Memories of ripping around town with my buddies, smoking doobies, a couple road beers, in my 1986 Toyota Celica, my Alpine stereo and 6x9's pumping this shit. The best days of my life.
Hell yeah!!! I was the dude behind you guys beeping my bloody horn........To TURN IT UP LOUDER.
🤘🏻🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🏻
that was poetry, man. just beautiful. :)
Fuck dude I was the high school stoner that sold you cheezdiks weed❤
You could have lived across the street from me. That was my life too. Lol , 65 chev SS,
What a great story, and I would do the same again tomorrow... We're here for a good time not a long time.... 🍺😳💨.... Stay safe and always remember to inhale....🤣👍🇦🇺...
One of my first concerts. 1980 invasion. I was in the 10th grade and I didn't realize how great the times I was living in were
My first concert, 3-21-80. Five days before this album released. Medford, OR. Snuck in and watched the soundcheck until they kicked us out. Can't do that anymore!
I don't think any of us did. 😢
We s my first concert. Soo loud!
I saw that tour
Oct 30, 1980
Macon Coliseum
My 15th birthday
Tickets were 10 bucks
That is the truth. Those were much better times. I miss listening to new GOOD rock and roll not the stuff they're making now. Trying to think of a good new recent band and I can't think of one.
Mr. Edward Lodewijik Van Halen
Mr. Alexander Arthur Van Halen
Mr. Michael Anthony Sobolewski
Mr. David 💎 Lee Roth
What a Band What a Álbum What a Line Up 🔥
This is the only van Halen lineup that matters
Ever see Hitler complaining about VH without Roth and Anthony ? It's hilarious , Anthony is such a good bass player no rhythm guitarist was needed for EVH genius guitar work
My senior year of High school I was 18 This album was just amazing! The loss of John Henry Bonham and the demise of Led Zeppelin was so terrible. Bon Scott of AC/DC died too. This record was a bright spot for those of us who loved rock and roll!
Yea Bonzo 😪, Bon 🥺 but we had Dio with Sabbath Back n Black OMG!
&
Shooting Star
AND
Van HALEN!
I was there with you..Grade 12...17... Phoenix Arizona. Lost randy Rhodes too but seen him w ozz and was salvaged by Van Halen, judas priest, maiden and a lot more great shows. RIP To those whom we've lost over the years but your music lives on in my home and my ride..
Of same era, agree!
Hey you cool iremember some high school all the time 84 Johnson County High school country has been a great place to live rock and roll
Don't forget John Lennon died that year too.
Those were the BEST times ever!
The 80s were the BEST!
This album and Fair Warning were the best live concerts I've seen. Van Halen at their peak.
You lucky Bastard, I was only 7 than 😅
@@sdavis6806 You want to watch something great. Go to us festival devore ca. You'll see Van Halen in one of their best concerts.
Good stuff. I saw fair warning tour. Lakeland florida, 82
First time-Fair Warning, Dallas,Tx. @Reunion Arena in'81. 19 yrs.old and smoking that stuff& jamin' my ass off at this show!
One of the best rock albums of all time✌
Funkin A
Peter Petrovič, IYHO, that is.
Rocking the cradle to this very day! RIP Ed.

Without question
"Take Your Whiskey Home" is a tune we can all relate to.
Amen brother!
Incredible music. Incredible album cover. I was 18 when this album came out. We took for granted the great music we had growing up. I feel sorry for today's kids. They'll never have the experiences we were fortunate to have.
But but todays kids just have so much shit to choose from, problem being that in the end & in the beginning its all shit. Theres not a rock group (Rock) group out there that can hold their mud against the likes of Van Halen, Ac/ Dc, Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne just to name a few.
You're sorry. You're sorry? You killed my brother, and you say you're sorry? Let me tell you something. The job offer, it didn't upset me. It amused me. *Blows air* Big job at the illustrious HHM. A chance to play at the palace. Little old me? You have no idea what's going on! You're a teensy, tiny man in a teensy-weensy little bubble. Oh, don't you fucking ''Oh, Jimmy'' me! You look down on me? You pity me? Walk away. That's right Howard. You know why I didn't take the job? Because it's too small! I don't care about it! It's nothing to me! It's a bacterium! I travel in worlds you can't even imagine! You can't conceive of what I'm capable of! I'm so far beyond you! I'm like a god in human clothing! Lighting bolts shoot from my fingertips!
I'm rather young 20ish. Love rock rebirth of the late 70s early 80s, also dig early-mid 70s stuff. I still get to hear "new" music from bands I like, listening to an entire album. Thing that sucks is I can't see some play live at all, and most others are just disappointing.
And sadly these kids won’t ever know the greatest country on earth that we grew up in either. They have nothing to compare today to (the old days) for them to really understand how screwed up it is now .
I dont know if feeling sorry for more selection is really all that true but in a sense i would feel sorry they didn't get to experience growing up before the digital revolution totally took over and when theese songs came out the digital revolution was in full swing but it had not completely taken over everyones lives yet
Omg I remember seeing them on this tour. So loud and the coliseum was jam packed. We drove a hour in my High school friends 1969 Impala to get the tickets at a music store for 10 dollars. Thanks for sharing this killer album.
An excellent memory
Was it in Macon? I was there for that show
Got our tickets from Turtle's
Could it have been the mid-south Coliseum in Memphis?
1969 Impala! Hell yeah!!!
I remember the day I bought Women and Children First & AC/ DC Back in Black...Now that was a good day.
Yeah, I was there too. Hacksaw, is this you?
@@captainakeaton5572Late for an answer..Nope..D.B.in the HIGH DESERT..Cheers
When Women And Children First came out I was in 7th grade and had not been introduced to this side of VH. They had a few hits in their first 2 albums but w/this one and Fair Warning to follow Van Halen entered a different stratosphere of rock
Dave's charisma, the boys' musicianship, the songcraft. It was a collective genius so rare I can't think of a better rock band ever.
The perfect storm!
@@sithlord7530Let’s hear ‘em!
The greatest band of all time, people say The Beatles, Zeppelin etc..but in my honest opinion it's Van Fuckin Halen
My favorite
@@sdavis6806100 fucking %!!!!!!
And the cradle will rock... The best keybord driven Hard Rock song ever...!! 🤘👍
In A Simple Rhyme just has it all.
Probably my all time favorite of theirs.
I never get tired of it.
I remember specifically in 1980 where I was when I first heard VH. I had just graduated from six grade, it was early summer, and could hear someone on the street in our neighborhood playing And the Cradle Will Rock…in fact that song was played regularly on the local rock radio stations in Los Angeles during the early eighties.
That memory is forever implanted in my memory bank. I could picture all my surroundings still to this day 43 years later, whenever I hear ATCWR.
Funny how certain random moments never leave you.
Yeah & feels just like ✌️ yesterday !!!
Kudos for remembering!
I saw this live and I was 21, great time to be alive. Tickets were 6.50.
Yes my all-time favorite song from VH. And it somehow got buried as the last track on the least-listened-to album..
I was in 9th grade when "Women and Children First" was released. I was that kid that was into hard rock and great guitarist. This is the music of my youth that I still love...
My fav-o-rite Van Halen album.
I'll tell you why-
1- They were still hungry.
2 - It's raw, nasty and primal.
3 - It's sounds like they went down into a basement after a club gig at the Troubadour with a few cases of Schlitz, a baggie full of Peruvian flake, at 2am, and just let it rip..
One could argue Fair Warning had better tunes and better production, which it did, but this album captures the essence of Van Halen in my book..
First album (atop Mt. Rushmore) aside of course..
Good post!
No agreement here.

The Linda Ronstadt section is a few aisle's over.
I feel similar about Led Zeps Presence,I feel like In a way this is Halens Presence, my favorites by both respective bands.
This record has a s_load of swagger. On the heels of #2, which was a bit more bouncy, this record is a bit dark in comparison, IMO. Was a fun show back in the day, still blasting it.
“ Have you seen Junior’s grades”? Is one of the defining moments of the 80s
One break - comin' up! I don't feel tardy!
"naa-naa-naa- don't take 'em ON, leave 'em ON, leave e'm ON...!!
My god !!!!! I've Seen them in my town in normandy
France . An earthquake , great and loud sound .
I thanks god for letting me living this moments of my youth. Great band ever 🤟🤟

LOVE this album!!!! You talk about underrated....This absolutely is. 🎸🥁🎸🥁
Far far far from underrated. Sold zillions in 1980....radio played 5 songs everyday 20 times a day off this album. Top 10 chart around #6 I think. The invasion tour 1980 is legendary hard rock History. Eddie Van Halen influenced more guitar players than Chuck Berry and SRV so....
Yes...then,now you hear Jump and Van Hagar stuff. I know what the album did,and I thought it was great too!@@bobbyw1510
@@SuperFlanders123 you know now that I told you. I saw them in 82....I was a kid. I met David lee Roth at the t shirt booth. Did you? The debut album is in top 10 best selling releases of ALL time. Diamond status platinum 100 times. Did u know that?
You actually hear a total of 42 van Halen top 10 and top 40 singles.
@@SuperFlanders123 the album goes platinum every year. Not then like u said but NOW....still sells zillions so don't act like just because u r just now discovering it...that no 1 else ever heard it.😁
I was14 when this dropped, have had it on various formats over the years, am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a Copy of an Original Japanese pressing on vinyl. My neighbors are going to learn about great music this weekend. 57 going on 14 again 😅
these guys were all so creative on this album. I forgot how much I like it. Eddie's tone is unreal, Alex is doing way more than most realize, Anthony is all over that bass, his backing vocals are top notch and bring in Dirty Dave and you get this masterpiece.
You stink, I mean, you think?
Yes they were buddy those were the best years for me back then
Yep….always loved Eddie’s tone and style in the earlier years.
Think this was my favorite album. I seen them on their first tour and all the way through the Sammy days love Sammy. I'm from Indiana Roth's home town
Oh yeah, the 1st 6 VH LPs burned start to finish. Loss of Control is off the chain insane. 🎼🔥🤘🎵
Van Halen opened this tour at our college; they destroyed the rooms set up for them (not unexpected). Came out and melted the walls of the place. Had earplugs in, my ears still buzzed for a week. No lie, they were tight and loud!! Outstanding show!!
Forgot how good this album was wow still great. Rip Ed
This album and Fair Warning. Awesome.
Love Fair Warning - so dark and brooding but still innovative and great.
These guys were so creative back them. All time favorite band.
As I listen, I think about the legacy left with this music. Amazing I was alive when all this greatness came into our consciousness!! What an impact Ed and crew had on my life and millions of others!! I want this time of my life back!! Thank you Edward and all of Van Halen band and fans alike!! 🤘😎🤘
I want it back too. Even if it was just 1 day!
Love the Halen, 54 this year and still drinking and rocking to this
I say Rock On
Me too buddy!
62 this years month of may . Rocked to the bottom the first 5 studio albums....yeaheah !
Fantastic band and album....R.I.P. Eddie forever....
Greatest band ever.
The first car I ever bought when I was 15 had an 8 Track stereo in it. My parents had a few tapes, Ann Murray and Don Williams mostly. Three months in I found an 8 Track wedged under the front seat.... It was Van Halen's Women and Children First....The Rock Gods are real!
This album was exactly the right length. Asking it to be any longer would be like asking Rembrandt to add a few brush strokes to one of his masterpieces...
Eddie's Tone is Unsurpassed.
That’s because most of the tone is in your own finger tips
Love "Loss Of Control" because of how it sounds like it's going to go off the rails at any moment, but they somehow keep it together amidst all of that frenetic energy.
Alex's cymbal work on this is amazing.
I've always said this sing is one of the most hyper active, frenetic, fever-pitch, sonic assaults I've ever heard. How I love it.
"Everybody Wants Some"... the 1st VH song I heard on some obscure late night Radio show (these were the best, do you remember???? just awesome...) Life forever changed in that moment 🤘
That song gets your attention.
it was so different from anything else, first there are the drums giving that suspense and you start thinking "What is about to happen?" and then the rest of the song kicks in and you think "Okay what kind of music gender even is this? What is even happening?" but then you can't stop listening because it's too damn catchy 🤣🤘
@@FeelingShred I saw them on that tour great seats. 5-9-80 To this day it's the best concert I've ever been to, and I've gone to about 150 shows. Lost my hearing. Worth it When I got home I found out my Sister had committed suicide.
Fools...."Don't want no class reunion the circus just left town"
AWESOME!!
And there’s me calling myself a Van Halen fan and I don’t think I’ve heard this album start to finish. Superb! Talent in every corner! 😊
As good as the first
This is called chemistry!!!!!!
I can honestly say, VH impacted who I am today. I remember listening to our family stereo on album and 8 track, then cassette. They took me with them every time I listened to then.
Wherever I was, am are will be. They have a huge footprint on so many lives in a very, very positive way. RIP EVH. And god bless all who made the music. ☝🏻
10/21/2023 Escuchando WACF después de mucho tiempo. Qué gran álbum. Fan desde 1991. Se imaginan cómo voló mi cerebro adolescente cuando descubrí su música de anteriores discos 🤯🤯🤯.
My favorite band of all time. God we miss you Ed.
My senior year in high school. Always one of my favorite albums. Can't pick just one album😊❤️
Ditto!
Class of 80 baby!
79 here
84!!!
83!
Это просто шедевр. Van Halen с Дэвидом это лучший состав. Мое личное мнение.
The greatest days of our lives are the ones between birth and death. Some are better than others just like everything else. This was my 1st album I ever bought. Still love it.
God I miss those days!
Good times!
As a 12 year old "And The Cradle Will Rock" sounded so badass, almost evil
they say it was the only band that could unify the Heavy Metal, Punk and Hard Rock crowds, so they would stop fighting for two minutes 🤣🤣
Tora Tora Tora sounds Evil!!!
One of the best bands ever 🎉😅😊❤
Eddie’s Song Arrangements were timeless. David Lee Roths lyrics and interpretation of Eddie’s Arrangements was genius. Can you believe theses guys started playing together for backyard parties? 3 fricken musical geniuses Eddie’s genius goes without Saying but the originality of Alex’s drums is crazy too. He doesn’t sound like any drummer who came before him. Then Mike Anthony’s alto backing vocal is signature as well. All of them contributed something to the originality of this legendary band’s sound.
Incredibile sound...
alex and eddie were together from birth- and at EVERY van halen gig thereafter. they sound like they even breathed together.
This album cover is the coolest i have ever seen
Plain and simple the first couple albums they put together were so hungry/inspiring to listen to,nothing but good memories
front to back. My favorite album of all time. King Edward at his best.
Sounds Like Greatness, Been a Fan 1982. Wow, Bass, Vocals, Drums and Guitar. Just imagine the sounds coming out of their house Growing Up. Eddie and Alex in the Same Bedroom. My Lord.
In my Top-3 favorite VH albums, with Fair Warning and the first album.
And damn, those 3 first songs (And The Cradle Will Rock / Everybody Wants Some!! /
Fools) are absolute KILLERS !!!
I still want to burn a burger joint down after hearing Everybody Wants Some.....Lane Meyer lives forever
Two dollars!
Best claymation Edward Burger ever!
The best Rock band of all time, I have all the LPs and listen to them all the time, they are the best of the best
For an album made in a few weeks, this is raw Van Halen at its peak. No overproduction. Party album perfection.
In my Nova SS with a self installed equalizer, Pioneer deck and some oversized house stereo speakers in the back seat. Heading downtown cruising to locate the next kegger...good times, great friends and gorgeous women.
I agree with John, the music we grew up with (I’m 56) was the best! Everyone had their own sound, every band was experimenting with new instruments and sounds. I’ll die with Sabbath playing in the background lol.
,
Always overlooked this album for some reason, cool to "rediscover" it and deep dive through it after all these years.
Long live the King 👑 🎸
Thank you , this is my favorite Van Halen album., It's so badass ❤
I second that ✌️
Better than one and two?
They don't make music like this anymore 😞
This album changed my life. Up until then, I had no idea Rock and Roll even existed. My father was a concert pianist. All I ever knew was classical music. Then I broke the rules and played with my father's stereo and land right on Cradle that was playing. To my fathers credit, I didn't get in trouble. He bought me my own stereo. The rest is the history of me.
Tora... Tora... Tremendo tema....
I was 13 when this was released, loved loved loved this record, that intro was so so badass, EVH was just so epic.
I was 13 in 80 too.
I remember me and my friend walked to the record store and as a kid we had to pick and choose what album to buy cause we couldn’t afford more than 1 at a time lol
My friend and I decided,he’s gonna get the new Halen & I was excited to buy the new Priest album.
That day we came home w Woman & children & British Steel ,we listened to both and was blown away!
80 was a sick year for Rock
Sabbath, heaven and Hell ,AcDc back in black,Ozzy Blizzard,Motörhead Ace of spades & more ,it was nuts!
It might be VH's best album? So much screaming musical and lyrical invention here. Incredible...
The first album, VH 1 was a middle finger to the establishment. The second album, VH II was both middle fingers to the establishment. The third album, was just Eddie say "f-you" to all. So you say I can play guitar and keys? F-you! RIP EVH! Love you!
We were always pissed they were only 30 minute albums...We Wanted More🤣🤣🤣🤣💯🔥
Roth's Plant imitation at the beginning of FOOLS is cool.
My favorite VH album.
IN A SIMPLE RHYME one of the GREATEST tunes!
BADASSERY LOVE THE WHOLE ALBUM LOVE FOOLS!!!
Killer Tune!
I was in 9th grade my friends dad took us I remember Dave smoking joints on stage with his furry boots cussing up a storm Ed with his overalls and guitars loud af we all had our mouths wide open😲 even my friends dad..I was one of three people with concert tshirts felt so cool
Nothing like it then or now. Never will be either, enjoy while you can.
Eddie knew how to manipulate electricity like no other. He just had something that nobody has had since. Yes there are shredders etc but Eddie's premonitions for tone and what he wanted is still unmatched. And randy was right there with him on his tone and style. Totally different but just as powerful of a statement. Eddie's tone is just other worldly. Many get close to duplication but there is something missing in most, "fingers partly" he did something that I think isn't known. He tuned that Amp like a dragster with some secret sauce and his fingers made it happen
Hardest, most versatile and best album VH ever put out.
don't you think Fair Warning is harder and darker than WACF?
Отличный альбом! Эдди - прекрасен!
In a simple rhyme, best song.
Fools?
Totally underrated tune
Oh yeah
Agreed
ratter531, IYHO, that is.
And the cradle will rock, baby! Yeeaahhhh!
Such a great song. An underrated VH Classic.
Van halen = quality .
Used to cut class daily and jump the fence home, smoke a fatty and listen to this album, go back fifth period for PE…. Good times in 1980….
I still feel tardy, bro.
♥️😊
I was 15 when I got this.i saw them on this tour and 78 and 88.This show and album were my favorites
My brother loved this album blaring in his Honda civic back then. This inspired me to learn the guitar when I was ten years old.
Great Album What a great Classic
Been a long time. Listening now. Going to listen to them at the gym in the morning. Thanks man 😎👍👌🙌🙌
Probably one of the greatest Five albums ever
Yeah Take Your Whiskey home
Avec un album pareil, ils peuvent frimer sur la pochette ! NO PROBLEMO
Man these were good times...Dave sang about everything we thought....
"Everybody wants some" - always makes me think of one of my favorite teen comedy movies with John Cusack: "Better off Dead".....my $2!!!!! LOL
And when I need something to soothe my soul...I LISTEN TO TOO MUCH ROCK AND ROLL!!!!! EFF YEAH, DAVE!!!!

Meilleur souvenir d'été. Un album tropical
Such important rock 'n' roll that will never be forgotten.
Saw them on 1982 in San Antonio ,David Lee Roth blew the roof off the Convention Center Arena when they performed Atomic Punk, came out sporting a pair of wool chaps, giant cowboy hat and waving a Texas flag the place went nuts
