This was an awesome event. Arne built an amazing car and the Blues Brothers livery added to the experience. I was glad to get the opportunity to come along.
Remember, it's not called 'hitting it with a hammer'. It's called 'percussive maintenance'. Hopefully that can add to your already exceptional linguistic capability.
All I can think about after he talks about being stopped by the police is the scene from the blues brothers where Elwood gets pulled over and they run his licence and it shows that he has a suspended licence and 56 moving violations.
Dude I wish this would actually happen. I miss the old real Top Gear so hard and I'm sorry but the new guys are so ungodly lame/boring. I mean, Ed and the gang wouldn't replace Clarkson, May and Hammond but at least wed all be able to watch it without having to choke back vomit. Lol.
ED Bolian is the Mark Twain of the 21st century. What a wonderful story teller. His mind pictures always bring you into the moment, as though you were actually right there, watching it unfold.
Because of this channel it is officially on my bucket list to do a cross country rally like these. Thanks vinwiki especially ed for being a great story teller and sparking my interest for this.
I think I've watched this three times. I totally love these stories, it's such a childhood fantasy of mine to do a Cannonball. I recall going to the movies when I was 12 or 13 to watch The Cannonball Run with Burt Reynolds and co. I live in Canberra, Australia, so the idea of doing an actual Cannonball is a complication fraught with difficulties. I'm so glad there's a bunch of maniacs who keep this dream alive for the rest of us who don't have the resources or balls to actually do it. You guys are inspiring.
Getting stopped in the wrong state sucks. My last speeding ticket for 90 in a 55 was written up at that speed with a $361 fine and 6 points off my licence( wisconsin gives you 12 points in a one year period ). After going to court without a lawyer it is now my most expensive parking ticket. They changed it to a $500 parking ticket and 0 points because it was then a non moving violation.
atombomb232610 I got a ticket in Sheboygan for too fast for conditions when I slid into a guard rail due to ice. I was going under 10 at the time. I could’ve fought it but I just paid the $216
Wow antique cars are sure different than they were in my day, 32 Fords, 40 Fords, 49 Mercury's. I had been driving five years when your car came off of the assembly line!
Very interesting for us Walter Mitty types. I totally get the trying to stay awake part, having driven a 2600 mile trip in my misspent youth. Not at 100mph, however, in my 1964 VW bus. LOL
Love Bluesbrothers, want a Bluesmobile and love the concept of the run but lads mature up a bit - check your tyre pressures if that's what your doing. I've driven the unlimited speed highways here in Australia enough (most still are despite "laws"). I'm all for doing midnight cannonball runs but I'll always check tyres, it's the first thing cops do if you're caught and if you can tell them what tyres your running, when you last checked and the temp change then you're sweet to go. Truckies are mad about it here to. Once got passed on the Flinders Highway by a road train doing 170KPH. A lot of prime movers have faulty speedos.
I'd love to be involved in this race! It's been a dream of mine ever since I was a child watching movies about it. It's doubtful that I will ever get to do this and it breaks my heart. Anyone that has such a memory to look back on is truly blessed. I subscribed to this channel 2 videos ago lol. Thanks for sharing your stories with us who can only dream about it.
I went from Detroit, made a stop to pick up a load, had to wait for it, then finished the 2,550 mile trip to LA in under 38 hours, solo! Man I was beat when I got there! Felt like I was sitting on a picket fence! Took seven gas stops, never even set my foot on the ground in Nevada! I'll never do that again!
As a PA resident I would like to say our police absolutely suck when it comes to 'spirited' drives. If you need people to run interference on your next trip we're here for you.
Since there's no reciprocity you just got to pay the fine and deal with it. I used to get tickets in Jersey all the time and I'm from New York with a New York license and none of the points ever transferred. Even though the New Jersey cops always lied to me and told me the points for transfer I used to almost laugh at him after that. so it was just kind of biting the bullet and paying the fine
I once drove from Indianapolis to Rapid City, South Dakota in 12 and a half hours. I was booking it. I was by myself and only stopped for gas and to pee. I'm Cannonball ready.
🙌💃🎊🎉 those crazyKiwis were prob from my hometown ChCh.. Our University started the Undie500 over 20yrs ago... All cars worth $500 or less..& race from Christchurch Uni to Otago Uni in Dunedin...
We might do a video at some point on evidentiary standards of Cannonball claims but you are safe with circumstantial photo and video evidence, witnesses, third party GPS tracking, and screen shots from nav systems.
"We started to drive through this miserably dense fog. Almost impossible to drive though. We could hardly maintain 100mph"
I like the combination of multiple storytellers for something like this. Great idea.
I agree on the back and forth, an awesome way (although more editing for you) to roll the story. Went VERY WELL!!! Enjoyed it!
This was an awesome event. Arne built an amazing car and the Blues Brothers livery added to the experience. I was glad to get the opportunity to come along.
Ed Bolian I love all your videos
You are awesome 😎
Oh. So I got ya. I gotta beat 34:16 in my 78TA to set the new one for an antique car. Got it. Thanks. :-D 2019 Here I come!!!
Remember, it's not called 'hitting it with a hammer'. It's called 'percussive maintenance'. Hopefully that can add to your already exceptional linguistic capability.
Neither radar gave you time to slow down?
@@DirtyVegasVids Kind of like we haven't been able to use the word ni#*$r rigged for quite some time...... Now it's called a presidential solution.☻
Forest was tinkering, Arnie was distraught, and I had a wonderful nap.
Best line of this story.
106 miles to Chicago full tank of gas 1/2 a pack of cigarettes its night and were wearing sunglasses. HIT IT!
damnit! you beat me hahaha
Its got a Cop motor. Cop brakes. Cop suspension.
Ya need ta fix the cigarette lighter.
Car's got a lot of pickup.
Favorite movie line when I was a kid driving a similar 70's Fury that we Beat the shit out of.😁
All I can think about after he talks about being stopped by the police is the scene from the blues brothers where Elwood gets pulled over and they run his licence and it shows that he has a suspended licence and 56 moving violations.
"And channeling his inner Jeremy clarkson..."
We need more people like Ed in this world
Want a TopGear style show to work in America??? Hire Ed as the American Clarkson... and the rest will fall into place.
II McG II dude that is so true
Ed Arne and rabbit there you go
Ed actually auditioned for Clarkson's job when they were looking for his replacement! Fact!
Lol.
@@bossboyritchno1287 seriously?! I had no idea. Awe oh my god why didnt it happennnn... so sad rn. Lol.

More Cannonball Run content for the channel. We put together a playlist of Cannonball related stories. Be sure to check it out!
"Explain to Forrest what a useless human being he is at the moment"
Hah
StaticImage read your comment as soon as he said that. Lol
"i had a wonderful nap" Savage
So I guess you could say the fuel pump was a "shrewd" negotiator, only to be over come by the blow of a hammer?
Yes, you could.
miatamilitia LOOOOOOOOL
You need to tell Dan Aykroyd about this, he would be proud
Honestly id say belushi would have been more entertained may he rest in peace

Best Cannonball Car idea ever. I cannot believe the cop gave you a ticket in a Bluesmobile!
Some officers have no sense of propriety........
some people have no sense of humor
I hope Matt Farah makes an appearance on this channel. Or Ed and Matt do something collaboratively. That would be gold.
I owned a 1977 Dodge Royal Monaco Interceptor; 440 4barrel; it would do 150+. great car!
“Almost impossible to drive thru, it was hard to maintain 100mph “ bruh
"I had a junkyard LS"
*eye begins to twitch*
The doors being wrong also bothers the hell out of me.
The Bluesmobile didn't have vent windows
Because of this channel it is officially on my bucket list to do a cross country rally like these. Thanks vinwiki especially ed for being a great story teller and sparking my interest for this.
Automatic thumbs up for any cross country stories
njshift automatic thumbs up for anything vinwiki 😁

Arne _and_ Ed in one story? It's about Cannonball _and_ the Bluesmobile? *Best VINwiki ever!*
Not going to lie, Ed’s sense of humor and way of telling the stories, he’d have fit right in in the blues brothers movie
Great event and an honor to run with you Ed!
I could listen to Ed talk all day long. Him and David (thatdudeinblue) are my favorite guys on the channel
More ed!
I genuinely don't think I'll ever get bored of hearing his stories
Cannonball story and blue brothers. Will be brilliant if there was a police chase involved as well. XD
/me tries to imagine Ed trying to keep Arne awake, his dulcet tones and smooth delivery would calm down a meth addled tweaker on PCP.
It's cool to see that guys who drive high end cars daily still fuck with the old stuff. Even if it is just for a goof
This story was awesome! I love the cross country stories and loved the way both of you told the story!

2:15 Blue Brothers getting chased by the Polizei. Close enough lol.
One of Ed's best lines..."And I had a wonderful nap."
This video was amazing, I love the cannon ball/2904/what ever stories, they're so fun to listen too
You got soul, man.
Austin's Garage Their girlfriends be like " You better think about what your trying to do to me".
I like Ed for his amazing voice and great story telling, but I really did like the partner story telling gig that’s going on, really great quality.
Thanks. We might try to do more of these. Tougher to edit but the outcome seems worth it.
+VINwiki you guys do a great fucking job I love your content
One more thing. Not really a question more of a PLEASE PLEASE run it again in the Blues MObile!!!
Officer: Do you have any idea why I stopped you?
Ed: Would you believe I was on a mission from God?
Wow antique cars are sure different than they were in my day, 32 Fords, 40 Fords, 49 Mercury's. I had been driving five years when your car came off of the assembly line!
respect for putting the adv at the end and not the start always let the end ads run
The fact that you guys won after all that went wrong proves that it truly was a mission from God.

how are stories like these not confessions where they can just write a ticket based on your own statement of the situation?
you're right about one thing but nobody's likes an LS motor in a Mopar. But the car still wicked cool
