I don’t think most know who Wes is… he’s a fucking killer player, brilliant song writer and an incredible showman… those who don’t know whom he is are missing out…
absolutely and the fact he ran through all of his shit and didnt just have a tech explain it shows how passionate he is, no disrespect to his tech but usually with these vids the techs give the run down
He doesn't seem nearly as "strange" as his reputation seemed to be back in the day in this setting at all. Wonder if people drew conclusions based on his eye catching stage presence.
Wes Borlands playing aside, I always love to see interviews with him because he seems very honest and down to earth. You can tell that he really does appreciate everything his guitar tech does for him and does see him as a friend in the process. Hell yeah, Wes. Keep it up.
I think I am not the first nor the last one to say this but This dude is criminally underrated... And to think that getting his sound implies having expensive yet powerful gear not to mention that it seems like a pretty complicated circuit that even his tech gets confused with some bits and pieces of info.

Wes you have no idea how long we have been waiting for this, as a player who isn’t very knowledgeable on the tech side of guitar you give me the inspiration to learn and improve my craft, I’ve been playing over 20 years(almost my whole life) and I just lost my wife and music has been my sanctuary, this video is gold thank you STL and Wes
This is what's crazy to me. His rig is pretty much unchanged since the early days. Back in the day the last two pages in the Guitar World magazine was dedicated to Guitar players' rig setups. Wes was one of the players featured. So it's crazy to me that people didn't know how rig and yet it's been public knowledge since at least the early 2000s.
@@TheDeadStretch so and so, the Jc120's and the two girl painted box, Ibanez Cf7 and Boss Ns2 are the same, aswell for the A/B approach but over the years it changed quite a bit(atleast from 2001), amp, pedal wise and how he order it from back then. Even since the reunion it changed. He had back then that massive Rack, 3 Rectifier heads, a tremoverb combo, 3 Mesa OS (one of them is in the video) and 3 Jc120, where one cab and Jc where in an Iso Box. What a tasty treat of a video. Seems like this was filmed back in May 2023 at Wembley Arena... I personally attest that this rig sounded damn fine that day. I had always wondered if the 5150 IIIs and the VH4 were blended or used for different songs.
He is keeping it real and personal at all costs... no Fractals , Kempers and other bullshit . You come to listen to the artist and you get the real and huge sound of Diezel and EVH amps . I've never been a fan of their music but I have a lot respect for their solidity during live shows .
Actually an amp is just 1-2 presets. Twinkering with profiles and preset chains and making your own sound like that is actually more personal and unique but i get what you mean. He has money to carry all of this shit. Most musicians cant even pay for their bus fare to arrive to the gig.
Went to a show live (loserville tour) and they know how to have fun. If you don't take the music too serious and just enjoy the atmosphere and the people having a good time, it's one of the best concerts I've been too. (Admittedly a pretty big fan of their music tbf).
wes fucking rules. amazing tone, crazy gear head, some of the best riffs of all time. dude does it all from crazy experiemental going nuts with effects to the most basic caveman bounce riff that you go "why didnt i think of that" but it always takes a true genius to figure them out in the first place. wes should be your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist.
One thing you can’t deny about Wes, he is a passionate and consummate professional through and through. I’m not a big LP fan but I’ve been a fan of his for decades. Such a unique and innovative artist
It took a long time for me to understand that he is a true artist. Always thought the costumes and body paint were gimmicky when they first came out, but I later realized that was just his visual art side coming out. He has a really unique and unorthodox approach to guitar, and an cohesive aesthetic that seems to underly everything he does. Dude has many so many banger riffs, and deserves more recognition as a rockstar.
Loving the efficiency and character of Wes' setup (I can imagine that his iconic tone has been stewing in the melting pot for decades😎) and it's really an amazing opportunity to see a breakdown of the tangible amalgamation of that. I really appreciate the emphasis on frugality throughout his setup tour, and having resonated with that - I was even more delighted to see that he's rocking a Tudor Black Bay on his wrist. Classic, elegant, superb choice for an everyday timepiece that (relatively speaking) is an affordable asset and a cracker of an everyday watch. Respect! I love coming across icons of industry who have the wealth/sponsors to just throw money at stuff for the sake of it, but don't. They remain frugal and pragmatic (much like the way I was raised) and I really value that. Just the vibes I'm getting from this short clip and the info Wes has given us - It's the "what I have is worth a whole lot to me because it's mine, I am going to take care of it and see it go the distance because I love what I've created and I worked hard tp be able to attain and build it" mindset. Fix rather than replace, optimise logistically to avoid unnecessary overspend, it's just him and his guitar tech kludging their way through any challenges that may arise like two brothers/friends - rather than a purely business transaction void of passion. Stay humble my dude!! 😄 Love from Namibia!

Yep, first heard them live supporting Korn in the UK. Just before $3 bill y’all came out. When they played “Faith” people thought they were taking the piss for the beginning til the chorus hit, it went heavy, and me and everyone else in the place lost their shit. Brilliant!
I used to tear his live pics out of circus mag and tape them on my wall with others from that time. Nice to see him still jamming along all these years later

I freaking dig when an artist comes in and not only explains their rig, but they also actually know how it works for them. At this level they could get a pass & let the tech take all the really nerdy technical questions, but when the artist whose of Borlands range you know there's gonna be some whacked out stuff to explain. And those painted cabs are gonna eventually sell for huge money if he ever decides to go the Alex Vanhalen route and auction his old stage gear. ANY of those cabs would look great in my studio!
