This was the first time his mom ever saw him sing live in a performance. She was in the audience that night.Bobby had been sick with a cold and he was very nervous his performance would embarrass him in front of his mom. This was a part of the variety show called The Andy Williams Show. There would have been various actors and singers on.
It's called respect for the artist that's all it is Shon! His mother was in the audience with Bill Medley, the other guy, this was Bobby Hatfield at his all-time best! And the big smile at the end was because he knew he killed it! Great reaction!
This was a hit during the Vietnam War. Imagine a soldier in Vietnam hearing this for the 1st time. You'll understand why it was such a hit with troops.
Bobby Hatfield owned this song. I fell in with the Righteous Brothers in 1964. I was in high school and just had to go out and buy their vinyl record albums. Pure raw talent and no auto tunes. Both of them had beautiful voices together. RIP Bobby! We miss hearing your beautiful voice. ❤️ ♥️♥️
Audiences were strictly controlled during network TV tapings. They could not heckle the guest. They could not scream and shout. They could not give standing ovations. Those who did were removed from the building by security guards, and the segment was re-taped over again. Exceptions were given for Elvis Presley and The Beatles, because there were too many screaming teenage girls for the production and security staffs to control.
Part of what we'd need to have this level of talent back is to get rid of autotune. Back then you didn't have autotune to cover up the fact that you couldn't sing. If you didn't have the talent you simply didn't make it. Bobby Hatfield did this amazing performance with the tailend of a head cold and nervous because his parents were in the audience.
Nice job, Shon, you cracked me up with that comment, "I couldn't hit a note that high even if someone was squeezing my balls". You got a huge thumbs up for that comment.
I loved your honest reaction to this beautiful love song. You play this for your girl and she’s gonna melt right into your arms for sure. Bobby’s version is the Gold Standard and no one still surpass him! No screeching. No yammering shouting audience. Just people who actually wanted to hear him sing these lyrics better than anyone else. It’s 2023, and he’s still the BEST!!
You are so much fun to watch. I love your full throttled enjoyment of the artists and their talents. You're honest and real and truly enjoyable! Best regards to you. Respectfully submitted for your consideration Gregg Oreo Long Beach CA Etats Unis
The late great Bobby Hatfield. His voice is called counter tenor and he had a 5 octave range. Pure high notes, not falsetto. A voice like his doesn't happen very often. His partner, Bill Medley has a rich Baratone voice. Check out Soul and Inspiration, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, You'll Never Walk Alone (Ed Sullivan Show video) Rock and Roll Heaven, Summertime ( solo by Bobby)
This beautiful melody was written 68 years ago for a Prison movie titled "Unchained" (1955). The music was composed by award winning composer Alex North (1910-1991) with Lyrics by Hy Zaret (1907-2007). It was first sung in the film by Afro-American opera singer, theater and film actor Todd Duncan. Ten years later in 1965 on the NBC "Andy Williams Show. Bobby Hatfield and the NBC orchestra gave a performance that was one for the ages. It has been considered as the greatest (live) television performance by a singer and an orchestra in music history. Brilliant!
This can all be brought back,it just needs musicians and singers to put their feelings and love back in to song, what we have now is hate, bitches, hoes, money death guns etc,it's time to show our love.
It was a live performance on singer Andy Williams' tv show in1965. Andy is the one talking with Bobby and Bill. He is an excellent singer, too, who sang pop songs and ballads, mostly. I have a lot of records of Andy's and a lot by the Righteous Brothers. listen to You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling", "Just Once In My Life", and "Rock and Roll Heaven by Bobby and Bill. A good one by Andy Williams is "Can't Get Used To losing You".
I was a junior in high school. The girls at dances loved this. As you said, they thought this was sung to them and they'd hold you real tight. Later on we took this to Nam with us as one of our anthems. "I'll be coming home, wait for me."
Righteous Brothers: Soul and Inspiration, You lost that loving feeling, You'll never walk alone, Latin Lupe Lu, Summertime, B side Blues, I just want to make love to you.
I had the privilege of seeing a Righteous Brothers concert decades ago. When Bobby Hatfield sang "Unchained Melody," it sounded just like this and I got "Chicken Sin!!"
This is a live performance on a TV show hosted by Andy Williams - a crooner in his own right. Did you notice that during the opening dialogue that Bobby sounds like he is out of breath? He is: he suffers from mild stage fright during live performances, and, his Mom is in the audience first time during a live performance. Speaking of Live performance, this is in 1965 Before such a thing as "auto tune" existed. What you have here is pure raw talent with amazing breath control, pitch perfect and effortless 3-octave range tone quality. Back in the day us gals just loved listening to The Righteous Brothers as they serenated us into dreamland. This is blue eye soul. Several others have covered this song, but Bobby owns it! Many in the music business regard this as the greatest male solo of all time! Won't argue that. RIP Bobby Hatfield.
Their song "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" was the most radio played song of the 20th century. Also check out "Soul and Inspiration" as well as Bobbie's solo "Summertime". This duo defined what was referred to at the time as "blue eyed soul". And nearly 60 years later, their music still melts the hearts of women.
This became the anthem of our soldiers in Vietnam to their wives and girlfriends that they would be there when..if…they came home. Everyone automatically starts swaying when this song begins and women still love to slow dance to this song, especially with someone special!
They were on the Andy Williams tv variety show. It was broadcast live. We always watched this show. I was a teenager when this song was released. Live entertainment tv shows were standard tv fare in the 1950’s and ‘60’s.
This was a performance on “The Andy Williams Show“ celebrating Valentines Day in 1965. Bobby Hatfield here sings “Unchained Melody “ solo, he won the coin flip according to Bill Medley, which was a hit song. Back then it was heard on the radio and the 45 rpm record was bought in stores. It was actually the “B” side of the 45 rpm vinyl record. The “A” side was "Hung On You" but DJ’s apparently liked the B side better and played it.
Listen to the songs listed here, especially “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”! Also, listen to Bill Medley’s “I Just Want To Make Love to You” to hear his soul!
In the "old days", there were tv shows that featured all sorts of entertainment. We didn't have internet videos, you had to be able to get to a concert to see them. So people like Andy Williams (in this video) had tv shows. They usually spoke to the artist a bit before the artist performed. Andy acted in many comedy movies. He was funny AND he could sing! Every time I've seen the Righteous Brothers speak in such little interviews, they were very funny.
Way way before colour TV let alone mobile phones... we got our first colour TV in 1973, we were probably one of the first families to have one on our South London council estate,, oh and it was rented not owned 😂
On network variety shows in the late-1940s to the mid-1970s, when the show would have an actor, comedian, or musical guest, the show’s writers would write comedic lines for the guest/guests to read from cue cards or a teleprompter during brief interview segments on the show. Evidently, Bill Medley had trouble reading the cue cards or teleprompter, because his speech patterns did not sound natural. But the audience clearly understood what he was trying to say, and laughed at the punchlines of the jokes.
The feeling you could not describe at the beginning is a feeling of timelessness. Some songs are forever. This is one of those. Blue-eyed soul, as it was called at the time. So many people have covered this song. One that you MUST watch is Elvis' live version. Suggestion: "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye.
You wanna hear both brothers... then react to "Righteous Brothers-You've Lost That Loving Feeling" ua-cam.com/video/uOnYY9Mw2Fg/v-deo.html You will LOVE!!
This was the theme song of a movie made in 1955 titled Unchained which was about a guy in prison who is wrestling with escaping or finishing his time. It was sing by a black prisoner. It has been covered by more than 800 artist
Authentic reaction to the most stupendous live performance of all time. This version was better than the studio cut which charted twice. Best 'blue eyed soul' duo ever. Check out 'You'll never walk alone' to hear both voices and how they meld yet totally opposite. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed 1940-2003.
Bobby Hatfield had a very rare voice called a countertenor. It's the male equivalent to a high soprano. Almost all men wish this voice throughout history were Italian opera singers, but it's even more rare to have this voice without being castrated, as most male Italian opera singers were centuries ago.
Their songs were so good and played so much on the radio they used them in movies unchained Melody this song was used in the movie Ghost you've lost 11 was used in the first Top gun movie and Bill sings a song with a female singer I forget her name they sing the song Time of My Life for the movie dirty dancing
This is what we seniors called “blue eyed” soul in our day.
This was the first time his mom ever saw him sing live in a performance. She was in the audience that night.Bobby had been sick with a cold and he was very nervous his performance would embarrass him in front of his mom. This was a part of the variety show called The Andy Williams Show. There would have been various actors and singers on.
The most romantic song ever.
That was LIVE! And not edited at all..
Amazing
A vietnam era song. His voice had you feeling all those boys overseas begging the girl at home "I'll be coming home, wait for me".
It's called respect for the artist that's all it is Shon! His mother was in the audience with Bill Medley, the other guy, this was Bobby Hatfield at his all-time best! And the big smile at the end was because he knew he killed it! Great reaction!
Their music was know as BLUE EYED SOUL music!!!💯
This was a hit during the Vietnam War. Imagine a soldier in Vietnam hearing this for the 1st time. You'll understand why it was such a hit with troops.
Flawless runs, flawless performance and ur right….it’s LIVE!!!!! NO editing at all
“YOU LOST THAT LOVING FEELING” is one of their biggest hits
Bobby Hatfield supposedly had no formal vocal training at all. He was a natural.

They sang , “You Lost That Loving Feeling” it will make you cry.
My god ... 3 of the greatest male singers together
This beautiful song was used in movie, “Ghost”
These two guys were the Kings of "Blue Eyed Soul." They had lots of hits that you should check out.

Live television show. We used to LISTEN to the performers.
You've lost that loving feeling is another righteous brothers song!
30 years ago my new husband wrapped his arms around me and we danced our first dance to this song. Every time we hear it we will dance together again.
You are so much fun to watch. I love your full throttled enjoyment of the artists and their talents. You're honest and real and truly enjoyable! Best regards to you. Respectfully submitted for your consideration Gregg Oreo Long Beach CA Etats Unis
Love your reactions, brother. You get it, through the decades and generations.

Effortless! RIP Bobby Hatfield! 🙏
Unchained Melody is 🔥🔥🔥
That's what you call talent !

Summertime also amazing
you can really hear their different voices and ranges in "You'll never walk alone" on The Ed Sullivan Show
Another group you will love are The Bee Gees. Start with “Too Much Heaven”
Now you have to listen to You've Lost that Loving Feeling. They Both sing yhat one together
The audience was quiet so the TV viewers could hear the music. I love "Summertime" by Bobby Hatfield.
Best song ever. I was in high school then. So glad you recognize it young sir.
I had the privilege of seeing a Righteous Brothers concert decades ago. When Bobby Hatfield sang "Unchained Melody," it sounded just like this and I got "Chicken Sin!!"
He was great friends with Elvis. Elvis even covered this song.

Such talent. !! And tough lives AFTER they were famous.
Another Great Reaction!

This is considered one of THE best performances EVER. And I think they're right.
A live performance, and note perfect. Not a foot wrong taken. ❤🎶
Love this reaction.
You should do a reaction to Jay Black on PBS in 2011 singing Cara Mia
I thought I was tired of watching young people's reaction to this performance, but I was wrong. New sub. 🥰✌️
Great reaction young blood. ✌🙏🤜🏻🤛🏾

Its insane what he can do. 😎😎😋
I think you are remembering a past life for real!
His mom was in the udience, had stage fright, and he had a cold, too.
I like your style of reaction. Keep it up. ❤️
This song was the only one that could break knicker/pantie elastic. More children were born 9 months after hearing this.
You’ll love listening to Bobby singing Summertime, the live version from TV, vocal acrobatics is all I can describe…!

This was grandma's baby-makin' music. I mean that in the best way.
It is a TV program - The Andy Williams Show. Check out You'll Never Walk Alone to hear Bill Medley with Bobby.
That was the vibe back in those days and the auto tune was done with their mouth and voice...I was 5 when this came out.
This was a 1965 TV show.
I was just a gleam in my Daddy's eyes. Was a long time before I came along. My favorite song.
Play it again and REALLY listen! No interruptions!!
I was 8! I am SO old, but have diverse taste in music, including the GOAT's Eminem and Pac.
Wow I love this song thank you for showing it to us to see✨️
