You need to watch live version from Andy Williams show, Unchained Melody. It says by the Righteous Brothers, but it's a solo by Bobby Hatfield, the shorter blond. The most amazing song done live. His parents were there and it's said he was nervous. But you can't tell, except smile at end. 😉
The quintessential version by Bobby Hatfield ; the little shy lip-bite that gauged how much his parent's response meant to him has been proven to be utterly immaterial in scope by the overwhelming hell- yeahs by millions of listeners in the decades since.

The Brothers are a very special group that will be loved for all time as far as I'm concerned. I was only 11 when this came out, but it is not something that will never die and I am so glad of that!!
These guys were originally called "The Paramores" but in those days, there were black clubs and white clubs, and people in the black clubs thought that this was a black group, and people would say "Play them Righteous Brothers again", and the name stuck. For the recording session of Unchained melody, Bill Medley was stuck in traffic, so they decided to lay down Bobby Hatfield's track first. When Bill heard it, he refused to record his parts, because he said that it was perfect just the way it was. He later joked that he never thought that it would be a hit, and that he's been kicking himself ever since.
This is one of the Brothers greatest hits !! This song was featured in "Top Gun" back in about 1985 with Tom Cruse who played the hotshot pilot, Maverick . They have many more that you will love. Both do solos and Bobby Hatfield's signature song is Unchained Melody performed live on the Andy William show in 1965--I have to say this is the greatest live performance I have ever seen--and I'm 77 --and I still appreciate classics like these. When they first started performing they went by a different name. Then they played The Apollo Theater. Ppl were amazed because they thought they were black. The artist who performed before them and was black, commented that they sounded RIGHTEOUS. From then on they recorded as The Righteous Brothers.
Many decades ago I took my date to a Righteous Brothers concert. We had a great time and I can tell you that their songs set the perfect romantic mood. both Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield rocked with their soulful singing.

Pure soul and this was the first slow dance I got to dance to when I was a teenager: just a great song by two phenomenal singers Not brothers but they could sing 💕
The name they took happened after they performed in a club in the south and a man stood up and yelled "that was Righteous Brother!" And the rest is history. And yes they have Blue eyed soul!
Pretty sure this is the most played song on the radio in the 20th century. As a “blue eyed” soul singer myself (haha) these are one of my favorite groups of all time. Bobby was the man as a falsetto, the way he could hit those high notes!? No autotune there….and Bill Medley? Shiiiit. What a perfect combination, the way their voices blended together, perfection. I love what they used to call blue-eyed soul. The righteous Brothers definitely had it. First time watching your reactions and I loved it. Keep up the good work!
I see that other commenters have given you all the solid info. What I can add is that when I lived in Las Vegas in the mid-1990s, these guys were regulars there, and I got to see them live on several occasions. Even 30 years after the big hits, they were STILL absolutely outstanding singers, and put on one of the best shows I have ever seen. You should check out the "sequel" to this song called You're My Soul And Inspiration, which was another #1 hit for them. Rock And Roll Heaven is another great one by them.
This is how they got their name: they were singing in a club and when the crowd heard this song, someone screamed out "that's righteous BROTHER." and they took that as their name. No kidding.
Aside from their great voices, you are hearing Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" in the accompaniment. I've always loved it. Phil was their record producer.

This was a live performance from a TV show. LONG before auto tune and they were always perfect!
The name came from a comment "Those boys are righteous brothers!". No blood relation, but joined by music.
They started " Blue Eyed Soul".
This is just about the safest song, ever.
What is worse that knowing the love light has gone from your lover's eyes...?
Thanks for watching
"Unchained Melody" is must. One of the most beautiful songs ever. Please write down Nat King Cole "Unforgettable". Nat is an incredible man & it's an incredible song. incredible man.
Ok will do, you haven’t steered me wrong yet
Hey, Jennifer - great suggestions! Hope you’re feeling better 🤗
@@lynnhoffman247 Hey my friend! I'm going slowly but a little better each day. How are you feeling? I sure hope you're feeling better as well.
@@jennhurl Still hurting but pushing through. Going to rest & take my drugs all weekend LOL 😂
Nice! Haven't seen a reaction to Nat King Cole. My favorite kind of music is swing/big band. Great suggestion.
This is the most requested song in the 20th century.
I could see why amazing song
@@dubzer0649 Lovin' Feeling was the most played song of the 20th century, played over 8 million times.
Take a listen to soul and inspiration by them thanks for a cool reaction
Ok I’ll check it out
@@dubzer0649 hope so, love your input and reactions🤗👍
Give soul and high inspiration a listen
I actually reacted to that one it was great
These Great Oldies should always be shared so they will Never die. The Righteous Brothers songs were used in several movies, such as "Top Gun," "Ghost" ect... Another wonderful Artist to checkout "LOUIS ARMSTRONG - WHEN YOUR SMILING (THE WHOLE WORLD SMILES WITH YOU)" Live Performance. My children grew up listening to Louis Armstrong and now my grandchildren know his music.
Yes this was a great song more of them to come thanks for watching and commenting
This song held the record, I don’t know if it still does, for the most played song in radio history
I could totally see that
"Just" for the 29th century.
When I fell in love and began appreciating music. It was these two.
They are amazing
So they were originally called the Paramours but one night some fella in the audience was so impressed that he yelled out, "man you are righteous, brothers" and the rest is history.
Bkue~Eyed soul!!! On ALL of their songs!! Solo or together they bring SOUL!!!! ❤️🌹 OK You gotta hear Bobby Hatfield sing "Unchained Melody"!! And Bill Medelys "Will you still love me Tomorrow"!!!! FANTASTIC!! Glad you liked them!! ,❤️ Get into their music & please pass it on !!!! They are Timeless!!! ENJOY!! I'm still thunderstruck by them in the day.& STILL today the thrill.my ears!!! Blessed pure Talent!!! Amen!! 🥰🌹❤️🙋🏻♀️
Loving the righteous brothers
The Brothers are a very special group that will be loved for all time as far as I'm concerned. I was only 11 when this came out, but it is not something that will never die and I am so glad of that!!
Yes they are really special I really enjoy there music so far and those voices wow 🤩
I couldn't agree with you more. Have a great day and enjoy the music!!
I f**king love this song, I love unchained melody too, but this one is my favorite... it will never die. Peace.
So glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching. I appreciate you
This is one of the Brothers greatest hits !! Thanks, Cathy
One of the backing singers is a young lady called Cher.
Didn’t know that
Zero Autotune.
Which makes it way better
Their nickname is Blue Eyed Soul.. 👍❤️
Yea I can see why
@@dubzer0649 thanks for the response .. I enjoy watching your videos !! You’re doing a great job !! 👍❤️
@@randipearson4930 I’ll always do my best to respond I wouldn’t be here without you guys.
Thanks so much for the compliment I am really trying my best to bring you guys good vids so hearing that means a lot
You need to really visit the 60's. Great music for dancing, listening, and living. Look at the way they're dressed, walking class.
Any particular band?
@@dubzer0649 Anything by groups in early 60's is pretty good.
I saw them live in 1965 at the Coliseum in Memphis Tn. They were awesome, and brought the house down. One of my great memories, yes, I'm old.
That’s super cool that you experienced it though would of loved to see that
The best thing about the Righteous Brothers is that they've got that spul that unites all races.
I love watching these songs.
I remember watching my Mom and Dad dancing to this song and they even use to dance in the grocery stores when this song would come on in the stores. People use to watch thrm dance til it was done.
I miss them so much.
Dad passed in 2007 and Mom in 2014...
May they RIP
I’m glad I could bring you a little joy and memories
When they first started performing they went by a different name. Then they played The Apollo Theater. Ppl were amazed because they thought they were black. The artist who performed before them and was black, commented that they sounded RIGHTEOUS. From then on they recorded as The Righteous Brothers.
That story is amazing and makes them even more amazing
Many decades ago I took my date to a Righteous Brothers concert. We had a great time and I can tell you that their songs set the perfect romantic mood. both Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield rocked with their soulful singing.
Baby making music lol 😂
They def knew how to set the mood
Janis Joplin’s “Ball & Chain” Live at Monterey Pop is amazing. She leaves everything on the stage.
Ok I’ll check this out thanks for the recommendation
Janis Joplin - Cry Baby
Her best!
That one is awesome!
Right on
It still amazes me that there is people out there who don't know this song, sad really
Yea I never listened to anything but rap until just a months ago that’s why I haven’t heard it
@@dubzer0649 I don't mean to be rude but would you mind me asking you a question ?
That's why it's wonderful to have sites like this so that people that have never heard this music are able to. Without a site like this, they might never know of it much less enjoy it!
the 1960's are the birth era of rock and roll. you're really missing it if you don't check it out.
More of the 60s to come
Bill Medley still tours and sings. He still feels that soul. :-)
Wow that’s awesome
How old is he now
@@dubzer0649 Bill is 78.
Interesting fact: Cher was a back up singer on this song before she started her singing career solo or with Sonny.
Wow didn’t know that thanks for the facts
That's what I thought. I believe she's the one on the far right end in the black dress with white trim and dark hair.
There were backup singers?
Pure soul and this was the first slow dance I got to dance to when I was a teenager: just a great song by two phenomenal singers
Not brothers but they could sing 💕
That’s cool and yes they can really sing love those voices
The name they took happened after they performed in a club in the south and a man stood up and yelled "that was Righteous Brother!" And the rest is history. And yes they have Blue eyed soul!
Pretty sure this is the most played song on the radio in the 20th century. As a “blue eyed” soul singer myself (haha) these are one of my favorite groups of all time. Bobby was the man as a falsetto, the way he could hit those high notes!? No autotune there….and Bill Medley? Shiiiit. What a perfect combination, the way their voices blended together, perfection.
Great react btw! Especially when Bobby starts to kill it at the end. Thank you Phil Spector and your “wall of sound”!
Amazing group love the righteous brothers
They're not brothers but we're best friends.
This is the most listened to song of the 20th century.
Love the righteous brothers
Big Bill Medley is still alive and going strong. His little "brother" died almost 20 years ago.
Man that’s so sad
Bill Medley died in September of 2020.
Not accurate. Bill's wife died in 2020, but he is still alive.
Correction they where not real life brothers ..... they got their name in Vietnam when they where singing too an all black platoon .... somebody hollered out ya’ll are Righteous..... Brothers ...... that’s when they became The Righteous Brothers
I'm pretty sure Alex knows that which is why he put "brother" in quotes
I love what they used to call blue-eyed soul. The righteous Brothers definitely had it. First time watching your reactions and I loved it. Keep up the good work!
Yea they def had it 100%
Find all the Righteous Brothers b/w vids and start from there. Unchained Melody. Soul and inspiration.
Actually have done both search for dub Zer0 Righteous brothers
This is the #1 Most played song...of all time. Thank you for keeping it there. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
I see that other commenters have given you all the solid info. What I can add is that when I lived in Las Vegas in the mid-1990s, these guys were regulars there, and I got to see them live on several occasions. Even 30 years after the big hits, they were STILL absolutely outstanding singers, and put on one of the best shows I have ever seen. This song was the most requested and played song on radio and TV in the 20th century, and was a MASSIVE hit.
No kidding.
That’s so cool 😎
I love these boys
These guys are great listen to soul and inspiration. Also unchained melody.
Will do
Soul and inspiration and Unchained melody.
Aside from their great voices, you are hearing Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" in the accompaniment. I've always loved it. Phil was their record producer.
This was a great song and the righteous rot here were one of a kind
Thanks for watching this and commenting
Bro would flip his lid watching the video for Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock
!!
Ok I’ll def check out some Elvis
@@dubzer0649 or Suspicious Minds Vegas 1970...lol.
Actually, the "Wall of Sound" was created by Phil Spector.
Recognize this was done live and before tone correction. No second takes, no filters, just talent.
