    Where I used to live, there was an Indian gentleman who opened up a food kiosk in the food court in the downtown mall, where, among other thigs, he served gobi Manchurian. It was SOOO good, I often had just that and some rice for lunch. I can't wait to try this recipe and see how my version stacks up.
    I'm so glad I found your channel; I adore Indian food and since going vegetarian (and vegan for half the year), I've had a little trouble coming up with delicious things to do with legumes and veggies.

    I (sorta 😄) made this today. I was too hungry and too lazy to make the balls and deep fry it. I just stir fried the vegs and some tofu and then had it with the sauce and rice. It was yummy! Green bell peppers are not my favorite, but I had one that needed to be eaten. It was excellent in this dish!

    I first heard about this dish a week ago in Melbourne, Australia - it's such a coincidence that you've shared this recipe! My Aussie friend loves it, and encouraged us to have it at her hometown Indian restaurant; the owner there was very chatty and almost gave us the full recipe himself! The version we had there seemed to have a much deeper red colour to the sauce - now we're back in the UK I'm excited about trying out your recipe soon.
    Many thanks for sharing this with us Chetna.

    cannot wait to try this, I'm thinking about using 50/50 red/white cabbage if I can get both. Hope i can avoid snacking on the manchurians before serving, maybe just one or two just to make sure they're seasoned & cooked ok for quality control purposes only 🤓

    I've loved your videos for years. If you're open, I'd love to hear why/when/where after seeing multiple videos on India street dishes. The ones I'm referencing have a person scooping curry and pompadoms with their hand into a plate of leaves. Is this common? Is it tasty? What would you change?

    Great to see you using MSG ... BUT I would have added it (1) to the onions and garlic then (2) to the eggs before pouring it into the wok. Yesterdays rice is much better for fryed rice it need to be dry. great meal :)

      @@sarahjohnston4465 exactly why you cant use gram flour here because it will make it a pakora and we are making manchurian

      @FoodwithChetna OK, I'm not familiar with manchurian. Can you explain please the difference between these and pakora

    • @TheVanie92
      @TheVanie92 29 днів тому

      They're just different dishes - only commonality really is that they are fried. Vegetable Manchurian balls are Chinese-inspired fried dumplings and pakoras are Indian-style fritters. @@sarahjohnston4465

    Basmati is not the best rice for fried rice.Shorter grain rice is a better option.

    • @TheVanie92

      It doesn't even matter, she didn't claim it was traditional Chinese fried rice but also traditional Chinese fried rice can use basmati or jasmine - they're both long grain rice which is what traditional fried rice uses. Honestly just enjoy the food, that's all we're here for.
