I'm a very data-focused person and have spent hours researching this truck, and you summed it up in 17 minutes. I really enjoy and appreciated this review style!
I am not a fan of Nissan as a whole but I am a fan of this truck, while most truck makers are pushing small high winding turbo charged engines, Nissan still offers a large naturally aspirated V6 and still using the same basic truck structure from 1997 and up, tried and true. That goes for Toyota and Ram dropping V8s in full size trucks that can pull 10K pounds, sack-religious. Ford still offers 1 V8 in full size trucks and GM still offers 2 while working on a new V8 for future half tons. Regardless of how well you build anything, if it has to work harder than the other (V6 vs V8) to achieve the same thing, it will NOT last as long,, so in saying that, kudos to Nissan for sticking with a tried and true engine.
Ironically the “high winding turbo engines” you speak of make most of their power down low, thus running at lower rpms. They are designed and built like Diesel engines. I have considerable seat time in GM trucks with the 5.3 V8, 6.2 V8, 3.6 V6, and now the 2.7turbo. I can tell you that the turbo engine runs lower rpms and the transmission downshifts far less than with the other engines.
@@Holden-McGroin The turbos only wind high in the snail itself. What IS higher is internal pressures and temperatures, which creates extra stressors that have to be compensated for in materials, engineering, and lubrication and cooling systems.
I bought a Pro-4X 6 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It’s quieter than most cars and has excellent driving manners. I also chose this truck because it’s the last V6 mid size truck. Got it for 4k below sticker and 3.9 APR.
100% agree. And I purchased a 23 Pro4X 5 months later. The truck is perfect. I have to believe that car companies are actively sponsoring hate campaigns against Nissan. The crazy complaints and bad reviews of some UA-cam channels is just wrong. These are good trucks and I think people who own them will tell you so.
It does seem almost conspiratorial. People fear and hate what they don't know. Most of the haters are not owners. Conversely, most of us ACTUAL owners like them a lot. I've had the same one for 29 years and STILL rely on it, if that says anything. 428,000 miles now. Just took it on a 10 hour road trip. I was hoping Nissan hadn't dropped the ball on the new ones, and from the info in this video, I think they've still got it. Ever seen the Million Mile Frontier on TFL truck channel? How can anyone knock that?
It was because of the bs on many UA-cam channels that I started my channel with the goal of being 100% fact based. Also why I don't do driving impressions or reviews. Anything that is subjective or opinion based can vary too much. Facts are facts and indisputable. Once someone knows that they can then uses those facts to see what vehicles fit thier needs and then test drive them and figure out rhe opinion based stuff for themselves without any bias. Perfect example: for 6 years the biggest complaint that hurts the ram 3500 Cummins truck is "suspension is too stiff"😂😂
@@Jason-Samko yes and I might add.. people are being prayed up on by advertising, example big flat screen displays that look modern and are terribly inefficient and even unsafe for some. And stiff steering ... What does that mean? I love the tight steering. And the turbo .. it's probably ok but we won't know for 5 years.. and if it's bad... Oh boy.
I bought a loaded 2024 SV... Love love love it. I was going Tacoma because I had one in the past then they changed it all. I love the 3.8l v6 in the Frontier.
I'm on my 3rd pro-4x. I've used all of them as work trucks for my construction business. They are often loaded near max gvwr and towing a 2000lb trailer. I know I should probably use a 1/2 ton full size, but I prefer a smaller truck. I haven't had any issues with any of them, and I hope my 2024 will be the same. So far so good.
Just finished up 315K on my 2000 Nissan Xterra (handing it over to our son), and bought a 2024 Frontier SL short box Crew Cab. Love Nissan and their V6. Super solid and loaded with great features. Great review video. Thanks.....
I traded my 2017 Tacoma 4cyl stick shift on a 2024 Fontier and I love this truck. It has much more power and It rides better than my Subaru outback. While the mpg is less it rides great. I am a old guy and I wanted a truck that can pull 6000 pounds and still give me a comfortable ride. This sold me. After 2000 miles I finally put my foot on the pedal and the power was there. No complaints here. Heated seats and steering wheel are a nice things to have. The quality is above what I saw on other brands. And its not a 4cyl turbo its a 6 cylinder naturally aspirated engine, Because I am a old guy this might be the last truck I ever purchase. For now I am very happy with it. Keep smiling and God Bless.
Im on my second Nissan frontier ( traded first in at 185,000 miles ) on the second one. Now have a 2018 with 155,000 miles and zero breakdowns from either truck. By far the most underrated small truck on the planet since 2010 or so.
Great Timing! I just bought a Pro-4x on Tuesday! I'm glad you didn't think it was junk! But my research had found the same things as you. I do agree about the bed tie downs. I plan to add the bottom rails to the bed they used to have. My only other quibble so far is that the fuel door has a plastic hinge. Feels cheap. But other than that I love the truck so far.
I've never heard of a plastic hinge. After my vehicles are three years old, I put 3-in- One oil on the metal hinge. A bottom tie-down capability is a needed necessary !
The timing of this video is Excellent since many Tacoma fans are thinking of buying a new Frontier instead of the Troublesome 2024 Tacoma. Reading through the comments of many automobile channels, people would rather stay with the Japanese automakers instead of switching to General Motors or Ford or Stellantis. Seems like you can make deals with Chevy and their Colorado. Frontier already has low pricing compared to other mid-size pickup trucks. The bottom line is reliability for most.
I have a 37 year old Nissan truck for that very reason. I had no idea of how long they built these things to run. It just sort of stuck around and never quit.
Speaking as someone that just bought a Frontier, you’re right on the money. If Toyota still had the same engine as last year I likely would have bought that instead. I like Toyota, my wife got a new Toyota SUV last year which has been great, but I feel like they really missed the mark with the new Tacoma. The engine and the pricing seem out of whack with what consumers like myself want out of a mid sized truck.
I have been a Toyota driver all my life (46), and on July 4, I became the owner of a 2024 Nissan Frontier King Cab VS ($28,990). This is my first truck, and after reading these posts, I am slowly being encouraged and worry-free, hopefully for the next ten years.
Nissan Frontier is reliable. I can give you another example. I walked through many junkyards and you won’t see many Nissan Frontier just a few and old years only. Or some other reason like an accident. Just like previous generations Toyota Tacoma. Rarely seen on the junkyard. While Nissan sedans there are tons of them. This is also a good indicator how reliable the vehicle is.
@@abirsanu fantastic point! And something many don't think about. Nissan cars suffer a bad reputation from the stupid cv Trans. But the frontier and titan trucks are rock solid
While could be true, is it because Frontiers are more reliable overall or is it because there’s much more Tacomas sold to where even if it’s the same chance of reliability, you’ll just see more Tacomas failing due to sheer numbers
@@Jason-Samko probably, I’m just saying walking through the junkyard and observing purely off what you see isn’t a 100% accurate way of assessing what’s reliable. Like if you go to a Toyota mechanic shop, ask him if Toyotas are reliable and they say to you “heck no we work on them all the time!” Is it because they aren’t reliable or is it because that’s all they see lol
Nissan also sells way more sedans than trucks that are usually to a crowd who heavily abuses them with no maintenance. That is why you see more in junkyards.
I own a 2022 Frontier that I bought brand new. Two years in with zero problems. I love the truck. Quiet, powerful, well-assembled. The drive train is a gem. I would buy it again.
Bought a CPO ‘22 Frontier S (base model) 4x4 king cab with less than 19k miles for under $28k. Still has remaining 7yr/100k warranty. The engine and transmission in this is awesome. It’s quick and shifts pretty smoothly.
I have a 2023 Pro X. Wanted a Pro 4X but all of them in my area had a sunroof, which I didn't want. So far I've had great results with my truck. I have owned several and never been disappointed. I average 24-25 mpg in normal driving. I have an enclosed cargo trailer I pull every now and then with about 4k pounds. Pulls good but pulls mpg down to around 17 at 75mph. We have a really good Nissan dealer in Monroe, Louisiana so in about 2 1/2 years when I pass mine down to kids I'll definitely look at a Pro 4X then since selection seems to be better. I also like the Gladiator Rubicon or Willys. I don't do serious off roading, but it's nice knowing I can if I need to. Keep up the great channel. I just wished more truck makers would offer a manual transmission in any trim level.
I am seeing more of the Pro-4x with the Technology package and the Pro Convenience package which is what you wanted and I'm most interested in. That's everything with cloth and no sunroof. The Pro-Premium package is the one to avoid. Hope that helps when you start looking at dealer sights that give you that wall of text for what's equipped.
Thanks for this in depth research Jason. Last year I was thinking I would be buying the 24 Tacoma but not anymore with there BS markups and questionable quality these days. It'll be a Nissan PRO 4X or a loaded SV model.
If you don't like the Pro 4X as an everyday driver you may want to check out an SL. It's an upgrade to the SV. They are really nice. Not as off roady as the Pro 4X but nicer as an everyday driver. If definitely get it in 4x4.
I have a 2022 frontier s and I've had no issues with it, and when I changed the intake filter to k&n filter and a cover on the back of my crew cab I'm managing 25.8 mpg on the highway summer time only. Also, mind you, I'm not driving like a complete lunatic. I have 33000 miles on it. All I've done to it is every 5000 mile full synthetic Pennzoil oil change, mobile one oil filter and front and rear diff fluid change also full synthetic + oil catch can.
Frontier has good transmission based on Mercedes design & licensed out also it has billstien shocks & zero gravity seats that dodge was going to use on the new Dakota several years ago before opting not to & they even used Ford's front window design for better vision also the new engine was designed extremely well where the air & fuel burns extremely efficiently in the combustion chamber for fuel milage & horse power also a real power steering that feels planted opposed to electric assisted that doesn't give real feedback to the road & is costly to repair it's the best bang for the buck in midsize class & if you opt for some nismo upgrades to suspension & bumpers etc it's amazing for over landing & camping & still cost less than top of line competitors
I have had 2 nissan frontier pickups, I bought a new frontier king cab sv 4x4 in 2012 for work, I drove it for 200,000 miles without a single issue other then oil changes and routine maintaince, it was never in the shop for any issue so in 2018, I gave my 2012 to my son , then compared it to the tacoma and couldnt justify the extra 7,000 dollars for the tacoma plus ,I liked mine so much, I bought another king cab 4x4 with the v6, I drove it for 5 years put 220,000 miles on it and like the previous one, other then oil changes it never had a issue or breakdown, I could turn the key and go anywhere without worry, In 2022,I decided on a new pickup again, I looked at what was out there and was offered a good deal on a tacoma 4x4 so ended up buying a tacoma , I have owned it for going on 3 years now and it's been just as reliable as my Nissan frontiers with no issues, I feel like the toyota has a little better suspension overall, and interior is just a little nicer overall, but between the 2 vehicles I feel the frontier is the winner in a price and value comparison. In the future when I buy another new truck in 2 years, I will probably jump back to a Nissan frontier pro 4x and don't feel you can go wrong with either truck.
Our God Daughter just bought an off lease '23 Pro 4X with 8K miles. I will say she is one happy camper with that little truck. She's so happy with it she has me considering one for my next truck. That may not be very long as my Ram 1500 seems to get bigger while parking lots seem to get smaller. Love my old truck, but it's like trying to get a Big Rig into the local coffee shops parking lot.😀
I traded my 2017 Tacoma Sr 4cyl 5 speed manual for aq 2024 Frontier SV pro. I absolutely love the power features and comfort. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, climate control, adaptive cruise control. and it is quiet. Feels solid heavy and while the MPG is less its a good trade off for the power and comfort. On a road trip I got 25+ MPG on the road. In the city 16 + mpg. But over all I am very happy with this Truck. And I can pull 6000+ lbs. Handles great and for what I want to do beats Toyota hands down for the price.
I own a 2023 Pro-4X and had a few minor mechanical issues that were resolved for the most part at first but I must say the truck has been solid overall the one year I've had it. There are a few quirks that I had to get used to but I can't say it's a bad truck at all. Like you said, people suck these days and compalin about the smallest of issues and never give praise when it's resolved. I hope to enjoy this truck for many years to come.
An excellent review! If I was in the market to buy a new mid size truck, it would be the '24 Frontier. It's a shame what Toyota leadership has done to the 4th Gen Tacoma and the '22-'24 Tundra. I have a '12 Tacoma Off-road and will have it for many many years.
Awesome video and great reviews on vehicles! Have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 crewcab with just over 90k miles. Will try to keep it as long as I can and will be purchasing a Hardbody Edition Frontier when the time comes if Nissan still builds it. Grew up in the 80's and love the Hardbody trucks of that decade. Thanks for sharing!
Traded in my 2019 TRD Offroad Tacoma for a Pro4x two weeks ago. The Tacoma shifting was horrible and it couldn't get out of its way. The Frontier feels so much better. V6 is the way to go. At 500 miles and a big thumbs up. 👍
I was at the boat landing today and a gentleman was towing his huge pontoon boat with the new Frontier. He says it tows it just fine. The boat was bigger than the truck lol
I just bought a 2015 pro4X frontier 4.0L V6 with 72,xxx mile, all original in very good to mint condition for far less money than these Tacoma’s and tundras and this truck is a tank. It feels heavy and tough. While still giving me decent gas mileage. I love this truck. Nothing fancy at all. All function. Finally a truck that walks the talk. I am now a Nissan fan and possibly will be trading this one in in near future for a newer one if they end up being good trucks for the newer ones. But I feel much better driving the 2011-2019 versions. The reliability is insane. Thanks Nissan!
Im due for an upgrade in a couple of years. Will retire my oldest 14 year old Ridgeline, keep my 3 year old Ridgeline and then replace the oldest with a frontier. It's the most "truck" I'll ever need.
Nissan Frontiers are great trucks. And this, coming from a 2nd Gen Tundra 5.7L owner. Nissan knows V6's for the most part. I still have a 1991 Nissan V6 in my Z32.
I’m leaning toward a pro 4x within the next year myself. I haven’t had a Nissan truck in over 10 years but I’ve never had an issue with any Nissan I’ve owned, all were rock solid.
Toyota made a mistake when they discontinued the V6 Tacoma in 2024. The new 2.4L turbo gets the same gas mileage as the V6 and Toyota significantly bumped up the base price of the 2024 model. Frontier is looking like a better option now.
Thanks, I bought a Frontier midnight editiion. I tested the tacoma at the dealership and it sounded like a rubber band engine on take off, The Frontier felt like a real truck.
I just hit 60,000 on my 22 frontier pro 4x and besides oil changes and filters etc. The truck has been flawless. Finally replaced brakes at 60,000 even though they still had at least another 10k to go. Still on the stock hankook dynapro tires. They just hit the wear bars. Amazing truck. My 2017 tacoma and my 2010 tundra were absolute nightmares.
I've been a Toyota fan boy since high school with a first gen. Very popular in Hawaii. Got to drive around a Hilux in Pakistan & Afghanistan. Not a fan of the new Tacoma. I've noticed the Frontier is getting popular. Especially when the aftermarket gets a hold of them. Like the informative content. Keep it up.
With due respect, I have owned trucks for years. I don't recall ever seeing tie down in the center/ frint of the bed, as you mentioned. It's a good idea to have a tie down strategically place in the front of the bed.
@germanjimenez5968 just made a video about all the trucks taht do have front low tie downs (most do). The thumbnail of the video shows a red chevy and says "this one does it right". Was about 10 or 15 videos back on my channel
I am currently looking at buying a midsize truck as I have outlived my Silverado. Sold my 10 acres in the woods and have a home on a half acre. Having driven two used Frontiers and two used Colorados, I am leaning Nissan. All are two year old trucks and lease returns. Both all four trucks drive like new vehicles. As of this post, I am leaning towards the Nissans. All are in the$28,000 to $32000 price range. The Nissans have stiff steering and feel like the accelerators are very touchy with good acceleration. The tight steering is not an issue, just a noticeable difference. The Colorados were just plain nice. Since I don’t plan on 4x4 trips into the woods, I am not concerned with horsepower. I just needs truck that will last me about 15+ years.
Love how you are diving deep into your options and taking real world use into the equation. My opinion if you are planning a 15 year truck is the frontier. It's a low output naturally aspirated v6 that doesn't have to work hard, will last hundreds of thousands of miles with maintenance and thos maintenance costs are very low. Colorado is a great truck too. And I'd buy the colorado over the frontier. But I would not want to own the colorado with 200k miles on it with the tech and the turbo 4.
I owned a 17 Nissan frontier with the 4.0 and it was always a great truck. The new one really is just a direct injected version with a 9 speed auto. The layout of the engine and even the way the air intake is shaped is almost identical to the 4 liter. The main complaint I see is that its "To old" or "to boring". People were saying the same thing about the last tacoma. Got a 23 tacoma to get the v6 before it went away.
That VQ40D was absolutely stellar, on par with the Toyota 1GR-FE V6. The VQ38DD is very similar to the VQ40. The 2024 Tacoma #1 complaint is transmission failure. Yikes!
Just bought a White 2024 SL 4x4 with leather after researching all of the competition. I needed the 6' box. I did not like the 4 cyl., turbo motor on the Taco, plus the tranny problems that are evident. Price, exterior and interior style, reviews, comfort, drivability and the people at the dealership are what got me out of my Toyota. The box is not made out of tin foil. I can see over the hood. I am stoked, it feels like a truck.
I bought a 2023 used one a couple days ago and it’s beeen nice to me so far, the only thing I got it’s that a bushing or something in the suspension it’s making noises but that falls into the dealer who sold it to me for not inspecting the vehicle, now I have to take it to a dealer near my house to inspect what it is
I was a Toyota fan for more than 20 years and owned Tacoma and Tundra until this year. My 2007 Tundra SR5 access cab was still running well but now that I am 75 years old I wanted more safety such as lane assist etc. I also wanted a truck my Wife would be comfortable driving and the Tundra was too big for her. I drove all the mid-size trucks including the Frontier and it was OK but the steering was very heavy and it didn't "wow" us at all. I bought a Honda Ridgeline Black Edition because my Wife and I did get the "wow" we wanted with safety and comfort. We don't really need a truck’s truck at our age. I never thought I would want a mid-size and definitely a Honda Ridgeline but perspectives change as you get older.
Congrats on your new Ridgeline! and for a truck thats used like a Ridgeline is, there is nothing better. More room, great reliability, awesome tailgate, great bed storage, and excellent ride
In my travels on my motorcycles I have run into a few guys at gas stations driving Nissan Frontiers with high mileage. They always tell me that they had to do nothing but maintenance and consumables. Hopefully the new Frontiers are just as reliable.
The new Nissan frontiers are great trucks. I’ve test driven every new model midsize truck and I have to say the Nissan frontier is the best value and bang for your buck especially the pro 4X take a good look at the 2025 frontier it’s got a lot of upgrades and it’s still got that great engine that doesn’t break
@alisonjimmy the frontier is an easy one to get the good deals on! They want to move them and get the sales numbers up. And what a lucky 15 year old to get a new frontier!
I have a 2019 Frontier Pro4x…83,000 miles and zero issues! I was a Toyota guy all my life and fully expected to buy a Tacoma when I was shopping for a new truck after selling my Camry that I had been driving for 21 years ( still running BTW). Then I drove one and was completely underwhelmed. I test drove the Nissan and bought it. Better ride quality, tons more power, drives like a truck!
Make a King Cab in the Pro 4x trim available in the U.S. and not just Canada and I'd get one. I don't want to have to pay a Canadian broker and the extra transfer fees to get something so simple to make available here!
you could just get a pro 4X axle from a yard and have it installed . I'm sure it's just a 12-volt relay and switch to control it. you can also buy the electronic locking differential itself and have it installed into your axle. I suspect both those options would be less expensive than trying to get one from Canada. Yes, I too would be in the market if they had a pro 4X extended cab without the hassles.
@spyder000069 Good point and I am considering getting an SV 4X4 King Cab and looking into aftermarket lockers . But it sure would be nice not to aftermarket all the other goodies a Pro4x comes with like the 360 degree cams and the LED lights. And then, having to void the warranty due to modding is a pain. That being said, your suggestion would be the only viable one, so good point. 👍
@@raymondabella4684 The cameras in the frontier are not known for their quality so unless you actually will offroad it then maybe not a huge loss. Led lights are easy enough to install. The only other option that fits the bill is to get a previous gen ranger. They still had them in 6ft beds and with option electronic locker. Its 2.3 is known to be reliable even though its a turbo, better camera, better infotainment system in my opinion, and you can buy a ford extended warranty online typically for less than $2k that extends out to 7 years from the date of manufacture. So is you had a 2022-23 thats still a pretty good margin. Can find those in more luxury trims like xlt /lariat I believe and since a year or two old you don't get hit with the immediate depreciation. Something to consider.
I wanted to trade my Toyota Camry TRD V6 for SV Nissan Frontier 2023 but I read some reviews about transmission issues so I'm not sure about purchasing one but I do love everything about this truck.
I bought the 2023 Nissan frontier sv crew can 6ft bed 4x4, I like my truck a lot I had one issue with the electrical Nissan fixed it. My biggest complaint is the turning radius because of the long bed wish I realized that I would’ve gone with the short bed. But all in all out of 5 stars I’d give it a 4.5, it’s got good power in the lower speeds sometimes it has a hard time finding what gear it wants and sometimes it jerks but it’s not all the time and also that’s what you get with 9 gears no biggy. The cruise control is a little weird it will go to like 6000 rpm’s to get the speed you want but again nothing you can do about it. I love the power it has and I’ve been hauling dirt and pellets with it just wish it had a higher payload like 1600 mine is about 1200lbs. I like my truck and I wouldn’t trade it for these 4 banger turbo trucks. Natural aspirating trucks is the way to go, less maintenance been proven and more reliable. I wish nissan kept there titans maybe they will bring them back seeing how well the frontiers are doing.
I’ve been driving exclusively Toyota since 1986. I’m not crazy about their recent business practices including insane dealer markups, and lack of availability. Not to mention the turbo charged motors. I’m pretty sure my next truck will be a frontier. I drove one and absolutely love the hydraulic steering over electric steering. Sometimes, simpler is better.
the Last Frontier had the utilitracks on the bed floor for tying down. looks like the holes and grooves are till there. looks like you could add your own.
I read reviews where people gave it like two stars out of five because the package showed up late or maybe the package was a little scuffed up who does that
I traded my old 20 pro 4x for my Lunar rock 23 trd OR 4x4 that I have since installed a king/camburg suspension setup, sitting on 35s. Best decision I ever made when it comes to these trucks. Out in the trails, the Nissan struggles in tight turn areas and it was even worse with 34s and a mild lift. Scary, and I was always slowing everyone else down. Had to be wichned on some tight turns a couple of times, just turns 🤦🏾♂️. The interior was like whatever, just like most trucks in this segment, but come on! I carry a fridge for longer offroad trips, a yeti cooler if it's for some hours or a couple of days and some gear in the back seat area by folding the rear seat backs down. Who the heck thought it was a good idea to put soft fabric back there in the back of the rear seat backs on the Nissan?! As soon as we went on our first offroad trip and loaded up, I got home and found multiple tears all over the seat backs. Come on Nissan! That's not the case with my Taco which all come with hard thick plastic material covering the entire seat back rest rears so you can load up whatever. Needles to say, the Taco is just a better truck overall. That being said, I'm not a fan of the new 4th gen Tacomas. The kinks really need to be worked out, but anything turbo 4 on any truck I'm not a fan of. Unfortunately, all automakers are headed in the same direction due to emission restrictions.
I've got 2000 Frontier 180,000 miles on it & driving great. Regular maintenance etc. etc. All vehicles have issues some more than others. Toyotas are good trucks as well. The only reason I went with the 2024 Frontier Pro 4X was the 24 years of reliability I've gotten with my 2000. Whatever truck anyone decides to get just remember they're all going to have quirks.
Let me first say that I love my '23 Pro 4X. But does anyone else have low gear shifting issues? The awkward shifting in the lower gears at speeds of approximately 5mph - 25mph drives me batty. It bucks, like it has no idea what gear it should be in. Highway driving at higher speeds and in higher gears it shifts perfectly smoothly. One other issue that I'm experiencing is a "squeak" noise that occurs from somewhere in the rear (as best I can tell) when making a turn from a stop sign or a red light.
Hey Sam, I would get a new Frontier for NA 6 even though I'm not a big fan of the hood/bonnet design. The prices are the most competitive in the industry. My actual first choice in a mid size would be the Ranger even though I'd be concerned about the eco boost engine after higher miles. I've rented a new Ranger and loved it. It's all about frequent synthetic oil changes on those turbos. And not abusing the engine. I've rented previous generation Tacos and Colorados and they were great. Not too hot on the new Tacos or GM/Chevys. I picked up a '23 Titan Pro 4X in September and here's my report: Alignment right off the bat to center the steering wheel, dealership threw it on the rack and it's perfect. Non safety recall on the transfer case actuator. Auto tailgate actuator replaced 8 months in, a known issue, part in stock, fixed the same day. Radio head LCD permanent imprints from my finger after 6 months, replaced after the part came in 3 weeks. So I put a glass screen protector on the new LCD head unit. Never happened with my F-150s. I hear a very slight whine from the 9 speed at low speed, but then I hear everything, whereas my wife wears 2 hearing aids and doesn't. I haven't experienced the hesitation to shift from 2nd to 3rd that some have. My '18 FX4 had this rarely when cold with it's 10 speed. Otherwise the engine is great, I use premium, smoother and more power. 18.5 mpg combined. Truck very quiet, no squeaks, rattles or funny noises. It's very solid and I like the heavier hydraulic power steering. The body build quality fit and finish is excellent. The interior is beautiful. So far so good, I like it. My Nissan service department is great, which is a huge plus. It came with great heavy AT General tires as well, vs cheaper passenger Goodyear Wranglers on many F-150s. My '18 FX4 did have the LT truck tire package, so that was better. The paint seems a little thinner than my Fords, and I've noticed that on many older Nissans clear coats peel especially when they are in the sun all the time. I keep mine clean and polished with polymer polish and in the garage so that helps a lot. An oil change tire rotation at my dealership is a hundred bucks. And transmission service is 700. But if that what it takes for the 5 year/100,000 mile warranty, I'm in. Mine only has 7,000 miles on it anyway. It's a semi garage queen unless I roll the TT for an occasional camp out. Been RVing coast to coast many times so I got the long distance traveling out of my blood long ago. I love staying home more now. Thanks.
2006 frontier king cab 2WD 6 foot bed 4.0 automatic 130,000 miles bought new strictly street truck changed oil every 5000 miles. Broke bushing on shift lever under console, carrier Bering and front u joint , bad electrical connection on circuitboard in main fuse box under hood, 1 coil pack . I still own and drive the truck daily and would buy another. I think I paid $18,000 for it new.
Jason, perhaps you do not lifve in snow country? If that is the case, then I suppose the concept of having the window wash only activate without the wipers is a possible negative for some. Where snow and ice prevail, the ability to stream Winter Washer Fluid against the ice and/or snow without strain on the wiper motor and degrading the wiper blades is a blessing. I find it helpful in other seasons to, where I drench the window first, then wipe. That is a fine line since its not always easy to judge while in forward motion, what dries out before activating the wipers but sometimes it is a win to wash-drench first, followed quickly by wiper activation. But here's a real biggy in times when the spring and summer bugs have won the war on the windshield. You stop for fueling, hoping that you can work some magic at the filling station with their container of wash solution and their squeegee/sponger tool. Except someone stole the tool, or it's too worn out. and the washer fluid is just water, or nothing at all. Happens all too often. Really a bugger (sort of a pun there) with a vertical JEEP windshield or those that like to jack their pickup height into the heavens, but can't reach the windshield even with the long handle "tool". Could be the service station employees have to work their cell phones inside the store, rather than be helpful to customers, who do all they work guys like me used to do when a Fuel station used to be a Service Station. (sigh). This is my Old Fart, good old days (wasn't always the best either) creeping into my head space. Ok. so what about the trailer hitch tucked under the rear rear factory bumper, or was that in someone else's video? Anyway, without running this video again, I'll just comment on this point; Yes.... It's not quite as ideal but I suppose my stingers haven't found this to be a problem. Except I would rather have the mouth of the hitch, either flush with or just a hair beyond the otherwise, decent bumper surface. It could be NISSAN found that the extra distance that would be more-favorable, might have tweaked the trailer towed weight, and/or the usual 10% of towed weight at the hitch point, in a negative-capacity direction. I haven't found anything to nail this down from my armchair. So just a guess. That said, I totally agree that Its nice to have the hitch a bit exposed, where inserting the hitch pin can be done standing up or a squat. Instead of on the burning hot (of course) pavement. Or dirt, rain or snow covered surface. I can see one advantage of the tucked under hitch where even snakes might be taking advantage of the shade. Personal experience here. A rattler. Who rattled. And I let him alone. I can't remember how I got around this adrenyln rush except I didn't get tagged by this snake in Idaho where I had parked my car to go fishing for the day at Island Park Reservoir. I can't decide whether this Hello Snake event or a run-in with a particular motorcycle gang were the most memorable moments on this fishing trip. Do I even own a Frontier, to make these comments? Well, no. But working (scrutinizing) on a new Frontier SV, 4x4 King Cab to replace my RAM V10 3/4 ton. I'm old now. Sold (literally) the farm. I just have 14, roughly 100 yr old walnut trees on 1 acre now to deal with every August through October to gather walnuts. 6 ft bed on the King Cab suits me find. Decent normally aspirated V6 instead of a turbo'd 4 cylinder which do have great numbers. But I am not personally sold on heating up an engine bay with turbo'd 4 cylinder working hard, in today's hotter typical days, going uphill on some fairly good slopes. For now, I'll stick with normally aspiration, divided across 6 happy cylinders at lower RPM's. A FORD Ranger or pick another choice in mid-size do have some added modern features. Nice, except I want to start it, drive it, air condition or heat it, and thats about it. What all of us really do on most every drive if your not a stop and go freeway or highway commuter where the additional bells and whisltles may keep you from dozing off into an accident. I get these are great advances but I want to pay less for less, with a rear center differential I control. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Old Fart's unite! Or just me. I'll stop now. sorry about the Novel. Good review Jason. It is helping me. I'm biding my time for a lower interest rate before I order an SV 4WD ong bed because otherwise, my old truck is fine. If I ignore its horrid mileage but holy cow is the V10 smooth and a master at towing heavy loads up the grades, that I no longer do... Around town, the engine and the tall diff gearing makes it seem almost pokey, and really consumes the fuel. But stick a load behind it - startling difference, as it was engineered for.
I think you missunderstood me or I mis spoke about the windshield fluid. I WANT a sprayer that will spray and not start the wipers. I WANT the option to spray and let it soak. I live in south ga now but rest of my life was northern michigan. Loved being able to spray and let it melt ice before kicking in the wipers. same down here. Love to spray and let it soak into bug guts. The sv frontier sure is a great and simple truck.
They changed to direct injection in 2020. I dont see anyone talk about it. Other manufacturers have like ford and toyota, implement port injection in conjuction with direct injection to clean up carbon buildup. I'm not a mechanic, so I don't t know how concerning it is regarding the longevity of the engine. Maybe they will not last as long as long as the pre 2020's.
I have 2 Nissans. 2018 Frontier Desert Runner w 80k miles and a 2015 Xterra Pro4X w/ 136k miles. The only issue i have had with either vehicle is very thin paint. We might trade in the 2018 for a 2025 frontier because of the engine and 9sp trans, but im never getting rid of the Xterra
I heard they are bringing back the xterra and it's gonna be a true offroader. Atleast that's what nissan rep said. I'm excited to see what they do. Loved the old ones!
I'm a very data-focused person and have spent hours researching this truck, and you summed it up in 17 minutes. I really enjoy and appreciated this review style!
@@gentry5656 thanks. Glad you enjoyed it
I concur! I research vehicles ad nauseam. This was easy, and it was objective.
@baracktrump1410 very well said and agree 100
@Holden-McGroin that is very true. A turbo let's the motor make it's power lower in the Rev range
@jeanclaude7018 you are correct turbos are harder on motors.

Agreed. Toyota lost me with their prices and 4 cylinder Tacoma
I bought a Pro-4X 6 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It’s quieter than most cars and has excellent driving manners. I also chose this truck because it’s the last V6 mid size truck. Got it for 4k below sticker and 3.9 APR.
Very nice
It's not the last n/a V6 midsize. Not yet...

@DanDelzell good news about the plastic hinge is it won't rust. And if it breaks probably cheap to replace
@icosthop9998 agree 100%. Seems frontier offers what the toyota die hards were looking for now.
I am. I’m not even looking at the new Tacoma’s after my 2nd Gen ‘07 Tacoma gets to old.

You did excellent! And it will serve you very well
Nissan Frontier is reliable.
@chibbyylol I bet by the end of 2024 when the year total sales come out frontier will have sold more than the tacoma

@shannoncasper8670 glad you are loving your frontier! Agree wish more manuals were offered too!
I am seeing more of the Pro-4x with the Technology package and the Pro Convenience package which is what you wanted and I'm most interested in. That's everything with cloth and no sunroof.

Agree on all points
That VQ40D was absolutely stellar, on par with the Toyota 1GR-FE V6. The VQ38DD is very similar to the VQ40. The 2024 Tacoma #1 complaint is transmission failure. Yikes!
I got a. 2016 sv v6 rear wheel drive auto trans 60,000 miles , its been rock solid so far nothing but drain and fill on fluids
Outstanding
Got my 24 pro 4x in early April, 2k miles later no problems
@@julianjimenez8511 outstanding
I like the basic look and engine that you don't see anymore. I'm seriously considering it.
It's a great truck at a great price
Awesome video. I'm looking for a truck soon. 1 choice for now will be this Frontier. Thank you for the time you took to show this type of video's.
@@josephcea6353 glad you enjoyed it
Just bought a White 2024 SL 4x4 with leather after researching all of the competition.
@@verne5770 congratulations on a great truck
I bought a 2023 used one a couple days ago and it’s beeen nice to me so far, the only thing I got it’s that a bushing or something in the suspension it’s making noises but that falls into the dealer who sold it to me for not inspecting the vehicle, now I have to take it to a dealer near my house to inspect what it is
Great truck. Congratulations
28,000 miles on a 23 Pro 4x and I love it. Only issue i have is the aggressive cruise control👍🏻
There is a tech bulletin that covers the cruise control problem. Your dealer can reprogram it and it fixes it 100%.
glad you are loving it
I was a Toyota fan for more than 20 years and owned Tacoma and Tundra until this year.
Love my 2024 pro 4x. Smooth, quite ride. Will see how it does with Vermont winters.
You ate gonna love it
In my travels on my motorcycles I have run into a few guys at gas stations driving Nissan Frontiers with high mileage. They always tell me that they had to do nothing but maintenance and consumables.
Hopefully the new Frontiers are just as reliable.
So far they are proving rock solid
@@Jason-Samko That’s great to hear. 👍
Great truck!! Nissan should at least put a lift and bigger tires on the Pro-4X trim. Ive only heard great things.
would be great with a 1 or 2 inch lift and 33s stock
I bought a new one this year and love it !
Congratulations on a great truck
Man I’m glad I got the 2024 Nissan Frontier (SV 6’Bed ) I love it…
Such a great truck
The new Nissan frontiers are great trucks. I’ve test driven every new model midsize truck and I have to say the Nissan frontier is the best value and bang for your buck especially the pro 4X take a good look at the 2025 frontier it’s got a lot of upgrades and it’s still got that great engine that doesn’t break
sure is a great truck
When my son turns 15 I'm massaging you for the nissan frontier buying advice. 🤙
@alisonjimmy the frontier is an easy one to get the good deals on! They want to move them and get the sales numbers up. And what a lucky 15 year old to get a new frontier!
15:53 What did you call my truck?! 😂
I’d buy this over the 2024 Tacoma
@@appleztooranges me too
I have a 2019 Frontier Pro4x…83,000 miles and zero issues!
Glad you are loving the frontier
Make a King Cab in the Pro 4x trim available in the U.S. and not just Canada and I'd get one. I don't want to have to pay a Canadian broker and the extra transfer fees to get something so simple to make available here!
@raymondabella4684 agree no reason we can't have it here
you could just get a pro 4X axle from a yard and have it installed .
@@spyder000069 great points
Love my 2024 Frontier. I agree with you. Solid overall truck
@@MarioNudo-s6z congratulations on a great truck
I wanted to trade my Toyota Camry TRD V6 for SV Nissan Frontier 2023 but I read some reviews about transmission issues so I'm not sure about purchasing one but I do love everything about this truck.
I have not heard of any official issues with the trans.
Totally agree about CR. Great review, really enjoying your channel.
Thank you
I bought the 2023 Nissan frontier sv crew can 6ft bed 4x4, I like my truck a lot I had one issue with the electrical Nissan fixed it.
Glad you are loving it. Frontiers are fantastic
@@BigHouse907 agree on all points
the Last Frontier had the utilitracks on the bed floor for tying down. looks like the holes and grooves are till there. looks like you could add your own.
@@nboothful very good Info. Thank you. I would for sure add those immediately
I read reviews where people gave it like two stars out of five because the package showed up late or maybe the package was a little scuffed up who does that
Yep consumer reports are people based. And in general, most people suck😂
I have a P4X and it’s a great truck! Go get you one!
Sure is a great truck

Well said
Let me first say that I love my '23 Pro 4X.
Hey Sam,
I would get a new Frontier for NA 6 even though I'm not a big fan of the hood/bonnet design.
Thanks.

Broke bushing on shift lever under console, carrier Bering and front u joint , bad electrical connection on circuitboard in main fuse box under hood, 1 coil pack . I still own and drive the truck daily and would buy another. I think I paid $18,000 for it new.
Glad you are loving yours! Such great trucks.
Only thing holding me back about these frontiers is the reputation of their transmissions
You made my decision for me. I am buying one
Test drive and make sure it's right for you. But I bet you will love it
They changed to direct injection in 2020.
I trust the engineers. If they went to straight up di they did it for a reason. So I don't worry about it much.
I had a 2010 Xterra, loved that vehicle.
