Written and recorded in 8 days. Talent like this is a thing of the past.
Many songs were years old.
Recorded in 8 days, sure. Written, not a chance.
Maluma and Bad Bunny love this commentary
8 days?! the first song was written 16 years before the album came out
many of the songs were on the 1976 demos recorded by Gene Simmons
Revisiting these songs 42 years from when I first heard them just blows me away to the day. I hope that in the year 2080 there will be some kid out there finding this music and saying "God damn, that is incredible",
I imagine that would happen in 2450 as well.
6 2 1979. 17 yes old 12$ ticket over 50000 people
By 2080 this music will be viewed as white supremacist, dysgenderist, and an example of toxic masculinity. Therefore, it will be long banned and your kid will have no access to it. Check back in 57 years and see if I'm right. I'll be long gone by then.
It's meh.

Somebody give me a shot! Get me a doctor!
I bought this on 8 track at a garage sale in the 80s when I was a kid. This is the VH album that is permanently burned into my brain forevermore. Fate couldn’t have found me a better 8 track that day. Still a killer album.
I'm sixty years old and I still rock out to van halen whenever I can
I too had an 8 track of VH 2. I was 17. I think I wore out the tape. Today I’m 62 and listening to it now on UA-cam.

THIS is Van Halen, DLR on vocals. In 1979, I was 18, my GF was 24 and her panties were always moist when this album was on,. Ahhh the good ol' days....and nights!

the greatest American rock band of all time. Not even a close second. The sound that VH was able to create with just 3 instruments is amazing.

Really?
@@Matt-oz4co yes, really
@@morethanenoughwoodworks7654 You're the expert after all..btw they used more than just three instruments.
@@Matt-oz4co im going to use small small words to explain it to you. One lead guitar, one bass, one drum set. The point is there was no rhythm guitar, and until 1984 no keyboard to speak off. 3 musicians creating a solid wall of sound. I realize you probably prefer teccno, its cool.
Days of Vinyl never forgotten those days 80’s Rocked. Those of us remember track after track by heart. Sure their where cassettes but Vinyl was where it was for me. VH lives onward. 🖤 🎶

In my humble opinion, the greatest Rock n Roll album, ever. The guys were magic back then.
take away the cover song and the instrumental and it's only 27 minutes long - if they released this in 1989 it would have been an EP or they would have added another 30 minutes of filler and overproduced it
The guitar work is masterful !🎵
IMHO the greatest rock album of all time would be a mix of the first three records.

A special applause to Mr. Wolfgang Van Halen. I saw this man recently on a video clip. He plays the guitar exactly like his father Eddie I was complete blown away. Please keep up the Great work Mr. Wolfgang Van Halen.....
LMFAO! No he does NOT play guitar exactly the way his father did.
Uhhhhhhh.......he beats the Bass!
Wolfie is a true student of his great father. Wolfgang would admit to not bring his dad if he were asked why he doesn't add a little extra panache to his playing. WVH would also say, though, that he is really a bassist who took over the guitar after his father's death. Wolfie has his own talent and Mammoth WVH is a great act to see live.

@@jvh8806 So true my friend.
What a great, seamless musical ensemble this band was!!I was in high school when these early Van Halen albums were released, so naturally, you take much of what you hear for granted. As it's on Heavy Rotation--I call it the Hotel California curse--you simply take it for granted as musical wallpaper. Now I'm 62-years old and mostly listen to Jazz, Symphonic music, Great American Songbook (about 1913-1970), that sort of old fart stuff. Yet, coming across this album is an absolute revelation. What an incredible musical unit this group was!! Each element--guitar, bass, voice, drums--is so in tune with the other three, serving the intentions of the song, rivaling any great string quartet or tightly -structured jazz ensemble. Really, I don't think I've ever heard anything like it in rock. And yes, that includes Led Zeppelin, G 'n'R and The Who, as great as they were, at their peak. And really, Eddie Van Halen had as much of a role as Jimi Hendrix in influencing how the guitar is played and with so much sensitivity and expression. Magnificent.
Personally i wouldnt put gnr in the same breath as zepplin., the who, or van halen. GNR were a joke compared to this. Flash in the pan band with one hit lp. I agree with everything else you said for sure. Van halen is a band all their own spanning a long career like zepplin and the who.

The works of a composers lives from the gaze that is given to it. It is not limited to what it is, nor to the one who produced it, it is also made by the one who hears it. Music, painting are a space of questioning and meditation where the senses that we attribute to it can come and be done and be undone at any time✨
