Not a fair test. Get someone with a slow swing and see what happens. I'm 76 and my 7 iron only goes 120 yardswith a regular ball. I get 10 more yards with the max. I'm happy.
Your review is rather jaded. You hit multiple fat shots with the Max and really only hit 1 good ball. You can see it easily on shot 7. That isn't the balls fault, it's the operator. With the regular Supersofts, you hit almost every ball solid.
I play the Callaway Supersofts and played through a box of these a few years ago because I was curious. They performed just like the Supersofts, were a little easier to hit ofc of tight lies and to chip, BUT I had LOTS of lip-outs!!! It’s simple physics.
Depending on your game and current strengths and weaknesses, these may or may not help your game. For me, I couldn’t live with the frequent lip-outs.

1:47 Wow ! I have never seen a lime green Super Soft MAX ! I’ve been telling some of my friends who struggle to get the ball in the air to try the MAX I hope I was right …..
Well, I guess turns out I was wrong it’s not really that big of a difference in the two balls but all of my friends reported that they found it easier to get in here so maybe it’s a mind over matter type of thing. That was an excellent review, thanks for doing it, I enjoyed it.
I think if I would have eeked out a more true compare on ball speed, I would have given the MAX more of a fighting chance to keep up. However, I think you've been spot on with your friends, take a look at 10:08 (ua-cam.com/video/I7wb2uJUEMc/v-deo.html) in this video, hone in on the one MAX strike I had where ball speed was exactly the same between the Supersoft and the Supersoft MAX at 114 mph, I only hit the MAX at that ball speed once, but I hit the regular at that speed 3 times, and 2 out of those 3 times, the MAX flew approximately 3 yards higher than the regular.
You raise a good point though, around mind over matter, I remember my fitting from last year and I was trying to decide between the Callaway Apex and TaylorMade P790 irons, the data was pretty similar, so my fitter broke it to me that it should come down to how things look and feel, and ultimately, what I felt most confident with standing over the ball - I think many of us, including me, have an affinity for one thing over the other, even if the data is relatively the same. In my case, I really wanted to play TaylorMade irons 😁

If you want to lose distance buy this ball.
I’m using a volvik vivid lite in pink, easy to see and it’s soft. Also use an illegal volvik magma, but the magma is great off the tee but is crappy to putt, I prefer a soft golf ball for putting the volvik magma is hard, Looking for a new soft golf ball.
You just saved me money not buying the super soft max. 👍🏻
