- Опубліковано 19 жов 2020
- Today we're bottom bouncing for steelhead using roe bags. We're tying our roe bags on the spot using a new product that lets us tie a roe bag in seconds without any tools. We're using an orange mesh and shortly after casting out, we land ourselves a beauty!

As always until next time, good luck and good fishin'! - Спорт
You got to love the sound of that drag purr on that run. Awesome.
I caught a trout on stingeye spinner size 3 gold at the whirlpool
Gorgeous fish!
Hello IVO . . .
Wishing you lots of luck adding your new roe bag product to your list of fishing merchandise items,
OMG . . . that Steelhead realy gave some excitement in this video even hearing the sound of the line being
zipping off the reel, that alone must of made you have goose bumps I bet because it sure would made me
feel that way, what a huge Steelhead - wish you could of tool a quick weight and length before setting it
back in the water unless you might of thought to let it go right away, very good video - keep'em coming .
Congratulations on that nice trout with your new roe bag.
Great video as always guys!
Nice video Ivo!
Well done.
I haven't caught one yet. Nice video to have in my morning.
Hey ivo, great video once again.
Awesome video Ivo. What a fight! Gotta try me some of those bait pockets.
Really hope that you could make your video a little longer, 20-25 minutes would be better. 10 minutes is really too short. So, we can enjoy more and learn more.😊
Beautiful fish Ivo. I have the same net as you and I love it!
Every body gets a snag one's in a while. Nice fish!
Once in a while? I lost 2 Vibrax #5 and a 1/3 Cleo in one trip. That's a lot of money.
Nice ivo
I’m thinking of getting a couple of stingeye spinners for largemouth bass
Great Catch! Would one benefit from switching out the treble hook on the stingeyes to a single hook? I think this will help prevent snagging...
you could certainly do that :)
Nice Steelie! Tuning in from across the River, eh?
LOL...thanks for tuning in and hopefully the border will get back to normal soon :)
@@thundermistlures - how do you keep from donating $15 in lures to the Lower river? It has many Vibrax #5's, 1/2 Rooster tails. Cleos and such.
@@kevindifranco3494 ...i use the countdown method and i will try to do a video on this topic someday :)
oh...sorry...wrong video.....in this video, I was bottom bouncing and the key is the sinker weight - not too heavy to get hung up, but heavy enough to hit bottom - then, when you feel bottom =, just lift your rod tip up slightly, to keep your sinker moving along :)
@@thundermistlures - that would be very helpful ..how much do your stingeyes run? I would like to lose less than $15 a trip. I once hooked something with a crank using a 7' Ugly stick with 3olb braid. I had the rod bent over and tried to pull it up to see it. The line broke. Any idea what it coulda been? I pulled a snapping turtle the size of a garbage can lid and an 10' tree in with that.
Hey Ivo, wondering what kind of roe you use for steelhead and your preference of curing method? Thanks!
salmon roe and here is how we cure it :) ua-cam.com/video/GSDW5cCRMXg/v-deo.html
@Thundermist Lures what size hook do you prefer for steelhead? Do you keep it the same size when you use beads as well? Or do you change up the size?
I like to use bigger hooks than most people, and that is a size 2 or size 4 octopus style hook, and same when using beads - good luck out there :)
Great video, Ivo! Glad that the steelhead are starting to come in now that it’s getting closer to winter. What size is that uglystik rod? 9ft? Is it the uglystik bigwater? Keep up with the amazing content.
7 1/2 ft , one piece, medium action rod :)
Wow that is amazing. I live far from Niagara river, do they bite during the day time?
yes they do, but mornings and evenings are best :)
Great video! How do you attach the bags to the hook?
just poke it straight through one side and bring your hook out the other side :)
Hi. Love to watch your videos. At this time your sinker had short line to t turn. And your roe bag line is longer . Can you explain ? Thanks
The short line is the traditional method and is best used when there is less risk of snagging - with high risk of snags, I like to use a lone line to my sinker :)
Hi Ivo,nice to see you on the water again especially on this place.
I have plan to go to the Niagara River first time for trout fishing.
I don't have much experience so where would you recommend me to go for the first time, here at Queenston or Whirlpool.
And is the October the right time for trout fishing.
All the best.
November is best for trout and they bite all winter long - both Queenston and whirlpool are good spots to fish :)
@@thundermistlures For rainbows or browns?
@@bkjeong4302 actually both, but mainly for rainbows/steelhead
Hey ivo what length and action rod would you recommend for bottom bouncing the whirlpool and dalhousie?
I personally like 7 1/2 foot, 1 pc rod. medium power/action
How do you tie the roe bag to your line with a hook? Never used one before.
you just poke it right through - go in one side and come out the other side, exposing plenty of hook gap :)
Beauty fish , what weight sizes do you like using for the river?
I like to use the size #4 Stingeye Spinner at 3/4 oz :)
@@thundermistlures Thanks! What about when you are bottom bouncing? 3/4 oz? Love the videos guys keep it up.
@@scottsibley561 Yes - 3/4 oz is my "go-to" weight, but it also depends on the current - sometimes, I use 1/2 oz if the current is slack or 1 oz for stronger currents :)
Nice video as usual Ivo. Do salmon still bite at Queenston late October, November?
Typically, the run is over by mid November
Are the roe bags biodegradable? Are they able to be digested by a fish should it eat one that doesn't have a hook in it?
They are the same material as all the other roe bags, which is nylon - they are not easy to come off your hook :)
...so they are not biodegradable.....
Can u catch trout on jig? Or is Spinnerbait best
Hi Ivo, any tips for casting the Stingeye spinner at the Whirlpool for Salmon? I can cast it a country mile, but should I begin my retrieve immediately or allow it to sink for a while. Should I cast up current, or down? Thanks for all your quality content!
let is sink close to bottom, and then start your retrieve - best to cast straight out and retrieve 90 degrees to the current or against the current...try to avoid retrieving with the current - good luck out there and thanks for the great feedback :)
@@thundermistluresI actually do both. You can hit different pockets of water and different depths by casting up current and bring the lure down with the current. Just retrieve enough to get the blade spinning. Sometimes that’s the best way to get the lure down another foot or two into the strike zone, or get it through a drift right past a rock or eddy where fish are sitting. Swinging the lure out and downstream works too, I’m just saying do both as you cover a lot more water very quickly that way
@@jasonrekker4328 thanks for the feedback :)
Ivo I notice you are downriver from the Jet boat docks......I understand that they do not let you go in that area and park. Did you walk in from the pumping station area just further down is there another access between those two points?
you are correct...access is very limited.....
@thundermistlure Where is this location plezzz
Ima be ordering some of those bait bag for sturgeon and for other fish too great design my man
What weight line do you use for steelhead?
I like to use 10 lb as my main line or if if I'm using braid as my mainline, I don't mind using heavier. I like to use a 8 or 10 lb leader line
@@thundermistlures Thanks
