I'm a minimalist kind of guy. The lack of gaudy colors and stitching is one of my top likes, not dislikes. That's why I like the leather interior. If you get the cloth seats in the Pro 4X it comes with red stitching and red highlights in the doors of the truck. I drove one and the seat height is fine for 5'11". I like a mid-size truck because they are so much better off road than a full size. They also fit in my garage.

Amen to the garage. I have gone through too many vehicles. I sold off my Tacoma because I took it to a speed shop and they put RV tires on it that pretty much ruined it. I left it to the experience of the sales department to choose the size, not knowing how destructive oversized wheels and tires could be. I went from the Tacoma to an F150 with a V8 plus a lot of bells and whistles, but when I closed the garage door there wasn't much more than a couple inches to spare on either end. The 2019 Frontier literally gave me over a foot clearance. I am a minimalist too, but I missed the GPS feature from the F150, and the '19 Frontier was not equipped to handle any electronic accessories, but it was still a great truck. Myu problem, being in a West Texas town has always been selection. I took my '19 last week for its routine service and they just brought in two red( I call it candy apple red) '22 Frontier King Cab SV's. One was a 4x4, now it is in my garage. It is so seldom you see a vehicle in an attractive color, and it was a king cab as well, that I jumped on it. I have to say, that 9 speed Mercedes inspired transmission is another story completely. At first it felt weird, but I have to get into traffic quick during certain times of day because of the rush. I got on it with that 9 speed and it is very smooth. The '19 worked a whole lot hard and was slightly slower. That '22 felt like it was just gliding, no jerking.. I am sort of a minimalist. My first truck was a King Cab XE V6 back in '87, it was known as a "Nissan Hard Body" back then. I think you have to be a bit of a minimalist to go for the smaller Nissan. Back in '07, I ended up with a Tacoma because Toyota was having problems moving vehicles over the scandal with the sticking accelerator pedal, which they repaired in time, so they gave me terms. I would have preferred the Nissan which I test drove first. The local Nissan dealer where I was at the time would not talk terms. The Tacoma gave me 8 good years, except for the dealer installed remote starter which ate three batteries.

6’3 all torso and I fit fine in mine. I prefer all blacked out interior. Colors don’t age well. Seems like something a young adult would prefer though and I get it. I have had my 2022 sv for a xouple months now and i have found it to be quite capable. I am averaging 21-22 mpg very consistently. And find it is not lacking in the power dept. Good rig for under 39k and comfortable to drive. The only thing that i was suprised was how heavy the steering felt at first. I'm a little disappointed in your dislike #3. As a "truck guy" you should know that tires don't go straight up and down. They tilt as they articulate. The stock tires don't rub the fender trim when flexing. TFL did an off road review showing it articulating. Putting larger tires on this truck would probably require a lift though.

If youre going to be putting larger tires then you should know that it will impact the rest of the truck in many ways and likely should expect to do modifications as needed, like a lift kit, and even differential gears at some point.

I don’t really think that’s true anymore. I drove full size trucks in urban environments for years and never had any issue, especially with the newer ones. I won’t argue a mid size isn’t easier, but there’s no issues driving and parking a half ton in a city. You might just need more seat time in one.

I’m a 6-month Pro-4x owner. My likes are the ride, Fender stereo, there’s not 6 million on the road, low end torque, styling, simplicity. The bad are cruise control. It’s super poorly calibrated, hits 5500rpm to gain 4 mph or even on a slight incline. The leather. Don’t bother getting it. It’s 95% rubbery vinyl with tiny butt and lower back patches. It’s sticky when it’s hot, and there is no cooling feature. The defrost is LOUD on anything but the lowest two settings. The seat may work well for some, but it’s “front hinged”, meaning it does NOT rise at the front when you try to raise the seat, only the back. If it doesn’t provide enough thigh support if you have long calves when you test drive it, it never will. The back of my 2019 Tacoma had more room in the back, and had a less upright seating position. Otherwise super nice truck……

Some would say a non-turbo engine is preferred, especially for towing. Other brands use turbos, which are "on" constantly during towing, creating mucho wear which likely means replacements ere long. My only dislike is the GDI engine, which will require a major job to clean the carbon off the valves. Toyota has the better engine, DPI. But Toyota seats are terrible for taller people. pros and cons. Wish Nissan had a DPI engine and a larger fuel tank.

Well, it is best to look at all the midsize trucks in person at all these things before you buy. The Ford Ranger has a 4 cylinder so it should have better milage, as for fancy interior details this is a truck not a BMW . My brother bought this Nissan Frontier crew cab in blue and is picking it up this week April 2022. We both took a test drive in it and looked it over and we see no problems it is just a good all around truck. The hydraulic steering is great old school and more reliable than electronic glad to see Nissan put that in the engine. For what we need this truck will do the job just fine and will be better off road trails in narrow tight spots unlike full size trucks here in Colorado. We do not need a full size truck harder to park in spaces and just too big the midsize are just right and this Nissan was the pick over the other makers for price and features.

Well, take off your hat might help to get in better. I have 2022 PRO4X without leather option package and it comes with orange stitching /accent thru-out the cabin looks much better and fancier beside there is no ventilated seat option for leather which it gets fry pan hot in Summer time.
I love my new Frontier and I call it the best all around truck and I have seen off road comparison between Tocoma vs Frontier ...they were neck and neck...well, Tocoma was a little better on the front approaching angle but who takes brand new truck to the rock climbing, I wouldn't.
On the Pay-Load testing, truck bed went down only an inch (can't remember it was 500 lbs or 1,000 lbs) and the result was better than all mid size and some of full size truck.
    Highly recommendable.
Make sure you get the bed extender and sport roll bar (2 1/2 inches thickness) for added safety.

As for ruber with a pro package, worse than weathertech and that is bad. Slippery when dry can only imaging when wet (weathertech are slippery when wet). My advice is winter, use Husky.) Brightness ok. Seat adjustment you should check before buying. I can say 6'2, proportional body it is a-ok for me. Hood...yes, that could use and extra six inches; need helmet if working on it. Smaller engine moving heavy truck vs. truck not that much heavier with larger engine. Do the math, MPG will be close

Bought a new King Cab SV 4x4 this past week. Already getting 23 MPG around town. You forgot to mention that Nissan got rid of the gutless 4 cylinder engine. They put the 6 in all their Frontiers now. I owned and drove a 2007 Tacoma 4x4 King Cab for 8 years, there are no doubt some improvements like the Mercedes inspired 9 speed transmission. Otherwise driving a Frontier is so similar to a Tacoma, I almost couldn't tell the difference. You road tested a Pro 4X, it obviously has more bells and whistles for Off Road use. I traded a 2019 Frontier SV 4x4 in for the 2022 with the same package, and the first thing I noticed was ground clearance. The 2022 seemed to have quite a bit more ground clearance. I am having the rails installed to help a little. I had the rails on the 2019, but did not need them,. The rails were a cosmetic upgrade on the 2019, on the 2022 for a shorter person they are necessary. You also forgot to mention that Nissan has done away with the chrome. The only thing that appears to be chrome are the fake chrome cheesy looking factory wheels that come on the SV. In the 2019 the electronics package was way behind the times. The electronics in the 2022 are a vast improvement. I don't know why you think the tires will rub on the back, unless you made it happen. The suspension, even on the SV, is very stiff.

They always have a stupid technology package but no hitch to tow, I would think most people want a hitch for towing so most dealers would order that ,even before any other option, so now I am going to try and order one and see if I can get one the way I want for 2023

Once you take the rebates in to account it was 1 grand less the the Colorado? Fuel mileage is about 1.5 mpg on average more in the full size truck? The only thing I miss with the Colorado is the easy of parking, turning radius other than that the full size truck is so much better.

At least 400 horsepower and 500 ft lbs of torque or maybe more as an option. Heard Toyota will end up adding more horsepower and torque to the tundra as well. That would be badass to have that much power in a light 4wd Tacoma.

The Frontier will have zero issues also. The Tacoma isn't perfect (Camry engine and poorly programmed transmission). The Tacoma is far superior though in it's available configurations. "Building" a Frontier on the Nissan USA website is pretty sad. Very few options, and anything with a 6.5' bed has the lowest options, it's ridiculous. For that alone, I'd put the Tacoma above the Frontier. Oddly, Canada gets much better options for the Frontier.

I can see your opinion on this truck and respect it. Unfortunately I'm looking at 3 trucks right now. This one, Ford Ranger XLT and Chevy Coloardo. For the options that I'm looking for with the Frontier SV trim with technology and convience package for Nissan's price, I would have to go to a Ranger 302a package which would put me in a fx package or bump me to Lariat. Don't need 4wd and I'm in Florida....no leather....lol. I am also not sold on the Chevy Coloardo as a reliable truck as well. Number four: had to take the truck in because the brake cable was too tight and had to be adjusted the tension would cause the E brake light to stay on sometimes, and burn the brakes. 5: and the most recent, The check engine light came on indicating that something was wrong with the stabili-track track the stability track controls the throttle body, electrical components, and the fuel system. The truck sputtered and I told funny throughout the day for probably 24 hours I let it sit overnight and the next day it was fine The technicians found the code but couldn’t find the source of the malfunction so they told me it would happen again and when it did to bring it back in. I’m in the process now of dealing with GM to have them either replace the truck altogether with a different model or a refund but I’m not holding my breath it took them 2 to 3 weeks just to return my phone call do yourself a favor and stay away from GM. @@jimstorm1622 I just traded in my 2018 Z71 Colorado (bought new) for the new Frontier SV 4x4 with all packages. Been a Chevy Guy all my life (I'm 62) and I loved my Colorado. Why did I trade it in? Because about two months ago the torque converter started going bad for the second time. This is a known issue for the Colorado. Instead of Chevy correcting the problem, they just repair it. I still had 10 months warranty left, but, what happens when it does it again in another 2 years? That's a repair that comes out of my pocket. I originally wanted a Tacoma, but, after test driving the Frontier, it was a no brainer for me, the Frontier in my humble opinion beats out both the Tacoma and Colorado. Yes, the steering is a bit heavy, but not that bad. Many young people don't know what vehicles with no power steering was like.....lol. The seats in the Frontier are truly amazing. I broke my back in a motorcycle accident in 99 and I also have three herniated discs in my lower back. These seats are better than any I have ever sat in. BTW, I'm 5'10" and I have plenty of headroom. As for the floor mats, I personally didn't think they were cheap. The type of carpet they use actually makes it easier to clean as debris doesn't become trapped as easily as others I have had. And not a real big deal to me as I just received my Weather Tec floor mats today, now those rock. My only complaint is that even with the trailering package it doesn't come with an integrated trailer brake. I feel Nissan really dropped the ball there. I normally don’t make these kinds of comments as it’s always good to highlight flaws in any review, but man, those cons are kind of ridiculous…
Appreciates the competitive pricing, but first con is the carpet floor mats?? Equates lack of interior visual styling (when they have an option with orange accents) to lack of quality? The cabin lighting looks better than usual imo, those buttons and gauges all look highly visible without being obnoxiously bright due to the orange tint. Wheel room at the fender is hardly a factor when articulating at an angle, and anyone putting on tires larger than 33s is going to get a lift.
Want some practical cons for this vehicle, some of which we should push Nissan on?
    - Turning radius genuinely sucks and sucked on prior gen as well, this should have been addressed in the redesign
    - No wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto despite other Nissan vehicles having this in 2022 and the truck having wifi capability, why release a full redesign without this, and why offer a wireless charging pad when you’re going to have to plug in your phone anyway?
    - No integrated trailer brake controller, truck is wired for it but they don’t add it, surely the cost would be negligible, offer it as an option at least
    - Camera resolution on the nice upgraded 360 system is rough for 2022, spend a tiny tiny bit more on cameras to make them sharp, it’s worth it
    - Those nice orange colored interior accents I referenced above should be included on the leather trim package as well, makes no sense that the premium interior looks more bland than the standard, and if you want the good speakers and the moon roof you have to get the leather too
    - AC vents for the rear passengers would have been be very nice, it was not a thing on the 2010s midsized trucks, but willing to bet all the other new gens will have it, my 2011 base model Grand Cherokee has rear vents, I’d appreciate if any high trim 2022 vehicle would have them for the comfort of my rear passengers or dogs

I think sort of which is why I had that pricing section in the video. You can build it up to be comparable with the Tacoma, but you can also strip it down and get it at a lower price point.
I think you could probably find lower trim levels on the lots for cheaper than a Ranger, however, that is when you can actually find trucks on the lot.

Nissan frontiers in the portland area are even more expensive than tacomas.

@@Pickuptrucktalk Of course, you could pay more or less, depending upon how well you equip it. The question is whether a comparably equipped Frontier would cost the same, more or less than a Tacoma or Ranger. The old Frontiers could be had for several thousand dollars less than competitive models, comparably equipped. I wonder whether this is still true. From my recent build on the Nissan web site, a well-equipped SV trim was almost $40K, so I doubt that they have the same price advantage as before. I would still consider a Frontier because of the power train and styling inside and out.

@@warrenbarnes9653 agreed. I haven’t priced them very much, but it seems like they aren’t the value driven choice now.

This is a very sharp truck. I'd love to see the GM twins get a tougher looking exterior like this.

I can’t wait to see what GM does when we do see their redesigns. Also looking forward to the 2.7 turbo engine being on offer.

Looks like they tried to shrink areas and add to others. The front seats for example are narrower. The rear legroom increased but what you gained, you lost in the angle of the seatback position. Its almost vertical
