I lost a lot of muscle by fasting for too long with a very active lifestyle. I don't workout, but I am a 50 year old contractor who walks tens of thousands of steps on an off day. I just move a lot. So I found that eating just a very small amount of hamburg, steak, chicken or clean protein like that, in the morning, both breaks my fast and also keeps my protein in good shape. I no longer 'fast' like I did but I use many of the principles that I used to use, fasting was just a part of the puzzle.
I should add. I am 6 feet tall, weighed roughly 172-174 for a couple of years, then started intermittent fasting, went to 168 for a year, that's cool. Then all of the sudden I went to 164 and people were asking what was going on. I added a handful of nuts in the morning to break the fast, but then moved on to 2-3 ounces of protein so that I get better amino acids. Now I am 178, have good muscle and am feeling good.

2:11 the organ systems that were designed lol because if we didn't have these functions, and we had to wait thousands of years for each organ to somehow form itself, the species would have never continued. Just like that random fish that washed up on shore that somehow could breathe and feed itself, on land, to give itself enough energy to reproduce with itself even though it didn't have that function. It would have died and evolution would have never happened if that were the case.
It's funny that Google will say that your shoulder muscles evolved from the oblique muscles but how would you have been able to feed yourself if you couldn't lift your arm (ou need food for energy to reproduce)? How would you have been able to feed yourself with proper foods if you didn't have working memory to begin with to remember what foods to eat and what foods not to eat, as well as to remember that eating is going to get rid of that hunger feeling you somehow didn't know you had? When you take the reality-test, it's so easy to disprove Evolution over and over again. How would our bodies have even been able to form mitochondria if we couldn't live without it to begin with?
I know this has nothing to do with the video but I still have to take advantage of opportunities to remind people that every system in our body had to function immediately so that we were able to survive adapt and thrive, otherwise every last species in the world would have died off before it had the chance to reproduce because the reproduction of code itself is a design

Long term fasting is a fad. Our ancestors never went hungry on purpose. It was forced on them by nature. Just because people talk a lot about something does not make it reality.
Fasting for more than 2 days starts to burn protein out of your body, and quite rapidly, regardless of what all the pro-fasting automatons tell you.
Sure, it's not dangerous but if you do it too often or too long, you just lower your muscle and slow your basal metabolic rate.
Be careful to not fall victim to group think. Just because you hear something from a lot of people does not automatically make it true...

Fasting when your body is fat-adapted is muscle sparing. Your body will preserve muscle mass at all costs. Especially if you include weight bearing exercises.
Under a five day fast isn't going to lose you much muscle mass. Any lost will be regained very quickly post-feed. Again, assuming you include weight bearing exercise.
There's some pretty good literature showing that calorie restriction and long-term fasting improves life-span and drastically improves neurological illness.
