    Everyone has something they really don’t like. Hopefully it’s a short list! For me it’s mayonnaise, raw cilantro, coffee, and fennel/anise/licorice. 🤷🏻‍♀️😁

    Isn't the "tenderstem broccoli" another name for what the Italians would call "broccoli raab" or sometimes in the USA is known as "broccolini"? It tastes very much like broccoli, but cooks much faster, and the florets don't come apart as quickly as broccoli.

    So, Chetna, I decided to make this tonight even though I had no Broccoli! So I used mixed veg (frozen). Then realised I had no Cumin seeds, only powder. Then realised we can’t get hold of Mango powder so had to use Lemon juice. Made some rice to go with it. Absolutely beautiful, even though I say it myself. The wife loved it too. Many thanks for sharing and its one I shall keep making. Many thanks and stay well.

    i had anticipated you adding coconut milk to it, but that might dull the flavor edge.

    • @FoodwithChetna
      @FoodwithChetna  8 місяців тому +1

      Adding coconut milk to any dish is quite overpowering and that is ok in some cases but I dont like all my recipes to taste of coconut. It looses the real flavour of the lentils or whatever you are cooking.

    the 50ML of water was 70-100 and made it into a soup. is that what you were trying to achieve, or a slight slip of hand?

      The toor dal in particular has a tendency to thicken up as its starts to cool down and I dont like very watery or thick dal, so added water that would give me the perfect consistency when I eat it
