The guy makes no sense…..Your absolutely right on wether he even spoke with a salesmen regarding what he was looking for in the truck or even any truck! How do you drive it off the lot if it was not equipped with what you wanted in a truck? Silly really!
If you're not towing don't need a hitch.9 speeds tend to wander..adaptive cruise does the same annoying thing on any make.v6 310 hp will blow a little Ecoboost off the line.mpg won't be great.backseat room is irrelevant in a midsize..get a 6 ft bed if the short bed is too short..moron.
It almost sounds like you did not know what you wanted when you bought the truck since you got the base model. 1. You can choose to get the hitch when you buy it. Most of them come with it. 2. They sell a king bed with the crew cab if you wanted more bed space. The adaptive cruise control has an update now! Take it to your dealership and it will fix the mpg and cruise control. The rear cargo room is actually bigger than any midsize truck. I test drove every midsize truck and sat in the back! Sounds like you just needed to buy a bigger truck!
Unfortunately the more we complain about this obscure opinion, the more the video wins. The comments and interactions only give the video traction with the algorithm on you tube. I wouldn’t be surprised if the video was designed to promote a negative response just for views. I have a 2010 frontier pro4x in the same alert red colour and beat the hell out of it. It’s on 33” BFG KM2’s with a 3inch lift. And it came with a trailer hitch… It’s a great machine. I call it my sports car truck. I’m probably going to get the new Pro4X trim in January. Literally was going to post my opinion of the video but you nailed it 🤟🏼Cheers
definitely not at all. I knew exactly what I wanted. These things that I do not like about the vehicle in no way was a dealbreaker for the reason why I actually bought the vehicle. A video about why I decided to buy this truck. it’s on the channel as well.
@@shaneanderson8358 I actually really like this truck. The reasons I mentioned in this video don’t really play a role for me day today. This truck is mainly used for off-road Ing and camping in the woods.
You can't compare a full size Chevy Silverado with a Mid size Frontier! I have a 2022 Pro 4x and I love it, I get 21mpg average. Perhaps you made the wrong choice for yourself, as we all know, everyone has different preferences and likes, that's why there are many options in the market.
My man….it’s a smaller truck, if you want the bigger one get a titan. It’s also putting out the most HP in its competition which why you have the lower mpg.
No offense, but it sounds like you didn't research the vehicle enough (or atleast test drive) before getting it. All the mid size trucks except the Ridgeline and maybe the Ranger have the rear seat space issue. Ridgeline has as much rear leg room as a Pilot, and the Ranger cab is just a hair bigger (plus it tows 7500 lbs and gets better mpgs). Frontier is a small truck and its pretty clear Nissan was going after the Tacoma with this redesign. There are tons of reviews showing the space with a car seat. SV trim has a 6ft bed version also. I just got the Pro4X and my only complaint is that it revs high. The space comparison to a full size was pretty funny.
Nissan sells exactly what your needing. It’s called Titan. But honestly thank you for showing how it looks like with a car seat. Love your Frontier, looks real sharp.
Cylinder Deactivation kills the longevity of an engine. GM just had a class-action lawsuit about those 5.3 V8s blowing up right after the warranty was over. Basically when the cylinders turn off they start to cool and the oil in them cools a little as well, meanwhile the other half of the engine is burning hot. The temperature variation causes the cylinders to warp. And they turn back on when you need power, so you're hitting the gas and revving the cooler cylinders sky high. In short all the on-off and temp changes causes the engine to wear prematurely.
@Florida Trucks & Travel I'm glad to hear that! At this point you may be in the clear. My step-dad has had 3 Silverados in the last 40 years. The first 2 both made it 15+ years and 250k miles each before he sold them. The new one (2012) is halfway there and holding up with jo issues. Thanks for the great content! Love your Nissan and I actually think the red works really well with those wheels and tires!
It's all about the direct injection without port injection and valve lifters snapping. The Vortec 5.3 was much better than the Ecotech 5.3. cylinder deactiv. + no port injection is a recipe for problems and GM doesn't care.
I have one of these now i just bought. Pro4X. Been a Dodge guy for 10 years and decided to add a Nissan to the collection. I agree on the cruise control, its insane. The #1 thing I hate?!?!? The rear seat belt chime. If someone touches the other seat while we are driving, the damn thing thinks someone is setting there and the fuckin chime wont shut the hell up. I love the truck. Hate the fucking chime. Like for real, imma throw shit in the back seat the weighs something and i aint gonna buckle it up!
If you had bought the king cab version you'd have a six foot bed. But either way it's no problem just get a bed extender. Once you install it, you'll discover it's the most useful part of the truck.
You know what I like about them ? They don’t break down . They are one of the most reliable vehicles ever . My only complaint would be gas mileage but everything eats gas can’t really get around it unless you want to drive an electric joke .
Did you not test drive the vehicle before you bought it? Sounds like you didn’t do your research very well before buying the truck. Can only blame yourself for all these things you are bringing up as negative. 🤣🤪
Just bought a 23 frontier s king cab so far like my truck the lifetime powertrain warranty actually sold me only real gripe I agree tow hitch should be standard all trucks
As someone who currently drives a 23 lt Colorado you are definitely doing great when it comes to mpg. My 2.7 turbo ia doing 17-19 combined. Only time I hit 20-22 mpg is when I baby the pedal. Highway is great tho ill hit 27mpg highway.
With those tires on the truck, don't expect good mileage. Aggressive off-road tires can easily drop fuel mileage a couple mpg. A turbo four wouldn't help either, turbo engines require fuel to create boost, any situation which requires power and requires more fuel to create boost. My '17 Ram 1500 w/3.6L and Destination AT2s would pull 16.5 mpg in stop/go commuting, but over 24 mpg on the highway so long as you stayed below 70 mph.
Since this video was filmed I have upgraded the wheels and tires. Went from a 265/65/16 Firestone Destination MT on the stock 16" rim to a 275/70/18 on a 18" Fuel Rebel. Even thought the tires and wheels are bigger the gas milage went up almost a whole MPG. Those Destination MT's were definitely some heavy bitches. lol
I have a 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x and I average 24.8 mpg. You must have a lead foot, bro. Also, comparing a mid size truck to a full size truck and complaining about space is like complaining that the night isn’t as bright as the day. I’m sitting here like “Well, no shit! Of course the full size has more room. It’s a FULL SIZE!”
Not comparing the two. Simply stating that just because it’s a midsize truck doesnt/shouldn’t mean that you can fit a car seat in the back seat. Not saying it has to have the same room as a full-size.. And your username is pretty awesome btw lol.
@@jamessteller1914have a 2022 sv I get between 23-25 average , most of my mileage is 30 highway miles to work. The highest I’ve gotten is 27 going 65 on a 80 mile trip. Have 3500 miles so far and mileage has stayed consistent.
@@jamessteller1914the sv has a air dam that the pro 4x doesn’t. Could be a reason why the difference as well as the tire difference between them. My sv came with michelin primacy Ltx all seasons.
I love my 2023 frontier S model King cab and it has a 6-foot bed , I would buy 2 if I had the money, one for work and the other set up for camping. At one point I got 26.3 miles per gallon.
4 cylinder turbo and Cylinder deactivation? These all put added stress on the engine. A NA engine will last longer. Personally I don't care about MPG when driving a pick up truck. Thanks for sharing your views, and posting the video. I just bought a 2023 Pro 4X last week.
I got a 2023. I don't know how I feel about the transmission. It really bothers me when taking off from a stop and just generally shifting. It seems to linger too long and rubber bands REALLY bad at lower gears. The other day I had to get out of a tight spot in traffic and the truck just hesitated and stood there for a moment before up shifting then downshifting again for no reason. I have an SV 4x4. Really my only complaint about the truck.
Normal driving and normal shifting, I don’t really have a problem with. Seems to be fine at that. But yours is newer, though, maybe there is a difference. It’s really just a cruise control that isn’t great. But for my understanding, there is a update you can get done at the dealer that should take care of the issue.
@@4wdAdventurz I've noticed the trucks cruise control is lackluster as well. I upgraded from a 2006 Silverado to this truck. That trucks cruise worked better. Mine only has about 1,500 miles on it. So it's not even broken in.
@@cahabarivr I've talked to multiple people about the trans, even the dealership has made comments about the weird hesitation and shifting on a bunch of the trucks they have in inventory. It's just how the trans is.
@@cypressgold it could be because I drive the heck out of it. 8 9 or 10 speeds take some getting used to. Apparently I just don't notice it. I was lucky to get my truck as it was. It was the first 2022 the dealership got and they wasn't even going to sell it for a while. Mechanics, sales personal and others drove it. They made sure it was ready to go and I happen to have a friend who's a salesman and he talked them into selling it. Saved me around 5k with discounts like Nissan Customer Loyalty and all.
My pro4x didn’t have a hitch from factory. Also the bed size can be selected larger by configuring the truck the way you wish. You saw the truck before you bought it right?
No ya don't. The cluster may SAY 26. I promise you, it's WAYYYYY off. I've done the math MULTIPLE times and the best I ACTUALLY get is 19.5. I've calculated miles to gallons, at the pump, numerous times and mine says 25mpg at the cluster. It's a big fat lie!
5. There was a shortage of hitches so it probably was supposed to have a hitch but got deleted 4. You could have should have bought a truck with the long bed, it is available. 3 all adapted cruise sucks ass 2. If you want to get good fuel mileage buy a Maverick hybrid. 1. It's a midsize truck not a limo the back seat is just in case you have more than 2 passengers. Bonus, you should set fire to it because if I made that expensive of a mistake I think I would run all of my decisions through an advocate from now on.
Hahaha. Ok First I was simply stating that all trucks should come with a hitch standard. But they don’t and I think that’s ridiculous. Second I thought a 5 ft bed would be fine for me but it’s not. Not saying the truck is garbage just my own misjudgment. I wish I had gotten a longer bed option. Third, just because “all cruise control sucks ass” doesn’t mean it’s ok lol and doesn’t mean people know about it.. Fourth I simply said the MPG should be better. I’m this day and age I think we can do better. I know it’s class standard blah blah blah, doesn’t change the fact that the mpg is lacking And lastly the back seat can definitely be a hair bigger. Your telling me there is noooooo way we can add 3inches to the back seat. No way no how..Of course they can. At least make it big enough to fit a car seat in the back without the driver sitting on the dash. Lol and I would never consider a $30k truck “expensive”. Nor did I say I didn’t like the truck. Thanks for watching Jonny boy..
Did you test drive this or was it a Carmax situation? Like you bought it online and they dropped it off in your driveway? Because everything you don't like could have been figured out on the test drive.
Actually I did test drive it. All the issues I talked about in this video weren’t a deal breaker for me. I have another vide on here talking about why I actually brought the truck and what I’m using it for. Thanks for watching!
I have a 22 frontier 4x4 SV and I agree with most of your gripes; the cruise control is total crap. It’s course, harsh, unrefined and flat out terrible. But it should be fixable with a software update. Transmission is also very rough in tow mode, harsh shifting. Gas mileage is not great. I want to say mine has the 5’4” bed and it’s ok. Not having an electric compass in the SV is annoying, but I’ll bet it can be added. Lastly, the door lock logic is anything but logical. If I go to the passenger door and open it with the handle button, it opens only the passenger door. If I then go to the drivers door, it’s locked. If I push the drivers button it locks both front doors again, then I push it again it locks all doors, then push it again it (finally) unlocks the drivers door. Absolutely maddening. This needs to be changed. Multiple software updates. But honestly, these are minor gripes and I actually do like the truck very much. It’s dead reliable and aside from the gripes, a pretty nice ride
I got it because aside from these issues it does exactly what I need it to do. There is a short video I posted on here that goes over why I bought it. I really do like the truck. I know it doesn’t come off that way in this video 😂😂
I have the same truck my wife drives. and I have a ranger. the nissan is a few inches wider and can fit another child in the middle with two carseats. the ranger has much less in shoulder room and much less space between two car seats. ranger has only about 1 inch longer in leg room which doesnt make much of a difference if you have a carseat. the frontier is a midsize truck its not very fair to compare it to a full size truck. the only midsize truck im aware of that has more room in the cabin is the honda ridgeline. the dealer will have some trucks with the hitch on it and some without. they should all have hitches but im guessing its for the dealer to make money on dealer installed parts.
I have a base model AWD 2022 Ridgeline. Really smooth, refined ride, except for wind noise. Disabled vcm, and runs way better. I wanted a Nissan, but rear wheel drive in the snow and ice is not good. I had enough fun fish-tailing with my old Frontier. It lasted 254k though with original clutch. Was the 4-cylinder one; O.D. green. A real slug! But I loved it. Never Let me down.
I have a 2022 king cab 6' bed. No problem with cruise adaptive. Nissan does offer a hitch. 310 HP v6 is one the most powerful in its class. Gas milage is a trade off. I bought my truck for a truck, not a kid hauler!
Oh, you can get 25 MPGs out of a V6 except that it won't be in heavy, boxy designed vehicle with additional drivetrain components (That add even more weight) to make it a 4WD vehicle. It's just physics, the larger and heavier the mass, the more energy you will need.
Installing a trailer hitch takes six bolts! The nuts are already welded inside the frame rails! You helped screw up the mileage and the shifting issues when you installed the taller tires. Did the cargo bed shrink after you bought it and left it out in the Florida rain and humidity?
🤣🤣 The hitch was more of an annoying inconvenience. It makes no sense why all new trucks come with a hitch. I think that's a fair point Milage and cruise control was garbage before the tires. But yes, the bed did infact, shrink..
That has to be an "s" model base. The step up is th "sv" that has aluminum wheels. The sv has a hitch, class 3, that is upgraded with the TOW PACKAGE to a class 4. I believe the window sticker states 19 MPG combined, ya know on the window sticker at the dealer that is required to be there by law. As for the cruise control, I have zero problems with it maintaining the set speed. I could careless is the transmission has to up/downshift that is why it is an automatic.
My 2005 Frontier 2wd with the 4.0 got 21-22 mpg on the interstate with another person and my bed loaded with gear going through Kansas to spend the summer in Colorado. I’ve got 280,000 miles on mine and I can still hit 19 on the interstate most days.
I'm driving my 2005 Ram 2500 for about 19 years now....I was going to downgrade to a Ram 1500 but after seeing the shitty "mild hybrid engines" offered with no other choice I'm liking the simplicity of the Nissan Frontier engine. I think you can get a longer bed now. I will say after renting Toyota, GMC, ford, Jeep, volkswagen and driving thousands of miles. I found the Jeep grand Cherokee to have the most awesome cruise/lane assist. It will keep you in lane best, keeps you perfectly distanced at your selections better than the rest and best of all, it will come to a stop and resume speed with traffic. For this alone I may rethink the Ram and give it a test drive assuming it's the same system. This will be in a year or more....my 2500 is getting a tune up and new K02's. ;)
1. Long bed is an option 2. Cruise control is meh on any vehicle. 3. Gas mileage is controlled by how you drive… I don’t know of any 4 or 6 cylinder with cylinder shut off to my knowledge. 4. If you’re larger…. You need a bigger vehicle…. Heavy set people have the same seat size as any other person on an airplane… I’m not digging at ya but you maybe should have invested a bit more research in your purchase…. Comparing a mid size to a full size is like comparing lemonade to orange juice… some like one over the other or one suits someone over the other.
You obviously hate your truck, trade in in on a Chevy! I have the pro 4X and love it, 0 issues! Has hitch, bed extender, fender system gets 24-26 hwy! I put a K&n on it, I plan on driving it for many years!
That's why I live by the Rules, my own listed rules "Before" buying!! At first I think 🤔💭 about what am I gonna do with a pick up truck and 16 foot box 🚛. I thought 🤔 about it before buying them. What do I do for a living?? Am I just gonna buy it for fun for wanting it or for needing it?? There's a lot of difference between WANTED IT and NEEDED IT. at year 2010 I sold my Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and I bought a 2010 Nissan Frontier Nismo 4.0L V6 4WD with 6 Speed Manual transmission. I have money to buy a much better and expensive Toyota Tacoma but I'd rather go PRACTICAL. I bought it because I'm a General Contractor, Framer, Electrician, and Sheather, so I needed a Pickup that can tow, with a 4WD capabilities and with rear diff lock just in case if I encounter a jobsite with shitty road. The. In year 2017 I sold my Porche Panamera and and Suzuki Hayabusa I got the money then I bought a 2017 Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Turbo Diesel 4WD 16ft box truck with hydraulic lift gate with 6 Speed Manual Transmission I bought it in Alberta, Canada it is brand new. The only car and motorcycle that I have left is my Nissan GT-R and my Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR Which is I'm planning to sell them next year and I don't drive and ride them that much because I'm too busy in my business. What do I needed the box truck for? That's for my additional workhorse 🐎 in my business, including moving business as well That's why in life people gotta think 🤔🤔🤔 before buying things. They need to be practical.
I love my Frontier. There are some trade offs. It’s just me and wife. Still drive around town and a really big truck wouldn’t work. Don’t care about cruise control, rarely use that.
It's called a tow package. An option on every truck sold ever. How did you not looks at the sticker? Also, a 5.5 foot bed actually gives you an extra 6 inches. So Florida man. Texans know how to buy trucks, and we don't care about the mileage.
Wow ! I have a 2019 frontier . It came with a tow bar ( I checked it had one when I bought it ) It has the extended bed ( I checked when I bought it ) Cruise control -- I couldn’t care less because I drive it as a truck Gas mileage was questionable ( I did my research before I bought it ) Car seat installed …. Granted it’s snug , but it’s a mid size truck . I wish you well with your truck but it’s obvious you need a bigger one
Nope. I love this truck. Look at all the other videos on the channel. It's perfect for what I use it for. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting.
I went from a 4Runner to a 2023 Pro-4X a few days ago and am wondering what drug the Nissan dealer put in the bottled water they gave me. I am just now noticing all of the annoying things about this truck. First, yes, the cruise control is annoying. Going from 2000 RPM to 6500 on a slight hill makes me cringe. My 2007 Chevy HHR does the same thing on the same hill on my way to work. The 4Runner did not. Second, my driver's seat won't hold adjustment. It will sit overnight and be reclined a few inches more than when I parked it. Nissan claims I am accidently hitting the seat adjustment while driving. Hard to do while I'm asleep. Anyway, I need to do my own annoying things video on my own channel, lol.
I drove one of these everyday for work and I couldn't agree more, the adaptive cruise control is hard with the shifts and braking absolute garbage and the gas mileage never gets better no matter how you drive
So far my only complaint about my 2022 Frontier is that the AC on high blows at a low to mid s level compared to my 2017 maxima on high. West Texas mid summer 100 degree weather so far that is my only complaint real. after the Frontier has been running for a while the cab of the truck dose get cold but it just takes a while.
Does your driver left vent never blow as warm as the others? I noticed this last winter. If you turn the heat on the vent on far left, by the driver door will always blow cooler than the middle two..not by alot but it's definitely noticable. Does anyone else do this ?
@@4wdAdventurzI bought the truck with 35,000 miles, I had only had the air controls set to cold. I have had the truck for just under 2 weeks. I may have a anser for you, the blower/heater coil/ AC is all on the passenger side of the vehicle. so there will be some temperature variations between left to right side of the vehicle. I think it would be less noticeable if the blower actually blew on a max level instead of a med to low speed.
Your Silverado’s bed cost you $35,000 more than the Nissan. While most women would gladly pay that for an extra 5” in length in bed! It’s actually a luxury for most dudes.
Every truck with a modern transmission does a grade shift mine does it too and I have a 2016 with the old 5 speed auto so some of these thinks I feel you complain about your just nitpicking because every modern truck transmission does grade shifting cause it’s trying to save your brakes.
Stop comparing your full size truck to a mid size truck, lol. Go get a 22 Colorado and compare it to the 22 Frontier since they are both mid size trucks. The Frontier is leaps and bounds better then a 22 Colorado except for the cruise control. Yes cruise sucks until you get the voluntary TCM software update, Helped tremendously and the cruise was my biggest complaint originally, fine for me now. Trailer hitch, why didn’t you buy a Frontier with it on their already? Mine came with one. Gas mileage, I average 22 mpg mixed and I’m lifted 2.5” on stock tires. Interior complaints, sounds like you bought a midsized truck and expecting full size truck room. Bed length, again you are trying to compare to a crew cab full size truck, you also could have got a 6’ bed king cab and lose rear cab space. Can’t have everything with a midsize truck that a full-size is capable of. One of my complaints (use to be cruise control till I had the reflash) the side mirrors, for those with us with tow package they should be a capable tow mirror.
I agree with problem 3 and problem five the V6 is a 310 horsepower motor that's like a small V8 the gas mileage is correct you knew the truck had a small bed when you bought it and you knew it had a small back seat
I have a 3rd gen tacoma. The engine trans is so bad I’ve been looking to replace the truck with the Nissan pro 4x. Btw my tacoma gets 15 mpg in town and 16 hwy. how are you getting 21? Are you driving downhill?
@@Jerlemi2 no I just drive normal. I'm always wondering why everyone complains about how their Tacoma only get 15 mpg avg. If you drive it easy it isn't that bad. Do you have it lifted or something?
The lack of a hitch is a very valid complaint, but I think you'll appreciate a naturally aspirated motor without cylinder deactivation when you get 400,000 miles out of it.
This video is a little frustrating to me, as I feel it unfairly presents the truck as just a Nissan problem. The lack of a receiver hitch is a common thing across makers. My friend just bought a $52K GMC canyon “fully loaded” with all the bells and whistles supposedly, yet it didn’t come with a receiver hitch. Makers are just screwing people on the hitch. The cruise control is going to do what it has to do to maintain the speed you have it set at. Any cruise control sucks on a slope, that’s cruise control 101. With a nine speed transmission, yeah it’s going to downshift maybe multiple times if you hit an upslope and have the cruise telling the truck to maintain 75 mph. Just hit the cancel button and resume once you’re off the slope. As for the gas mileage, one of the biggest determining factors is how you drive it. I drive a 22 frontier S 4x4 with 24k miles on it, probably 75-80% of my time spent highway driving, and I’m averaging 22.5 mpg. As with any car, you have to make driving decisions that help the motor, not hinder it if you want decent gas mileage. Case in point, running your cruise control up a hill is choosing to hurt your gas mileage and make the motor work against itself.
Without the tow package, the S model only tows 3500lbs. No trans cooler. No oil cooler. No trailer sway control. No up hill and down hill assist. And no tow button on the dash which alters the way your trans shifts. I basically wrote a dissertation for my Masters on the Frontier I have researched so much. I want to know what every bolt is for before I buy one.
before buying a car, truck whatever please go at your local rental car and try for a couples days long run round trip and then decide no just only the 10 minutes from dealer.
Agree. I bought this truck mostly for off-road use and camping. But if I use this as an actual truck coming from a full-size truck, I don’t think I could handle it.
@4wdAdventurz I had one short bed truck. I didn't have room for much of anything. I never bought another short bed. I know that long beds can be hard to come by at times. Even buying new you can't get one . That says a lot about who's really using them .
Tbh i test drove a frontier and its perfect for me I’m not using cruise control anywhere but the highway anyways and I had a lot of room and I’m 6 ft it’s good for truck things not suv family things imo
Something thats mind boggling to me is , how TF DID NISSAN MAKE A BETTER TRUCK THAN CHEVY?!... Like this looks clean, is v6, and nissan was so close to perfecting this.. sucks they didnt continue their titan. Imagine the titan with a redesign..
Nissan really needs a 4 cylinder turbo, no doubt. So many manufactures make them, and they are so reliable. I cant believe Nissan does not offer one. Still, the new Frontier is the best midsize truck on the market right now. I really wish I could combine the Ford Ranger engine and powertrain with the Nissan body and aesthetics. There are two manufactures in the US without a turbo 4 in their midsize trucks this year, and they are Toyota and Nissan. That is crazy. The Japanese manufacturers are behind the US in this generation, without a doubt.
Dipstick gone.take it to the dealer at 60k miles and have them change tranny and differential oil.lifetime sealed tranny oil is b.s...only guaranteed for the lifetime of transmission not the vehicle.change it.
@@4wdAdventurz i agree with you, some come with it but most dont , mine didnt come with it, didnt even come with the tow haul mode botton, my previous 22 range also didnt have a hitch
You're comparing a full size Chevy to a midsize. Your complaints are mainly because it's a midsize truck, not because it's a frontier.... Cargo space, bed, and passenger seats. The bed can be upgraded to a 6ft, the trailer hitch can be added as well..
Don’t know how you are driving, or how loaded your truck is, but in our 22 SV, from Mid-NH to Mid-NJ (350ish miles) we got 24.5-25 mpg. That includes several stops and city driving on both ends of the trip. We actually saved the 25mpg as the best mileage per gallon in the computer to prove it to others. lol. I will say that we get the same 19mpg when we are driving 1/2 city & 1/2 highway. Also, you are comparing a mid-size truck to a full-size truck. Not a fair comparison at all.
You bought a low end model. I have the pro 4x. You have steely rims. Also, I get a tow hitch with the pro4x. And gas milage. The GM with vortex engine has displacement on demand. It has hydronic lifters that deactivate up to 4 cylinders. They are known to have problems. I’d rather have my v6 that Nissan gave a lifetime warranty on for the VQ engine
Here is my assessment of your video . A hitch is like 50-100$. cruise control is for cruising not driving up mountains. basically all midsized trucks with the acception of the 2.8 diesel get shit gas mileage. If space matters to you don’t get a small truck, get a full sized one. It sounds like you bought the wrong truck 😂. I bought the frontier because it’s small enough to fit it the little off-road trails I live near
I had a Decked system in my 2011 Frontier, it was a waste of money. Couldn't even carry my golf clubs in it. My 2021 Frontier cruise control works just fine, but does not have adaptive cruise. My 2011 got great fuel mileage, my 2021, with the higher HP engine gets 19 to 21. The new 9 speed tranny is a piece of junk.
80% of the points of this video were mostly for click bait. However, the bed being short is a legitimate regret. If I could do it over again, I would’ve gotten a 6 foot bed all day long.
@4wdAdventurz Today I test drove a Frontier SV King Cab, 4x4, 6' foot bed, all tricked out. $41,000. It rode really solid. And quicker than my 2017 Tacoma. Think I'm buying it.
Thanks for mentioning the cruise and transmission. My city has a loop around it with an overpass every mile or 2. I have a short term lease and I thought the transmission was going out after 3000 miles. It revs up on every over pass and its my main travel way on a daily basis.
Definitely not compare the two. Simply, stating that the backseat could be adjusted to at least fit a rear facing car seat. Not saying it has to be as roomie as a full-size truck, but it should at least fit
I have some more “hates” to add. The 2022 Frontier S was the only vehicle Enterprise had left when I dropped of my 2016 Durango for a warranty repair at a Dodge Dealership. The Frontier made me realize just how nice my Durango is. My impression of the Frontier… -AWFUL turning radius -Terribly bouncy/rough suspension -Poorly tuned power steering… quite uncomfortable in city driving with lots of turns. -Cheap feeling steering wheel that digs into your hand because of the kind of pointy shape instead of it being more round feeling when you grip it with your fist. - Awful stereo -Very Dim interior lighting from the overhead lights. I could name about 6 more things but let’s just say I can’t WAIT to pick my Durango up when it’s finished which I like better than the new Pathfinder (looks too plastic and weak bumper exterior wise, weak engine)and the new Infinity QX60 (My gf has one. Poorly tuned stereo and weak engine). For the record I owned two Nissans in the 90s so I’m not hater, but the three Nissan products I mentioned had me very disappointed after driving them extensively.
The hitch was a pain in the ass to install? I literally just got done putting one in. Its 6 bolts straight up. Took less than 10 minutes. And the wiring was plug and play to a connector on the frame. 15 minutes total from pulling it in, to driving it out ready to tow...
Same exact mileage my 98 frontier 4cyl gets lol. Still a nice truck and looking at this for a second truck. Also it's kind of a weird comparison with the nitpicks. Mid size truck to a full size truck.
You could have ordered the hitch before you bought.Size of the bed could have been 6 foot if you ordered.I expect the 2022 has 9 gears turn off the adaptive Cruze control.Mileage dependent upon how you drive. Not sure why you bought this truck.2024 Nissan Frontier great truck , good mileage, smooth tranny with 6 ‘ box. Hitch with it.Sell yours by a turbo Colorado and watch it blow.
So... To sum it up, you decided to buy a mid size truck and then decided to complain that it's not a full size.
You realize, 4 out of your 5 hates is the way you bought the truck in the first place..were you even present when you picked it up?
Agreed. This guy is clueless lol
That’s exactly what I thought. Unless it was a gift, you weren’t aware of 4 of the 5 complaints???
The guy makes no sense…..Your absolutely right on wether he even spoke with a salesmen regarding what he was looking for in the truck or even any truck! How do you drive it off the lot if it was not equipped with what you wanted in a truck? Silly really!
If you're not towing don't need a hitch.9 speeds tend to wander..adaptive cruise does the same annoying thing on any make.v6 310 hp will blow a little Ecoboost off the line.mpg won't be great.backseat room is irrelevant in a midsize..get a 6 ft bed if the short bed is too short..moron.
I came here tonsay exactly that. Cab space has a bigger option, bed length has a bigger option. What a doof!
I am curious why you bought this truck. Did you buy it unseen?
W comment. Just bought a 2023 one
@@4wdAdventurz Do these trucks have a transmission dipstick , as the last generation of frontier had? Or did they eliminate it .
Agreed!
I got the pro4x also and it's awesome.Getting combined 23.2 mpg
Impulse shopper.
Nissan sells exactly what your needing. It’s called Titan.
But honestly thank you for showing how it looks like with a car seat.
Love your Frontier, looks real sharp.
ditto, those AT tires really dress it up
Cylinder Deactivation kills the longevity of an engine.
No shit? Wow. Well...I there's that... Dang. Now I'm worried about my Chevy 😂😂 it's got 160k on it!
@@timflint25 thanks Tim. I really do love this truck too. It's not perfect but its solid and that's what I mainly wanted.
@@4wdAdventurz there's a ton of 5.3's out there that didn't make it past 50k miles so.....
Lol yeah. That shit sucks.
I consistently get 25mpg with my 2022 Frontier, and I'm thrilled that I have the 4 door long bed (6'1'').
Yup got the sv sport love it.I have a half ton for firewood or heavy stuff to pull or load up.Cant compare half ton to small pickup
Ummm...no you don't. The cluster may SAY 25mpg (like mine does) butttt....when you do the match. It's 19.5.
You bought the cheapest model. What do you expect.
This is by far the best review I've seen complaining about a mid size truck not having full size features.
Does the cruise control hold a relatively steady mph, or does the mph fluctuate up and down excessively on hills ?
Thanks for the review.
It's fine as long as its flat ground. Any kind of grade and it'll down shift one or two gears.
@4wdAdventurz The shifting wouldn't bother me much as 4mph fluctuation. Thanks
You do not averages 24.8 I have a 22 pro 4x fully loaded I guess mine is super heavy or you are lying. Lol

I love my 2023 frontier S model King cab and it has a 6-foot bed , I would buy 2 if I had the money, one for work and the other set up for camping. At one point I got 26.3 miles per gallon.
Japan didn’t put a man on the moon. But we did. That’s why we have a v8 that’ll get 25mpg in a pickem’ up truck.
😂 good point! Damn..
My transmission works perfect with no hesitation at all. The dealership should be able to fix your problem
Rear cargo room? Dude it’s literally a MIDSIZE truck 😂 5ft bed? Again MIDSIZE Truck 😂 some people’s kids nowadays
My trans has been reprogrammed and is fixed. I'm getting 25.8 highway and 21+ combined. Love my truck now.
Did they do that at the dealership? What did you have to tell them to get that done?
@@tanke3601 mine was one of the recalls for replacing the parking paul in the trans and they reprogrammed it then
My pro4x didn’t have a hitch from factory. Also the bed size can be selected larger by configuring the truck the way you wish. You saw the truck before you bought it right?
Dude i love mine! No complaints so far and i never use cruise control. Im also getting an average of 26 in my 2022.
“5 ft bed is useless but I still bought it and I’ll throw a huge decked container in it to make it even more useless”..makes sense…
🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha. Ok
First I was simply stating that all trucks should come with a hitch standard.
I know it’s class standard blah blah blah, doesn’t change the fact that the mpg is lacking
And lastly the back seat can definitely be a hair bigger.
Why did you buy it then?... I have one exactly like it... It fits my needs the way I want and I like everything about it...
I've hauled a grill, king sized bed, fire pit, 3 gun safes, and moved twice with my 2018 ft bed. A bed extender and ratchet straps help a lot.
The cruise control is under warranty. I had mine fixed since it was built before 6/18/23. All Frontiers built before this, has a fix from Nissan.
Installing a trailer hitch takes six bolts! The nuts are already welded inside the frame rails! You helped screw up the mileage and the shifting issues when you installed the taller tires.
Did the cargo bed shrink after you bought it and left it out in the Florida rain and humidity?
🤣🤣
The hitch was more of an annoying inconvenience. It makes no sense why all new trucks come with a hitch. I think that's a fair point
Milage and cruise control was garbage before the tires.
There’s a recall for the TCM that fixes the erratic downshifts
Oh yeah? I didn't know that! Thanks for thebinfo!
This will be in a year or more....my 2500 is getting a tune up and new K02's. ;)
Why did you buy the truck you compared a mid size to a full size trade it in do some research on what you buy take a good test drive
1. Long bed is an option
2. Cruise control is meh on any vehicle.
3. Gas mileage is controlled by how you drive… I don’t know of any 4 or 6 cylinder with cylinder shut off to my knowledge.
4. If you’re larger…. You need a bigger vehicle…. Heavy set people have the same seat size as any other person on an airplane…
I’m not digging at ya but you maybe should have invested a bit more research in your purchase…. Comparing a mid size to a full size is like comparing lemonade to orange juice… some like one over the other or one suits someone over the other.
If you add 6" to the bed, and 6" to the cab, would it not be a full-size truck?
The cruise control problem is fixed now with a TSB. Just go to your dealer and they will reprogram the cruise control. Its perfect now on mine.
You obviously hate your truck, trade in in on a Chevy! I have the pro 4X and love it, 0 issues! Has hitch, bed extender, fender system gets 24-26 hwy! I put a K&n on it, I plan on driving it for many years!
I actually don't! I put up a video about the reasons why I bought this truck. Funny you mention a Chevy though...🤣 Go watch.
Is he comparing the frontier to a 1500 Silverado in bed and interior size, really?
He is not
That's why I live by the Rules, my own listed rules "Before" buying!!
🤣🤣🤣 Texas wishes it was Florida.
Wow !
I have a 2019 frontier .
It came with a tow bar ( I checked it had one when I bought it )
It has the extended bed ( I checked when I bought it )
Cruise control -- I couldn’t care less because I drive it as a truck
Gas mileage was questionable ( I did my research before I bought it )
Car seat installed …. Granted it’s snug , but it’s a mid size truck .
I wish you well with your truck but it’s obvious you need a bigger one
Nope. I love this truck. Look at all the other videos on the channel. It's perfect for what I use it for. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting.
How are you going to complain about gas mileage when you lifted and put bigger tires on it?
This guy is the Karen of the truck world. Did he buy it sight unseen lol
So what you are saying is you were blind folded when you bought the truck! And the post the mpgs on the truck when you buy it ! 19 combined!
Bro thought he was buying a full sized pickup. My brother in Christ, none of these things are worth complaining about
I went from a 4Runner to a 2023 Pro-4X a few days ago and am wondering what drug the Nissan dealer put in the bottled water they gave me.
@@wfirebaugh this winter fire up that heat and let me know! I'm curious..
@@4wdAdventurz ok will do, in about another month or two it will start getting cold.
Your Silverado’s bed cost you $35,000 more than the Nissan. While most women would gladly pay that for an extra 5” in length in bed! It’s actually a luxury for most dudes.
Probably the most underrated comment ever! 😂😂
Well damn, I don't feel too bad about my 2022 Tacoma only getting an average of 21 mpg city and 23 highway now 🤣
I have a 3rd gen tacoma.
@@therangersinger I drive it like an 80 year old. If I drive aggressive it drops to 14mpg.
@@Jerlemi2 honestly man I don't know. My tank average has never been below 20 in the last year.
@@therangersinger no issues out of your engine/trans?
I like the 6 feet bed, but it is only in one trim and no option for a sunroof
Sorry you had such a bad day, dude. Seems like you learned some valuable lessons for your next purchase. You usually get what you pay for...
If you install the hitch after market does it affect towing capacity?
I'm not sure🤔🤔. If I had to guess, I'd say no..
A short bed truck is just a grocery getters truck. Anyone that does anything with a truck needs a full size bed.
That says a lot about who's really using them .
you can't compare a midsize truck to a Silverado!!! Almost all midsize trucks have similar rear space!!!
My 2014 mustang V-6-3.7, is giving me 23.5 mpg. You are right. 19 mpg is F***up.
Do these trucks have a transmission dipstick , as the last generation of frontier had? Or did they eliminate it .
Umm.. I’m 99% they eliminated them.
Dipstick gone.take it to the dealer at 60k miles and have them change tranny and differential oil.lifetime sealed tranny oil is b.s...only guaranteed for the lifetime of transmission not the vehicle.change it.
its only 6 bolts for the hitch, whats hard about it and a plug anplay harness , mine was easy
It's not hard. It was, in my opinion, a step that wouldn't have been needed to be done. All trucks should come WITH a hitch, standard..
He’s got 35 all terrains on it
You bought a low end model.
5 foot beds are pretty useless. Unless you need to haul kids to the mall, get the Frontier SV King Cab with 6 foot bed.
Did you have any mechanical problems
No. So far it's been solid
I traded a 2018 z71 for my 2023 frontier. I prefer my Nissan
Thanks for mentioning the cruise and transmission. My city has a loop around it with an overpass every mile or 2. I have a short term lease and I thought the transmission was going out after 3000 miles. It revs up on every over pass and its my main travel way on a daily basis.
Yeah from my understanding there is a new update the dealer can do that mostly takes care of this issue.
@@4wdAdventurzMy 2023 Pro 4x doesn't have this issue so assume it has been taken care of.
Did you go test it, or just buy it online and have it shipped to you? Didn't you see these things earlier?
You're comparing the back seat of a full size truck to a midsize. Of course it's going to be smaller.
Definitely not compare the two. Simply, stating that the backseat could be adjusted to at least fit a rear facing car seat. Not saying it has to be as roomie as a full-size truck, but it should at least fit
If you have all these complaints why did you buy it?
Because it does all I need it to do. I love this truck. Watch some of my other videos.
I have some more “hates” to add. The 2022 Frontier S was the only vehicle Enterprise had left when I dropped of my 2016 Durango for a warranty repair at a Dodge Dealership. The Frontier made me realize just how nice my Durango is. My impression of the Frontier…
-AWFUL turning radius
-Terribly bouncy/rough suspension
-Poorly tuned power steering… quite uncomfortable in city driving with lots of turns.
-Cheap feeling steering wheel that digs into your hand because of the kind of pointy shape instead of it being more round feeling when you grip it with your fist.
- Awful stereo
-Very Dim interior lighting from the overhead lights.
Everyone agrees with the cruise control issues. WTF Nissan.
The hitch was a pain in the ass to install? I literally just got done putting one in. Its 6 bolts straight up. Took less than 10 minutes. And the wiring was plug and play to a connector on the frame. 15 minutes total from pulling it in, to driving it out ready to tow...
I got the bed extender on my 2023 pro 4x
Hate to break it to you, but we never went to the moon.
😂😂😂.
Same exact mileage my 98 frontier 4cyl gets lol. Still a nice truck and looking at this for a second truck. Also it's kind of a weird comparison with the nitpicks. Mid size truck to a full size truck.
I still love the truck. These are nitpicks..
I posted a video a why I actually bought the truck.
Why did you buy it
Great question! I posted a quick video explaining.
Gave a like just for the Mario Andretti comment
😂 yes sir.
