Warren is one of my all time favorites and one of the nicest guys ever. When I was 14 my dad took me to my first ABB show and we were front row center and I was really having fun and Warren noticed me and asked me if I wanted a shirt and told Dickey to get me one and they both signed it and walked right to the end of the stage and threw it right to me AND both gave me picks! From that time on he became one of my greatest heroes ever. I still have a Rotosphere on my pedal board to this day because of him. Larry Carlton levels of phrasing. Duane Allman levels of melody in his solos. That's Warren Haynes in a nutshell. One of the best to ever do it. Period.
You’re probably the easiest business owner to support. I’d say the same about Jamie Stillman. I’ve always appreciated how you seem to lift up the community of pedal builders rather than always showcasing Wampler gear exclusively. Really proud to own your products. Cheers!
Great! I’ve been friends with Warren for over 30 years and he’s one of the nicest guys on the planet! I could nor would never say a bad word about him! Never forget Farmer! I miss that guy!
That is so great you scored an SLO-100! I hope to someday own one. I would put the SLO up there with the greatest guitar amps of all time. What's even cooler is that Mike is just a genuine person (like everyone at Wampler Pedals). He's a self-taught amp builder, and he built the SLO in a completely unorthodox ("non-textbook") way compared to his contemporaries in the 1980's. What he gave us was a unique and amazing product. Brian has expressed that he's self-taught as well and has given us unique products with different takes on pedals than what "everyone else is doing." Even his bluesbreaker and tube screamer pedals are significantly tweaked to be unique...not mere clones. It just goes to show: if you are driven and passionate about something, work hard (there is no substitute for this) and chase it down. All the best to you and your crew, Brian! You guys are easy to root for!
I keep watching this over and over. BB2 & BB3 I never would have figured, but makes sense when you have such a distinctive tone. Neck pickup lead tone Im talking about.
Warren’s tone is as big as his heart and that’s frickin’ huge and warm ! Eric had some big shoes to fill with Farmer’s passing and he’s doing a fantastic job ! ✌️❤️🎸
SLO 100 and a lucky 13 cab OMG that magic tone !!! Only had a few minutes with it but what a stack 🤘🏽I’ve been chasing the memory of that tone for years
..Brian Wampler's a stand-up guy ...very passionate about his pedals , and refuses to release a pedal until it's dial ed in perfectly with whatever tone and feel he's shooting for ....couple years ago due to financial struggles , I had to sell my pedal board.......LSS , next purchase I'll probably go back all Wampler ....and have zero issues with that move .... because again Brian Wampler bleeds honesty , passion and integrity .......ps Warren Haynes is great , all around ...he's a friend...
The Sweetwater event looked like it was going to be a really fun event. It's still really refreshing that so many of the pedal makers seem to have a mutual respect and admiration for one another. It makes me want to support everyone, but my pedal board isn't big enough (and I'm running out of shelf space haha). Still love my Tumnus, some day I'll pick up an Ego when I feel the need for some compression
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule at GearFest to have a one-on-one conversation about gear. I’ll be getting the Ego compressor pretty soon.
The complement of guitars and complication of amps and effects is only for the tone chasing guitar hounds . With all that, great presentation . Engineering a rig is a live and learn process for any guitar player, especially on tight budgets . Cheers 11/21/2021
Warrens tone is tough to achieve even with identical gear. But, I found on a budget, a Vox HW AC30 jumper with TS808 pushing into a Wampler Euphoria is all over it. Of course there are other routes but that was one of mine from back in the day. Now with a Hand wired JTM45 and the Vet V2 by Thorpy I’ve finally Found my own tone
I first met Warren over 35 years ago when he played in a David Allen Coe’s Band. Then 15 years later some friends and I got to hang on his bus with him and Woody. We had a great time and a great conversation.
Mikey Houser, RIP, original widespread panic guitar player usedSoldano SLO 100 mega lead sound! He preferred telecaster plus deluxe and made them sound so good! Brian, check his tones out. His clean sound, with use of volume pedal, is amazing. Has a country rock feel that I think you will like. Check out some live footage from late 90-00's if you're curious. :)
Brian, Warren’s Soldano was modded by Mike (Soldano) for a warmer sound/tone! The tone stack is different. Mike told me like 25 yers ago what he did.. but that was 25 years ago and I really don’t remember.
Peter is one of the coolest guys on Earth Makes great pedals as well as monster amps I'm tempted to see if he would upgrade my 100 watt Tonemaster seeing as I would have to save quite a bit for one of his amps but SO well worth it Genius and he fixed one of my Diaz pedals for next to nothing Class Act
For the drum delay sounds on live Dark Side of the Mule shows (like on “Time” and “Shine on You Crazy Diamond”), anyone know if Warren is using a real Binson Echorec? Or getting the delay from a pedal (like a Boonar or Catalinbread Echorec). Love that delay sound - I can’t find any information on it anywhere. Thanks!
Eric handed me a setlist over a pretty large group of people last time i saw Mule. They are my favorite band and i didnt think anything would top standing front row all night till that happened lol
Ever wonder why we never see them so-called high profile guitarists personally any guitar community UA-cam shows? The buck stops around the G4 type, but you know, Eric Clapton, EVH, Jimmy Page, Slash.. etc.
I was hoping the tech would talk about why warren has some of his neck pickups flipped and some not. I know why other guys do it, but still would have been cool to see/hear how Warren came to like it on some but not others.
My pedalboard? Well, I am glad you asked! I have a 100% Wampler board. A Sovereign and a Plexi Deluxe, then an Ego Compressor, then an Ethereal delay/reverb (best delay ever made) and I balance it all out with an EQuator (best EQ ever made) It all goes into a Bravado head and matching 1x12 cab. Expensive? You bet. This ain't no game folks, I do this shit for a living and studio grade effects are like a scalpels for a surgeon, or wrenches for a mechanic. If Wampler made a guitar I would own it too. I also have other pedals they're just not on my board right now. I bought everything except the head/cab from my local GC in Castleton Indy where I have seen Mr. Wampler himself. That gives all my pedals some mojo you can't get from anywhere else! lol Love 'em!

Now that's a guitar collection- you think he's a Gibson fan- maybe? He could retire on that collection alone man- not that I don't like his playing- I haven't heard Govt. Mule in forever but I used to really get into them back in the 90s. I saw them play in Huntsville AL one time- at a place called the Tip Top cafe. They were just starting out- and there were two other bands that played a lot of the same shows at the time- Walk the West and Will and the Bushmen. They were all really good but, Govt. Mule was better- and they made it while the other two fell into obscurity. That was '94-'95 right in there somewhere- grunge was in its heyday but there was a big push for southern rock bands as well- Tesla, The Black Crowes, Govt. Man, I miss it- I was young and stupid enough at the time to think I was going to be a rockstar myself. LOL- Actually I think some part of me knew that wasn't going to happen- but it was damn fun to pretend. Still is but, now I have to do it while no one is looking- I'm too old now. You can get away with it when you're young- but if you don't give it up by age 35 or so- and you're still playing local parties- you start feeling out of place. Especially when you just played some Sound Garden and some kid is like "Why do you play so much classic rock?" my reaction was "Huh?" LOL Seriously, I remember just being like "What is he talking about?" It seems so odd to me to consider Sound Garden classic rock- but they do play it on the classic rock stations now. Weird.

I built a clone of the cae buffer, and purchased a car jangletone II buffer/pre because of this video... 😂 Thank you Mr. Wampler!
Warren’s 97 Les Paul Elegant with the abalone inlays is absolutely beautiful! Maybe the most beautiful Les Paul ever made.
Indeed.
I agree. Warren has one of the best tones I've heard live. Following his career since the 80s.
I started having flashbacks when I saw that CRATE amp. But I had (and still have) my proco rat from 88. God bless my parents for putting up with it.

I was looking to replace the Digitech DL8 I have on my board with something cooler. Seeing one on Warren's board made me feel better.
Fun fact:
If you look at the truss rod cover on the 12-string LP, it says 'TOLV', which means 'twelve' in Danish. Wonder if Warren knows that :)
Wait....a mistake at the Gibson factory???
No, two!! 🙈

Why is the SG neck pickup backwards?
Great video!!!
I wanted so badly to attend and just couldn’t afford it.
Good Run Down
Now I really regret not coming to gearfest. 🤨 I didn’t really know what it was gonna be like, so I didn’t make the trek.
guitar tech is awesome!
Looking at Warren's gear here will do more for Gibson than Mark Agnesi has. I also like that one cab has GT-75's.
So how about a UA-cam contest where the prize is to win your SLO100? Please?
Lol, nope!

Hopefully i get to rock or with him... Almost All my guitar mentors are gone... between he Joe Banamassa, Eric Clapton.. One day hopefully
