I’m about to try this in my house. The lady of the house isn’t convinced I can manage it. I consider myself fairly competent but after watching your video I’m eager to get started. Great detailed content - your years of experience are evident. Thank you 👍🏻
Good luck 🤞
You cannot
Love this idea Im redoing my stairs gonna show this to my carpet installer to do this for me.
Very detailed demo Keith, lovely job mate, your gonna end up doing all of us out of work with these videos lol.....only joking..... brilliant job
Lol thanks John 😀😀😀
Watched your videos and was able to install carpet stair treads that look pretty darn good. I used LVP and made some nice wood look risers. Thanks for the tutorial!!
Amazing congratulations
Really good job, and thank you this video
😀👍
Best tutorial! Thank you. This helped me immensely.
You're welcome!
This is a fantastic tutorial. I think I’m ready to try this. I absolutely love this trend. I’m a little intimidated by the cutting but ready to try it.
Amazing
Man such detail explaining thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. We weren’t sure it could be done, so now we need to get an installer that knows how!
😀😀😀
Happiness is a tight carpet. I like how you don't over think the task , and get the same great results. Really did want to see you install that pattern in the thumb nail. Click bait lol
Lol I have that one coming next week
Awesome video, I was looking for another alternative to staining my stair treads, some of the stairs are cut shorter from the wall’s making it unsightly if I was to stain the treads and I also have two landings, one of them have particle board so this will work perfectly, I am a first time weekend warrior so excited to try this. Thanks again!
😀😀😀
Nice work. 👍🏻
Thank you.
Thanks Walt
Tip - with a step overhang lip that large gripper under the step is much neater . Especially with that type of carpet (Berber)
Good tip🤙🤙🤙🤙
Thank you so much for these tutorials. My question has do to with the risers. I purchased a house with carpeted stairs. Can I assume that the riser is MDF. What do people do to make that look better? If I add a piece of wood that is 1/4 in thick, does this drastically reduce the amount of space under the tread for staples? I also could add a 5 mil or 6 mil LVP which is what we are doing the floors with. Next question, we are not doing carpet upstairs. We are doing vinyl since we have dogs. I am thinking that the last step into the loft will not be carpeted or do you have another idea on this? Thank you for your time. And again, I appreciate the tutorial.
You could add a thin piece of wood / but I’m sure you could sand and paint the mdf to look good enough for risers / in that video those risers are just press board with great paint👍👍👍
could you tell me how much the average weekly carpet installer earns at Home Depot thank you!!!!
I’m sorry I have no idea
Quick question. I've seen you do it with and without the side tack strips. What's the difference between the two methods?
It stays tighter and in place with the strips on the outside / especially the bigger or wider the tread👍
Amazing video! Thank you, Keith! Quick question: what carpet padding are you using here? Also, if I don’t have a way to get a kicker, is there other ways of doing this without one? Thanks!
Is pretty tuff to do without a kicker? you can upholster from the top down and hope the sides don't ripple/ pad is 10 mill gold
@@KeithShannonDirectCarpet got it! Pad brand is the Pergo one or just 10 milliliter gold color standard one? I like the one in the video but it looks like a cork board :P
U can rent carpet install tools at homedepo
Is it good trade to make money I had just join the teem and want pick my own jobs in coming time please let me know 😊
Can I see a video with stairs not confined in stair well. Like my bottom 3 stairs are outside the hallway. And they also have spindles in them.
ua-cam.com/video/5rZuAT8XzBg/v-deo.html
I want to do this on my 14 stair condo.
I tore out old carpet that has no nose n risers are less then 90.
On the right side of stairs is a wall w no skirt board. There are big gaps between staircase n wall (some as big as 1/2".)
I put 3/4" skirt board to cover most of the gaps, so what is allowable so that carpet treads fit nice n tight?
Thanks
Picture?
What do you do if you are leaving 4" of wood showing on either side of the tred?
Do you still use a tack strip on the sides and staple down the edges or just staple?
Also are 18g narrow crow Staples ok? That's what my gun uses and I'm wondering if I need a 20g tacker instead?
You won’t use smoothedge on sides at all and not sure about those staples /here is a video that might help ua-cam.com/video/qlFGteqDXFA/v-deo.html
Hi Keith, what is the purpose of smoothedge?
It keeps the carpet tight in certain situations /
Hi, where can I buy carpet tread only ? My stairs is much wider than these.
