I bought a fuel pump for a 96 dodge ram and a 99 dodge durango. Both Airtex pumps purchased from Global Automotive on EBay. Both installed by a professional shop, and both lasted less than 3 years before going bad.
Hi. Just wanted to let you know figured out the fuel pump problem , It helps when there is enough gas in the tank! got gas in it it works great. I think I need to get BLONDE STAR installed.but ty for the help.
If you can't lift the truck to remove the tank from below, and instead you want to tilt the bed to gain access to the pump, here is a video: ua-cam.com/video/tkOUdLId5Mk/v-deo.html I'm a woman and as able to do the job alone -- I was able to lift the truck bed (long bed) using my legs to push it up, but most men could probably lift it with their shoulders. It is a good option if you don't have a lift, or any way to remove the bed entirely. Good luck, everyone!
pump does run for a second on keyturn, so its not a wiring break.. my next thought was the fuel regulator but im not even sure I could identify it, my local autozone only sells the assembly and im not sure if the regulator would be included or not.
Hi I have an 96 dodge ram pickup. Ever since I had this truck the gas gauge shows that its empty even when I put gas. Do you think replacing the fuel pump like this video will fix the prob? Thanks
The lubricant used on the grommet is most likely silicone based. I'm thinking it was probably "Sil-Glyde" that you can pick up from NAPA for about $8 bucks. "Grease consistency stays put and won't drip off like silicone oils. Harmless to rubber and car finishes. Suggested applications: Trunk seals, rubber bumpers, speedometer cables, brake parts, window channels, hood strips and pads, rubber gaskets, and belts." In fact now that I think about it you could get away with just using those same little silicone packs part stores ask you if you want when you buy brake pads. (Just use a little bit.)
Our previous mechanic discarded the carry over portion on the top of the assembly, now we have a gaping hole in the top of the fuel pump assembly. Is it possible to buy that fitting somewhere or must we do pick and pull from a junk yard?
What can I do if I don't have a harness adapter???? My brothers truck has the 6-prong thing but the adapter on the fuel pump is a 4-prong. My dad bought the fuel pump by itself at a junk yardish place.
What is the short black cap beside the electrical connection on the new pump that is held on with a metal clip. Mine is cracked from weathering and fuel is leaking from it
truck wouldn't start so we pulled the fuel line off at the intake valve, no gas was present, listening to the gas tank no pump sounds, pulled the gas gauge assembly out, hotwired the fuel pump alone to check it, runs fine. Next?
ok now my next problem is the headlights go on and off at random. a friend said Dimmer switch. so having said that is there anything else I need tto look at before I tear the steering wheel apart, like fuse breaker anything?
ok just got done replacing my fuel pump 97 Dodge ram 1500. my problem came when reinstalling the wires to the new adaptor the red retaining clip that holds the plugs together broke. it slides back and forth but will not lock the plugs together like it should. Any ideas will help as to what to do at this point.
i have a 1997 ram 3500 v10 truck is hard to start. I have the fuel pressure test kit. I installed it started the truck and the psi is over 80 psi when I turn the key to on position the gauge doesn't move. can you give me some advise..
The fuel pump module has a filter in it; the pick-up, there is also a strainer integrated into the fuel pressure regulator in the top of the fuel pump module. There is not a filter inline between the tank and the engine.
Hi i have 2011 dodge ram slt 2500 5.7L Hemi ,i wen to mechanic he told me you need to chane the fuel filter not a pump,so where could i find the filter. plz help
hi, I'm Very Stressed with my 99 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.2 motor. I replaced the pump 2 times and my gas meter still going up & down. (The tank is full of gas but the meter is telling me that the tank is empty. Do you have any suggestions???
When I changed my fuel pump on my dodge 97. Instead of taking the roller valve from old pump I just sealed it off. Truck ran great first day. Next morning I started it up and gas is pouring out of tank under truck. Could it be because I didn't put the roller valve in New pump??????? Help
Did you ever figure this out? Our previous mechanic discarded the carry over valve and its almost impossible to find a new one. Is it possible to seal without that?
My 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 is in the shop having my pump replaced right now. It really isn't that hard to do, I just write a check for $ 650.00 and I am back and running...................
