    I was taught no move is wasted if I go get a tool I take trash with me if I take something out I bring something back in etc. Every movement is useful

      I wasn’t taught that but learnt it pretty quick especially on commercial jobs with a tonne of stairs to run up and down.
      Up or down empty handed is a cardinal sin.

    • @TrimTuckCarpets
      @TrimTuckCarpets  4 роки тому

      Brian Coakley not sure what you mean being broken. But generally I place a little bit behind it to keep it stable. An no never had an issue of it being broken

    • @IrishEyes84
      @IrishEyes84 4 роки тому +1

      @@TrimTuckCarpets I meant the gripper that you add from from top of noes down, its a good idea, but I couldn't trust my customers to never kick and break it, I may use this tho in the expensive jobs lol

    • @TrimTuckCarpets
      @TrimTuckCarpets  4 роки тому +1

      Brian Coakley never had an issue of customers breaking it because I secure it with a little gripper behind it so it’s secure if you get that I mean. I mean worse case let’s say a odd customer kicks it lol it’ll still function fine and won’t cause any issues because it’ll only merely be snapped. So no worries and it’s been practiced for many many years !!

    Although it looks good its definitely not efficient at all and in this line of work efficiency is everything

    • @TrimTuckCarpets
      @TrimTuckCarpets  5 років тому +5

      Don victory I do understand time is money. But we definitely have to prioritise Quality over time, which I’m not saying you don’t do! But unfortunately many installers have this attitude where it’s “just get it down” and that in result is ruining the trade.
      Once you get the hang of this type of prep work it because easy and the speed just picks up naturally

      I'm a floorlayer. I appreciate that's ur way of doing it and I mean no disrespect but I do it in half the time and the finished product looks the same and I take a lot of pride in my work.

    • @LENTODAWG702
      @LENTODAWG702 5 років тому +1

      holland exactly you can do good work and be fast like I said efficiency is key I've been doing this for almost 9 years no repairs my work is legit but I got taught to work fast maybe that just the way Mexicans or Hispanics work we work fast that's why we get shit done I learned that way

    • @LENTODAWG702
      @LENTODAWG702 5 років тому +1

      Nothinh to do with race but let's be honest we all do work differently stereotypes are true when it comes to labor jobs but there are the few who excell or dont excell whether it be black white brown or yellow we culturally just are raised differently

  • @andrewpatient6459

    I'm lost for words, smashing a £50 hooking on roberts bolster with a hammer when you should be using a straight stair bolster with the rubber malet laying on the landing!!!! and every thing else your describing is so over the top when it's not really necessary. Quick tip every job is different from the last no stairs or room is the same, so don't prep it the same as last because every carpet gives a different finish some worse some better
    Been fitting for 52 years and have seen most of the good and bad insulations on most flooring

    • @nick12586
      @nick12586 4 роки тому

      @Lee Fitchett to you do things slow. I can get the same result with no gripper at all. If I did it this slow I'd be out of business

    • @nick12586
      @nick12586 4 роки тому

      Actually that's how I was first taught except in the states we almost always wrap the nose.. Years ago I learned how to stretch steps drum tight and last a lifetime and I know from years of experience they don't come undone if done right. To each their own I guess but if I did it the old way I would lose money and I run my own very successful business and pride myself on not having any installation related callbacks. I have to say also just because a school teaches someone one way doesn't always mean it's the best way technology is constant improving so maybe you should try something new
