The new smart traffic lights that do that where they turn green when there's no one else on the road or whatever and so as you get close to it just as you slow down it turns green for you and even flashing yellow turn arrows and stuff, whenever you get close or if there's no traffic on oncoming they'll actually turn green for you. 6:20 American drivers are crazy for that, highways have multiple lanes for a reason, drive on the right, pass on the left. Three lane highways have a rule pretty much across the whole of Europe. Trucks stay on the right and are only allowed to use the middle lane to pass slower vehicles. Cars drive in the right and middle lanes and the left lane is strictly for passing (no trucks, no buses, no slow vehicles on it)
Here in the states we use the middle lane for truckers, the left lane for commuters and the right lane is used for merging, driving under the speed limit and passing
Just completed 1800 miles from Reno to Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, and back to Reno, and so many people just sit in the middle and left lanes because they think doing 5 over qualifies them to be there. I passed so many cars in the truck/slow lane doing 80+ because nobody would move out of the other lanes
@aussieexpat Sure. When you buy lemon car somebody neglected, you get to work on it. You only buy luxury cars new or from somebody you know that took great care of it. People want to flex so they scrape money to get cheap BMW, Mercedes and than wonder why it doesn't work. Fact you and not BMW shop worked on it says it all. It is not a car you dabble in. You have to be trained by BMW to work on it. I take my car to BMW AD every 10 k miles and have 0 problems with it.

I always thought, Diesel cars would absolutely dominate cannon ball one day. As I stated february 2019 as a comment to another vinwiki cannonball video: "Well... Just buy the biggest Audi A8 Diesel, completely fill the trunk with diesel tanks and dont have to stop for fuel even once."
I wish they would make a legal race like the Cannonball run coast to coast closing of streets in the sections they race one section by section every day, like they do during bicycle races. Her they closed of the main road for half a day for 100km, then rest of the day the next 100km was closed of for the bicycle race. I did take my motorcycle out on the closed road after the bicyclist has passed as they was so slow to open the road that you had the road alone for close to 2 hours where I had my own private motorcycle race with empty road totally alone lol ;)

The new smart traffic lights that do that where they turn green when there's no one else on the road or whatever and so as you get close to it just as you slow down it turns green for you and even flashing yellow turn arrows and stuff, whenever you get close or if there's no traffic on oncoming they'll actually turn green for you. This such an awesome time driving on roads with cities that have smart traffic lights
Not having this sounds alien to me, guess europe has way better infrastructure lol
@@marnix1202all the bigger cities all had it for a while but it's starting to venture out into the smaller towns as well.
7:23 sounds abouy right for BMWs
"That was one of the weirdest stops I've ever experienced, and I get pulled over a lot" 😅
I'm a simple man, I see Cannonball story, I watch.
This is my sub! The things he can achieve without a gag in his mouth are incredible. Don't let anyone tell you cross-country clientele aren't motivated.
Congrats brother! Couldn’t be more proud! 🎉🎉
15:15 That Hillman/Sunbeam Imp in the “120 years of history” segment was unmodified and had a 6.5gal tank and a 875cc engine! In August 1964, they did it in 48hrs, 9mins, 54sec breaking E.G.Cannonball Baker’s previous record. Awesome to see the Sunbeam Imp recognized for its Cannonball Run involvement on VinWiki.
Congratulations from a former Solo Record Holder. Signed,
The Bug Guy
A 27 hour solo is crazy!!
6:20 American drivers are crazy for that, highways have multiple lanes for a reason, drive on the right, pass on the left. Three lane highways have a rule pretty much across the whole of Europe. Trucks stay on the right and are only allowed to use the middle lane to pass slower vehicles. Cars drive in the right and middle lanes and the left lane is strictly for passing (no trucks, no buses, no slow vehicles on it)
It's the same in the US, people just don't abide by it.
A cross country "rally" is a definite bucket list item.
So hop in a car and go!
Big time congratulations! Have a great week.
So cool to see this record set in an F10 535!
Great job Chris
Would like to hear the mods done to the car
Other than a tune, and ABC deletes. It's all stock with Michelin PS5s
Gotta love a good disclaimer at the beginning of and during a video!!! 😂😂
BMW, check engine lights... expected.
Been driving BMW for 28 year now and never had one. EVER
@damirbajic4579 oh you're one of the lucky ones where it catches fire before the lights come on.
@aussieexpat Tell me you never had BMW without telling me you never had BMW. Work smart, and maybe you will be able to afford one. Stay 💪!
@damirbajic4579 ive wrenched on my family's once regretful BMW purchase. Never again.
1:58 insta360 radar jammer? Did he misspeak? Not sure what he means. Don't insta360 just make 360 cameras?
I did misspeak. It was an escort max 360 ci
@@christopherstowell5690 thanks! I was wondering if my camera had some cool features I completely missed lol
@@christopherstowell5690 W mans for replying to comments 🤙
Dude is a MACHINE, doing everything alone is nuts. Congrats.
Dude is a G. Solo, non-covid, and sub 30hr is amazing
Thanks for helping me remember my trip in '92. I didn't think you could still make that kind of time.
Incredible demonstration of focus and commitment.
Bravo on a safe run.
Autists are well known for their singular focus. 👍
Great drive . Keep ot up you are an inspiration for future drivers!!!!! Thank you!!!
Those 35d BMW's are beasts, i used to have a 2013 335d x drive individual m sport (which you dont get over in the states sadly) that car was a rocket
possibly the most remapped car of all time lol
Yeah the 535d in the states is our 530d so the single turbo one.
0:58 i was confused with you showing this disclaimer, i was thinking that was for THIS run. by the end i went back and realized it was a supporting screenshot from the rental mustang video.
They really pooped on that run!
congrats home crew
you set your mind to a goal and did it
so glad i went on the california to florida ride
totally intense and memorable experience
In 1991 I took my brand new VW GTi from Boca Raton Florida to Rock Point Long Island in 12 hours and 38 minutes, no bad for that car and I hit NYC rush hour. One of these day I will do the Cannonball run and set the record because if you're not first you may as well be last. Love these Cannonball stories Ed!
Good luck! 🍀
One day never comes… Rent a car for a week, throw in some extra fuel tanks and go before you’re in a nursing home hoping “one day” to remember your dentures before you sit down at the breakfast table…
Love that it was the same year as my F10 BMW! Let’s go Chris!
he’s 100% insane lol sick run 👏🏽
27h16m solo! Huge respect.
5:38 if I’m gonna blow up the engine I might as well just do it! Lmfao
This is a man that is passionate about Cannonball! I love hearing these stories, makes me want to try the cannonball (probably not for a time record) myself
What’s stopping you? 🤷♂️ you can rent a car for like $500 a week and get some auxiliary fuel tanks.
Solid dude. Great effort 👍
You sir…are a madman! Congratulations on this record. It’s good to see what a person can accomplish when they set their minds on a goal. Drive safe my friend.
That's a baller time in any era. Congratulations!
I have the same(ish) car. BMW F11 535xd. Tuned 400hp, good gas milage and full extra, so everything you can ask for. No problem with my car since I own it
Nicely Done Chris !!!! 👌🏼
What a G, dude. If ever there was “I’m gonna do ____” epitomized, it’s this. Bro just simply DID the thing. Congratulations!
Psssstttt... When approaching a stale red light at night time (and no oncoming traffic), slow down & FLASH YOUR HIGHBEAMS QUICKLY & ERRATICALLY from a distance.
Unless the traffic sensor is in the ground, it will likely change. 😉
yes for safety vehicles
That was a great story! 105mph moving average across the country in 27hrs with no tickets! That’s a huge win!
Phoenix to Vegas? Were you that mad lad in the Honda Odyssey trying to keep up with me in my GT-R on the way from Phoenix to Vegas a couple years ago? Valiant effort, homie. 🤣
What colour was the odyssey? lol
@@stelvioooo Hahaha...grey or tan if I remember correctly. 🤣
Absolutely insane! And no tickets! ❤
what a champion! great run!
Man this makes me want to do a solo cannonball run. I have a 2010 CL550 with 26gal tank and room for a 40gal in the trunk. I love driving long distances and have gotten really good about being efficient on the highway if you catch my drift. I use to make 4-500 miles trips at least twice a week for a couple of years and learned how to cut that travel time down a lot without drawing unwanted attention from the dudes in blue.
This dude is my kinda guy.no BS no extra shit.
Congratulations Sir.🎉
This Weekend on Oct 13th, 7am -11am, Cars & Coffee Darien at Goodwives Shopping Center in Darien, CT is holding the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash Reunion, Featuring previous record holding cars & drivers with many types of cars on display
I like your minimalist style. Great job.
I always thought, Diesel cars would absolutely dominate cannon ball one day. As I stated february 2019 as a comment to another vinwiki cannonball video:
"Well... Just buy the biggest Audi A8 Diesel, completely fill the trunk with diesel tanks and dont have to stop for fuel even once."
Congrats.
It’s a huge accomplishment.
Love the fact that it was with a BMW d.
As a bmw owner, I am absolutely super proud 🔥
