- Nu Finish Polish, The Once A Year Car Polish.
Nu Finish Polish is known for being easy to use, this video shows just how easy it is to apply and get an amazing shine and layer of protection on your car. You can also use it on your boat, motorcycle, RV and heaps more. Available at all good auto stores.
I used it for the first time yesterday and was very impressed with the gloss and slipperiness of the surface after treatment..
Advice: While applying the product, don’t use circular motions. Instead, apply in vertical/horizontal motion. One panel at a time. This will diminish swirl marks. It is a great product when used correctly. Its way better than carnuba waxes and I apply it after 5-7 full washes (30+ days). Specially after every clay bar once a month. Easy extra step and paint will shine like new.
Sheesh, after 5-7 washes and clay bar once a month? Talk about "excessive." No need for that
Apply it before winter starts and just before summer... of course clay it too
So that's twice a year? Ya I'll do that then your suggestions
Exactly. I just commented the same thing. You know it. It works better this way
Will this removed swirl marks if I use a buffer or do it buy hand? Bought. New black car and it’s full of swirl marks. Don’t wanna pay for someone to do it as the last lady cost me $250 and after two washes I could see all the swirls gain.
Much appreciated
I have a 2017 RAM Cummins and Ive used this polish once and its up to 5yrs now and it still looks good! I am about to do another coat of it.
I've used this stuff for 30+ years and it is amazing -- sold a car years ago and the used car shop would not believe it was the original paint - thought the car had been repainted ... I do it 2-3 times/year here in Canada because the winters can be very tough on the paint with all the sand and salt flying about.
Hi Trentriver thanks for the feedback, we have lots of loyal customers who have been using NuFinish for many years with great results. We are glad to hear NuFinish is helping to protect your valuable paint work in those harsh Canadian Winters, thanks for sharing.
@@nufinishaustralianewzealan4327 I accidentally scraped something with nu finish applied, i thought it was paint damage. But my 10 layers of nu finish protected my bumper and clear coat the mark came off when i washed my car. Thanks for the awesome product!
I'm from Canada as well, toronto area. What temperature can you apply this product?

Works well with a buffer, use lots.
Used this for over 25 years. When I first used it, it recommended polish the whole car then do it again within 6 months i think it was. Then once a year after that. Any car I apply this to, I do a first coat. Then every time I wash it after that i do one panel ie the boot, next wash the bonnet etc continually doing the car in little increments. Fantastic result with very little effort.
Thanks for the great review Brian, wow 25 years is a long time to stand by a brand a we thank you for your loyalty and support. If you have time we would love you to connect with us on Facebook and send us some photos of you current car, we love sharing these type of stories with other Nu Finish customers. facebook.com/NuFinishAustraliaNZ/?ref=bookmarks
My Dad was a mechanic in the 40's on up to the late 80's and when this came out he zoomed in on it. I used it several years on several vehicles. Your comment caught my eye because he did the same thing! He would give the whole car a couple good coats and then he would re-apply after every wash to one section of the car and kept cycling it around so you didn't ever have to wax the whole car at once again. Very efficient. He died in the 90's but I still do this method, cheers!
Not with the current formula!
Does it work like ceramic coating ?
Thanks mate - helpful video. I'll give it a go. Cheers
Thanks Greg. Nu Finish is formulated for great results and ease of use.
Scotty loves it it's been around forever
Rev up your engines!
With this stuff I do not swirl no circular motion , it works best with straight up and down or side to side. Seriously. Try it. It comes off easier and no circular marks left . Try it
Do you still need to you apply wax on vehicle after polishing
How is this product for protecting the gel coat from UV rays on fiberglass glider aircraft?
Great video
The area I live temperature rises to 48c during summer which is quite hot ..how long Nu polishing will work ? Do I need to repolish every month
This is great stuff, been using for over 29 years on all my new cars, great to coat new cars as gives them a little bit more protection
Thanks Dave, we tend to agree ;) thanks for the recommendation
Do you think I can used this to remove swirl marks?
Thank you.
Interesting.
Can I use it on the stainless steel / chrome finish off my motorbike exhausts?
Hi Ben Nu Finish can be applied to chrome and stainless steel surfaces to improve shine and UV resistance, that said if the surface gets very hot such as on exhaust pipes it may not last as long as on other surfaces. We would suggest applying a small amount of polish to a discrete test area first to ensure it does not have an adverse reaction.
I have this for my car. I love it, but I think the Nu Finish Rapid Shine (Spray Polish) is better.
Nice to see that one can apply this stuff in direct sunlight and that the "hiaze on the bonet" removes easily in this video. BTW, I love the orange cloths that match the color of the Nufinish bottle and the orange car. I do the same as I use blue cloths on my blue vehicle and red ones on my red vehicle and black for the wife's black vehicle. BTW, here's a useful tip: I also wear matching clothes when working on my cars. I wear blue work clothes for the blue car, red for the red car and black for the wife's black car. I mixed them up once (i.e. was dressed in blue and did the red car) but the cars didn't turn out quite as nice for some reason. We used to have a white vehicle but the white clothes showed up all the dirt so we got rid of that one. i also have three Nufinish bottles but I've painted the bottles to match the cars as well. Makes the shine come out more betterer.
Thanks Samuel. Will be sure to invest in an orange jumpsuit for washing the car :)
No fly's on you Sam!
I have a white car with clear coat on it, so I waxed the car in the nude to get that clean fresh look, the same look I get after I get my balls waxed clean!
@@victorbartalo8502 lmao 🤣 😂 😆
Nu finish actually has a petroleum base so it really needs no wax to repel water ..it really depends upon the climate you live in as to the results you will get using this product..if you live in say Texas than it should protect the paint from sun fade for a little while but I wouldn't go more than 6 months without reapplying..the same with NY..vehicles in NY get very dirty fast so you have to keep washing it ..those extra washes will wead the nu finish protection off so again I would not go more than 6 month before reapplying after the vehicle has been throughly cleaned and clay bared.
Has anyone used this with an orbital buffet? I kind of hate doing it by hand but love the product, so I didn’t know if it would be bad or diminish the effect?
Daniel Mcgrath1 second agoI had my motorbike polished to the max, every nut and bolt. Then I used Nu Finish to clean and shine my bike.OMG - I don't know what this product is,apart from magic. My bike is so,so bright and it shines like a mirror.Plastic contact not so bad to rub off...I was waiting years before I used this Nu Finish stuff / Man its just magic.USE IT.
Hi Daniel thanks for the great feedback and compliments, we agree Nu Finish is pretty amazing. We are super pleased to hear your story thanks for sharing.
I used a cleaner wax on my car and it looks pretty good. I had to buff and whatnot, it takes for ever tho. Can I use this product on top of an already waxed car? Also, could I apply this product on a boat?
It is best to remove any built up wax before applying polish to the car. You could try on one panel to test, but it would be recommended to polish first and then wax. In regards to your boat, you can apply this 100%. Many of our customers apply Nu Finish Polish to their fibreglass / clear coat boats.
Works well on my motorcycle.
Ok so when u say damp cloth does that mean actually damp?! Like slightly water soaked cloth?!
Best bang for buck in the world, only wish i could get rapid shine here
Oi. What is that 50/50 tape for then?
Show the driver side with the product vs the passenger side with no product. But he doesn’t show anything. Lol.
Great tutorial, does Nufinish need a cure time before exposure to water?
Only a minute or two. apply it onto the paint, give it a minute or two to "absorb" into the paint, then wipe it off.
Great product - But when will you make it so that Nu Finish does not stain black plastic trim. Bit of hassle trying to avoid the trim on cars.
Hi Jeff, Plastic trim is porous and sometimes difficult to remove polish from. The white discoloration you are seeing is the clay that is in all car polishes. Use mineral spirits for removing the white residue left behind on plastic trim. Car polishes and waxes contain a cleaner that will leave a haze on plastic trim. You may need to use a tooth brush or an applicator like a tooth brush that can get into the deep pores in the plastic. It could take more than one application, especially if the polish was applied some time ago due to the exposure to ultraviolet rays. Alternatively, dab some undiluted Nu Finish Car Wash with a cloth / small brush onto the black trim and it will remove the residual.
A damp cloth. No one said that before. Makes sense. Thanks.
It kind of says that on the bottle
My polish of choice for years and it's really last a while.
Can I apply it to a rusted roof to slow down the rusting process ?
Hi Fred Nu Finish won't aid in the prevention of rust or to slow rusting down. We would suggest you look at a specific anti rust product rather than Nu Finish. Take a look at what these guys are doing for example..... www.rustoleum.com.au/
Thanks Will. I bought a new car a few months ago and have applied the Nu Finish a couple of times. The shine is great and the water beads off great. Just a problem when it gets on black exterior parts. How can I remove the Nu Finish if it's been on the black exterior trim for a few weeks? Cheers.
Hi Greg we recommend using a small amount of mineral spirits for removing the polish residue left behind on plastic trim. Don't apply the mineral spirits directly to the affected area, rather lightly dampen a micro fibre cloth and test on a small area first.
Just get one of those big rubber squishy pencil eraser ! you will be amazed how well it removes the residue and its non destructive to the plastic surface
Cheers Artie_61 - good tip.
goof off remover takes it off, put a little on a rag and wipe it off, works great!
Armoral will take it off
Hello, what happens if you accidentally get the product on plastic trim? I know you're supposed to avoid it.
Hi GSDubz you can use mineral spirits for removing the polish residue left behind on plastic trim.
Can I use Nufinish in my 2017 Tacoma front plastic bumper?
Hi Joe, provided the plastic bumper on your Tacoma is a painted surface then yes you can apply Nu Finish for a beautiful glossy shine. Nu Finish is not suitable for application on unpainted plastic trim or bumpers. If you are looking to protect and restore your unpainted plastic trim and bumpers we would recommend our Nu Vinyl Protectant.
Do I need to use a "compound" before applying this product? or a "carnauba wax" afterward?
Hi Jonathon, no compound or Carnuba wax required just apply to clean dry vehicle for deep show room shine and long lasting UV protection.
So would you recomend to clay the car first? Also since this is not a wax does nu finish cut the paint or the clear coat at all? If so is it safe to use on a buff to get a deeper shine? Thanks
I wouldn't put it on a buffer unless you want a real mess. It is not a wax! It does not apply like a wax. When nu finish dries, it actually turns into a chalk like powder that can be very hard to get off if you apply it unevenly. The buffer will cause the nu finish to dry unevenly.
I find that applying with two towels like in the video is the best bet. The stuff is great btw. Better than any wax ive tried including turtle wax and meguiers ultimate. It does smell like petroleum though but not after a day.
Yea definitely clay the car first then apply with a lightly damp towel or applicator pad, gets super slick after
Can I still use quick detailer spray wax to add more shine? After applying nu finish? I like that it protects the paint longer than regular waxes. But I like the shine of meguiars ultimate quick detailer. Thanks
Hi Maurauder you sure can. There is no problem whatsoever applying further coats of spray shine products to a Nu Finish coated car to give you the extra shine you are looking for.
How about applying it to a car thats has been waxed?
Hi Maurauder edit to last comment we would recommend applying Nu Finish prior to waxing your car. If you apply Nu Finish to freshly waxed car you may find the cutting compound in the polish will remove some of the wax. That said if you do have a wax you like to apply you can still do so after applying Nu Finish.
May concern was most of the time I maintain with wax at least once or twice a month, and sometimes spray wax every carwash, so definitely there will be wax before I can apply nu finish. I dont know how to remove the wax, maybe without waxing for a month before i use the nu finish would be better?
Hi Maurauder the best part of Nu Finish polish is that it acts as both a polish and sealant all in one. So with Nu Finish you don’t need to wax your car at all. However if you do prefer to continue using waxes, particularly spray wax, applying Nu Finish over the top will not cause issues, but for best results you should remove any waxes before applying Nu Finish. One of the best ways to remove wax coatings is with a clay bar. If you would like to discuss further, please send us a message on our Facebook page and we can give you a bit more detail.
Hi, I'm use Meguiar's Ultimate Anywhere Waterless Wash & Wax to wash my car, so can I use this product after that ?.
Hi Sun, you sure can apply Nu Finish after washing your car with the product you mention. Nu Finish will give you that extra layer of protection and a deep showroom shine. The key thing to remember before applying Nu Finish to any surface is to ensure it is clean and dry.
@@nufinishaustralianewzealan4327 Thank you for your reply. I will try it. Cheers.
Currently I use Turtle wax's 2 in1 car shampoo and wax product every 2 weeks, I presume it would be safe and better for my car to add this product to the regimen? Would it cause any issues? Sorry if this is a stupid question
Hi Brain no issues at all in applying NU Finish to your vehicle after using the turtle wax.In fact its a great way to "lock" in the wax. Best bit is you won't need to apply the way as often as the Nu Finish will help prevent it wearing plus it adds a strong UV barrier to you paint work and helps improve the shine.

Is it a Polish or Finnish brand?
what's the difference between this and the gazillion cleaner wax product available on the store, it seems like just another wax+polish product out there
Hi Allah what sets Nu Finish polish apart from the rest is the super easy application, just rub on wait to dry and buff off for a super deep gloss showroom shine. That and the fact just one coat of Nu Finish will provide a showroom shine and complete UV protection for up to 1 year. And if that's not enough we offer a full money back guarantee, if not totally satisfied you can return the unused portion to place of purchase with your receipt for a full refund.....Nu Finish not just another cleaner wax product - see what we did there :) !
I tried and it really worked on my car
Not anymore....the current formula lasts only a couple of months.
I think it works better without using a damp cloth
@Tyrone Shoelaces ok
My grandma had makeup all over the door pillar trim, I tried everything and absolutely nothing nothing worked. NU finish took it out like butter.
So with the Nu Finish applied, does it protect the car's paint and clear coat from bird droppings? (The birds thought it would be funny to poop on my car just as I washed and polished it...)
Hi QD don't you just hate it when that happens its like they do it on purpose lol. Nu finish adds a polymer barrier to you cars paint surface for protection but bird droppings can be particularly corrosive so whilst you will get some initial protection get that bird poo scrubbed off as quick as you can, and importantly don't allow it to dry or harden in the sun if possible.
How much nufinish are you supposed to use? About half a bottle for the whole car or 1 full bottle?
You don’t need that much, probably third of a bottle of you spread it right
how often do you need to apply it after your first application to your car?
Hi Marvin, Nu Finish is the once a year car polish and a single coat should give you 12 months protection and shine. That said for best results we suggest adding an additional coat a month or so after your first coat to ensure full coverage and a long lasting shine.
Thanks for the info, probably I will do it every summer
Will be be over-killing if I apply a layer of wax after I use Nu-Finish?
Or this product eliminates the need for waxing?
Is this a polish or sealant product?
Hi there, thanks for your enquiry. You do not need to apply a coating of wax over Nu Finish, however it all depends on how much protection / shine you want to achieve. In general, people are either a Polish or a Wax enthusiast, not both. Nu Finish is a polish that applies a thin layer of protection over your paintwork, protecting from bird droppings, road grime etc. Some people like to apply wax over the top for additional shine, we just recommend if there is a previous layer of wax, to remove this before applying Nu Finish for best results.
Nu Finish Australia & New Zealand how do you remove previous layer of wax?Just by washing with soap and water?
TheIndianscout probably a clay bar.
@@TheIndianscout use dawn detergent ....warm water and wash it ...repeat when needed. Claying has nothing to do with wax removal.
So this is an abrasive and sealant all in one
Hi Ivan, Nu Finish Polish when applied to your paintwork, gives a light cut and seals the surface. There is no harsh abrasives in the formulation and it will not strip clear coat off. You also don't need to apply a wax sealer afterwards, although some people like to do this as well as personal preference.
Nu Finish Australia & New Zealand thnx will get some after work
no, its a sealant not a polish.......
I use this stuff to polish my guitars. It doesn't smell very nice but its good stuff for the price point.
How did you remove the polish off your car and not have white dried residue left, I can only describe it as dandruff, it took me longer to remove the dandruff bits off my black Vw passat than it did to snow foam, two bucket wash method and clay bar
If you are getting white spotting it may be a result of an uneven paint surface, one that has become pitted or chipped. On this type of surface small particles of the polish can build up in the indentations of the paintwork. This is more noticeable on dark coloured vehicles and will vary widely depending on the condition and colour of the surface. In this occurs you may need to get the vehicles paint work repaired or polished professionally to restore it to a completely smooth surface. Once repaired Nu finish can be applied to provide a strong layer of UV protection and a deep shine.
Nu Finish Australia & New Zealand my car paint work is top draw as it’s only a 3 year old car with pearlescent paint,
@@MrTheomighty1 Hi thanks for the reply given your paint work is relatively new what we described above may not be the issue. So we can understand your request further please message us with a contact number and one of our customer service representatives will be in touch to discuss.
Does it work on fiberglass boats?
Hi Jim, Nu Finish works as well on fiberglass boats as it does on cars....
New Finish is nice and all but it does not remove scratches and swirls. It brings out a great shine.
Hi Jemy, thanks for the comment, Nu Finsh polish will help remove minor swirl marks but for more difficult to remove swirls you might want to try Nu Finish Scratch Dr.
Do we need to wash the car before applying?
Yeah, give the car a wash first. You don't apply waxes or polishes to a dirty car.
Won’t the abrasives in the polish cause unwanted swirls?
Hi sorry we missed your comment. Nu Finish polish contains only a very small amount of abrasives. Unlike other polishes that cut into the paint work to increase shine Nu Finish applies a fine polymer coating that gives you a deep showroom shine and long lasting UV protection. We highly recommend using a brand new/separate microfiber towel to that which the vehicle was washed with when applying Nu Finish as most swirl marks are caused by contaminants in your towel when re used.

Can you apply Nu Finsh over exiting wax and / or sealants?
Hi Max thanks for your question. Yes you can apply Nu Finish over wax or other sealants to add an additional layer of UV protection and to provide an extra deep glossy shine.
I am a professional detailer and the correct answer is no! This formula has micro abrasives within its formula which will remove any existing wax or sealant that you had previously applied to the paint. Same rule applies to all waxes, sealants and polishes in the cleaner wax category. It cannot be layered!!!
I am not sure why the manufacturer is replying back with this incorrect answer. I would love to hear an explanation of how their abrasives in their product don't remove any existing coatings.
I also don't like the false advertising on the front of the bottle stating that there is no rubbing. Of course you have to rub the product onto the paint since it is not a spray.

Do you have to wax your car after applying this or no? Since this is a polish
Hi Eilia you don't need to apply a wax sealer afterwards as Nu Finish alone will protect your paint and give you a great glossy shine. That said some people do like to apply a coat of wax after applying Nu Finish, its a personal preference.
Thanks so much for the answer as this was very confusing to me. I read from many sources that you must apply wax after polishing. So I guess this should be called more like a protectant than a “polish”
Hi Eilia happy to help, Nu Finish Polish is a liquid polymer polish which forms a protective layer on your paint surface, so it both polishes and protects. Plus because it does not contain wax, it can be applied in direct sunlight.
It's a bit confusing on the term polish here, as in general detailing sense , polish means using an abrasive substance to lightly remove a tiny surface of your paint in order to reveal the fresh , untarnished paint underneath. if is just applying a protective layer on top of the paint , it should be called waxing/sealing depends on you are using natural waxes or synthetic sealant.
@@chantakzee It does have very mild abrasives in it.
Been using for years, makes my truck shine like glass. Meguiars makes a better polish but it doesn't last nearly as long.
Exactly I switched to meguiars for a few years and came back to NU Finish.I just got a white car and Nu finish is great since it polishes--shines--seals--it also has mild abrasives to get out minor scratches.Meguiars is better on deeper black and blue cars--harder--as in elbow grease to use--and it does not last as long.BTW you can use Nu finish to lightly buff out scratches and a very light amount works--just did my new Stinger and I used maybe 1/8th of the bottle for the whole car and the paint is slick and it shines--pops.I plan on using a ceramic spray on sealant to seal the paint for the winter so all i have to do is spray the car or go through a spray car wash for the next 4 to 6 months.Nu Finish depending on the weather can last almost a year also.Nu Finish is also 7 dollars at wal mart and looks like I will be able to use it about 5 to 7 times--which is great.
@@khronin can you use it on the Windscreen as well?
I used it on Saturday just gone. It come up like a show room car and the water just beads off it
I don’t know what was wrong with the paste I got then. It turned to a hard glaze almost immediately after applying. The stuff was such a pain to get off I thought about using a palm sander almost. Applying it with a damp cloth was worse than applying it with a dry one. Maybe the paste I got was old or something. It looked normal in the container but was a HUGE pain to wipe off. It was not nice and easy like in this video. I have faith in the product so does anyone have any ideas? Entirely possible I was doing something wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time. Hahaha
Hi Andy apologies for the late reply . The paste is thicker concentrate and as such you only need to use a small amount of it in comparison to the liquid version, and yes it does haze quicker than the liquid. The polish part of the process should be the same as the liquid once it has dried to a haze but i suggest you may have applied a little too much paste making it harder to polish off. Next time try using less paste in the application part of the process and see if that makes a difference. Please let us know how you get on.
Thanks for the info. I was fairly liberal with how much I put on so you are probably right. Maybe I will just get the liquid and try that. Otherwise I’ve been using Chemical Guys products and they are very good but all it takes is a few good rain storms and it’s mostly washed off so only applying Nu Finish once a year sounds pretty good. Cheers! Thank you.
Hi Andy like i suggest give it another go but with a smaller amount of paste and apply with a damp cloth and i think you will achieve better results. Failing that we offer a money back guarantee on all our Nu Finish products so if you are not totally satisfied return the unused portion with your receipt to place of purchase for refund or exchange.
I don't know what it is,only one word explains it, M A G I C .
Not anymore!
Will Nu Finish last longer if we allow it to cure overnight?
Hi Natnut, there is no curing time for Nu Finish. Best application is achieved by applying the paste or liquid polish to a clean section of the car, one area (panel) at a time, then allow the coating to dry to a white haze and buff or wipe off. Its that simple.
@@nufinishaustralianewzealan4327 can it be used on the Windscreen ?

why do they call it a polish when its a sealant?
Hi Robert. Nu Finish Polish does both. It is a unique formula that has a light cut to polish and bring up the shine on your paintwork, plus creates a layer of protection. With Nu Finish Polish, there is no need to apply a wax sealant afterwards, although some people like to for added shine.

@Tyrone Shoelaces Yes. Polish=abrasive. You use it after having done work or aesthetic repairs on your car. If you polish your car 4 times a year you're gonna be in trouble :S
Sadly, Nu Finish changed their formula a few years back. The current formula doesn't last nearly as long as the original formula.....so pathetic what some companies do to make another penny!

G'day Mighty Eagle, alive and kicking down here, Yes we recommend cleaning (washing and drying - make sure completely dry before application) your vehicle prior to applying Nu Finish.
