Works great off the bank as a stationary set-up and if you put a small torpedo float on the leader ahead of the hook, it for sure keeps your bait off the bottom. Killer on flatheads! I've been able to pull some good sized flathead out of log jams that for ahead of choke points and bridge abutments by back bouncing my bait right up to the hairy edge of the jam and sitting bait right in their faces, set my rod in a sand spike and just wait for them to come out and play (Offspring) giggiddy 😂. So you can get real creative with that rig if you are stuck on the bank and use the current and structure locations to your advantage. One more little tip, tie your weight off to the dropper using a clinch knot like you usually do but only do one wrap and trim the tag end really close. Weight snags up at all and it's nothing to pop that knot loose without breaking off even the dropper line. Happy fishing Addicts!

This sounds really interesting but may you explain how the small bobber would keep the bait off the bottom using this rig? i imagine it would just float upside down and go all the way up to the hook since it would be lifting the entire leader line up while the weight keeps it anchored down, and that’s if the weight doesn’t just float up along with the entire rig, right..? please correct me if I’m wrong

@@CJ-ld1kj I see what you mean, it would do that in stationary water. I'm usually bank fishing good sized rivers with depth and current, using at least a couple ounces of lead depending on the current and bait size. Lead keeps it pegged down to the bottom and the current pulls the leader out away from the main line. That's how I'm able to put my bait, usually a live bluegill, right up in front of the snags. Naturally you will lose a bit of tackle finding those snags, but once you have the structure figured out you can cast ahead of them and feed line out slowly to get the bait right into the front door. I hope that explains it a bit better, but it definitely helps keep the turtles off your bait which is a big problem in my area. Also as a side note, I want to go fishing so bad right now but I'm laid up from a surgical procedure, hoping I'm healed enough to get some winter steelhead soon.

I like bouncing from the bank, I use a shorter leader and a shorter drop. Where I live on Vancouver Island there is a bait ban so I bounce any kind of hardware including rubber worms, corkies, Spin n Glos, beads even spinners and plugs. It's definitely my favourite way to fish.

I use 80lb braid for the entire rig and a small rubber band to hold the bait on the hook. It works for me and I get my gear out of snags most of the time. I catch fish even without the fluorocarbon leader. When back bouncing they see the bait first (imo anyway).
Great setup, I love the tutorials.

Do it all the time from the shoreline, exactly the same principle except you walk along the shore as you back bounce. We call it bottom bouncing here, but it's the same. I've even done it with spinners in a bit heavier current, covers a lot of water, especially when doing it the way Jordan teaches the spinner and jigging tutorials. Close, then middle, then far. But I'll go over each distance multiple times, then move 10 yards, repeat. Very effective.
