- When you don't have protection on your Tesla, scratches are going to happen. When you look at your cars paint in sunlight, you may notice all the swirls across the paint.
Regardless of whether you are dealing with swirls, scratches, or even just stuck on bugs, using a product to correct these imperfections without damaging your Teslas paint is critical.
Nu Finish has been around for a long time, and has been the go to for many people. Their Scratch Dr. product is specifically formulated to help message out scratches and swirls without doing heavy damage to your paint.
Once you have removed scratches and swirls, their Once a Year Polish is the perfect top coat. This polish is actually a synthetic wax that is made to last longer than traditional waxes. This polish will help keep your Teslas paint bright and shiny for a long time and also makes removing bugs from the front bumper a lot easier.

I’ve been using both of these products for years. No complaints & highly recommend
One of the OG reliable products out there
My young kids decided to try flying a kite near our car and didn't seem to notice the kite was bashing into the side of the car as they were running. Leave them alone for 2 minutes and come out to 6 long scratches down the whole side of our Mazda CX5 with the dark blue metallic paint. Thankfully they weren't deep. This stuff seriously helped. I'm not going to lie and say they are totally gone. But they are at the point you can not see them unless you knew where to look. Wasn't sure how to apply it so I watched your video. Thanks!
Yea it’s actually really good stuff as it doesn’t have the cutting agents found in most of these products.
Been using this product for years! 👍🏻
Me too. Simple, and works.
Wow! That is amazing how the Scratch Doctor was able to remove that deep scratch - so now the question is, if it is able to remove such a deep scratch, wouldn't that mean the Scratch Doctor must have also removed the clear coat on the paint?
Great video for help! Looks awesome! Thank you!
No problem!
Great idea. I had my car wrapped to make my life easier.
Me too and I’m happy I did!
I’m getting ready to attempt to detail my Y on my own before selling it. I will try these out. Thank you for the video.
Cheers
Keep the videos coming. Is this car ceramic coated? Can this product be used on ceramic coat?
This car is not ceramic coated. You can use this on a ceramic coated car though if you did have a scratch. Just make sure to reapply ceramic to the area after
Dr. BTG! Wax on, wax off! 💯
Lol
Is this the new M3LR you ordered? Love the blue paint finish on my MY.
No it’s a 2019 from a local subscriber
I usual, I've learned something new. I have, but haven't used yet for my Model Y, Wizards Bug Release. Have you tried that and do you have any thoughts? Thanks.
Yea for bug removal it’s good, but for scratches you need something like this
Would you recommend using this product to prep the front bumper for PPF?
Yes, it is a great product for peeping the surface. Don’t put the polish on! Or any wax or ceramic
Ok seriously now.. the swirl/scratch remover looked worse after you applied it than before, and it didn't remove a single swirl. Unless you are doing it wrong (I don't know), it doesn't do a thing.
True
I can attest that the scratch doctor doesn't do anything but remove money from your pockets. I tried it on my car and I wasn't even able to remove the lightest scratches that I was sure would come out.
Yeah I’m gonna call this a fail
The stuff almost ruined my paint. It left a film that dried into my paint. It's terrible. It didn't remove any marks or scratches..I want my$ back..this stuff is made in China. I like McGuire's it's great and never failed.
@@daviddowns7552 I am 50 now, and was using nu finish back when a teen as I excitedly wanted to surprise my uncle and show him his car all new and shiny. He was and still is the kindest man and I just wanted to do something for him to say thanks. But that tells you how long Nu Finish has been around LOL. I used the original one, the one they call a "once year car polish", and buffed and buffed but apparently left haze all over his car that he saw the next day and was mortified, said his paint looks ruined. It took a proper detailer to clean it all up. I remember it clearly as it was his brand new Mazda MX5 in red and I was 16. It was on a cool day (not cold, around 15 Celsius) and clouds were out, no direct sunlight. Point is, I always attributed it to me doing something wrong, but maybe their products are just crap? I had plenty of towels and spent hours on it and had plenty of room in the large drive way so it's not as if I rushed. I remember this situation distinctly as we were all at the grandparents for our usual Friday food get together, and I took it upon myself to do this LOL. Needless to say I did not do him the favour of polishing his car ever again. 😁
scraped my car and had scuff marks all along bumper
tried the tw hybrid, compound coat then sealant , by hand, did a good job about 80% by hand, didn't have buffer
then tried the nu finish, and it made it worse, muddied the shine and removed the color matching effect
so I re applied the tw but it didn't result as good had I not used the nu finish, which made it waxy-and dull looking and showed the scratches more..just my experience
Make sure you polish the car afterwards if you are looking for a refreshed shine. This does remove scratches, but if you have more scratches, then your rag had stuff in it because this does not have a cutting agent in it.
“Wax on, right hand. Wax off, left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don’t forget to breathe, very important.” 🙂
Ah! Mr Miyagi resurfaces with some of lifes' wisdom
Hahahahaha
Can this brand remove scratch from the taillight plastic cover
Thank you
Its worth a try
Very Nice Bearded Bro! Get Good People/Tesla!
cheers
Didn't you have ceramic coat on your car? Just curious how this works on ceramic coated vehicles.
This is a local subscribers car, not mine. It will work on ceramic, but you’d want to reapply ceramic to that area after
Bc you’d obviously damage the ceramic coat lmao Good lord
Is this applied on PPF or bare paint?
Bare paint. Will not do much for self healing ppf
So does this just fill in scratches/swirls? I'm just wondering if it will wash off if I take it through the car wash.
I know you were saying it's different than scratch removers that remove the top coat to even out the surface, so I'm not sure if scratch dr is just a temporary fix.
no it doesn't fill in, it is a compound that helps to smooth out the scratches to make them disappear
Im wondering how to get this product off one of my cars so I can apply graphene…
This doesn’t cost your car, this just removes contaminants. Just wash your car with dawn dish soap so there’s nothing left behind and you can apply whatever coating you want
@@BeardedTeslaGuy remove contaminants like a clay bar does? I have a lot of oxidation and I’ve been using the clay.
@@denisef1153you're gunna need to compound with a polisher to get rid of oxidation if it's bad
If your minute was an actual minute I'd be in the ground already 😅
Does it remove deap scratches?
No, this is for surface scratches. You'd need something with a cutting agent for deeper scratches.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy thanks you
Don’t you have ppf?
yes I do, this is a local subscribers car though.
Did you have PPF on the front jus curious and/or can it be used to take off bug splat off front bumpers with PPF like my MYLR?
This is a local subscribers car without PPF. You can use this on PPF though if you have tough bugs
@@BeardedTeslaGuy thanks - yes I do have PPF with bug splat and had not found an adequate solution. Thank you!
I like you videos and would love to find product they removes swirls by hand but I am afraid this is not it. Your video showing multiple attempts did not seem to improve surface.
There are more abrasive products out there, but then you are cutting into your clear coat, which you need to tread carefully.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy we have a black model s, film in front, looks great, everywhere has swirls. Really only notice in horizontal spots like back hatch and in sun light. We just got a blue y. Added film to front(was tempted to do myself after your video but chickened out)
Some point will need to invest in a orbital polisher and give it a try.
@@mborski1000
do you have a lot of paint chips? appears that? i assume this doesn't remove chips too?
For paint chips you have to get touch up paint
Isn't your car PPFed?
Yes my car is. This is a local subscribers 2019 model 3
Aaah ok, can't wait to meet you next time we are in Florida hopefully if you are up for it .love it , love your videos, keep it the good work buddy
thanks the product first. objectivity gone. time and time again Nu Finish finishes LAST in all tests of scratch removal.
Because those "tests" are measuring a compound without cutting agents (Nu Finish) with those that have aggressive cutting agents. This is a product that is made to prevent cutting into your clear coat unlike the others.
Nu finish is 10 year old tech…. Switch to the new Turtle wax with Graphine takes less time looks way better
There are other products out there, but you need to balance abrasiveness vs effectiveness. This is a much lighter product on the top coat.
Uniroically using Nu Finish products to detail a car is the most Tesla Owner thing ever. Not that they're bad, but there are better products out there at every price point.
To others in the comments: actual detaling channels exist on youtube where you can get truly expert advice as well as product recommendations. Nothing against this channel, it's fine.
this is just 1 option, and this one does NOT include cutting agents, which is ideal if you can get it done with this before starting to cut into the clear coat.
Wow this is sad coming from a Tesla owner lol
When you are sponsored do they send you a special formula that works miracles that the formula from Walmart doesn't? Because what I purchased off the shelf at the store does not do a dorn thing. It did not take out even the most barely visible swirl marks, let alone a scratch. Who conducted the study that generated their slogan "#1 BEST SELLLING..."? I can sell a million bottles of air and claim it will take out scratches, and it will end up being the #1 selling bottle of air for that day, but I guarantee no one will ever buy it again, and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will never buy this crap again. What I did buy went right in the trash where it belonged.
It would take 20 bottles the way you are using it
Oh man, this is bad.
ALHAMDULILLAH(SWT). ASTAGHFIRULLAH(SWT).
cheers
Is scratch doctor essentially a polish ?
No, it’s not a polish, but it’s also not a cutting agent either. It’s something in between
