I am glad you got to check out Nevermore....one of the most underrated bands ever! Stunning musicianship, deep lyrical content, and you can totally windmill to that shit. Keep up the good work......your passion is quickly leading you to the top of my favorites list.
Yes I believe the whole album "This Godless Endeavor" from Never more to be a masterpiece. Every song on that album is absolutely out-freaking-standing. If you guys do an album reaction, then definitely do that one with a few others of course from different bands. Opeth album "Ghost Reveries", Megadeth album "Rust In Peace" just to name a couple more for ideas...hint hint...wink wink.
Warrel's voice was just unique. The man had years of classical training and it shows, but he had made that style completely his own. Also, his range was insane. I'd recommend listening to *Sanctuary - Battle Angels* (the band Nevermore emerged out of) back to back with *Lucretia My Reflection* from Warrel's solo record to truly grasp his range.
Nevermore is one of the most underrated and overlooked bands of all time. They are amazing and yes most of all their songs are great. As a thrash fan wolf you would love their album "the politics of ecstacy "
Jeff Loomis is definitely one of the best guitarists alive right now. Absolutely a virtuoso. You should listen to "Conquering Dystopia - Autarch" Probably my favorite solo of all time; played by Loomis.
Warrel was trained in opera for 5 years, as was Geoff Tate ( Queensryche ) both prog mix genre bands. Both from Seattle which has always had excellent musicians who take great pride in technical, concise musicianship. Nevermore was a amalgam of prog, grove, thrash, traditional heavy metal. They were a special, top shelf band. BTW, the whole album was this tight and good.
I'm so happy to hear the Geoff Tate comparison. I have always thought they sounded Similar and no one ever remembers queensryche enough to agree with me lol.
You can't go wrong with Nevermore. The band before it (and after) named Sanctuary was pretty good too, but musically Nevermore is top notch. Many amazing songs from this band.
R.I.P. Warrel! His solo album is really worth checking out, too. He may have more than one, but I'm only aware of Praises To The War Machine. He also was vox for Sanctuary early on. Their Refuge Denied cd was produced by Dave Mustaine and is also worth a few listens. Jeff Loomis, in my opinion is a very underrated player; I love his work with Arch Enemy, too. I'm a big Queensryche fan, and I liked the Blaze Bailey era of Iron Maiden (Falling Down, Futureal) as well, so it's not a far stretch for me to like Warrel's vocals as well. The tempo and rhythm changes on this tune are intense. Excellent reaction, really enjoyed this particular one. Seems no one does Nevermore. My top 3 Warrel Dane tunes for today... Lucretia My Reflection (Warrel Dane solo), White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane cover from Sanctuary's Refuge Denied LP), and Nevermore - I, Voyager. Peace!
Jeff has no work with AE. He's a hired gun and has contributed absolutely zero to the recordings. He's prepared stuff, but it has not been used at all. Gigantic waste of time and talent.
Jeff Loomis was also in Santuary (w/Warrel Dane) and is with Arch Enemy now. My favorite Nevermore song is Poisoned Godmachine, and Sanctuary's Battle Angels with Dane.
RIP warrel dane. I remember being 15 hearing this band and hated warrel Danes voice but I kept listening to them anyway and fell in love. I just wish I saw them live once. Makes me depressed knowing i can never see them or hear his amazing voice live. Definitely gotta listen to dreaming neon black from them. About warrel Danes love disappeared and was never found and he wrote the song because she would visit him in his dreams. Also gotta listen to wintersun loneliness. Saw them live and just amazing.
one of my very favourite songs :) completely agree on this being one of the best songs of the 21st century. Everything about this is soooo incredible, the concept, the depth. It is catchy but soooo much to discover. It takes me and it doesn't leave me. Still after dozens of times listening to it it still grabs me and amazes me. A beautiful piece of art.
Warrel Dane was/is one of my favorite vocalists. He puts little inflections on his vocals that no one else doing that style did. So many good songs.... "The Sanity Assassin" from their first album. "Dreaming Neon Black" has converted many a person to Nevermore fandom. These guys considered themselves Thrash but it is definitely prog. So their roots are in Thrash metal, but definitely prog. Anything you did from this band would be worthy of listening to. "The Heart Collector" is incredibly catchy too with amazing vocals. EDIT: Consider Metallica - Master of Puppets. Is Thrash also often Prog? I think so. Master of Puppets has a few interesting different transitions.
I only discovered Nevermore because they were meant to be opening for Disturbed on a UK tour, which eventually didn't happen. But they've been one of my favourite bands ever since.
@Wolfkain You nailed it with the operatic part. He was trained as an opera singer. This song is one of their more epic pieces, but they have stuff all over the place. Heavy , melodic, groove laden... Jeff Loomis is not only an amazing guitarist, but an amazing songwriter too. FYI, he's with Arch Enemy now.
Warell and Jim were in the band sanctuary before forming Nevermore he had opera classical training they had a lot of very good songs throughout Jeff loomis is now in arch enemy
no wonder why you find similarities between queensryche and nevermore. both bands are from the seattle region and both stands agains the crunch movement in the 90s and of course warrel dane and geoff tate have some similarities in the voice and style
Awesome reaction. This was a great song that showcases their abilities, but it only shows one side to their many faceted musicianship and writing skills. They have several songs that just get under my skin and are haunting. I think you should check 2 songs back to back in same reaction that tell a story together - Dreaming Neon Black, and Forever. I won't give away the meaning and story behind it, but I think that would definitely be a challenge for make sista cry. Keep up the good work! \m/

YEEEES THANK YOU! Nevermore is arguably THE MOST underrated metal band ever.. as if they were too good for the metal community. The best lyricist in Warrel and one of the best singers, guitarists and Van Williams is a super tight drummer with great cymbal/ride action on top of his tasty use of double bass! This Godless Endeavor is my 2nd album of all time - 2nd only to Symbolic from Death! NEVERMORE is a mix of thrash and groove metal (since the beginning) and prog metal (since "Dreaming Neon Black" in 1999) and really got their signature sound with Jeff Loomis 7-string guitars since "Dead Heart In A Dead World" (2000). It's a sweet mix of dynamic drums, distinct and operatic vocals, HEAVY riffs, tempo changes and A-M-A-Z-I-N-G solos! Also, they wrote super catchy/anthemic choruses (Born, Enemies of Reality & Emptiness Unobstructed etc.). As the guy who requested this said; This is one of the best metal songs (of the last 20 years). Up there with A Change of Seasons, The Odyssey, Dante's Inferno, Kingdom of Heaven etc. You should react to one of their more emotional ballad-y songs like Sell My Heart For Stones, The Passenger or The Heart Collector.
totally agree with what you say here MetalForTheMasses.. you did leave out a few of their more Mainstream Friendly songs though that are probably the most accessible like Believe in Nothing... but yeah I totally agree.. Warrell Dane is one of the greatest guitarists of our generation from a total perspective.. he's among one of the most technically sound.. can set the fretboard on fire with ease and can play pretty much any style you could ask of him.. but yeah the place where he totally makes himself above and beyond alot of guitarists is he also can write riffs that are beautiful.. and unique.. and Ripping your face off thrashy... while not being thrash.. They are only underrated to people who have never given them the time of day.. Them and Iced Earth are probably my 2 favorite bands of all times and both are criminally underrated. it should be mentioned for HalfLife that while Warrel was classically trained he also had some training with Geoff Tate of Queensryche.. that's where the influences that they talked about come from.. plus when news of Warrel's passing made it to Geoff Tate he made a mention of the loss and dedicated his performance of Silent Lucidity in that show. Warrel was not only an extremely unique vocalist but also an extremely humble down to earth man.. I got to witness one of their shows back in 2007 and I remember it made a big mark on me because it was a little venue that you wouldn't expect them on.. and after the show Warrel made time to shake hands and have a few words with people in the venue that wanted to go up to him.. where as with most guys you meet in that way there is that sense that you get that even if they are nice they are probably putting on a facade there was none of that with Warrel... he was just There.. he seemed like he was as happy to be there as we were.. made a huge mark on me.. I think I may need to become a patreon just so I can request Sentient 6
@@Eliath1984 I personally have never liked Believe in Nothing tbh - much bigger fan of The Heart Collector (the solos!!), Insignificant (that chorus), Sell My Heart For Stones (the lyrics!), Sentient 6, The Lotus Eaters, The Passenger (that guitar theme) etc.
Sanctuary and Queensreiche kind of came out almost around the same time. Warrel Dane and Geof Tate are pretty similar. Both really excellent vocalist and song writers.
Nevermore is, to this day, one of my favorite bands. Jeff Loomis, the guitarist, now plays for Arch Enemy. Sadly, Warrel Dane died last year, so all hope of a reunion is gone. :'(
Hey guys, if you haven't reacted to this one yet then check it out: Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show ua-cam.com/video/cx22Yuj2nzg/v-deo.html
I love Nevermore. Would love to see you do more of them! So many good songs. Born, My Acid Words, Next in Line, Beyond Within, Poison Godmachine, No More Will, Insignificant, Believe in Nothing, Dead Heart in a Dead World, The Sound of Silence, Moonrise, Without Morals...
Such a great band and an immense loss when we lost Warrel. I suggest their tracks "The heart collector" to make you cry and "The Tianenmen man" for some very political lyrics and insanely heavy riffs! Great reaction as always!!
*Yes* for _The_ _Heart_ _Collector_ . *No* for _The_ _Tiananmen_ _Man_ since it's a bit too on the nose lyrically and according to the Chinese overlords, nothing of significance really happened there. Except for a few songs like _42147_ or _The_ _Passenger_ , I wouldn't just jump into _The_ _Politics_ _of_ _Ectasy_ without checking out songs from the albums _Dead_ _Heart_ _in_ _a_ _Dead_ _World_ , _This_ _Godless_ _Endeavor_ _and_ _Dreaming_ _Neon_ _Black_ first.
"When you put this much into a song, what's left for you other songs?" I mean, makes sense, but this entire album is just as good. And their other albums come pretty close. Amazing band. React to Born from this album, if you haven't.
My favorite band but I we didn't call them progressive. You have to listen to something off Sentence Number 6. Nevermore is the heaviest riffs of any Metal band every. The first time I heard Nevermore was a tribute album for Judas Priest the song love bites. My first album the Politics of Ecstasy for me maybe the heaviest album but am probably bhaiya #1
Yessss, great reaction and amazing song, Nevermore is one of my all time favorite bands, they all are/were so insanely talented and gifted, R.I.P. Warrel Dane, one of the really really great vocalist of our time and such a brilliant lyricist... The whole album is a masterpiece and not just this album, they made so much brilliant music, I will forever miss them and I feel so lucky that I got to see them live, when they opened up for Disturbed, they played a flawless and completely mind blowing show, Jeff Loomis is a beast on guitar, Van Williams a monster on drums and Jim Sheppard made that brilliantly rich and thick bass foundation together with Van’s drumming and Jeff’s heavy riffs... Love this band beyond words...
Missing out on not diving into the lyrics here. Warrel is not forcing his beliefs on anybody, most of his religious lyrics, he is questioning everything, to believe or not believe, questions evidence, questions the evil that hides behind religion. He was a very smart man, extremely curious and very, very confused.
¡YES! LOVE THIS REACT/SONG. *JEFF LOOMIS* , *THE BEST GUITARRIST* 🌎. Check out: "Plains of Oblivion" album, guys (guitar album & many collab) , and you'll see that *JEFF LOOMIS IS ... UNDERRATED* -》It's time to: *EVANESCENCE* - *Good Enough* 😙❤

The term is Drama Metal, theatrical vocals as if Phantom of the Opera went Metal...no one sounds like Warrel and no one ever will. Jeff Loomis is a master, Van is a monster and Jim is a rock.
Nevermore is an amazing band, but if you mention Warrel Dane, died in 2017 by Heart Attack, you have to mention his former band SANCTURY and their Masterpiece LP from 1989 "INTO THE MIRROR BLACK" with the song FUTURE TENSE.I think all old Metalheads will remember this song for sure....i definatly do ;) ....Greatings from Germany,Soulbrother FENRIS
Very nice reaction! Nevermore made only interesting music. To me, they were the greatest band of all time by far! You should definitely react to more Nevermore songs. Another very progressive masterpiece of theirs is called "The Learning"
Nevermore is awesome. Speaking of Steven Wilson though. I think you should check out Pariah ft. Ninet Tayeb. The music video or live from Royal Albert Hall. Best song of 2017 for me. It hits so home.
One of the most underrated bands of the last several decades. Warrel Dane was an amazing singer/lyricist. I encourage you to check out more material from them. Dreaming Neon Black or The Politics of Ecstasy would be good follow ups. Honestly the worst Nevermore album is like a 7/10. Tells you how great they were.
Thank you so much for this video. Nevermore has been one of my favorite metal bands, full of so much underrated talent, since I discovered them 10+ years ago, and a major creative influence in my life. Also - R.I.P. Warrel. One of my favorite vocalists & lyricists of all time.
Oh yeah!! One of the most underrated band in the metal universe. Great reaction...as usual. This is what my 9 year old calls "happy-metal" , because if the music makes you happy than its not heavy metal but happy-metal... His words not mine. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us.
@@beyondyourperspective8420 he made that remark while listening to Rammstein and when I tried to correct him because I thought he misunderstood me when I said that he was listening to heavy metal, he then said "no dad if the music you're listening to makes you happy then it should be called happy-metal", I stood corrected and shut the hell up because my kid knows more about loving music than I do. Never underestimate your kids intelligence. :)
For Make Sistah Cry...You have to listen to DISTURBED-THE SOUND OF SILENCE .(The official music video) That will take her out of this world like Pink Floyd did..That is if you havent already done it..If so can i get a link to it...If not come on people and like and comment this amazing song
How about doing something different than every other reaction channel and go with Nevermore's version of _The_ _Sound_ _Of_ _Silence_ which they did way back in 2000.
This is a flat-out amazing band, but don't get too hung up on the "progressive" label. This Godless Endeavor is almost certainly their most "multi-faceted" song. There is not a single bad track in their discography IMO. It was a real nut-punch when Warrel died. Saw him with Sanctuary opening for my first Megadeth show in 1987. This was just before Sanctuary's first album was released and I loved that band and every other song he recorded since with Nevermore and his solo works. He used the high range a lot in the first two Sanctuary records and then less as Nevermore went along. His second solo album was released posthumously. I recommend the following: Sanctuary: White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane cover), Veil of Disguise, Long Since Dark, Epitaph Nevermore: The Learning, My Acid Words, The River Dragon Has Come, Dreaming Neon Black, Born
I've known of them, but never listened to em. It had such a full sound! And definitely has a bitchen groove. And Mr. Wolfkain lol....happy to see you so excited by music too! Great video guys.
Gods I love this song. This whole album really is a masterpiece, in my opinion. I go back to it every now and again and I'm always struck by how deep and sophisticated and moving it is. So sad about Warrel Dane - his loss so young was really a tragedy. The solo stuff he was working on when he died was recently released as an album titled "Shadow Work", and while he never finished the whole album, he had completed several songs with about 40 minutes run-time. It's well worth a listen - some really good stuff there, though it does highlight the loss of a real talent.
dude i been saying overkill back in Nov. Over and over and over soooooo OVERKILL SONG WHO TENDS THE FIRE . and i never hear of nevermore but i love it . dude youtube all i got so don't be a other MTV plzzz help a bro in metal Wolf you know what i am saying !!!!!!!!! love yall stay metal P.S THE DAY YOU DO REACT TO OVERKILL I WILL DIE LOL.
First time for me. And I definitely return to this song few more times, to appreciate it more! It reminded me some good old Mercyful Fate/King Diamond + progressive/melodic death) I can't wait for Gojira! Please give them a chance! Love your reactions, keep doing this!!!
Falsetto vocals.... I Always thought of Nevermore in the beginning as a mix of queensryche and groove laden thrash....pretty much all their songs are this good or better. They came from Seattle and came from the Ashes of the band "Sanctuary" Warrels older band... Jeff Loomis joined them twords the end and then they formed Nevermore..... Since then Nevermore Broke up, Sanctuary came back and Jeff Loomis went on to do solo records and eventually went on to play 2nd guitar In "Arch Enemy"
Please, please, please, please, PLEASE react to "The River Dragon Has Come" from them!! The studio version. Groove laden, kickass Metal but a little shorter than this. The grooves will kick you in the ass. And the solo is blistering. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE react to it. Love your channel. Keep doing you, guys :)
You know... hearing this song, again, makes me fall deeper in love with it! The vocals... and just everything about this song is perfection!!

in my old creative zen mp3 player this was the song i played more times...1167 times...still not enough!!! epic track!! miss you Warrel :'(
Do it "Evolution 169" from their album Dead heart in a dead world
Hey guys, if you haven't reacted to this one yet then check it out:

I love Nevermore. Would love to see you do more of them! So many good songs. Born, My Acid Words, Next in Line, Beyond Within, Poison Godmachine, No More Will, Insignificant, Believe in Nothing, Dead Heart in a Dead World, The Sound of Silence, Moonrise, Without Morals...
It took me a while to recognize that The sound of silence was a cover, so very different
...The River Dragon Has Come, etc., etc., etc. They have so many good songs.
@@johanvanoppen1627 Lol, me too! I actually heard the Nevermore version before I heard the Simon and Garfunkle version :p
"When you put this much into a song, what's left for you other songs?"
I mean, makes sense, but this entire album is just as good. And their other albums come pretty close. Amazing band. React to Born from this album, if you haven't.
This fucking record is so adorable...
"Do you remember Queensryche from the 90's?"... Do you remember Sanctuary from the 80's? :)))
Nevermore is one of my favorite bands of all time and Jeff Loomis is one of the finest guitar players in the world. Always a great listen.
Check out some of Warrel Danes solo stuff. Pretty awesome as well.
Every Mother's Nightmare!
My all time favorite band. I miss Nevermore.
UNDERRATED*
-》It's time to:
*EVANESCENCE* - *Good Enough* 😙❤
Say, for something completely different, check out Aurora from Norway: ua-cam.com/video/8zJPRfeqNIU/v-deo.html
Oh also from Nightwish: ua-cam.com/video/rpjEw4pbYJo/v-deo.html
The term is Drama Metal, theatrical vocals as if Phantom of the Opera went Metal...no one sounds like Warrel and no one ever will. Jeff Loomis is a master, Van is a monster and Jim is a rock.
This song is a masterpiece full stop!
The river dragon came and took the light from this world
Oh snap!
No worries guys. Mr. Loomis makes me do the pee-pee dance too.
Battle Angels
His solo albums are great also . Was glad the band was able to put together enough of the early vocal demo and recordings to give us Shadow Work!
If you liked that, they have other great songs. Wardell had a band before Nevermore. Was called Sanctuary. His vocals were much higher
Loomis....
"River Dragos has come" pleaseee!
_GOOD ENOUGH by EVANESCENCE_ ...please :( *Amy Lee* Has a *WONDERFUL voice* & The video is PERFECT ( !!! *36 million views* !!!)
Thank you so much for this video. Nevermore has been one of my favorite metal bands, full of so much underrated talent, since I discovered them 10+ years ago, and a major creative influence in my life. Also - R.I.P. Warrel. One of my favorite vocalists & lyricists of all time.
They were amazing live. I saw them on this tour.
Ive requested this one many times, cheers.
Oh yeah!! One of the most underrated band in the metal universe.
Great reaction...as usual.
This is what my 9 year old calls "happy-metal" , because if the music makes you happy than its not heavy metal but happy-metal... His words not mine.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us.
Pretty ironic since Nevermore's music and lyrics are very dark, sad and heavy! I like this expression though, because Nevermore makes me happy too 🤘🏻
@@beyondyourperspective8420 he made that remark while listening to Rammstein and when I tried to correct him because I thought he misunderstood me when I said that he was listening to heavy metal, he then said "no dad if the music you're listening to makes you happy then it should be called happy-metal", I stood corrected and shut the hell up because my kid knows more about loving music than I do. Never underestimate your kids intelligence. :)
@@ruisantos502 Sweet, it seems that you have a wonderful child :)
Yes, sometimes we can learn more from children than we would expect!
I recommend the following:
Sanctuary: White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane cover), Veil of Disguise, Long Since Dark, Epitaph
Nevermore: The Learning, My Acid Words, The River Dragon Has Come, Dreaming Neon Black, Born
If you want a more simple and more groovy song from them check out My Acid Words from the same album
one of my favorite prog metal and metal bands period. Smart, lyrically deep, technical metal, the way to go
I've known of them, but never listened to em. It had such a full sound! And definitely has a bitchen groove. And Mr. Wolfkain lol....happy to see you so excited by music too! Great video guys.
Hi, beautiful!!😃
Im glad you actually enjoyed this song! 💜
I had the pleasure of seeing Warrel Dane back when he was in Sanctuary...I saw him touring with Megadeth.
me too! back in 1990-91! EPIC !
Please do in the next episode of make Sistha cry NEVERMORE-DREAMING NEON BLACK.
There is a connection between Nevermore, Sanctuary, Megadeth, and a little Control Denied. I leave it to you to discover...
dude i been saying overkill back in Nov.
Great band! Great reaction! RIP Warrel Dane :(
Nevermore - Dreaming Neon Black
Nevermore - The River Dragon Has Come
Nevermore - Beyond Within
Trust me, you HAVE to listen to these now.
Also
Nevermore- Born
Nevermore- inside 4 walls
Nevermore- death of passion
Basically they should go through Nevermore's hole discography 🤘🏻
Love this band, sentient 6 is one of my favourites from them.
Masterpiece.
Any song off of " Into The Mirror Black" or from " The Year The Sun Died" by Sanctuary, is a better choice for a Warrel Dane song in my opinion.
Pink Floyd - Marooned .
