As a guitarist for over 26 years I can say Warren has pure taste in everything he plays. One of the most under appreciated guitarists ever.
I'm 69, and I have taken my influences from a wide range of music/players. Warren is one of my top 5 all time favorite players/singers! He has also taught me a lot, and he doesn't even know it! If you see this my friend, thank you so much for everything!! 8) JMHO --gary
I enjoy hearing Warren Haynes talk music almost I as much as I enjoy hearing him play music.
Same
Amen, Brother!!!
RIP Brian Farmer
❤❤❤❤
I'll echo that. Talked to him a bit online over the years and he was always such a cool guy who took time to answer questions. It was extremely sad when we lost him
I think I just heard the best piece of advice I've ever heard. As musicians, we need to remember how to listen to music as non musicians. The depth of that statement is huge.
When I was14 years old in 1996 my dad took me to my first ABB show and we were front row center and I was having the time of my life! Well Warren noticed me there and picked me out to a security guy and went and told Dickey he wanted to give me an Eat A Peach shirt and him and Dickey signed it and walked right to the end of the stage and picked me out and tossed it right to me along with a couple of guitar picks! I still remember that moment like it was yesterday and Warren is still one of my all time biggest influences and I've had a Hughes and Kettner Rotosphere on my board for almost 20 years simply because he uses one as well. He's one of the all time greats. Forever. Period. I've seen him live multiple times with ABB and Gov't Mule and he brings it every time. I couldn't even begin to guess how much time I spent in my bedroom learning everything I could on the Dose album and I saw them open for Skynyrd back then and they absolutely murdered Skynyrd. The original Mule took absolutely ZERO prisoners. They killed! Long live Warren Haynes!
What a great, wise and humble musician 💯
Hands down my favorite guitar player. Met him years back. Even signed a PRS guitar for me. I gigged that guitar 3/4 nights a week for years to come afterwards.
One of my favorite players and a real gentleman. My son is is a huge fan and we met him on his way into the Beacon at am Allman Brothers show, he took the time to talk to my son who was thrilled. A real down to earth guy.
There’s easily $1,000 worth of advice in this 17 minute video. Fantastic.
I've been seeing this guy for decades, but never heard an interview. I am so glad he is this cool
Love Warren!!! Love how he always try to help aspiring musicians with his words and thoughtfulness… knowing we’re all on different journeys and abilities! 😄
Seeing Govt Mule playing the day Greg Allman died is one of the most amazing musical experiences of my life
The older the violin the sweeter the music dead on thanks Warren for all of your talent and music
When one of my decade older friends says "Yeah but you missed Jimi or Duane" i ALWAYS respond, " Yeah but I've got Warren n Derek".....
That shuts'em up!!
Amen to that! Actually, Warren and Derek played together longer than any other ABB combo. They were Fierce Duo!
Wow! I would never have thought that Warren was a Yes fan and is appreciative of Steve Howe’s technique and talent.
Love this guy as a player AND a human. A National Treasure indeed.
"...from your own satisfaction, when you find people you can play with, your life just gets so much better". Deepest respects to this great human.
I absolutely love this man. I completely understand everything he says and it reassure me that I’m on the right course with my guitar playing.
His sense of touch , feel , melody everything is so heavenly good. Love his tenure in Almighty
Allaman brother band. He is one of the most prominent player in the history of rock. When I think of southern rock band I think of
Warren Haynes Totally underrated
Warren is definitely an American Treasure!
He knows all the chords
I'M AT A LOSS FOR WORDS ONCE AGAIN...
Warren is one of my favorite players. I've seen with the ABB and Government Mule and his tone is amazing! That neck pickup tone from his Les Paul is THE BEST as far as I'm concerned and his playing is so tasty. 👍👍
Excellent interview! Thanks Warren !!
Pause for the cause. What a perfectly awesome way to put it.
Glad that Warren has lost weight. We need him around
This interview was phenomenal.
This is so good..love u Warren
Rest in piece B.F
Very cool Big 5! Warren is a great player and a real gentleman musician.
Killer guitarist, musician and one of my all time favorites! You look like you lost some weight too Warren and you look healthy man. God bless
Exactly what I’d expect from Warren. Great interview. Everything he says makes complete sense.
This man is very articulate!
Hi Warren;
I have a 72’ Lipstick pick- up Les Paul and I love it. It is very heavy! Enjoyed Your Work w ABB.
I’ll never forget Warrens solo from Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad with Clapton and Derek Trucks. He nailed it, I think he was using a Diaz amp.
I read your comment and I could hear that solo in my head! One of Warren’s best solos.
Warren is a true master of guitar.
Steve Howe's thinnish tone melded perfectly with Chris Squire's huge thick bass tone. Best Bass tone ever, by the way.
That was a heap of wisdom and explained well.
Love W.H.,awesome player & 1 of the hardest working musicians out there
Saw Warren front row in this tiny club. Just unreal.
One of the all time greatest guitarists! I’ve seen Warren play several times with different bands and he’s always amazing. I love what he says in this interview. Good stuff!
"Real" is better than "good" every time.
I don't really care how good your technique is, or how great your tone is or how clear your amps are, what get's me every time is some one's real passion and love for the piece they are playing. It is where the heart of music lives. Warren has always exemplified that and it is why I've have always been a big fan. Cheers brother.
Thank You Warren for this great interview, and for the many tears of inspirational music you have given us.
"How Ya Doin'?"
Warren you are definitely at the top of my list for favorite guitar player and singer, to me you and Gregg Allman can't be beat
One of the things I love about Warren's playing is his phrasing, especially playing slide. He said it well; it helps coming from a background of singing before playing. You gotta take a breath once in awhile...🙂, unlike the shredders some consider great guitar players.
Warren… you rock!!
Thanks Warren very informative. You are a great talent.and look forward in seeing you soon.
My favourite guitarist. Legend.
It's great when somebody who knows... Tells Ya...
He is my mentor. I was lucky enough to meet him years ago. Brian Farmer was a friend as well. Warrens the master.
Glad to see him thinner. He got huge. Started to worry. Rock on.
There’s our Guitar PhD! Thank you Dr. H!
Like this dude he's himself honest aware ninto more than himself matters old timer cool old head
Holy crap!!! i got That Willie Dixon box set for Xmas when I was 15 and it opened my world… I went from zeppelin to that and down the rabbit hole and never came back. No regrets.
I am new to Warren but am really impressed! I love the Tone and energy he has. Big Fan Warren and Cool Name
Respect in bucket loads. Stay safe all. 👍+1
Great insights from this man. Love his take on what music is really about in the end.
Warren had a big influence with his tone and playing with my style for 30 yrs. 🎸
Why am I so not surprised at Warren citing Steve Howe and Yes. But I'm so glad that Warren followed his own voice.
I just purchased a 2021 les paul standard and love it,the new team at Gibson are making a good guitar this is their 3rd year in charge at Gibson and have been watching guitar reviews over those 3 years and liked what I was hearing so I got my cherry burst standard. It ROCKS
Good for you! Play on!
I agree, Ray. I bought a 2020 Les Paul Standard '50s new, and the set-up was perfect right out of the box. Tuned it up, plugged into a Marshall, and got that HUGE sound that defines guitar rock.
That was a great video. Thank you, Warren.
One of the greatest
In others interviews, he's mentioned 60's Clapton as a major influence over and over again. Interesting...
Warren Thank You
I'm going to go and play right now , you are such a inspirer , thanks for all the great music and inspiraton .
Oh yea, how did you like
Twelve dreams of Dr. Sardonicus by spirit.
Love Randy California
Warren is In my top five along with Gary moore, Rory Gallagher, joe bonamassa, slash which ain’t bad company to be in.
Would love to hear him do a project with Marc Ford. That guitar duo would be mind blowing
@@jamesperryman6433 yes that would be something very special. Would love it if it happens one day.
wRRWNYOUR LOOKING GOOD BROTHER KEEP ON KEEPIN ON ....THANKYOU FOR THE MUSIC
"Pause for the cause" is so clever. If nothing else does, that's going to stick with me.
So down to Earth.
Don't know who this guy is(just watched because I'm a Les paul preferer)but he's 100% right about people not giving a f@#£ about a snare drum sound etc!
Warren Haynes is one of the hardest working musicians out there. He's played with tons of bands. Check him out with Government Mule to start.
Who in Gods' name could not love Warren. He works so hard, in different styles...ABB,Government Mule The Dead. Wake up haters. You are clueless! And he is a humble Sweetheart. Anybody who can go toe to toe with the likes of Derek Trucks, Dickey Betts, and the Dead, should go straight into every hall of fame that there is. He is just amazing.
One of the all time great living guitar legends along with Gary Moore Rip, Jimmy page and Joe bonamassa. I could go on but theese three are my favourites.
this is great!!
LOL....I love that Willie Dixon Box Set....that is a bit of cheating, but for my dollar...I totally agree. I have those CD's in my truck and bust those out all the time. Good call Warren.
Really enjoyed this. Thanks Warren.
So awesome! Thank you, Warren! 👍😎❤️
Awesome thanks Warren I respect your opinions and wondering if you prefer the Classic 57's over the stock Burst Buckers Hey thanks man Stay safe during the Holidays
good interview. Thanks
Solid guy, great interview!
Do'nt forget anout Dickey !!!
Thanks for this!
Well said, thanks.
I luv my gold top Les Paul. It's a Duane Allman tribute. Smooooooth and creamy.
Hey Premier Guitar! Can you guys get with Kenny Wayne Shepherd while he's touring and do a more recent "Rig Rundown"? PLEASSEEEEEEEE?
Why are you on like every video I watch?!
For the drum delay sounds on live Dark Side of the Mule shows (like on “Time” and “Shine on You Crazy Diamond”), anyone know if Warren is using a real Binson Echorec? Or getting the delay from a pedal (like a Boonar or Catalinbread Echorec). Love that delay sound - I can’t find any information on it anywhere. Thanks!
An actual great guitarist.
Warren fkn rules man
Nice! WooF!!
There isnt any other guitar that sounds like a Les paul. And yes,, they are pretty heavy..
He's a good egg
Really cool comment, small wattage amps do the job whereas, a higher wattage amp loses the spirit of what you're trying to achieve.
Steve Howe ....Yes.....cool brother
i love it . hope to play w u someday. Miko Tulsa,Ok
Wisdom.
Tf would downvote this?
The whole 59 Les Paul silliness is vomit inducing…..
I went and saw a shitty band play an outdoor summer show and the guitar player, and I use that term lightly, spent 1/2 the show fiddling with his pedal board and for us, it changed NOTHING! I hope this clown can see this...... Love ya Warren. Saw the Mule live and my friend Mike and I are still deaf 😜
Warren is always a class act! 🤘🏻🎸
Warren is tops on my list- incredible tone and melodic phrasing, ordered the Mule’s new album “Heavy Load” and can’t wait to get it!
Most humble guy in the music business. Met him after shows a couple times and just a sweetheart of a man. His guitar tone is to die for. The guys is the total package guitar playing, singing and a underrated songwriter, the guy writes amazing tunes!
The Warren super strum
Love this guy
He's like the Santa Claus of jam bands. Lol
He def takes time out of his day to greet and interact with fans with a smile and handshake.
Amen on the comment that he’s an underrated songwriter !! I agree 1000% !!
Everyone knows he’s a great guitarist and singer . He’s an amazing songwriter …..
It’s amazing how the Allman Brothers Band has had some of the greatest guitarists of all time in the band like Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Jack Pearson and Dan Toler. All are legends.
Don't forget Jimmy Herring
