I am looking for stair runners and love your video. I have to add I love Ollie’s I bought a few really nice quality plush carpet with a pattern hallway runners and took them to a carpet store and they cut and put them together to make a 22 foot for my long hallway.
I also have the exact same hall table but in white…lol
You guys are amazing! This is so helpful and it looks as good as any professional could do. Thank you so much for sharing this project. We will definitely be doing a version of this. You guys are the best!
Thank you for this. I just did my stairs today because you showed me how. Now it took way longer than you did and I overlapped on one part but for what the carpet companies wanted it looks super nice. Got my carpet at Ollie too. 10 bucks. Used 5 pieces.
Nice job! Looks great, for those watching it may help to use a rug pad and carpet tape underneath the main runner to keep it secure and so it doesn’t slip over time. Either way, huge bang for the buck, thanks for posting!
I love home projects
Oh, meant to say thanks for sharing!!👍it looks really high end!
That is so nice and very neat looking. Great job!
Looks great, & will be so much better for the pups.
Good job! That looks great.
That looks VERY GOOD.
Looks really good.
Super amazing! Just what I was looking for!! I absolutely love the contrast of your earth tone colors.
I LOVE it!❤
Looks great!
WOw, that looks beautiful. It looks very professionally done and expensive.
So pretty!
I like that look much better than all carpeted stairs and SO MUCH cheaper.
Awesome job!
Thanks for sharing ❤️
This looks great!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩. Totally knocking this off ! Thank you!!!
Looks great 👍
Wow very nice. And way better money wise doing it yourself. Love it. 😀❤️
Nice love it you can run a little hot glue on the bottom cut area so it won't fray
That looks awesome 👍 👍😊
Awesome thank you!
Looks great
I like what you did to your staircase that looks really good with the stinking put a plant there something down the that would look good too
Great look and great $ savings.
very nice a great idea
Great job!. It looks great.
Great job
Wonderful rugs
That turned out so great, and it looked pretty easy! I’ll be curious how well they hold up. But, even if they only last a couple years, you know you can easily do it again if you have to!! And, you could do it a bunch of times for what it would have cost to have a professional do it!! Well done!!! 👏👏👏
Same here, I'm wondering how they held up. They look fantastic to be sure, but I wonder if, over time as the rug wears, strands of fibers will begin to stick up and poke at your feet? Any issues there? Even if they did, it would seem like a simple fix as well.
So great job! :)
I’m doing a remodel in my moms finished basement and I had the same idea which is why I looked for videos that did the same. I told my mom, let’s check Ollie’s, once this pandemic is over! I’m looking for same exact natural sea grass carpets too! Happy to know I may have luck coming across some there.
Tip* anyone wanting to do this if you don’t want to add staples/nails to treads, like they did, you can buy a roll of 2-sided carpet tape to hold carpet in place and keep debris from going underneath the carpet.
Looks fantastic! I am going to do this for a client of mine who is on a tight budget. :)
I really like that nice
Nice job
Looks great! You made it look so easy, and THANK YOU for the Harbor Freight tool reminder. My son is installing runner stair carpet to basement as I type this. I did add carpet padding on steps only (not risers). But I have a question - how do you plan to clean the stair carpet? Spot cleaning? I'm not really sure how I will clean mine, as it is more like a mat, as is yours, than actual pile carpet. Carpet steamer maybe? I could use some tips in this area. Thanks!
Funny that I literally googled DIY rug runner and your page popped up! I didn't realize that you are Shane's sister in law until this video was finished!! We went to HS together.
On the bottom edge of first stair, to keep from fraying- put some stop fray glue (you can pick up at Walmart in sewing section) or us a little Modpodge.
Wow guys, that looks great! Nice job Sean!! (not sure if I spelled his name right) 👍🏻😁😉
Love love it! Also love the picture you have on the downstairs wall!! Where did you get it!?!?
I did the same,my stairs looks exactly the same ☺️
What did you do with the landing area? I find the turn so difficult to diy. I’d love to see what you did. Thanks!
I have just started on my stairs, carpets gone old paint on its way out. Guess i need to buy a commpressor and stapler now
We did the gel stain also but after two coats we did two coats of poly. If you do that, you will not have the wear you are experiencing,.
Very nice but I think I would of found longer runners so it was less work for me I have to small staircases so I may do this as well as I've just painted my stairs and varnished them luckily they are not slippery. I cant buy one of those air staples just for my little project but I will look into a cheaper way to do mine. Looks really nice hope the runners are comfortable to walk on.
Nice...love that look. Did you switch your dining room and Living room?
Is it washable/cleanable? But then I guess spot cleaning is best and always an option. Looks very nice.
Hey, love your DIY of this! How well did it hold up?
What colour is the paint you did around the staircase it's very nice and airy looking it makes everything stand out.
Looks great. Do you see the staples?
❤❤
Looks lovely what’s the fabric material called x
Hi, I am just curious how it's holding up with just the staples and no carpet tape? Thanks!!
Would it damage the hardwood?
Thanks
It was superb video. I am lil confused, you are using Air nailer gun, whereas you have shown staple pin as well, Are you using Nails or Staples to fix runner on stairs.
Can you give us an update on how the carpet runner has held up? Any things you would have done differently? I have a 100 year old home and the stairs were torn up by the nails of the previous owners dogs. I want to paint them black and put in a runner, possibly using Berber Carpet and using Instabind to edge it, but I like the idea of using small runners to save money and the time to hand bind the carpet. Would you suggest using double-faced carpet tape in the center of the step to keep it from shifting? How is it wearing? Thanks for your video.
What is the best way to clean the stair runner without harming the wood?
What is the paint color on your walls? It’s beautiful. Great job on your stairs.
Could you have air gun stapled the runners together 'Before' you place them on the stairs. This would eliminate the need for cutting then fraying.
What colour is the paint on your walls please x
Any reason you didn't put carpet pad just on the steps? Now that it's down do you wish you did?
i just got done removing carpet from my stairs and it had 1000 dam staples in it, will never staple carpet down again.
It’s been a couple years how are these holding up? Are they easy to clean?
How has this held up?
Need help DIYing the landing. Anyone have tips?? I cannot leave my landing bare.
LOL, little dogs are like, oh look she put this down for us to pee on :-)
Love this but I would like other know how it wears down the line. Know it's cheap but still love to know. Thanks

Did you say $100 ? I already spent $400 just for the runners carpet. 28 steps. 46 ft. X 26”. + I will have to buy the stapler gun tomorrow probably bout $80. 🇨🇦$
I had mine with padding or foam
It’s professionally done for $3,2 can for 2 floors ... I notice you didn’t nail the side
There will be advantage someday
You might’ve Tripp
As much as I hate carpet, the wooden stairs are just dangerous. All it take is one small mishap, for you to add the carpet such the runner.
NICE JOB!
These will last about 12 weeks.
What did you use the air compressor for?
The staple gun is powered by compressed air.
This time I will do it manually with the help of Stodoys plans designs.
Why is it the women always say we yet it’s the man doing the job
Why did you not retouch your treads & the white risers first?
I think they knew the runner would cover most of the stairs so just retouched after. I would of done it first so not to stain the runner,
Hey man a dozen and a half is 18... just wanted the math to be corrected
please don't do it. you will hurt yourself or your family. why? because you didn't install carpet strips under the runner. staples along can't hold it.
It looks pretty tough the way the guy pulls it tight then stapled them though
“Diy stair runners”? You just bought stair runners and fitted them, I thought you were gonna cut carpet to make your own
Way too much talking about stuff that is not relevant to installing carpet runner.
