I watched your video all the way through and was intrigued by the way you added the cooked rice to the beaten eggs before putting the mix into the wok. So I tried the recipe for supper tonight. With leftover pork loin for the added protein, and baby bella mushrooms and small broccoli florets (of course the onions and peppers), this recipe was absolutely fantastic ! Thank you !!
Oh oh, Jeremy is aiming for that Uncle title! FUIYOOOH ?
Maybe until the chili oil😮 also no garlic🫣
Fuiyoooh indeed
I think we can all agree he's reached it - Lee
Nah, hes beyond that lameness. He is a master of the craft not a fake
I was going to use my brand new garlic thing. Nevermind, lol!
Looks delicious going to try this recipe this week .
I made it ... outstanding! For protein I simply cooked chicken with typical stir fry marinate and nothing more, and WOW everybody loved it.
Tried this tonight. Super delicious. Need to try the chilli oil for next time.
Thanks for the recipe. 🍜
love the tip for coating the rice with egg. Definitely will give this a go next time I make this. Thank you.
Hopefully you like it as much as we did! - Lee
Great new technique for me to try. Newly subbed and loving your channel.
Another eggstraordinary recipe...👍
Eggselent you might say - Lee
Love the special rice! 😊
So do we! - Lee
Thanks for sharing!
Loved the rice into the egg trick here. Great stuff. More please!
Wow, I cooked this this evening to go with the shredded chicken dish from a few months ago, amazing, I don’t think I’ll cook fried rice any other way now ❤
Lovely Jeremy!. Like the trick of mixing the rice with the egg by hand and then frying it first.
It's a great way to make egg fried rice! - Lee
I love fried rice. Love to make and especially eat it.
It's the best! - Lee
@@SchoolofWok sure is
Can’t wait to give this a try! Also dying to learn more about the chicken ‘chassile’ but can’t find it. No doubt I’m spelling it wrong! Can you point me in the direction?
Love this method
Going to try this soon! And chili oil recipe from Jeremy is spot on, done it probably 10 times already.
It's so good! - Lee
@SchoolofWok It is! I wrote it down and saved it. Very inspirational channel. The concept of Wok-clock is anchored deep in my (few) brain cells. Like a signature of this channel. Well done in so many ways....
Loved your recipe, now I finally understand how to prepare fried rice
I made this and it was lovely...loved mixing egg with the rice ..different 😊
Tried this with just prawns…will add chicken next time. Amazed that I ended up with rice that was nicely separated on my first attempt. Made my own chilli oil too!
Yummy!!!
Looks so so good. I'm digging out the chicken recipe now.
Hope you enjoy! - Lee
This has me craving fried rice which I haven't had in probably 20 yrs because I'm lazy and only thought about how unhealthy takeout or even restaurant style fried is, so I just didn't have any period. But thanks to you, I'm actually going to try my hand at making yours sans the char siu, I might add leftover roasted chicken instead or just to stick to the shrimp, but an all veg is fine with me to. I'm really looking forward to some ono fried rice finally.
Love this, never tried adding chilli oil, will do next time!
Chilli oil on fried rice is a game changer! - Lee
I'm doing this like 2 to 3 times a week. But i recommend sushi rice. I usually have leftover sushi rice in my fridge, so i can go for it whenever i feel the need for egg fried rice. I prefer the gold over silver method a lot. There's not really a recipe for it. The ingredients change, depends on what i have in the fridge. But i always start with my main aromatics: garlic, galangal, onion and sesame oil. When the onions are golden brown i add some red thai chillies and the rice, that i marinated with egg. Right at the end of the cooking process, i add some finely cut spring onion and a splash of Kikoman Soy Sauce. Perfect if you have some Lao Gan Ma to give it a really special flavor!
Always a great way to use up what's in the fridge! - Lee
Thank you for the chicken barbecue tip!! I too mix my eggs with rice, I feel like it’s fortifying and adds a good texture. Awesome video I will copy.
Hope you enjoy it! - Lee
Well played. I think you have unlocked "uncle title" with this one. You guys should do something together. Thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work 👏
Maybe one day! - Lee
Love to see and hear an Asian person with a British accent. Very unusual. I love it. ❤️
Not really that unusual, there's quite a significant Chinese population in the UK
Delicious!
Thanks! - Lee
I like mixing my eggs with the rice, it's a good technique for golden fried rice, however I only mix with the yolks. I use the whites to scramble and add to the fried rice.
Very nice, 😊 thanks
Thank you too! - Lee
Give it ten minutes and Uncle Roger will be here in the comments screaming about the chicken! 🤣
"Here", he is not death
We're still waiting - Lee
Uncle Roger: No MSG? AIYAA! Its KING OF FLAVOR!!!!
love you jeremy!!!
👍 thanks again!! :)
You're welcome! - Lee
Yummy :)
Looks good Jeremy
It was so good! - Lee
Jeremy, i love you🥳 no, am not gay but i love how you explain the recipes step by step, fully understandable and very informative 👏tonight i made this fried rice with chicken n my wife said, it was the best fried rice she ever had enjoyed 🥰i made also your crispy beef n sweet n sour chicken🤩my wife told, she could swim in those meals🥰thank you for your advices, i loooooove it🤩🥰🥳🥳🥳
It would be nice if you put a link for the other video
Looked appetising especially with chilli. Can I add mushrooms if so I wish?
You can absolutely add mushrooms if you want to - Lee
3:46 when he said what is Jeremy doing i spat my tea out wtf a Chinese dude called Jeremy
I take an empty milk carton, open the top, crack an egg into it, and then add my leftover rice and shake it until every grain is coated. Works every time.
You need one of those jet-engine stove.
Almost Golden Fried Rice
Looks nice. No garlic?😊
Do you use peanut or vegetable oil as it has a hotter point than olive
The ultimate egg fried rice is with Sambal! Period!
That's a good shout - Lee
@2:47 Nice shot with the spit there 😁
Posted the same! Thought it was a kernel of rice, haha.
Whoops, didn't notice that in the edit 😬 - Lee
hey Jeremy, why a cast iron wok instead of a carbon steel?
My mom makes fried rice like this. Dad and I call it lazy because she saves time throwing in rice and egg at the same time...result is soggy rice. Special indeed 😂
She might need to cook it on a higher heat if it's soggy! - Lee
Where’s that wok from?
😋😋😋😋
It is quite interesting to watch Jeremy slowly turn into a Super villain 😂
Dude I was just about to make fried rice tomorrow but I was going to wing it. ill do this instead
How did it turn out? Good, I hope! - Lee
HAIYAAA!
What if I don't have cast iron wok, I only have regular wok. Will it still work with this egg mix method?
I used a large cast-like pan. It came out excellent. Chile flakes, Soy and oyster sauces , sesame oil, extra onion - chopped and fried
No peas or carrots, no leftover meat, no prawns, no hot oil, no salt.
What makes special fried rice special? STRAWBERRY JAM HAIYAAAAAAA
We should start making our fried rice recipes with strawberry jam until uncle Roger notices us - Lee
I’ll only have a Yosukata flat bottom WOK How do I adjust the recipe accordingly for egg and the rice?
Do exactly the same method but move the wok around more to cool it down when it gets too hot! - Lee
@@SchoolofWok Cool thanks....
The answer is Jamie makes it , so it’s special.
Jamie Oliver? - Lee
@@SchoolofWok Jamie Oliver , who ? 😀
Love how she falls backwards
Can anyone recommend a wok for electric hob?
Our carbon steel woks work on electric and induction, you'll be best of getting a flat bottom one for an electric hob! - Lee
Super i take off top Sambal oleg
I love asian ebbers 😊
Now that would be a collab and a half - Lee
link to recipe?
The link is in the description, you can also find the ingredient list there too! - Lee
Lol, sounds like Jeremy took some edibles before recording. 😂
It was a very hot day and I think that may have melted his brain a little! - Lee
I think it lacks the wok hay because it's made on induction stove. And why the peas?
Wok hei is understanding the woks air, and how to regulate the temperature of the wok. It still has the smokiness as you use a high heat which creates the smoke. The peas are for colour and texture, also adds a nice sweetness! - Lee
try do aroma oil for drizzle Trash sesame oil for drizzle
huh? - Lee
Isn't 'marinading' the rice the same effect as chucking the mixed egg in _after_ you've been frying the rice ?? I find that doing that coats the rice grains better anyway rather than the traditional method ??? What do I know 'though, I'm Scottish 🙂🙂
Letting the rice sit in the egg allows it to be absorbed slightly, rather than frying it first and then adding the egg. You get a completely different texture! - Lee
@@SchoolofWok Got it, thanks ! I was thinking it was done the same as deep fried Mars bars (not !) - although, perhaps that _might_ be improved by using the same process LOL :-)
Egg fried rice has three main ingredients:
Egg
Fried
Rice
😆
The rest is details!!
How do you cool the rice without leaving it overnight
Just let it sit in a bowl after it's cooked for an hour or so - Lee
does uncle Roger approve this?
Does not matter. Uncle Roger is not a chef.
According to Uncle Roger, Egg Fried Rice only has three ingredients:
1) Egg
2) Fried
3) Rice
:v
MSG
You say your chicken chow sue (spelling) is normally made from "Pork"! Pigs are so versatile
He said that Char Siu is typically made with pork but he's made a chicken version! - Lee
Every one send Uncle Roger the link!
Do it! - Lee
Still waiting on the uncle roger evaluation ;)
So are we! - Lee
Get uncle Roger over
Why? Uncle Roger is not a chef
Just 3 ingredient:
1)Special
2)Fried
3)Rice
But with peas uncle title will be difficult to get
MSG
Peas are the way forward in fried rice! - Lee
looks like mexican rice
Delicious! - Lee
You call that spcl? In india, our street vendors make 10 times better rice at 10x cheap price of yours and its 100x tastier.
Msg msg msg😂
It was going well until he decided to introduce a new bit of kit that practically nobody will have mor be willing to go out and buy. Way to make it accessible to all
You could use a standard wok or a large frying pan. It’ll be fine. 🙂
You can still make it with a normal wok or large frying pan as someone else has said to you! We we're using a cast iron wok because we had it on hand to use! - Lee
Metal on metal 😬
It's not a non stick, so you can use metal on metal in that case - Lee
Some clown told me this method was unnecessary.. I guess I’m not alone.
No ginger, no garlic, no MSG! :(
Nope! - Lee
Don't look at his mouth at 2:47
Did I see no garlic?!
Yep, there's no garlic! - Lee
you mean, a fried rice but no garlic?! like, Justice League with out Superman? like going home drunk and your mom just lets you in your room with out nagging "what time is it"??? like waking up with coffee but no hot water???!!! is it really possible. could be possible. can it really happen...a fried rice iwth noGARLIC???!!!@@SchoolofWok
Yeah great and all very funny.
But seriously, the recipe says 160 gr of rice. Each spoon that is used in video is the best part of 100 gr, so I reckon at least 450 gr of rice. Why show one thing and list another.
yikes....NOOOOOO
You want to be a chef'???you still have to learn to not wash ur hands in the rice😂😂😂😂
Much ado about nothing.
@mrnigelng what u think?
We already know he'll like it - Lee
@@SchoolofWok no MSG could be a problem tho! Still looked delicious
@uncleroger.
