That Crown Vic was very impressive and so was the team behind the wheel. Great job and a valiant effort Arne. Too bad Dave is so good at Indian Leg Wrestling!
gentlemenk, i am envious of this. would be metric ( and imperial) sh*t tons of fun. btw out of the entire group going did anyone get arrested? or worse?
Can't believe I'm only now watching this! I was captain of the other Crown Vic, the "General Leia" and let me tell you they blew past us in PA as if we were standing still. To their credit, they did wave.
Yea, tell me about it. Ex-military brass car. Ex-"community patrol" car. Everyone was scared shitless, even though it was dark blue. It was like driving a magnet. Every car on the road slowed down to 10 mph UNDER the speed limit, even if they were in FRONT of you. Such a pain in the ass. Not a terrible car. Not good, either. Glad it's gone.
LOL.. no records here. In March of 2017, I made it from Western KY, to SLC Utah in a 1984 GMC Camper Special in 20 hours, including a 2 hour nap. I made the mistake of going through Kansas and Wyoming. I think I almost died about 20 times ! The wind was crazy all the way from Kansas City until I got about two hours out of Laramie. Ohh on my nap I left the truck idling and fouled out a plug. 31" tires and 3.73 gears.
I loved the Cannonball Run movie as a kid (in the UK). It blew me away to find out it was based on a true story, and it warms my heart to think you guys are keeping it going.
Sweet ride.....AWESOME to hear MY home town named...Lincoln Nebraska.....great story, thanks......this makes me wanna do one of these runs....sounds like a blast
very impressive. as a colorado native who constantly goes up i-70, i can tell you for sure that most cars struggle to achieve 70mph, and semi trucks can (maybe) do 35. how you did 90 on those sketchy downhills and uphills was insane. great solid car and the same to the driver.
Great job Arne! I wanted to do Cannoball this year but the $25k entry fee just looks like it's only for rich guys. I did build a 79 Camaro for around $3k though and it would be interesting to see how it would do across the country!
I would love to do something like this! Some street racers and I used to make it from Greenville South Carolina to Miami Beach Florida. To the Miami docs and back in one night!
Makes me sad my height and weight was the deciding factor in this. Sorry Arne. Makes me really disappointed about the navigation error I made because I would have been in the 31:40 range without the additional 60 miles.
So if someone at the bar yells "FASTEST CANNONBALL RUN BUYS EVERYONE DRINKS!" Do this guy and Ed start arguing about whos time was "officially" faster?
I have driven from Philly to la I couldn't imag8ne doing it in just over a day granted I'm stuck at 62 mph no matter what but still looks fun to do in a car
Thinner air is what killed you in Colorado. I was stationed Lowry AFB in 1984. Had a weekend up at Estes Park when I was there. Harder to breathe, but man the scenery was beautiful.
unfortunately I'll never have the opportunity to drive in a cannonball. Ironically I thought it was just the stuff of legend in a few movies K Brody year or two back didn't realize it was a real thing.
The moral of the story is why the hell don’t they let the cars go together? Ridiculous to screw somebody over at the very start by guaranteeing they arrive in LA during rush hour. I just hate petty stupidity, these people are the cause of so much shit in the world. They should have removed an hour and a half from his time.
I've got a 1984 GMC Camper special with dual 20 gallon tanks and I want to add a 42 gallon suburban tank to the rear where the spare tire would be. What I want to do is make a run from the last road in the State of Maine near Canada down to San Diego via I40 just for the halibut. I also need a crate engine and an over drive. I'd be happy if I could average 75, 80 mph.
Chad Baker good idea. 2 people with 2 massive fuel tanks and maybe additional cooling system for the engine so the engine dont melt at the half way point. Also fresh water and waste water tank.
I wonder what it preventing people from doing another cannoball run. Apparently this group seems to be the group in charge of "Cannonball Run" what is preventing anyone starting another group and going from say DC to Frisco or DC Miami to Seattle???
Ultimate cannonball car: diesel swapped crown Vic police interceptor and massive fuel cell plus dual driver controls i.e. 2 steering wheels and sets of pedals.
When I first read about the 2901 race, it seemed like a legit lemons affair. I don't know if that page is still up, but this race sounds like a hack-a-thon. Sorry, but getting a tech to do 1000 hours of free labor on your car is against the spirit of the race.
You know, you guys pretty much have a think tank. Turn it toward legislation. Pass a law that says effective immediately all speed limits on Interstates are raised to 80MPH. Make it so the right lane can be a minimum of 45MPH, left lane for 80MPH. Look, cars are much more capable in the 21st century - why the hell are we still stuck in most urban areas to 45-55MPH?
This video sort of inspired me to think about what I would build with $2,904 and I was thinking maybe an early 4 cylinder Fiero with a supercharged Buick 3800 V6 swap and the Lebaron brake upgrade. If I still had a big enough budget to spend on looks, I'd nab some Vibe GT or Beretta GTZ wheels. I probably wouldn't be very competitive, I can't afford any tickets lol. I'd just be in it to have a good time and make it to the finish line really. XD
I would be amazing at this I’m a driver already and I hardly ever get caught speeding and I fly. I have actually always wanted to do something like this but I would have to find a team or some sponsors cause it’s expensive. I drove the dodge in the pick to Detroit 450 miles away In 5 hours. I only stopped one just to throw $15 In gas In to finish getting home. The car didn’t care it could easily do 100-110 and not even turn that high of a RPM. Usually I stayed around 3k-3500rpm with the 6 speed. The 3.6 pentastar is surprisingly strong 💪🏼 in the avenger R/T. 14.0 second quarter mile 0-60 in 6 seconds that’s very respectable for a V6. And I know there not the sturdiest cars but we got it new so it made it 80k before I ever had a problem and turns out the torque converter was bad from the factory and finally let it slip enough to throw a code.
That Crown Vic was very impressive and so was the team behind the wheel. Great job and a valiant effort Arne. Too bad Dave is so good at Indian Leg Wrestling!
Make videos man.
gentlemenk, i am envious of this. would be metric ( and imperial) sh*t tons of fun. btw out of the entire group going did anyone get arrested? or worse?
Arne sounds a little salty in the telling of his story... Can't blame him though , it's just the luck of the draw... Many Blessings , SMR
Can't believe I'm only now watching this! I was captain of the other Crown Vic, the "General Leia" and let me tell you they blew past us in PA as if we were standing still. To their credit, they did wave.
You have to come by and tell some stories!
Yeah man, tell some stories to VinWIKI!
Why were you driving so slow?
This is so much cooler than Gumball or GoldRush.
It is definitely a very fun event, captures the spirit of Cannonball very well.
Do you mean Bullrun? GoldRush is a mining show AFAICT.
Gumball is a high end rally. Look it up on youtube and type in Goldrush Rally
Same players, just another trust fund kid circle jerk.
Gumball has become more of a party rather than about the driving
As a crown Vic owner I can relate all too well the blessings & a curse that owning a crown Vic can be
Kendrick Craft I owned a 2003 P71 for five years, I miss that car.
Glad it's gone.
same here lol
I absolutely love when he shows his speedometer at 6:25 that the check engine light is on! That’s so freaking cool!
That story was awesome, from a 32 years retired Police Officer
Wow...things only Panther owners know about, downshifting into 2nd to go up a hill at 90. Also wow...140. Glad the driveshaft held together.
Very impressive car.
Yes they are

That P71 has some stories to tell!
I love this channel. These stories and people are just great.
This is great. Would love to do a drive like this someday.
Ayyy the top gear plywood splitter!
Crown Vic definitely sounds like the way to go! XD
Jeremy Clarkson likes that
I still keep binge watching this old ones for any little bit of info to use for future runs.
Crown Vics are bad ass! Reliable as hell, comfortable and they got balls.
I feel fortunate to have had a car in this one.
It was a very fun time. You have to make the next one.
I loved the Cannonball Run movie as a kid (in the UK). It blew me away to find out it was based on a true story, and it warms my heart to think you guys are keeping it going.
Phil Rodgers mine to I wish thy would make a new one
CROWN VIC!! CROWN VIC!! CROWN VIC!! I LOVE CROWN VIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet ride.....AWESOME to hear MY home town named...Lincoln Nebraska.....great story, thanks......this makes me wanna do one of these runs....sounds like a blast
10:00 Stradman : *TRIGGERED*
very impressive. as a colorado native who constantly goes up i-70, i can tell you for sure that most cars struggle to achieve 70mph, and semi trucks can (maybe) do 35. how you did 90 on those sketchy downhills and uphills was insane. great solid car and the same to the driver.
I wonder if they have to coordinate so they don't all show up dressed as Burt Reynolds?
Generally, yes.
That Ford 4.6 in the Crown is one of the most reliable and bulletproof engines this side of the Lexus 1UZFE
Great job Arne! I wanted to do Cannoball this year but the $25k entry fee just looks like it's only for rich guys. I did build a 79 Camaro for around $3k though and it would be interesting to see how it would do across the country!
People don’t realize how difficult these 80-90 mph AVG speeds are to achieve in the USA. Very impressive stuff.
You're right if your car has a modern trip computer look at your avg. Speed. My 07 subaru reads 24mph. To average 80 you have to be crazy fast
I would love to do something like this! Some street racers and I used to make it from Greenville South Carolina to Miami Beach Florida. To the Miami docs and back in one night!
Josh Jansen nope u idiot. Florida is 7 hours to drive tnrough the whole staye idiot
Ok ed. If you ever need someone with no experience to do one of these with you, I'm your guy. Also, cannonball run in a Yugo? Lol.
That would really give us an opportunity to experience the country in a different way!
Ed Bolian I have an extra Yugo shell sitting around..... wink wink.
if you ever need a wrench err tech err greasemonkey for the trip,,, let me know. wonder if rules allow a spare engine .
Yugo 👍🤪😆 why not smartcar 🖕😜
Yugo powered by a golf tdi drivetrain with wacky lemons graphics
Haha I had a p71 in high school and boy did people get out of the way! They also hated me once and if they realized I wasn't a cop lol
Love these ones
Makes me sad my height and weight was the deciding factor in this. Sorry Arne. Makes me really disappointed about the navigation error I made because I would have been in the 31:40 range without the additional 60 miles.
Dave Black don’t sweat it Dave. Your part of car history forever now either way. I’d give my left you know what to do what you guys do.
This cannonball is more relatable.
this is the best channel ever
Great Story - thanks for sharing. Moral of the story? Have a good leg wrestler on the team.
I own a 2011 crown vic polic interceptor. Man I love this car
Life can be harsh and unfair but you still made one hell of an accomplishment.
5:23 "Medical Courier" + a CB antenna. Haha! I love it! I love it so much!
I wanna do one of these
I love this channel!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much. Which video has been your favorite?
VINwiki Id say Arne growing up with the cop car... But there all great!
Three vics, lookin sick as hell
33 hrs w/ 1.5 hr of rush hour sitting? That was FAST!
Was it a bone stock Crown Vic too? It just made the whole record more amazing.
The Crucible Rally I've heard is going to be doing a similar cannonball course but it's not until 2020 and they haven't announced how to qualify.
Thanks for the info 👍
god bless that poor 4.6
Awesome story.
So if someone at the bar yells "FASTEST CANNONBALL RUN BUYS EVERYONE DRINKS!" Do this guy and Ed start arguing about whos time was "officially" faster?
Look, it's Arne!
Shout-out from Lincoln Nebraska
Great Story.
I have driven from Philly to la I couldn't imag8ne doing it in just over a day granted I'm stuck at 62 mph no matter what but still looks fun to do in a car
I have an '11 CVPI and I'll say thats a magnificent theory.
That last line is EXACTLY why I love Ed so much!
@Crossfire on VINwiki
the 24 hour of lemons :)
Incredible. I want to do this so bad.
Thinner air is what killed you in Colorado. I was stationed Lowry AFB in 1984. Had a weekend up at Estes Park when I was there. Harder to breathe, but man the scenery was beautiful.
The he described Ed, he’s got a guy on his team that’s a 30 year Mercedes tech that does everything for free of course oh my god I’m dying
unfortunately I'll never have the opportunity to drive in a cannonball. Ironically I thought it was just the stuff of legend in a few movies K Brody year or two back didn't realize it was a real thing.
Do these cannonball run competitions still exist?
officially no,events like this one and the actual cannon ball run no.
however there is gumball, which is the closest your'll get.
Good story, thanks for it. Better luck next time!
I currently live in iowa, it seems like the locals don't understand how to use the left lane. Or get out of the way of emergency vehicles.
Wish I could do this but I have a CDL A license i cant afford to loose 😔
A team of truckers should do this, it's really about driver stamina.
As always, Ed is the consummate gentleman.
I guess the moral of the story is that you should always be trained and ready for leg wrestling.

Please tell me that Subaru Loyale at 11:52 also participated in the cannonball :D
The 24 lemons 😂😂😂😂
I will second that Utah is completely dead at night. Its nice
Currently building my own panther platform cannonball car.
big flex from Lincoln NE
I'd enter with an ambulance if one was available, lights on all the way never stop for gas.
Chad Baker good idea. 2 people with 2 massive fuel tanks and maybe additional cooling system for the engine so the engine dont melt at the half way point. Also fresh water and waste water tank.
Is slow and gas hog. You wont be able to carry enough fuel even if the whole thing is full of fuel
I wonder what it preventing people from doing another cannoball run. Apparently this group seems to be the group in charge of "Cannonball Run" what is preventing anyone starting another group and going from say DC to Frisco or DC Miami to Seattle???
*STANDING OVATION*
So you guys somehow manage to make it across the country driving at a crazy rate of speed and not get stopped by the police once? Lol
The 24 hours of lemons 😂😂😂
139.9 mph max. Sounds like there was some sort of governor that could have been removed.
Ultimate cannonball car: diesel swapped crown Vic police interceptor and massive fuel cell plus dual driver controls i.e. 2 steering wheels and sets of pedals.
Prove me wrong....
Rental.mustang 😝
More Cannonball! VInwiki wheres your march?
March? Merchandise?
Where is you are march? What?
VINwiki We need Merchandise!
Really want to do this!
24 hrs of lemons lol
What is the name of the iPad app used to keep track of average time and speed? I can’t find it anywhere.
Ive seen one going like 100 mph all black with an il platr
I want to do a recreation of the flying fathers with my dad and see how far we can get without being ticketed
When I first read about the 2901 race, it seemed like a legit lemons affair. I don't know if that page is still up, but this race sounds like a hack-a-thon. Sorry, but getting a tech to do 1000 hours of free labor on your car is against the spirit of the race.
Can he stop closing his eyes.. Also he reminds me of Jimmy from Neighbors
Is there any footage of this cannonball??
Love the story
Great times!
Hey Arne if you wouldn't mind how old are you bro ?
I think he mentioned in another video that he is 42.
I would bring a galant vr4 on the gum ball sleeper and fast lol
MN_Night_Runners _ its not about having a fast car it's about having a fast team and a smart car, a twin turbo i4 is not one of those
This. The car also has to be *reliable*..
You know, you guys pretty much have a think tank. Turn it toward legislation. Pass a law that says effective immediately all speed limits on Interstates are raised to 80MPH. The long lost whalberg brother
I would have just ridden the shoulder in la because at that point in that car "fuck it"
Wow four separate video stories intersecting
hahaha, it made me laugh when he said 24 hours at lemons
The 24 hours of what? Lemons?! XD
I've heard of "oh sh*t moments" but, this "oh shit story". Lmao
I'm curious since they was in rush hour traffic in California they could have taken the streets and it would have saved them so much time
Had to research if I can enter my Buick in a cannon ball run.
"There ain't nobody in the middle of the night in Utah."
Lots of semi trucks at night now because of the eld
the real street racer since 15.
I would love to see this done in a second generation ford taurus sho maybe even a 3rd generation sho with welded cams😉

Ah yes the most unreliable car. You can make 200 miles before u get a tow
@@myes344 Buick 3800... Unreliable?
Fantastic! I love it!
Here in Europe the police are all over the place when the Gumball is taking place. Hopeless.
I would be amazing at this I’m a driver already and I hardly ever get caught speeding and I fly.
