Safety Third is a weekly show hosted by William Osman, NileRed, The Backyard Scientist, Allen Pan, and a couple other UA-cam "Scientists". Sometimes we have guests, sometimes it's just us, but always: safety is our number three priority.
Nigel you're literally in the same town as thought emporium! another person in the UA-cam chemistry space you really should reach out!
I believe they know each other/have worked together before! In one of The Thought Emporium’s videos he mentions visiting NileRed i think? It might’ve just been that he borrowed something or used his fume hood.
@@marcelinecorbin1257 yup. No Collab on camera, but they definitely have worked behind the scenes before.
@@evilplaguedoctor5158 Nigel has been on camera for a thought emporium episode. It was the one where they experimented with ultrasonic aged drinks
I like thought emporium's content but I find the tone of his videos rather didactic.
@@randomizer3024 ohhh yeah! You're right!
For anyone making a “Safety Third Bingo card” please add “Nigel explains himself 3+ times during a story.”
Don't forget mentioning kevin's extreme ADHD
Add "Everyone complains about capitalism without ever actually saying 'capitalism.'"
@@bradman7281 anybody's extreme ADHD
Nigel "I just wanna say something" Red
Nigel: “I remember this vividly”
Nigel a minute later: “we’ll I really don’t remember” lol
I always thought Alex had "golden retriever energy" and seeing his face while saying "Did you see me catch the bird?" to Will just cemented that...
Seriously, just go to 32:00 , listen to Alex and imagine like a cartoonish pixar-style golden retriever happy just talking about catching a bird xDD
Nigel has to be the only person that quit League by socializing less
Poor Nigel just wanted to be Kevin's friend
i know, that sounded sad as hell but its great
There are so many guys like that😂😂 it's always awesome to reach out to friends (you never know who's lonely)
The backdoor scientist refuses to open up his back door to his friends haha
This show is the perfect way to simulate spending time with friends. The future is now.
Holly crap I can't belive u guys talked about Capybara hahahaha I'm Brazilian and we have LOTS of those here! They're super chill and are often just laying in a nice shadow beside a river or something. They're basically huge guinea pigs
that is amazing and so cute
Your Brazilian can you explain why under every metal song posted to UA-cam there is at least one comment that says come to Brazil
@@dannybubalo5656 because they want them to come to Brazil???? It's pretty straight forward
But Brazil is the only country do you guys just not have a lot of metal shows
OMG! So! I actually know the history of Outback Steak house. It's Australian themed because the guy who founded it loved Australia and felt that Australians were carefree, with good vibes, who bought the vibes. So he wanted to create a restaurant with the same environment!
Considering that it's near another lake called Alkali Lake and another one called Soap Lake I think the alkalinity of Lake Lenore is natural.
Yeah it is, probably still not great for it though lol
If we ever need a shit ton of rubber again, them fish in trouble.
It took until half way through for me to realise that Alex and Big Willy were in the same room, and that the doorway wasn't a split in separate camera feeds...
The money will possibly be ringfenced, meaning the money will be withheld for up to 7 days.
However I would contact the card issuers for the travel card to double check this.
(I work in the train industry and this happens a lot).
Love the show guys
i love how every podcast devolves into their issues with capitalism
based
been looking forward to this podcast and nigel's smile is so cute 😂
Right?
Best podcast to ever exist in the existence of all the crap to ever be made.
THIS^
My man's never listened to PKA or Cum Town.
I can't believe these are here and I love all the collabs between you all you are all amazing people and thank you
With IDaK's credit card: It could be something where they ran an authorization when it was meant to be charged as debit, When that happens things seem to glitch out and it can take like two weeks to go back in your account. You can call the bank/card and make sure it's still pending and/or ask them to fix it. (I used to work at a hotel, this always happened when someone told us to run a debit "as credit" then got mad at us when it got messed up even when we warned them it might)
Idat*
I've gone on a couple of 11 day backpacking trips and the no devices cleanse is 100% worth it.
It's kind of hard to explain, but you pick your phone up after and it almost feels like you've never used it before. Your brain almost forgets what the thing is.
I used to be obsessed with scrolling through instagram or having to keep snapchat streaks with a million different people, but after those trips I've found that I just don't have the desire to do those things as much. When I'm bored my brain decides it wants to work on one of a couple hobby projects I have going on and I feel so much more refreshed. I still scroll at times, but not having that be the #1 thing I end up doing has been great.
I know I'm commenting this under a year old episode but if Will sees this, I would Definitely recommend doing something like you talked about starting at 40:22. Everything you said about how happy that could make someone is true.
It's so funny hearing Will talk about reaching out to Peter Brown to collab, because that was my first time seeing Will, and it's one of the things that led to me subscribing to Will's channel
Ditto.
OMG Alex....the "how much effort vs how much money" thing is SO real
But 700$ is definitely worth the effort for me!
Thanks for the frequent uploads
I hate landlords myself, naturally this video is a match made in heaven.
Having worked in fintech as an intern for a summer: can confirm, money does just get lost. Its not even that uncommon.
I would be careful with the "if you do something and feel bad afterwards, you should start making behavioral changes" idea. In most cases, that's probably good advice, but it can backfire. How you respond to things is a trained response, and usually not intentional. For instance if you've been raised in a hyper-religious household that denigrated your human nature, you might feel ashamed after doing anything related to sex. That's not because there's anything wrong with what you're doing, it's just an ingrained emotional response from being trained to have negative associations with one of the most fundamental components of being human. Trying to eliminate it from your life will fail, and will cause you damage. Your emotional response to things is just that, a response, it can not be a guide. It does not show you where to go, it is purely a reflection of where you've been and the imprint of your prior experiences.
the section around 46:00 sums up my life like holy shit thank you guys
i never was able to figure that out
can confirm about the internet and going out thing. The fear of failure and wanting to vanquish any possibility for messing up are absolutely deadly, at least personally. Coming to terms with the idea that I 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 fail and things 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 be my fault and I 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 have to deal with loss as a result of my choices is hard, and especially when I've spent my life constantly suppressing my wants and impulses cause that's what I thought everyone did and that's just how you be "a mature person" when really it creates emotional immaturity
Of all the things that float to the top of UA-cam, this podcast is the megalodon of brown sharks. Keep up the great work.
@NileRed: When you mentioned at times don't want to go on Reddit or web other rabbit holes and you would rather stare at the wall; I find those small books of soduku or crosswords you get in the news agents for a couple of quid perfect for those situations.
Occupying enough that you aren't bored, offline enough that you don't just hit the new tab button by instinct and return to the brain rot, and dull enough that you can think clearly when inspiration hits there is nothing holding you back for moving on, doing something that feels more productive to return to the puzzles another day.
Agreed on reddit. I get so much more done, especially in the morning and evenings. It just doesnt need to be a part of your day. Being bored is a good thing. Also, roo is good eating. It's a lil lean cuz they're yoked but it's p good. it's on par with like...horse.
My parents took it to the next level of checking my Internet history and checked each individual cookie of images
Yall should watch The Urban Rescue Ranch, the dude has a kangaroo, and cappybara!
omfg, lol that is TOO good of a Mickey impression.
A bunch of my favorite youtubers all on a single podcast? Yes please
Sodium into a lake. Its full of lye, now !
The fish will turn into that Norwegian lutefisk ! Yum !
45:00 I find myself watching the same TV shows and playing the same games over and over again for the same reason. I could do something new and possibly be disappointed, or I can do the same old thing and know exactly what I am getting. It's the same reason McDonald's is one of the most popular food places in the world; It isn't the best, but it's consistent.
What would we do without Willy?
I know the statement is “ending with a bang,” but I like starting with it.
campout idea, everyone bring a smooth metal rod and twine. build the best trebuchet. the metal rod is the axle, twine holds it together, find the rest outside.
Alex has siblings named Skyrim and Morrowind? his parents are cool as fuck
"And meet my cousins Dark Souls and Elden Ring."
Yall need to go up to northern Maine, they have limited phone coverage and tons of cabins with no wifi.
This is one of the podcasts
It is indeed
I'm so happy I found more IDAT content to watch
"self inflicted prison".... like....rehab?
my favorite scuffed scientists
I’m so in love with Nigel honestly
49:44...the look...bahhh!
There's a place in LA called "Wurstkuche" that makes a rabbit and rattlesnake sausage hotdog. There's one Downtown near the arts district, also probably other areas~ It's worth a go!
(They also serve other sausages)
Kevin doesn't speak very often on this podcast, but when he does it's absolutely amazing
I want to be totally clear - my barrier is super low - if you guys ever wanna make a video together I would totally be down :)
I had a deal with my friend who lived next door that when either of the dads cut power we would just throw the extension cord to the others window and continue playing. I guess they gave up too when they saw the 60m cord running across the yard to the neighbours house.
Oh yeah, my dad cut the power from whole house since it was summer and they didn't need electicity hence the cord.
When will William post another video?
My parents had a chat with me upon uncovering my search history in middle school but my two best friends were also there (and complicit,) so the trauma was distributed evenly among us lol. Honestly it was just funny as hell looking back.
It’s time for the long awaited Nilered and Backyard Scientist collab!
you could all buy houses in Nebraska for a quarter of what you pay in rent where you are, then we would live near each other! YAY UA-cam ALLSTAR BBQ!!!!
William doing the cleaning and shit for a house full of people because he knows his partner really cares about that kind of stuff is just great.
That's the kind of man I want to be.
I've been told that Kangaroos are hard to farm, you need huge fences to keep them in an area and they dont herd well. So they have to be hunted, which is why its expensive meat.
The thing about organizing trips with a ton of people is everyone has a different schedule and if you need to make a deposit for a rental place you'll need to collect and figure out transportation.. a lot of places need to be booked months in advance
I love this podcast because it's almost identical to the random thoughts in my brain
22:10 maybe there was a full skimmer put on top of the card reader so a thief stole the payment
Watching NileRed have a John Nash moment where he discovers game theory affects his UA-cam video is so interesting.
I love these videos it's like my thoughts out loud 🤣 maximum autism/ ADHD
As a kid, I found the best way to not get in trouble for your search history is to look up anything that'd get you into trouble on your older siblings devices
2:40 piss corner logic. Humanity's biggest downfall
So uhh, who's gonna buy the metric ton of sodium? Can we start a gofundme for this? I'll contribute a few shekels lol
I just noticed the among us in Kevin's 3d printer lol
45:00 Nigel getting off reddit and league of legends
Also a Montreal UA-camr and been thinking about putting together an event. From my side at least, you don't really want to cold email channels that have 100x your viewership to "hang out" because they obviously get solicited a bunch. I've generally left things the other way around. Also, hands making chemical reactions is just automatically less "Hey there's a guy to hang out with" than the dude riding around on a bike with roomba wheels. Now that's a human!
Anyway, him me up Nigel if you read this.
Outback steakhouse is an American created chain . it was literally created to because of Crocodile Dundee
Two guests I'd like to see you have on are Demo Ranch and ZNA. But I always enjoy whoever is on. If Osman makes a crazy builder compound I would totally volunteer my welding/fiberglassing/plastic and rubber casting talents.
Peter Brown collab was how I discovered William
I have the same air fryer as Nigel
less than 1½ minutes in and I'm already like "oh no ehat are they gonna do"
Archery is the hobby you should get into Kevin.
Nigel and Epic Meal Time cross over, Harley is in Montreal right?
If you want to eat snake, you have to come to Hong Kong, Will. For some fucked up reason, it's an actual delicacy here.
Yeah, we're going to need to see some footage of the Aussie at Outback. Please and thanks.
Big Willie, the nerd herder!
A content creator house of engineers/makers would be the most interesting kind of content house
You mean a bunch of “influencers” that only post swimwear photos aren’t interesting?!
YAYyyy! Happy day...I love the days when a podcast pops up🥰🙏
"You have to try it to find out" yes yes yes
Cesium is cheaper when you heat one of its compounds and distill out the metallic. Extractions and ire (💥&🔥) or Cody have the vid.
When I left my apartment, I just left them with the deposit. Fighting for that back was more trouble than it was worth... Mostly because my roommate and I broke a few things and they turned out to be surprisingly difficult to replace.
To Will's point, I know so many people have problems with shitty landlords. I know shitty landlords are a chronic problem, and it's disturbingly easy for a shitty landlord to skip out on debts, responsibilities and culpability and just start a new LLC anonymously. But I actually had two pretty solid landlords. It's hard for me to pick the side of "all landlords suck" because it honestly seems like certain people are just disgruntled that they have to pay for a place to live.
But I do empathize with Will a bit. Seems like the landlord who kicked him out of the house with Mike and Cameraman John didn't have good reason.
The third house, not sure if I can blame them after the roomba and tungsten cube videos, but I still empathize. 😅
I mean, you can say the idea of landlords suck without blaming every landlord for participating in the system.
@@aidanclark196 exactly this.
Though it isn't just landlords, or mostly landlords.
The issue is mostly investment property owners. That idea should be abolished.
Rental properties are just a subset of that. problem
@@mattymerr701 very much agree.

What Alex says about the coast and sun is interesting I assume it’s a bit easier in Australia
Peter brown was my garbage flavor gateway drug shout out to the spectrometer 😂😂😂
Please do a fishing podcast.
The way I quit reddit was to just not use it for a week. After the first couple of days the impulse tanks hard and before you know it there is no desire to go back.
All your favorite creators in one place.
Except for Nigel of course.
What would we do without Willy?
you guys touched on a point i can actually give advice on: at about 21:00 the guys start talking about paying internationally and, for international transfers, paypal is absolutely garbage. don't do it. the service fee is borderline abusive. try other options like wise (formerly transferwise) or payoneer. they have better conversion rates and service fees (payoneer being a fixed fee). wired transfer works but it takes too long, wise usually goes through in the same day. that's how i get paid for freelance work overseas.
There's a lot of Giraffes in Texas so I would expect there to somehow be Kangaroos there too.
$1400USD is about $2000AUD - as much as I hate using the phone that's gotta be worth a few phone calls.
19:57 I wonder if they've just not made an in-house point-to-currency module. It'd be a pain in the ass to translate points to several currencies, but seems like a nice workaround to scope when flying.
Alex bro, call commbank! You should have no issues getting a resolution. Honestly, the hardest part is verifying you are the the account owner, but it's not that bad. Once you explain the problem and lodge the dispute, they have a dedicated team that advocates for you with the other financial institute. I can't see a reason why you wouldn't get you money back.
So phones are bad and we should stop using them so much.. i get that.. But do I still hit the subscribe button and press the little bell to turn the notifications on, tho? And last time I pushed myself into social situations instead of watching a funny man in the magic box I nearly fell apart and stopped talking to people altogether for 5 years..
I love these podcasts there always so funny👍👍👍👍👍
Kevin needs to network with General Sam!!
Landlords are the scum of the earth.
