This channel is a gem for people like me trying to bulk. The majority of high-calorie mealprep recipes on youtube are fitness-people with no clue how to cook, doing rice-steamed veg-seared meat-store bought condiments on rice. Thanks a lot. Great inspiration.

@@prod.hxrford3896 THANK YOU! Agreed there. It does trigger me quite a bit, too. A good way to remember what's correct, @TheBurtle005 is by just removing the other person and just keeping yourself (e.g. "I made this for I tonight" would not make sense, but "I made this for myself" would).
So, technically it should me "...for myself and my wife" but "for me and my wife" is correct enough, too.

All credit goes to Jack Ovens for this fantastic recipe. I always do meal planning on the weekend and I have made this maybe 10 times now. I have a couple small modifications that I think improve upon it, but again, all credit goes to Jack.
1- cut the chicken way smaller, it will be easier to cook a larger amount
2- DEFINITELY cook the chicken in 2 stages like jack suggests, it took me forever to try to cook it all at once
3- I used a 400ml can of dole pineapple tidbits instead of the juice like jack suggests. Make sure you add this to the sauce last or else it will make whisking the corn flour more difficult. I found the chunks of pineapple instead of the juice added a nice juicy texture
    4 - double the garlic
Thanks to Jack and happy meal planning everyone ✌️

Absolutely, mate! I couldn't agree more. This channel is a lifesaver for those of us on a bulking journey who appreciate real, flavorful food. I've stumbled upon so many "fitness" recipes that seem to forget taste entirely. It's refreshing to find a source that not only understands the importance of nutrition for bulking but also appreciates the joy of cooking.

Should sprinkle the sesame seeds on, after plating them in your meal prep dishes.
    Like a finishing garnish...
Would go well with the green onions garnished on top and just make the plating/appearance a slight bit better. Can also top the rice with sesame seeds as well like they commonly do in Japan.

Made this today as a dinner for four. Absolutely gorgeous, really tasty. The portions are generous, in fact the spare one will make two lunches.
Only comment would be on browning the chicken. Had to spilt it onto two batches, and they were almost too big for a ordinary gas ring. Otherwise really simple, highly recommended.

If you eat rice a lot, I recommend getting a good rice cooker. Yes it is unitask tool, but it is worth it. It is almost impossible to make bad rice. Cooking the rice in a pot, I have never come close to getting the rice as good as my Zojirushi. The texture will be better than what you get at a restaurant. And somehow, the flavor is better. I used to look at people who ate plain rice and be baffled how they could eat something so plain tasting. Then I got the Zojirushi and now I know. It cooks brown rice, oats as well. It is one of those things that once you use one, you will never never go back.

Thanks so much for this! A little constructive advice to the audience tho: season the chicken with whatever you’d like (other than the sauce) then sauté the chicken FIRST and then transfer them to a bowl, AND THEN sauté the veggies in the same pan, infusing the flavors of the seasoned chicken into the veggies, then reintroduce the chicken and the sauce for a quick mix-up!
The recipe is wonderful as is, but sautéing the chicken first will kick the veggies up a notch!

If you don't like how tough chicken breast is couple recommendations: pound out the chicken to tenderize or do what Asian restaurants do and Velvet it. Per 1 pound/16 ounce of chicken use 1 & 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (bi-carb) and mix it through cubed chicken with your hands and coat it evenly and set in fridge for 30 minutes then wash thoroughly and pat dry after

    • @ChefJackOvens
      @ChefJackOvens  Рік тому

The chicken isn’t tough whatsoever. No need to pound or velvet the chicken. The way I make these recipes, the chicken is cooked with intention to be reheated so it’s all timed in well without anything else needing to be done
