I've watched dozens of first time reactions to this performance, and you're the first one to mention Bobby Hatfield looking so cool (3:07) sitting there like a statue, like the cover of GQ magazine. Cary Grant famously said, "Everyone wants to be Cary Grant. Even I want to be Cary Grant." Well, when I look at Bobby, I want to be Bobby Hatfield. He looks cool enough to be the next James Bond. These two had such a stage presence, they had every movement to perfection -- every gesture, every blink -- on top of having perfect vocals in their *live* performances!
Taking her to a concert to see these guys would be all you need. Singing like them is not what will impress her, its taking her to the concert. Its mood music
Another live performance - no auto tune in 1964. The most requested and played song of the 20th century! Beautiful harmony with Bill's deep baritone combined with Bobby's 3-octave range tenor. Beautiful and smooth. You will also notice that in these live performances the crowds are not screaming and yelling - they are focused on "hearing" and "listening" to the talent on stage - that is how the audiences showed respect and admiration to the singers and their talents. And you are right - they don't make songs and can't write the lyrics to match the romance songs of the 60's and 70's. Not today. Back in our day, us gals wanted to be serenated - and these guys and so many others in that era did just that!
I remember so well when they first started being played on the radio stations. We did not actually see them until later when they did television shows and concert halls. Before they were widely seen, most of us thought they must be black. It was amazing. Their sound was soon referred to as "Blue Eyed Soul". I just found your channel and your reactions were great. Your reactions were excellent and captured the true quality of the Rightous Brothers. I am pleased to be a new subscriber.
Im 70 years young and this is the music I grew up with and still love to listen to. Its November 9, 2024 and you made my day by watching you enjoy this music. I needed to see someone enjoying life today. Thank you
You dont try and compete with this... you just play it to her and she will melt. The music of our generation was so beautiful and melodic. The words were beautiful, it transcended you
I luv Bobby so much because he was outstanding even when they featured Bill. Bobby always had a surprise note to deliver. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed.
My sons used to ask me, Mom how do the Bee Gees sing like that, I told them with a serious face that their pants were too tight, and they believed me, until I couldn't hold back the laughter anymore, then they said oh Mom you're silly! Ha!Ha!Ha!
“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on a piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance. Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......
As someone who is old enough to remember the Righteous Brothers from my teen years, I love that you like them. But, damn . . . every time the song started to really build to something cool . . . you broke in. Especially that amazing back and forth . . . call and response . . . section near the end. Hearing it all in one piece is INCREDIBLE . . . but you just couldn't stop yourself from breaking into it . . . more than once. Again, I'm happy you liked it, but I found myself yelling at you because you couldn't wait till times in between the verses or choruses to break in and comment.
I'm loving your reviews. My favorite thing is that you hear all this great old music, but you understand this is all old, there's no manipulation of how they sound. Maybe your record it over and over until the sound is right, but the live plays are just pure talent.
Times were a lot gentler, calming, and sweet. I love watching all the young folks like you enjoying the music I grew up with...and that I feel is so much a part of watch people like you enjoy it.
I was lucky enough to see the Righteous Brothers in concert. That was neatly 60 years ago. It was my first concert. Still love them today.❤ Listen to them sing I Just Want To Make Love To You and Summertime.
This song "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers. Is in the Guinness Books of World Records as the most played and listen to song in radio history. That is how good this song is and how great the team of Counter Tenor Bobby Hatfield and Baritone Bill Medley were. They were great!!
And, "Unchained Melody" was the only song (same recording) to be a hit twice. In 1965 and 1980 in the movie "Ghost" gave it new discovery to the next generation. There will never was or will be, any duo as great. ::
@@dawnaberry4197 Correct! When the movie 'Ghost' (1990) came out and used Alex North and Hy Zaret's (1955) composition of 'Unchained Melody' as the movie score. Bobby Hatfield's studio version went number one in the United Kingdom.
Wow, these are my guys! I was in high school n 1964 when they came. I have all of their vinyl records in my collection. Their voices together were awesome. Listen to all of their hits!
You are so right about "times" changing. But we CAN "bring it on back"! We, as a PEOPLE have lost that lovin' feeling. You are a very wise (and very handsome) young man. You give me hope for the future of this country.
When I was a teenager 'back in the '60s, the Righteous Brothers were in the air-- literally--(just read here that this song was the most frequently played on the radio in the 20th century!) We loved that sound, and your video is bringing it all back. Yes, their voices & harmonies were amazing, but what's more amazing is the soul in those voices; no other way to describe it. I am so happy to see younger generations getting blown away by these guys!
We're sitting here thinking 'Wait for it' The back and forth battle when they step up! And your comment when you saw the background singers appear - just a note that Cher back in her beginnings - was one of them.
Shon... I was a junior in high school. Imagine how cool we thought this was. Only thing... you had to wait for your favorite song to come on the radio or run out and buy the 45. ( "...A lil' more Umph on his shit" Ya got me onna floor.)
A few things about this song. According to BMI, it was the #1 most requested song of the 20th century. Their harmonies were great. This was done by Phil Specter. He had one of his 18 year old singers doing backup. A young girl named Cher.
Bobby Hatfield was one of those rare people with perfect pitch. He could hit a high "C" note without appearing to even be trying. Not many singers can hit that note.
The Righteous Brothers were frequent guests on the ABC prime-time Rock music program, “Shindig”, which aired from 1964 to 1966. In 1964, The Righteous Brothers teamed up with The Blossoms (a female African-American singing trio) to sing a cover of the Ray Charles hit song, “The Night Time (Is The Right Time)”. The TV performance is available for viewing here on UA-cam, and I recommend that you react to it when you get the chance to do so.
If you liked this one, check out RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS "YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE" live Ed Sullivan show. You get the deep voice of Bill and the high voice of Bobby. Absolutely fantastic performance with no auto tune tricks like they do today.
I don't know if anyone else requested this... But I did.. and I sent you the link to the video. Anyways... Glad you reacted to it. Great reaction.. and glad you enjoyed!!
You are just darling! But, don't get too excited because I am an old lady. But THIS old lady knows a sweet boy when she sees one. All the best to you! Your Momma must be so proud of you!
So nice to see a young man enjoying the music I grew up with.
YESSUH😊👏🏻👍🤙🏾😄
He hits notes like that because it's called Talent!!
bobby hatfield is a counter-tenor which means high notes come natural for bobby so they high and clear and not forced sounding like a falsetto
If you wast to hear true falsetto, listen to BeeGees.
This was when music was real, no auto tune, none of that editing….just pure and raw talent

Bobby was soo awesome in every way: singing, dancing, charm, smile appearance. YOU NAME IT - Bobby had it.
"He looks cool enough to be the next James Bond." Love that!
You appreciate good music when you hear it.
Taking her to a concert to see these guys would be all you need. Singing like them is not what will impress her, its taking her to the concert. Its mood music

One of the World's Masterpiece's !!! They don't do it like this anymore ! Period !!!! Art !!

Bobby hits a note so high in "You'll Never Walk Alone" on the Ed Sullivan Show that my dog howls every time I play it!
And the final note Bobby hits when singing "Ebb Tide" is mind blowing!
Seriously? Bahaha…that’s awesome, your dog has soul! 😊😊😊
Bobby's voice came straight out of Heaven. That's how he hits those high notes!
You dont try and compete with this... you just play it to her and she will melt. The music of our generation was so beautiful and melodic. The words were beautiful, it transcended you
You can dazzle your girl with your smile alone, it lights your features with pure delight!
I luv Bobby so much because he was outstanding even when they featured Bill. Bobby always had a surprise note to deliver. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed.

Another great one! Thank you for the great reaction to another old great talent!
This is the most listened to song on radio and TV in the twentieth century .

I envy you!
Love how much you are enjoying this.
Pity poor ole me, I had to listen to this song every day during the fall of my freshman year in college. Woe is me.
I bet it was a time to be alive. Would’ve been fun to experience

drives me nuts too
A beautiful song that they did to honor all of the greats that have passed away.
Rock and Roll Heaven.
It's amazing.
Fast forward 23 years later and you can hear Bill Medley sing and Jennifer Warnes sing I’ve had the time of my life from the Dirty Dancing movie
Most awesome 💯💯💯💯 singers of all time Wild bill
Blue eyed soul at its finest.😊❤
I absolutely adore you
This Is Another Great Song
The Righteous Brothers
"SOUL AND INSPIRATION"
1966 HD
You’ve gotta listen to “In the Ghetto” by Elvis. Elvis actually grew up in the ghetto so he could truly relate to the song…just an all time classic!!
I'm loving your reviews. My favorite thing is that you hear all this great old music, but you understand this is all old, there's no manipulation of how they sound. Maybe your record it over and over until the sound is right, but the live plays are just pure talent.

looks like it could be a third time seems like it might be getting rediscovered.
This was most played song on radio in 20th century.
This song had more radio plays in the 20th century than any song in history
Our music... was RAW... real, nothing out there like it today..
Women were respected. We liked that. We miss that lovin feeling.
Great reaction! Bring back that bring it on back true love . Fight for it. Thanks for really getting the sincerity! ❤️
These guys are icons! This is the best ever! Love your reaction!
Wow, these are my guys! I was in high school n 1964 when they came. I have all of their vinyl records in my collection. Their voices together were awesome. Listen to all of their hits!
Shon, I enjoy your reactions so much. Your enthusiasm and your insights are really extraordinary.
When I was 14 years old they were my first concert. Still love them 50+ years later!
Many decades ago I took my date to one of their concerts and I can tell you it amazing for both of us! Those were the days...
Revisiting this reaction, & BOY, am I glad you don't pause the video this many times no more.
You are so right about "times" changing. But we CAN "bring it on back"! We, as a PEOPLE have lost that lovin' feeling. You are a very wise (and very handsome) young man. You give me hope for the future of this country.
Its called Blue Eyed Soul. Bobby Hatfield is a true countertenor. That's how he hits those notes.
You lived in that era. You took your girl to see these two guys. Tom Jones, Led Zeppelin. I'm 73 pure talent.
Every man has a special thing about them I think you have a tender heart ❤️.
I am 70 years old and they are still one of my favorite duos
This is music!!!
I was born 4 years after this song and it's still one of my all time favourite songs
When I was a teenager 'back in the '60s, the Righteous Brothers were in the air-- literally--(just read here that this song was the most frequently played on the radio in the 20th century!) Bill Medley, with the deep voice, is still around. Hatfield had a huge range - many octives.
Now you need to hear them sing You'll Never Walk Alone on the Ed Sullivan Show
Great song 🎉. I was in college when it came out…. Girls swooned❤❤❤❤
NO Autotune, Straight up Sangin'
My favorite song by the Righteous Brothers is Heart and Soul❤❤❤❤
Also, Elvis' "If I Can Dream." Stunning. Something we all need to strive for, especially today.

Bobby Hatfield added some of his own bits at the end while recording unbeknown to Mr. Berry but he okayed it in the end.
Check out Bobby in his solo rips his talent in the Song 'Summertime" and "Ebb Tide"
So Agree. Then listen to the early blues record where Bill Medley sings lead called "I Want To Make Love To You".
The Original Blue Eyed Soul

I absolutely love Bill Medleys deep voice
Congratulações. Belo som e reação ! Muito bom. Abraços desde São Paulo - Brasil .
If you not heard their song Soul and Inspiration, you should listen to that, this is amazing, Soul and Inspiration is beyond
You got to check out Tom Jones , I'll never fall in love again , the black and white version,
You literally hit those notes in your voice when you got excited about it. 🤣🤣🤣
Alabama. “Feels So Right”
Silly Boy! You don't compete. You let them be the opening act. Then, you go home and put on their music and let the good times roll!
😄
I don't know if anyone else requested this... But I did.. and I sent you the link to the video. Anyways... Glad you reacted to it. Great reaction.. and glad you enjoyed!!

One of their background singers was then unknown Cher.
Try Soul and Inspiration!! Pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think you will enjoy Tom Jones singing I'm Never Gonna Fall In Love Again. Women used to throw their undies and room keys on the stage!
Bobby had a tenor/countertenor range - didn’t need any squeezing 😄
The seekers . " There will never be another you ".
Also. Whitney Houstin'smother was a backup singer for Elvis in the Jordanairs.
I Miss You- Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes
Love your reaction. You remind me of the actor Esai Morales, when he played in the movie La Bamba
Love this song. Was also one of the best songs in Topgun
Check out Tommy Edward’s It’s all in the game
The backup singer on the right is a young Cher.
