced, but a family member's dog). There were other things in the household that made me feel uncomfortable. When I showed up,the pet parent wasn't home (they lived with a family member) I was greeted by someone who did not look pleased to me. The 'aggressive dog' that I met during the meet and greet was let outside to roam freely and ended up walking with us the entire walk, walking thorughout people's yards and even pooping in one yard. Someone walking thorugh the neighbhoroood asked if that dog was mine and if it bit. I told them the dog did bite, but was not with me. The dog walk was difficult because the dog was not leash trained and had no focus whatsover, even when I tried to direct and redirect with treats. First time I can say I was actually stressed during a walk. Its the day after the walk and have yet to be paid through the invoice that bounced back to me. I typically charge pet sits upfront, but dog walks afterward. Not sure if I"lll get paid, but these are the red flags I've found. Shortly after the walk, I told the client I was not a good match for them.

Yes, and...I wonder if those businesses would think, "If I refer this pet sit biz to my clients...what's in it for me?" Offer them a little money for each person they refer, as if tgey are an in-person affiliate?

I am saving this one, downloading it, putting it in a special playlist for biz tips, AND taking notes (this and 2 other of your vids). I am really learning so much. I'm stopping the video at 9:09 as you are talking about brand psychology, and the advice hit me like a ton of bricks. My pet sitting name is catsdogsharmony, and as you can see, my logo is bright and cheerful(I think its fun and welcoming), but not necessarily 'harmonious'. And it is probably childish, now that I think about it. I think you mentioned something about a zen vibe and how more natural colors represent that. I think I need to rebrand both my logo, my personal appearance, and my website to attract the right client for me. How can I expect to attract middle age working or retired clients(such as myself) when my brand looks like a highschooler made it, and probably is the main operator? God bless you for sharing this valuable information with us and allowing us to grow and be better.

7:18 omigersh! So cute. My favorite part of pet sits is the dog walking aspects. I would have said playing with the dogs, but amazingly I come across a lot of dogs that don't have toys or don't play with toys. And so the only interaction I get with them is out and about on our walls. But when I do get a dog that is obsessed about their toys it is definitely a joy to see them enjoy themselves in play time

I do have a trusted house sitters account and have not been diligent about looking for house sits. I definitely need to be more intentional about how I'm going to get my dream clients. I live in Fort Worth but there are areas in Dallas and Southlake and similar areas where I think I could possibly get my dream client if I was to do some house sitting there. Thank you for reminding me about that. I paid for the subscription and haven't even been using it. I've been so focused on finding local clients, none of which seem to be interested in my services where I need to be expanding my horizons to those who are willing to pay

3:55 charge for meet and greets? 😶😶🤯🤯 I hadn't even thought about this, but I wish I had. I have one client (who turned out to be a repeat client that I am grateful for) that kept me at her house for 4 hours...FOUR HOURS! for the meet and greet. I had expected to be there about 30-40 minutes, but she was quite chatty(lonely?). Luckily I hadn't anything else on my schedule for the rest of the day, but in hindsight, I think the meeting would have been more succinct if I had a price attached to my time (or at least I would have felt compensated). I think having an allotted time set for my M&Gs will be helpful for both parties. Knowing how long I will be there in advance will help me stay on task and might make the potential customer take me mores seriously.

I'm putting aside a budget to be able to invest in coaching, hopefully soon this upcoming new year. I'm still somewhat new to the industry and feel like I spend too much time chasing down individual customers. I also feel like I may be looking at the wrong market. I would have thought I'd be getting lots of business in my local community of Fort Worth (a pretty big metroplex), but I find that most of my customers are farther away, rather than nearer. I'd like to discuss the best way to better target pet parents who are 1) willing to pay my prices (which are already modest), and 2) more likely to become repeat customers. I don't live in a poor part of town per se, but I think the mindset in my area is of people who don't hire pet sitters, if that makes sense.
