Thanks! No lip synch, no autotune, no offstage backing track. This is LIVE, connecting with the audience in real time, with all the pluses and minuses that entails, especially late in the concert, when the voice is tired but the audience is turned up to 11.
💪😎💪🎶👍🙏💖
Overdubs though
An all-time classic. Freddie was just a master with understanding the power of his vocals and how to best use his voice.
You are so very correct. The more you see of his live performances, you can tell if the song is at the beginning, middle or end of a concert. He belts everything. Usually in upper ranges, unless his voice is tired. Then he'll still belt...but in a lower octave...always in key. When that happens (like in this song) if you listen closely his voice cracks a couple times...and Roger picks up balance.
So this performance was the final song of their Live Aid performance. They weren't supposed to even perform that show, but they got a late call and decided to go on stage. You should definitely take the time to watch the full set. He was just such a musical genius. Hands down my favorite artist of all time. Great reaction. Love your channel!!!
Very sweet! Thank you! 🤗💟 Hope to see you on my Patreon: www.patreon.com/MaggieRenee
Yes, the Live Aid 1985 performance of We Are The Champions is even better than this one
After Freddie died, I watched their Wembley concert again. I cried the whole time. I loved him in that concert. The audience gave him so much love.
Maggie, I heard somewhere that depending on what mood Freddie was in at the concert, he would often change the pitch of his vocal's willy nilly. Even the rest of the band wouldn't know if and when he was going to do this.
😊❤ I agree that there is nothing like watching someone absolutely OWN the stage!! 😅 He just loves performing and being in the spotlight!! Luv ya Maggie!! 😊❤❤
I was lucky to see the boys live during this period, more than once, 1980-1982. Freddie and all the band were at the top of their game; their best live era, and officially the biggest band in the world at that time in terms of sales.
That song was always at the end of the concert so he was tired. No one can beat Freddie. He was wonderful
Thanks, Maggie.. Freddie could not always hit those highs live, but Roger filled it.. and the entire band was fire... appreciate your reactions..
This was always at the end of the concert. If Freddie was saving his voice, Roger filled in with high notes, as you see here. Always a four man team! ❤❤
I love the dynamics he is singing with.
You committed a cardinal sin! You have to play We Will Rock You leading into We Are The Champions!
I've noticed that Freddie usually doesn't go way, way up the register in live performances - one has to pace themselves in a 2+ hours concert - I'm assuming, having never actually sang for 2 hours.
It seems like it's been a spell since you looked at Queen, but their Live Aid set is worth a watch. Arguably the best 20ish minute set in rock and roll history - with Freddie suffering from a voice ailment, no less.
Just found this channel - love the reactions.
Yesss...please do the Live Aid concert, they are fantastic! Thanks for your knowledge and support, You are a Fu nominal singer! Thanks for your reactions!
While Mercury often said that anyone who wanted to hear the studio version of a song should buy the record, the reality is that there were things (like the high note you were expecting) that he did in the studio that he couldn't reliably repeat live. The two active members of Queen have both said that Lambert can replicate what he does in the studio during every concert.
Freddie said if people wanted to hear exactly the same version on stage as on the album they could buy the record.
This was my graduation class song! I never get tired of hearing it, and I never get tired of hearing queen! May Freddie Mercury rest in peace! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Saw them on this tour at Madison Square Garden in September 1980.
This was the next to last song of the encore, or final encore if the played two.
Is usually preceded by "We Will Rock You" and followed by "God Save the Queen".
Yes Freddie had stripped down to nothing but his shorts and bandana. He had slowly stripped down from the start of the show. He started out the show in jeans with his Superman t-shirt and leather jacket.
Lucky you
I remembered you said something like it seemed like We Will Rock You should lead into another song. This is it. As you guessed as well, this is generally the finale at the Queen concerts. One of the earliest and classic hits in their catalog. BTW I am really enjoying your own performances. Your stage prescence of your with that rock and roll band at the beginning of the clips is amazing!!!! Have a b-e-u tiful day!!!!❤😀
I was lucky enough to see them twice live in 86 at Wembley stadium with my dad (he was a fan too) when I was 14 and then we liked it so much when they added a date at Knebworth we managed to get a ticket for it too. Little knowing that 87 would be the year they stop touring after Freddie came out about his illness. Still remember the shock that caused to many people at the time.
I don't think anybody can top Queen for me. You really should react to their full LIVE AID performance it's amazing and is known as one of if not the best rock performance ever! Do it Do itDo it LOL. Great reaction Maggie!!!!
The whole Montreal concert which I think is where this is from. Is incredible and I'm glad someone filmed Queen in their Prime.
Queen is The Champion, my friend…
Love your analysis and your observations. I also love the small things you point out that I would otherwise miss, especially regarding his voice management and style. Awesome!
To grasp the true breadth of the whole group’s musicianship and talent, you need to listen to the whole album of A Night At The Opera, from Death On Two Legs through to God Save The Queen
Singer, Showman, Legend and a god! Amazing reaction video as always and a great song!
Great song from one of the best bands in history.
Absolutely love Your reactions.
You are so witty and knowledgeable.
Really enjoyed it.
Keep Rockin'🎸

Scotland 🏴🎸
Please react to Queen's entire Live Aid performance. It'll be a long video but it will be worth it.
note this show is gen admin. It is not a sit there and listen show. It is a get up and move show.
For those who dont know what gen admin was: It was when all tickets cost the same b/c u could go any place u wanted at any time within the limits of the venu. This is how the Dead played to over 125,000 at Saratoga Spring in '81.
The energy of those shows were something else. U dont get it with the u have sit and listen show's we have today..
That was the last song at the Queen concert i was 1979 in Ljubljana
This song is usually paired up with We Will Rock You.
It also depends on when this concert took place. Umfprtunately, he did have some throat issues as the Aids progressed. But he was so good! He is missed.
Freddie started fully costumed and slowly stripped down as a gig went on, so you can tell this is at the end or the encore.
Please, please look at "green day audience sings queen". The audience sings bohemian rhapsody.
We just saw them and they were awesome!
Olympiacos Piraeus of Greece is always champions🤘
🇨🇦 Montreal concert was amazing !
This is played at a lot of sporting events
To this day it feels so strange not hearing We will rock you first...
One of the greatest front -men of all time.
Precisamos sempre agradecer a Mike, thank you Mike! ❤
really interesting to hear comments from a real Opera star on all this various music. Tbh, most of the songs selected I am not into, but Queen and Freddy are in a league of their own. Thru reactors like Maggie, I realize just how few authentic vocalists there are. Freddy, Ann Wilson, Tommy Shaw, Epica, Nightwish, but it's a short list of real singers. Streisand is another with voice clear as a bell.
Ahh the Queen concert finale
Thank you 🤩
have you watched the 1985 Live Aid Concert? Its said to be the greatest live rock show in history. You should watch it, its only 20 mins.
you should really check out their song One Vision. Its hilarious because they are having so much fun
Try love of my life Wembley or who wants to live from Wembley 85. Freddiefan for life!
It is one thing that I would say is maybe a regret, that I never got to see Queen live. I have seen Brian May live ( as a solo artist).
A band called Keane, well worth a look at.
We are the Champignons ^_^
Give Freddie a mike-stand and he'll work wonders with the crowd.
As others have said he was not well at this time but he still gave his all. Also you should listen to We Wiil Rock You and We Are The Champions in order to heat an anthem for its time when it came out in 1978.
What do you mean he was not well? This was recorded in 1981 years before he was diagnosed with hiv.
Im a little late but if you havent i suggest queen- show must go on
If I remember he had a 6 octave range
other bands might have hits...
Queen had hymns and created Anthems....
he really died too soon...
I'm new to your channel today and love it. With your training and insight, I would love to see you to react to David Phelps' "O Holy Night," live at the Alabama Theater. He is also classically trained and is said to be the best tenor/male vocalist on the planet. This is the best version I've heard. You will be so surprised!! Power, resonance, control. His song, "No More Nights," is the best second choice. He also has done Whitney Houston and Righteous Brothers songs.
You should check out a song by The Darkness called Last of Our Kind and see if you don't catch the Queen vibes flowing off of it in waves!
"I can't image what a queen concert is like, I can imagine it."
Uh What? Lol
You should do a review of the queen live aid concert. Is is very good.
i challenge any one to find a band that have dropped more anthems than queen
evry bloody tune is a anthem its nuts
recormend barcelona pls pls
A bit of a spoiler to read the lyrics before hearing the song. It just steals from the magic of hearing a song for the first time.
Freddy.... nuff said.
It's like she doesn't know that he has been dead for over 20 years.
He was not well. He had been diagnosed with AIDS and his voice was not what it once was but, he still sang better than most singers today. His passing was one of the greatest thefts of talent we have had. May he RIP knowing his legacy remains.
This show is from 1981. Freddie was diagnosed with HIV/Aids in 1987. In 1981, Freddie was partying, doing drugs and had a lot of sex partners. That's why he couldn't reach the high notes and plus he was smoking so he had a husky voice...
@@dinobravo852 I thought this was the Live-Aid performance. I stand corrected. Thank you for clarifying.
I was a teen in the 70’s and grew up with Queen & loved everything I ever heard Freddy sing. When he died, I cried like a baby. I’ve only ever cried when one other celebrity died, Robin Williams. You live on in our hearts darling ❤forever
@@dinobravo852 Haha lol, it's not because of sex parters he couldnt go for the high notes here. He does reach more high notes earlier in the concert, as this is the last song. He had vocal nodules, that is the biggest reason he couldnt do it.
I’ve watched plenty of critiques over the years in all kinds of music and genres. First, nobody in their right mind would ever critique Freddie. You start out by talking the words of the song which is totally ridiculous. If you gave Freddie Mercury a bad critique that would make things even worse for you. Probably one of the most creative and greatest singer songwriters of all time. I had to say something because I just couldn’t believe my eyes and I shut it off after four minutes to write this.
Best of luck as I’m signing off !
👍❤️❤️
This is one of my many favorite Queen songs. Thanks, Maggie! BTW did you just come from or are going to a performance? I ask because I got a close up of your face early on and Maggie, I've watched and enjoyed many, many of your reaction vids and say this with no fear of rejection from your soon to be millions of fans ... Maggie, you are a very beautiful woman and do not need nearly the amount of make-up you've got on. You are pretty enough to get away with very minimal make-up. Let your fans enjoy the gorgeous 'real' you! Take care and looking forward to your next video.
It's Freddie what more do you need to say?
Are you not bothering with anymore Ren reactions?
Queen is a band from Liverpool.
This song came out after Liverpool FC won their 1st European Cup club.
They are Liverpool fans.😊😊😊
Freddie once described We Are The champions as "the most egotistical and arrogant song I've ever written".
Sadly, there's no way to get close to a Queen concert any more...
Reaccion. MUSiC Gabriel. Henrique
three minutes and you just noticed he had no shirt? 🐒🙊
if this is your first reaction to the Genius of Freddie Mercury then you are not much of an opera singer and have had a very sheltered life even not trained he had the pipes and his other Love Monserrat De Caballer should have been on you list as she was a great....
Of course it's not her first reaction to Freddie and Queen
She has a posted reaction to freddy and monserrat
Freddie Mercury wasn't a true tenor. He could hit all the high notes in the studio, where he could do endless takes, but in concert, he avoided them, usually taking a lower harmony. Roger Taylor, the drummer, would often fill in the top notes for him, as he does here.
In the studio, Freddie is the best. Live, my vote goes to Roy Orbison. He could have sung opera.
Roy could have sung opera, but didn’t! Freddie did!
Yes. Always the last song. Voice is tired
Idon't like you reading the words as if they are meaningless
He didn't go up because he had been diagnosed with HIV and wasn't that strong.
No he wasn't diagnosed with hiv at this time of performance, this was recorded in Montreal 1981
Freddie was gay, that's why he was in those tight shorts and nothing else.
